1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Mintpal, my wierd feeling on: April 28, 2014, 02:30:00 PM
I for one have had nothing but positive experiences with mintpal, as far as I know they've only gone down once and that was during that crazy 10,000 BTC BC rush.

Good for them if they're doing very well, they provided a much needed polished exchange to what was a pretty crappy prior selection.

My only complaint is that I miss the old graph style (though I can understand the new one give a better sense of volume and actual price movement).

2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / What the hell happened to DIME yesterday? on: April 27, 2014, 12:18:00 PM
Did anyone else notice what happened over on bittrex? Someone dropped hundreds of LTC, pushing up the price 1000 times for it to only to crash back after 20 minutes or so.

https://bittrex.com/Market/Index?MarketName=LTC-DIME

Crazy.

I think a better approach instead of voting on features is:

- Have lots of people declare that they're tired of all the crapcoins and they're going to support an actual innovative coin.

- Solicit proposals for new coins over a two week period.  This allows devs to have new features beyond those already known.

- After the two weeks are over, people get one week to vote for the proposal they like best.  Limit voters to those with accounts of a certain age and activity to avoid fraud.

- Everyone agrees to support the winning coin even if they voted for a different proposal.

- Give the developer a month or so to actually develop the coin.

- Launch, profit, etc.

Oh, and a strict no-existing-coins rule for the proposals.  Otherwise you'll end up with "camps" from existing coins arguing why theirs is the best.

I feel like while this is a good alternative, it would be impossible to implement. Forcing people to support something on the internet isn't exactly easy to do.

By the amount of coins flooding the market it would appear that the barrier to producing a coin is low enough that with a good proposal there's no real need to jump through all of these self-imposed hoops.

Ah well, guess it wasn't that great an idea after all Tongue

Checks out with the block rewards of their mystery coin.

Thanks for the tip.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [IDEA] A Bitcointalk Designed Coin on: April 20, 2014, 12:51:42 AM
think you can have it developed after features were chosen?

If we can gain enough steam I'm sure there's enough developers kicking around here that someone would take notice. I'm just trying to help alleviate the same 20 pages of bitching at coin decisions after each announcement. This also serves as a way to tell developers what the community wants from a coin.

Having said that, if someone is interested in developing this and is willing to put there name on the project, shoot me a message.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A Proposition: A Bitcointalk Designed Coin on: April 19, 2014, 04:25:43 PM
Sounds pretty cool to me. I'm also pretty useless if it comes to 'making' a coin, but I'd be curious to see the kinds of decision you have to make.

All aboard unknown community coin!

Thanks! Anything you would like voted on?
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A Proposition: A Bitcointalk Designed Coin on: April 19, 2014, 04:15:01 PM
There seems to be one with an airdrop feature but I like this idea, complete community driven coin based on foundations.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=570750.0

Well, there's that name gone Tongue

Not such a fan of IPOs though. Will be voting against that option if it comes up!
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A Proposition: A Bitcointalk Designed Coin on: April 19, 2014, 04:02:20 PM
There are coins with enough different iterations of the features you mentioned. No need of another one

So let's brainstorm about some new features! I feel like every coin needs a gimmick, being designed by such a big community could be a pretty good one!
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / [IDEA] A Bitcointalk Designed Coin on: April 19, 2014, 03:56:17 PM
Hi Everyone,

I've been kicking around this idea for a while now and I'm hoping others might find it interesting and help me develop it.

What it boils down to is: A coin with features decided by voting on this thread.

Everything from the name, Algorithm, PoW or PoS, limited coin number or infinite number, block time, block reward, mining or free distribution, premine etc. All the features would be decided by polls done right here on this forum.

Unfortunately I lack the skills required to produce such a coin, but I would love to see this idea come to fruition. So please, lets work together as a community and make a coin that is what we want and can more universally support.

First step would be to make a list of all the features you would like voted on, including all the desired alternatives. I've listed a few I can think of and will update this post with ideas from below, let me know what to make the options for each feature!

Lets do this!

Escamillo

Features for voting:

  • Coin name
  • Mining or Distribution
  • Algorithm
  • PoW, PoS or Combined
  • Coin number
  • Block time
  • Block reward
  • Premine or community supported bounties
  • Airdrop?

14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][FAUC] NEW CONCEPT___10% to be mined -_-_FaucetCOIN_-_- 90% for the faucets on: April 10, 2014, 10:30:01 AM
with the actual block reward, all the 10% faucetcoin will be mined in 7 days,

how the blockchain will be secure after that ?

the miners wont stay for only that : "Transaction fees are 0,030"

the coin will be vulnerable to 51% attacks like the faircoin (attacked twice)

Have you planned something agains that?
what about convert the coin as a PoS coin ? like blackcoin

Interesting point....especially since the faucets should be running for over a year at 180,000/day...

Perhaps just reduce the reward to 10/block or something like that?
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Faircoin - The First Fairly Distributed coin. UPDATE WALLET! on: April 08, 2014, 07:02:29 AM
Anyone received FAC payout from the multipool yet?

I started mining basically right away and none of my bitcoin on the multipool have been sent to the fairpool yet (you can see the stats here: http://waffles.wilschrader.com/stats?address=15Muizbg9goJGWYn8pgWcNynoMCYmSwjqg ). So there wouldnt have been any buying of faircoin for distribution yet.

Means that this is a good time to buy if you can though Tongue
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Faircoin - The First Fairly Distributed coin. MULTIPOOL READY! on: April 07, 2014, 03:02:13 PM
is the multipool already buying from mintpal ? there is a nice jump of near 3 bitcoin Grin

I don't think any of the multipool btc has matured yet, and even if it had it would only have made less than half a bitcoin by now. All hype right now Smiley
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: FAIRCOIN MULTIPOOL on: April 07, 2014, 02:52:16 PM
Mining!
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Faircoin - The First Fairly Distributed coin. MULTIPOOL READY! on: April 07, 2014, 02:48:20 PM
So should we be promoting this multipool externally? Or are we still in testing phases?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=560411.0

I made a thread. Lets get this ball rolling!

I've been making posts at a few of the general altcoin subreddits.

Unfortunately you need the site to be up to assign you an address.
