1  Economy / Economics / Re: Switching from pricing Bitcoin in dollars to pricing dollars in Bitcoin. on: August 22, 2018, 03:10:44 PM
This is almost possible. As you need dollars to buy bitcoins and not the other way around.
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Twitter CEO Says Bitcoin Will Be Worlds Single Leading Currency on: March 23, 2018, 07:28:47 AM
Twitter CEO Says Bitcoin Will Be Worlds Single Leading Currency. The CEO of twitter Jack Dorsey has said that that the Bitcoin will be the worlds single currency. In the wednesday interview of times with Jack Dorsey he himself noted as a bitcoin investor and said that ” I believe that cryptocurrency will take over the US dollars and becomes the primary global currency for payments within the time of 10 years or less”. He personally reviewed that the world and internet will have a single currency and that will be Bitcoin.

While the price of bitcoin is going on slowly and costly the twitter CEO has argued that new solution will ease the difficulty in the end. Jack Dorsey also said that ” The more and more people have it, Those things go away there are new technologies for the blockchain to make it approachable for everyone”. Jack Dorsey is putting his money on the Bitcoin where his words can bring the Bitcoin transactions to faster and cheaper.

Powerful and visionary seeing potential in bitcoins is a good proof of that fact that bitcoins are not bubble. I have heard only positive opinions from all successful people bitcoins except Warren Buffet. Warren Buffet is investing in stocks and thus him supporting bitcoins will be quite contradictory.

I hope we hear more such positive news about bitcoins as it really helps to combat the FUD being spread regarding crypto. It also brushes off the rumor regarding Twitter going to ban crypto related ads.
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it safe to invest in cryptocurrency in India? on: March 23, 2018, 07:23:13 AM
In India, the transaction in cryptocurrency is not yet approved by Indian Government but they are saying, we need to analysis it before approval.

Our Finance minster Arun Jaitley said in his budget speech that the government will do everything to discontinue the use of virtual currencies in India.

So, we are in dilemma to invest in this or not?
There is no need to be worried about this:

1) First of all , he has said that he will come with rules by December last. Even if you invest your money in bitcoins by December , you can easily get 2x of the money invested. If you invest this money in bank deposits, it will take about 10 years for 2x.

2) In case he decides to ban all bitcoins in India, the investors will get time to withdraw their earnings. So what is there to worry about ? Just go for it, if you are still doubtfull see the volumes being traded on exchanges like Zebpay every minute.
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sell all you got NOW!!! Tomorrow will be too late! on: March 23, 2018, 07:20:03 AM
Well, good thing I don't own any (I wish).  Roll Eyes

At, least someone got happy to see the post made by OP. Consider this post as some consolation prize as you are missing the huge profits given by bitcoins.

It is obvious that people who are not investing any money in bitcoins (due to fear) will keep spreading negative news about bitcoins or wish that it just ends badly for all investors. Unfortunately, this has failed to happen for last 8 years and bitcoins has steadily grown every year. I do not see any solid reason for this growth going to end any soon.
5  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin at 2600$, is it possible !!!! on: March 23, 2018, 07:17:42 AM
what we'v seen in the first 3 month of 2018 are huge different from what we'v been expected to see in 2018
so with the last huge movement of bitcoin price what do you think ,
is it possible to see 2600$ again ??

No, it is not going to reach that level this year. If it ever reaches that level, it will completely collapse and that will be the end of all other alt coins as well. Such a huge drop is possible only in following cases:

1) We have some other revolutionary technology which is way better than blockchain. This is very much possible and I am sure a lot of companies might be working on such projects.

2) Country like US banning all bitcoin transactions in its country. This is less likely but we never know the mood of politicians.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BCH vs BTC? on: March 23, 2018, 07:08:40 AM
Hi, guys, I found few articles on the Internet stating that BCH will cross BTC in few months/years. Is there any possibility? Whats your opinion?

There is very less probability of this happening. However, one thin has surprised me for sure. BCH was showing positive returns recently (24 hours period) when all other coins were red (including bitcoins). This is the sign of a good coin and if it continues to show similar behavior in future, I am going to invest some money there as well. So far I had invested mainly in bitcoins and ripple only. In my opinion only ehtereum has the capability to cross bitcoins in future.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin vs Ethereum on: March 23, 2018, 06:38:48 AM
I will suggest you to go for ethereum if you ready to remain invested for long term. If you compare bitcoins with ethereum, there are a number of basic benefits associated with ethereum. For instance, let us talk about the transfer speed. In case of bitcoin, pre-set block time is 10 minutes and thus the transactions take few minutes to happen. It is just 12 seconds in case of ethereum and this means that ethereum transactions are processed in seconds.
8  Other / Meta / Re: Merit [NEW] on: March 23, 2018, 06:30:31 AM
More people unhappy for the merits system, Because many Members stuck their rank because of merits required, but many Members are happy about it for the reason to prevent low post and spamming so they use merits system, but even if you make a quality post you cannot avoid having your post unnoticed because there so many post in the thread, but don't lose hope because someday they will be notice the post we made and we're not the only one like this because many also Members seek to have merits to be able to rank up,that why start now and make your own post.

What is new in this topic except the [NEW] that you used in the title. You are just repeating what has been told here multiple times already by a number of members in the meta section. There is no harm in opening a new thread about merit system but it should be done only if you something new to add.

Even expecting some merits for your posts is not bad but do not let is affect your post quality negatively. You should put more effort because of this instead of just copying what worked for a member in past.
9  Other / Meta / Re: Does giving merit to your company isn't allowed? on: March 23, 2018, 06:27:13 AM
E.g. of company (brother, sister, cousin, friend, parent etc.)

Having sMerit and sending it to my company is my decision since it's my sMerits to give. Why some members give me a negative trust for accusing my account and my cousin's account whose mentoring me in this forum an alternate account? We live in the same roof and using the same bandwith of internet. There's nothing in the rules said that you can't merit your company instead you can send merit to anyone you like.

There is also no such rule here that says:

1)  A member should be given negative trust for suggesting ways to members here regarding cheating the merit system. For instance, to  this particular thread.

2) A member should be given negative trust for giving merits to his friends and family here.

Does this mean that a senior member should proceed now and give you a negative trust ? Rules do not even say that you cannot send merits to your alt accounts but you need to use your common sense man.

10  Other / Meta / Re: A number of newbie accounts being made with good-knowledge posts? on: March 23, 2018, 06:24:25 AM
This seems strange to me. Since the merit system has been introduced, the forums (or at least I) have been witnessing a number of newbie accounts with some great knowledge posts. Some sound like they've been around for years, and it's something interesting that they've a recently created account.

In simple words, it smells like a surge in multiple accounts to me. Roll Eyes

Past situation

People creating multiple accounts just had to complete the activity to rank up and thus they were posting one liners to achieve this.

Current Situation

People making multiple accounts and wanting them to rank up are making quality posts in hope of some merits. Isn't this good for the forum that we are getting quality posts added here ? Problem is with those members who are still continuing with old approach (making shit posts) as they are content with Jr Member rank as they might need it for bumping threads only or sending pms.
11  Other / Meta / Re: Newbie Account with 10 Posts/Activity and 100 Merit ?! on: March 23, 2018, 06:17:35 AM
Today i see a Posting from this Account https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=258817

Can any one me explain this? Newbie +10 Post +10 Activity and +100 Merit
What is wrong with the System? I can not see this guy merit history and for his 10 Postings he get no Merit reward from other Users
Is the Merit System buggy or have newbie with old register age will have merits, that will be very unfair for the newcomers Newbie/Jr. Member/Member. So this User can rank up very fast with low quality post only with activity to Full Member.
I'm confused! I think this is not this what theymos want...

Ok, this members might be abusing the merit system. Just mention them in related threads and leave the decision to the mods. Some are abusing the merit system but it does not mean that other new members do not have a chance. You should also see the positive side here where some new members were able to rank up with merits earned after the merit system was introduced. It means that it is also working for some people. Till the merit system is improved (like increasing the merits in circulation), we have to make up for it with more effort.
12  Other / Meta / Re: What is the meaning of the merit mechanism on: March 23, 2018, 06:00:39 AM
If you are interested in bitcoin, don't worry about merits - they will take care of themselves.

If you are here just to make money, it's best not to expect any merit...
I'm interested in bitcoin and also want to make mone.
Before merit, two things don't conflict.

I agree that some members are involved in merit abuse at large scale but you should not loose all motivation because of this. Just leave this to the staff as they are already taking action against such accounts.

Regarding you wanting to earn some money here, there is nothing wrong with it and the merit system is not enforced to stop new members from participating in these signature campaigns. It is to fight against the spam and users who are here with good intent need not worry at all. Keep posting quality posts and merit will follow.
13  Other / Meta / Re: How long will merit exist? on: March 23, 2018, 05:54:28 AM
I just only wondered about it.

No one can tell you the correct answer except the admin who introduced the merit system.

Merits system can be here for quite long as:

1) After the merit system was implemented a lot of new members also stared making quality posts. The content length increased from one liners to more. We was  lot of members taking out time for creating useful threads like stats related to merit system. The meta section once again became alive with huge participation from a lot of members.

2) I think it is designed in a way that it will keep getting better with time.

14  Other / Meta / Re: Good posts not rewarded with merits on: March 23, 2018, 05:46:06 AM
I also see a thread that give some merits, you have to do is to provide your link so they can see your good quality post. This is an easy way for them to find out and see our good quality post. Do not be envious to other who have a lot of merit but try to make a good quality post and acceptable topic. There are also chances with similar post, so we do not receive merit, it's best to read before posting.

There are a number of such threads. After the merit system was launched, I think we had more than 30 such threads each offering at least 10 merit points in the thread. Some offered as much as 50 merit points in single thread for applicants. Note that some of these threads are little harsh in giving merits. In one of the threads, I saw the OP awarding 1 merit each to almost all the applicants. So, after making 30-40 quality posts, if you have still not got any merits, you can try your luck there.
15  Other / Meta / Re: How do I get merit? on: March 23, 2018, 05:43:25 AM
Where can I get merit?

You can get merit only on this forum. You can get it by posting quality content here.

What's the feeling of having merit?

The feeling of earning a merit is just awesome. When you get it from a senior member, you feel more happy that your work is being rewarded by experienced members. Whenever I see a new merit in my profile, I check the post for which I got the merit and the member who gave me the merit. Those buying merits must be having good laugh on how easily they cheated the system but they must also be in a fear of getting caught always.

16  Other / Meta / Re: Any penalty for selling merit? Missing on "Merit FAQ" on: March 23, 2018, 05:37:31 AM
I guess selling of merit is happening out of the forum or through PM, so such cases are going to be hard to prove ones. But in the case if such deals will be uncovered I believe those users will get negative trust as well.

Deals happening outside forum: If these are happening in online marketplaces, it can still be traced. It will require a lot of work on the part of staff though and I do not think they have that much free time. If you notice such a thing on any marketplace like Freelancer, you can bring it to the attention of mods.

Deals through PMS: Why are these hard to catch for the moderators ? Can't they check the pm of other members ? This is done on other forums I am part of .
17  Other / Meta / Re: Only 5 merit to Member !!! on: March 23, 2018, 05:32:06 AM
Here is how to get remaining 5 smerit:

1) Create an infographic about the forum rules : Just make a clear and attractive infographic about the forum rules and cover something that no one has touched here before. There are higher chances of getting merits with such a post in comparison to content. Very few people are capable of making such posts.

2) Compile stats related to the forum: Some of the members here got good number of merits for posting stats related to a particular forum rule. You can try your luck with similar thread, it will take a lot of time though to arrange data for one.
18  Other / Meta / Re: RANK & MERIT-BASED Signature Campaigns (an attempt) on: March 22, 2018, 01:59:25 PM
I wish that bounty manager could also award merits for every member at the end of the campaign, base of course also in stakes like at least we could get one or two merit at the end of the ICO hahaha no need to modified the forum rules.

So far I had not got merits for my post from my campaign manager. But all members who are enrolled in signature campaigns have this advantage for sure. They have all their posts being read by a senior member here (who might be having good number of merits). There is definitely a strong possibility that he will give you a merit if you had made a very helpful post. Regarding giving merits to all applicants at the end of campaign, this will affect the forum. We will see a lot of new accounts applying in hope of getting those free merits.
19  Other / Meta / Re: Unmerit rule? on: March 22, 2018, 01:56:03 PM
I think it's just that people are reluctant to give out merits right now because it's being mixed up with the Trust system.

Either that, or they have too few sMerits and aren't getting so many merits themselves, so they're reasoning that they should only give merits to really, really good posts.

The system is still equilibrating. But as you can see you already have 1 merit... and getting 1 merit when you post mostly 1 or 2-liners is a miracle lol.

So the system works. I bet you'd have 2 merits if your next 40 posts are 60% paragraphs rather than 1-liners Smiley.

Try it Cheesy

Why don't we understand that it is the merit sources who have the highest number of merits to give each month. There is no need for them to be reluctant in awarding merit points to good posts. Only problem I see here is that the merits in circulation are less than needed. This can be achieved by either increasing the number of merit sources or increasing the number of smerits given to merit sources per month. Second is more easy to implement, finding more honest members for the role of merit sources can be an issue.
20  Other / Meta / Re: How to get free merit on: March 22, 2018, 01:52:04 PM
It seems that you're showing how to earn free merit by start new thread and explain about merit things ( current hot topic ) so you have excuse for your HERO account to give your smaller rank member , 50 merit

Genius  Grin

Consider this as an exception. Such cases are happening even after members keep reporting them and these accounts getting negative trust. Some members will never give up on cheating. They make it look so obvious that it is very easy to spot. There cannot be two opinions that this post did not deserve 50 merit points. Not only those 50 merit points got wasted (which should have gone to genuine posts) , it also gives a wrong message to the people seeing this. This is a big discouragement for a member who is trying to level up following all rules here.
