Heads up to anyone affected: I'm closing Vertcoin Heavy Industries. If you did not receive the email please see here for more details: https://vertcoinheavyindustries.com/

Thank you for mining with us and I hope you will choose to mine with p2pool in the future.

Could I ask users at vertcoin heavy industries to check their payout addresses? I have moved all the coins off the server into cold storage but I want to make sure no one has had their account compromised. If you find anything wrong please PM me or use the contact form.

Cry

 Angry

Warning!!! Check your pool cash out address

my cash out address at http://vert.bitcrush.info/ was just changed by someone about one hour ago, all my coins in the pool was cash out by someone.

Don´t use same user and pass on different pools

Yes I used different password on different pools
But used only one email address.

maybe some security issue with the frontend or just brute force.

is see bitcrush has now enabled 2Fa i hope more pool admins will do this!

message on the pool site:

"Enabled 2FA, posted Feb 6, 2014 at 05:16 by MonoKaskade

Some payout addresses got changed. This happened on a lot of pools over the last few weeks.
There were several accounts (50+) using the same payout address. I've reset all of those addresses. Please add a new address if you are affected.

I’d advise using passwords you never use for anything else!

In order to enhance security I enabled 2FA (email confirmation) to change account details.
I also enforce a password minimum length of 12 characters containing at least on of the following characters: a-z, A-Z and 0-9
I also enabled mandatory https."

I should mention that heavy industries has always had 2fa enabled.

Update on downtime at heavy industries: I am taking the opportunity to migrate us to a more powerful host. I expect it to take the full day. Please setup a fallover so you may auto-reconnect back once the migration is complete.

The webfront end is up now but stratum is down. While we are migrating please consider setting up automatic payments and making a manual withdrawal. No coins will be lost in the move but we want to keep everythign safe.

VTCPOOL.CO.UK UNDER ATTACK

To all vtcpool.co.uk users - I just received the following message from Digital Ocean who currently host the service:

Our automated systems have detected an inbound Denial of Service attack against your droplet 95.85.52.246.

Due to the size and scale of this attack, we have been forced to temporarily suspend network connectivity to this droplet, in an effort to mitigate this attack.

Attack Rate: 1312978969 bits (That's well over a gigabit per second) per second incoming

I have written back to them asking them to urgently advise when connectivity will be restored.

I am in the process of moving the pool to a pair of redundant, dedicated servers. This attack couldn't have come at a worse time - it will be a week or more until we are fully ready to move to the new servers. I will be liasing with DO today to try and restore service.

Your coins are safe, and as soon as I can get connectivity restored service will resume as normal.

I appologise for the inconvenience, and hope you'll all be patient and stick with us through this.

Same issue here with heavy industries, sorry everyone. If I can suggest a fallover pool coinsprofit is run by the guy who does vertcoin's russian translations.

Right, let's have a push to get our animation finished. Chris has been working on a cool little video to tell non-technical users about Vertcoin and help spread the word.

There are some really nice stills from it at http://vertcoinmarket.com/campaigns/vertcoin-animation/ to whet your appetites.

I just sent 10VTC, please helps us get the last 70 VTC or so in the funding for this before the deadline.

That is looking pretty awesome! Sent today's earnings from heavy industries.

Hey guys,

I am a newbie with respect to mining. Boris already answered many questions but I do have some more. As I don't want him to waste time on answering my questions, maybe you could help out:
1) Once I put up my mining rig and got everything running, can I just leave it alone and it will keep going? How much maintenance and supervision (updates or whatever) is required? Is it a problem to leave the system alone for a whole day (12-16 hours)?
2) The power required to run the GPUs, does it increase proportionally to the number of GPUs deployed?
3) Can you put that system up in your bedroom? I have an open apartment with one huge single room
4) Any other general recommendations apart from the hardware?

Thx and cheers!

1. Miners require very little maintenance. Once you have things configured they should run without issue. For the first few days you should check up on them but afterwards you can leave them off your mind.
2. Yes it is proportional. Or in computer science terms it is linear. The only tricky issue is figuring out how much the non-GPU system components consume.
3. It is safe but you might not like the noise if you plan on running it during the night.
4. You should try to run things 24/7 to maximize capital utilization.

We are the smallest large pool so if you mine with https://vertcoinheavyindustries.com you can improve the network security without sacrificing variance!

We are the smallest large pool so if you mine with https://vertcoinheavyindustries.com you can improve the network security without sacrificing variance! We find a block every 40 minutes on average so payouts are regular and predictable. I should also mention we charge only 1% and charge no withdrawal fees for both automatic and manual payouts except for the the network enforced transaction fee.

tried several times,

Token expired, please try again Tokens are used to help us mitigate attacks; Simply try again to continue

I'm sorry about this Shirenlihei. I've also noticed the tokens lifespans are a bit aggressive. It is on my todo list to fix but right now it is possible to get past if you try again right after the token timeout.

Now over 50 BTC!

Thanks for giving me a try!

Would you be willing to swap the the buy and sell order books? Right now the buy order book is on the left while I think most other exchanges have the buy order book on the right. This caused me to make a double take when I thought the sell side was offering below the buy side.

VTC just passed 20BTC 24 hour volume for the first time on https://CryptX.io!

Also, check out our new coin icons.

Cheers,

Nick

Congrats! And it is nice to see you've got the public order book preview live.

price never seems to grow. all follow cryptsy and there some fuck all the time pull down price. it's awful.
maybe it was someone from the team doge

If you want to feel a little better, look at what's happened to MAX.  Though it's fair to say MAX deserves a beating.

what else max? I do not know any max

By MAX he means Maxcoin.

Hope no one minds me advertising https://vertcoinheavyindustries.com. I've tried to keep the ad short since some of the other longer ads are annoying to scroll past.

Either way I think it is pretty insane and awesome how large Vertcoin has become. Back when I joined the largest miner was CryptoHash at 10MH/s and he had about 5% of the network hash rate. Now the network hash rate has grown so much the entire heavy industries pool is 5%!

I hope no one minds my intrusion.

If anyone is looking for a pool I would like to invite them to https://vertcoinheavyindustries.com/

Now the geek in me would like to talk about the cool software and solid configuration. Except I must admit that I've helped other pool operating members of the community and told them about said awesome software. For example I know several other pools now use nginx.

I won't take much more of your time, but please do consider heavy industries. You should find it a safe & stable pool for your miners.

vertcoinheavyindustries.com has bfgminer listed in its getting started page.

does bfgminer work for vertcoin??  i was under the impression that it didnt.

Sorry Luthan. That getting started page is just the default one. It's on my todo list to improve it, or ask Boris and Alex if I can borrow theirs.

In the AMA the term Zerocash is mentioned a few times.

A quick google search returned mostly usernames, does anyone have a link to read up on that?

This gives more details on both zerocoin and zerocash: http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=q3rgh5ZY
