1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: can bitcoin wallet be hacked by hackers? on: December 13, 2017, 06:44:40 AM
That is a tricky one . Depends on the capability of hacker . Bitcoin is most vulnerable when it has to be transported from one end to other that is the point where hackers try their best to change the path of transaction.Recently, nicehash was hacked and million of dollars were at the risk so that incident somehow indicates that maybe it would be possible to hack online wallets .

Can't get sp2 to sync, used the bootstrap to get it up until 7 days left to sync, but the wallet can't find any other connections Sad conf file seems ok with the node list, tried running as admin, firewall exception added, most odd Sad
Normally UPNP should do that things for you (Built in).
if you are on windows, check the firewall rules, delete the entrys with the wallet and start it fresh, windows should ask you.
on linux open port 11556,
you donīt need Admin Prvilegs to runthe wallet.

Wallet Version ? (type getinfo at console)
if its
Code:
"version" : 3020000,
"protocolversion" : 1111337,
you can add nodes in the console:
Code:
addnode 24.220.149.200 add
addnode 24.11.45.99 add
addnode 88.89.11.212 add
addnode 98.20.163.179 add

Thanks for the help. All that is done and checks out and still not syncing Sad

Okay ... I'd better explain my situation ...

I installed "your version 3.2.0 ..." on two PCs, and I can move my coins from 1 PC to the other PC ... Does this mean that everything is OK or not Huh
QT ver.3.2.0 is not working with current blockchain.
It's not possible move coins between old wallets.
But possible to recover old wallet/wallets on new blockchain in QT ver.5
If you have several old wallets with different addresses, you must recover every of them apart.

If you have only one old wallet and want to move coins to other PC:

Use 3.2.0 only for privatekey dumping on first PC (debug command in console).
Save this privkey.

Go to second PC.
Check whether directory ..AppData/Roaming/Flappycoin exist.
If YES, rename entire folder to other name, for example /FlappycoinOLD
Better way is to make archive copy of this old folder somewhere in secure place away from ..AppData/Roaming.
May be this folder contain another old wallet and you want to recover this one too.

Download new QT ver. 5 from Github, save proper .conf file and .lib

Start QT ver. 5 application. Wait for full synchronization.
You will have 0 (ZERO) balance at this point. It's normal.
QT ver. 5 will create new clear wallet on "clear" PC (old Flappycoin folder is renamed to FlappycoinOLD or moved to archive copy (not removed forever !!!) and not seen by application).
So this ZERO in not your balance yet.
Go to debug window.
Type importprivkey yoursavedprivatekey
Press Enter and wait some minutes for full blockchain scan.
Your old wallet with all previous information (old address, coin amount, thansaction data) will be recovered.
Wait for full synchronization.
Exit application.
Save arhive of entire new ..AppData/Roaming/Flappycoin folder in secure place.
Save archive of your new wallet.dat file from ..AppData/Roaming/Flappycoin in secure place.

NEVER LEAVE YOR WALLET.DAT FILE NOR PRIVATEKEY STRING ELSEWHERE IN PUBLIC ACCESSIBLE PLACES !

If you have "several" old wallets with the same address but different coin amount (actually the same wallet from different PC), you will have the last coin amount recorded in blockchain (according to last confirmed transaction for this address).

If you have more than one old wallet, save them all in secure place before any manipulation.
Rename every wallet.dat file to different name (for example, wallet-YEAR-MONTH-DAY.dat) to prevent overwrite.
Make privatekey for every old one
(copy back to old ..AppData/Roaming/Flappycoin folder on first PC
rename wallet-YEAR-MONTH-DAY.dat to standard wallet.dat
start ver.3.2.0 application
dump privatekey and save)

Import every privatekey in QT ver. 5 on second PC and save every new recovered wallet under unique name.

I'm a bit confused. I downloaded the new wallet (its named flappycoin-5 windows qt but confusingly it's version 3.2.0.0 - I think that's just an oversight). I just synced the wallet and then copied over my old wallet dat and the coins show up fine. Will these coins vanish after the swap?

I think this might be an opportunity to create new functionality and purpose for the coin, instead of just a rename and coin swap.

We kind of need to decide what we want it to be used for and move forward strategically. IMO, getting the chain moving and some exchanges on board isn't going to magically make Flappycoin valuable.

Energies should be wholly spent on getting the coin stable and working and past the hurdles of reward halving and eventually POS, that's a big enough challenge, given past events in the coin's life Wink

I've still got 200000 flap on poloniex.  Are these now off chain and useless?

Poloniex doesn't allow deposits...

I imagine Poloniex will be on a very out of date wallet. If they were to update you should be able to get back access to those coins Smiley

Very quiet; is the chain moving along OK? Any word on a pool? Smiley

Hey spartgates there is a great guide on the this topic on our flappycoin website under the wallet tab.

Here's the link https://flappycoins.wordpress.com/wallet/

Thanks for the pointer. This is for cpu mining, I was looking for a gpu guide Smiley

edit: think I have it running now (gpu), seems to be hashing, will leave it a few hours and see what happens.

been a while since I did it, solo mining, and forgot how to set it away. Anyone got a quick guide on setting it up on windows? I will use my gpu and see if it gains anything Smiley

We need this coin to be launched as a Proof-of-stake. Do you really want massive miners coming in here to mine and then dump our coin on the exchange, thus bringing down its value. Go for the more long term and stable solution by leaving it strictly POS; if someone is truly interested in our coin they'd be willing to pay for our coin to be apart of the community.

The coin stockpile should be distributed to those who are actually interested in reviving the dead currency (those who start pools, host nodes, create block explores, manage faucets, even those who have followed the progress of its revamp) and thus we shall earn the first staking rewards.

As said earlier, it was PoS that killed the coin 1st time round. A low reward rate on pow while the chain is sorted and stabilised is deffo the most sensible approach imho Wink

Nice to see Smiley Should be interesting to see how this develops as I imagine there is a lot of coins lost / burned with a coin that has lay dormant for so long. Good work fellas!

Any news guys? I thought we were going to have a new wallet soon? I know there is long term plans, but we need to have a stable platform now, or any interest in the coin will fall off and getting it back and sorted on exchanges will be tough if it falls too far.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FlappyCoin - PoS Released - 6/29 - Need Counterparty Fork - 4btc on: July 28, 2015, 12:55:59 PM
I'm baaaacccckk!!!!

Things have been crazy and an unexpected turn of events has led me to relocate Jalapeno to Colorado, shooting for Boulder or Fort Collins.

Lets get a compilation of the problems right now.

I think i had broken the chain after using a old boot strap when i should have re downloaded the chain.  I'm going to move to an older backup of my wallet and see if that works.

Is there any problem sending coins between wallets? It looks like the only problem is the inconsistent assertion error on only some wallets. Its looking like a clean install solves the problem.

I see that cryptsy is STILL showing maintenance for the Flappy Wallet, which is annoying.... I'm going to contact them again, and i encourage others to do the same so we can get some kind of response.

I'm working on bringing in a 2nd dev to work together with us. I think collaboration is important and we can all learn from each other.

FLAP FLAP FLAP!!

Still getting the assertion error, even after re-install :/

Getting an error when I unlock for mining it says "This application has requested the Runtime to terminate in an unusual way." Any ideas?

It would certainly be an interesting thing to watch the effect of burning that amount on the coin would have!
