Way to kill your laptop faster by putting it through additional heat cycles.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 800kW of power and a greenhouse on: October 25, 2020, 11:53:55 PM
If you truly can buy at 5 (wtf is that? 5 euro per what?) and sell at 135 (again...135 what for what unit amount?) - assuming you use the same units and buy at 5 whatevers and sell to grid at 135 whatevers.....then why would you mine at all?  Just buy at 5 and charge capacitor banks, batteries, anything you can connect to store grid power at a cost of "5 whatevers", and then immediately dump those saved charges back to the grid at "135 whatevers."

You would get a continual 27x on your money just by charging capacitors then discharging them into a grid-tied inverter.  No mining neccessary.

Therefore I question your "buy at 5, sell at 135" rate.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: thoughts on switching to ASIC mining on: July 24, 2019, 10:42:39 PM

Another way is you can probably just join 2 seperate breaker outlets which are 120V. Now you should consult with an electrian first before you do this because I don't know if its going to be up to code and everything. So do this under your own risk.

Depending on the jurisdiction you would have to do more than "consult" an electrician.
You nay be required to have an electrician either do the work or certify it.

But yes 240V is just using the +120 and -120 (red & black) with heavier gauge wiring and a
bigger dual pole breaker. That's how the stove and dryer do it.

That's a lot of capital overhead for a product with a limited lifecycle.

lol @ +120 and -120 on an AC circuit ffs.

Yeah, just take one leg from 1 breaker and the other leg instead of a neutral from another breaker and you can get a 240v circuit from a couple 120v outlets....make your own power cable that plug into both outlets to do it and it's done...but don't call it +120 and -120 lol...no such thing.  If you don't understand how to make a 240v cable from neighboring 120v circuits then you shouldn't try it.  Sidenote:  "heavier gauge" is absolute nonsense since you are effectively halving the current versus a single 120v circuit.  For crying out loud...if you don't understand basic household electrical wiring don't go giving fucking advice on customizing someone's home where they likely wish to sleep without risk of being burned to the ground.

Hell, I run 240v through "normal" 120v receptacles in my mining room.  You can do a whole bunch of shit if you know wtf you are doing....but to "give advice" and say stupid shit like +120 line and -120 line?Huh??  wtf?  Next you will call it 2 phase....ugh.

Maybe you are banned.  Link works fine.

Thank your for the response.

It turned out I was at my 100 server limit in discord and I had to leave one to join here.

How about posting a valid discord link?

Main ANN thread page, website, the post above....everywhere I searched all gave invalid discord invites.

Try this - https://discord.gg/4MgxUn6

Thanks, but also invalid.  Perhaps it was a 1 time use link and someone beat me to it?

*edit - I was already in 100 discord servers which is a limit.
Once I left one of my servers I was able to join.

8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Adding 200A service on: September 13, 2018, 07:23:45 AM
In united states, anyone knows who should I contact to add another 200A service to my garage? Power supply company or electrician? I currently have one 200A service in basement which is fully occupied

Start with the power company.

They will know what your service options are and weather you can upgrade your existing service or add a second meter.  Mine will not allow a second meter at the house, but they will allow 1 extra meter to a shed/outbuilding.  They will also tell you what permits if any would be needed from the county/city.  I would need a pre-install permit from the county and a post-install inspection also by the county.  Once you know what options are available from the power company and what regulatory hoops you need to jump through for the local jurisdiction, then you can contact an electrician to do the work.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Antminer Z9 mini overclocked on: July 21, 2018, 01:24:17 PM
I ran at 650 out of the box, bumped up to 750 a couple weeks ago.

I abused it about as much as I could with daytime ambient temps that hit over 50°C in the mining room and a worst chip temp of 86°C, with chip temps no cooler than 77°C on the coolest of recent mornings.  Average chip temps are 78°-80°C in an abusive environment and it's still chugging away.

The stupid high ambient temps I was experiencing are over now that I resolved exhaust heat issues, but I'm comfortable running these chips up to 80 all day long.
I suspect the guy that blew his up was also comfortable running at 80.

YMMV

Did anyone else get this email, if so, when are they to ship----or----was it a scam?

For 1st batch purchasers, the coupons "shipped" quite some time ago.

If you ordered 2nd batch and are expecting a free 2nd miner, you're at least a month away according to the email you pasted.

mining-dutch.nl - auto profit switching for most profitable Scrypt coin for your L3+'s, and you can auto-convert to any coin you want to hodl, even cross-algo like mine Scrypt coins but convert to and get paid in BWK (nist5)

current servers in Europe and Asia - and soon North America (although I currently mine there from the US to EU server and it works fine)

Blake2s, keccak, Lyra2REv2, myr-gro, neoscrypt, nist5, quark, qubit, SHA256, skein, X11, and X11gost algos also supported.

For my L3+ and L3++'s I use:

URL:        scrypt.mining-dutch.nl:8888
worker:    MDusername.workername
password: d=65536

"d=65536" in password field sets the difficulty, all this is explained in their "getting started" page of the mining-dutch.nl website, and there is an active Discord server for support and general chit-chat with fellow miners.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Innosilicon offering BUY ONE GET ONE FREE a few days after I bought a d9 miner.. on: June 04, 2018, 10:02:11 PM
I feel pretty burnt here.  I just bought a $6700~ miner and now you can get one for free through your order.

Is there any buyer protection or anything that can be done about this?

Not sure if anyone else is in the same boat but it sucks.

Buy 2 more + 2 more free to dollar cost average your purchases or take it as lesson learned and move on.
My only income is crypto, primarily mining with ASICs, and personally, I think $6700 for ANY ASIC is too high risk - even $2k is *usually* too much given the "shit happens" factor, but that's just my opinion.
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain launches the Z9 Equihash miner on: June 04, 2018, 09:49:03 PM

I debated the ignore thing, but he's not the worst troll by far, and I'm on here for information, you never know when someone might contribute something useful. But I totally hear you on the quoting troll posts, making a mental note to stop doing that. Smiley

best thing I ever did to sift through the BS here is to click ignore on everyone running a sig campaign - then adding the remaining shitposters to the ignore list is quite easy.

If anyone says anything useful, it usually gets quoted anyway, so you can unignore the few that run sig campaigns and don't have ulterior motives in their posts.

I found this technique allows me to cover more threads in less time and to get more useful info than trying to scroll through everything.

YMMV.

What are people seeing for shipping times?

Right now, we don't even know if they are going to ship anything at all or just take off with the money.
The PayPal pseudo-invoice paying a Russian individual thinly veiled as a company by mentioning an order number, yet with no payment option (PayPal credit) that is available on every other business purchase I've made online using PayPal is quite scammy, and the company has yet to respond or refute accusations of being a scammer...

But it is still early...if you believe everything you read from a brand new company in crypto-space, they will ship starting mid-late June.

The big question here...

Can this be reprogrammed if Monero changes their algo again?

FPGA stands for Field Programmable Gate Array so...yes
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Dwarf FPGA – the anti-ASIC on: May 29, 2018, 01:42:38 PM

@DwarfMiner: please comment on this. If you actually intend to distribute and sell this properly in a professional manner you should be able to have a proper invoicing setup.

Agreed 100%.

5000 Units * 315€ = 1 575 000€
1.5M € is no joke and this whole process should be taken more seriously.

Don't forget to add shipping - if scamming, nothing is shipped then they keep that as well
another ~80 * 5000 makes it around 2 mil €

I replied to the invoice email they sent me asking for clarification about 8 hours ago - no response yet, although to be fair.....timezones
