thanks for posting that. It's always hard to figure out where the best place to post something like that. I've taken the suggestion and posted it over there.

I'm having a lot of issues with my current setup and need some suggestions.
I'm running an MSI H310-F Pro mining rig with (12) AMD RX 570 Graphic cards, running Windows10. I purchased this in 2020 and was able to start mining fairly quickly. At the time I downloaded the AMD blockchain driver, modded the cards, and I started with lolminer and mined ETH.
Once ETH switched to staking, I moved over to ETC. But I think that Windows updates have gotten the best of me. Windows is almost at the current version, and all (12) cards indicate an error in the device manager. I've put this aside for quite a while, but I'm trying to get it up and running again.
I ran the AMD cleaner tool, rebooted, and reinstalled an older AMD graphics driver with adrenaline; before doing the mandatory reboot, they were all showing correctly working within the Windows device manager. Rebooted, then they all had an error again. Attempting to run MSI afterburner and the program just appears to hang. Attempt to run the AMD tweak app and it too has an error.
Not sure what happened as it used to run smoothly. again, guessing it's something to do with updated Windows, but looking for some help getting it started again

Been mining a while. Took a look at my miners and found one had a few cards that "died". Typically a shutdown and restart fixes that.
After rebooting I found that I can't mine. I keep getting a "DNS Resolve Error - retrying in 5 seconds". This happened with another miner. And the ones that are still going, I'm afraid to touch them now. I can't figure out why it can't resolve the DNS.
Anyone else see this before? (using ethermine)

So is that to say if you have an AMD card, you're probably never going to see any improvements?

guys third gpu shows 0, any ideas? thanks
I have two miners running Win10 as well. This happens for me when the AMD driver crashes on a particular card. I will get the error from AMD and when I look it may have 1 or 3 cards that are mining at zero. When this happens I have to fully shut down the miner, bring it back up and then I can use it again. A reboot will not work in this case. (it appears to hold on to the problem - as if it requires the video card to lose/drain all power) I have a separate box running LinuxMint - trying to see if I can't run it the same, but it doesn't have (or I haven't found yet) the same way to boost the cards as I do in Windows. If you start normally with that card it means it is a driver problem and so far the only miner which restarts after 10 second with the same settings you had mining normally before the crash is NBMiner.I had a lot of problems with Phoenix, lolminer and a few others with the RX 6800 XT-s I have and since I switched to NBMiner, when a driver crash happens from AMD I only lose 10 seconds and I am back again running with the same overclocking settings.I don't know how they do that but I think it is an absolute must nowadays that all the other miners implement this. Both Phoenix and lolminer continue to mine with 0 Mhsh when a driver crash happens until these versions and this is a suggestion I make here for them to fix the issue for the AMD cards. For myself at least, it's very random. Doesn't happen too often, but when it does it's just (1) random card, or a couple. Either way, it still requires a full shutdown to cure. I do like your suggestion though as I was unaware that NBMiner did that. I'm a fan of lolminer, it's not the apps fault, but I do wish that this auto-reset functionality was there.

On a slightly different topic than ver1.30.
Is it the new epoch, or am I the only one that has noticed a big decline on the shares/earnings? With my (2) rigs I used to make 0.05/day. Than the rule changed so that it would only payout after a minimum 0.1. So, that was ok, every two days I would get paid out. But now it seems that it's every 3 or 4 days. Sometimes 5. While the mhs stays the same, is it that it's simply getting harder to mine eth? I'm currently mining with ethermine.org
Just wondering (and learning).

Again, I get the same screen as above when I run I also run MSI Afterburner with settings power = -10 cclock = 1150 mclock = 2150 Fan = 60 I also run the AMD memtweak just setting the refresh at 30 Typically getting 31mhs/card Which GPU are you using? have you try with the standard bat file if works?. All information is good to try to reproduce the problem

Which algo? Which pool? or a photo to try to check whats happening will help [/quote] There's really not much to show. lolminer starts it's default "splashscreen" block. then it shows a line "setup miner..." and after so long instead of loading up the GPU's as it normally does it just displays "press any key to continue..." which leads to the DOS screen to close. No log file. Mining ETH. Same as with previous versions. pointing to SSL of us1.ethermine.org The new 1.30 has a much different script written, since it added a secondary pool I just added the SSL of us2.ethermine.org. In one configuration I removed all the POOL2 sections from the whole script. Even tried using the ETH mining script from 1.28, but the results were always the same as above. It stops before it even starts with no error messages. Happy to give any further info you think might work.

i cant get the new 1.30 version to run is it real 1.28 runs great on my windows machine , but 1.30 just says setting up miner and nothing else , tried dif bat files still same , does it not like windows ryzen machines anymore lol.
I've run into a similar problem. Running 1.28 on Windows10 (12 x AMD 8GB RX570) without issue. But as soon as I attempt to run 1.30 it begins the setup process, waits about 10-20sec then displays "Press any key to continue..." and ends program. I also ran the new eth script that came with 1.30 and also ran the more basic script for eth from 1.28 - no go. Back to running 1.28 at this time.

Just a general question to the group. I've been reading a number of articles over the past week. With China essential throwing the market a little crazy, it sounds like ETH is going to start making the big move to 'Proof of Stake' from 'Proof of Work'. No exact timeline as to when this will occur, but it sounds like it's going to happen. (and probably sooner rather than later) So what happens to all those mining ETH? Will it no longer be possible to do once this occurs? Will what we have mined increase in value because of the move and it's harder to obtain? And what would be the next switch to mine if not ETH? ETC still holds some value and is still mine-able. But perhaps we should be mining Thoughts? Discussion?

Did you get it?
also you can use nvidia-settings or nvidia-smi...
nvidia-smi just gave me a text readout. Didn't see way to edit anything. [edit] check that... i did see the command nvidia-smi -i $GPU -lgc $VALUE .. but just looking into it a little more before messing with anything nvidia-settings brings me to a nice nVidia GUI that I can go through. but none of the settings are editable. (greyed out). at least they were until I stumbled upon this setting to modify the xorg.conf file to add in "coolbits 28". Now the nvidia-settings can be changed a little. I can modify the fan (which was one of my biggest things) Now just trying to see if I can play with the clock/mem settings at all I should add, this is a nVidia Quadro P1000 with 4GB of ram. nothing crazy. It's currently getting 7.51mHs. just trying to figure out how to tweak the power/cor/mem to get a little more out of it

Trying to skim through this massive thread, but not seeing anything yet.
Typically I use AMD and Windows. And that has extra tools like Afterburner or AMDTweak. Good control over the cards (clock/fan) and gives a little extra boost. Understanding of flashing the bios.
I have another computer using Ubuntu with nVidia. Are there tools similar for nVidia cards? To either give greater control over the card or to give a boost? Not new to lolminer, just new to the nVidia half of it.

So just to continue on my journey and share with the other noobs out there. I have (2) rigs. Each with (12) AMD rx570 8GB cards. I took the advice and while still on Windows, backed up the current GPU BIOS and then continued to perform the one-step GPU bios mod. It was a lot easier than I had thought it would be. And feel better with the original BIOS on hand if needed. I used: GPUZ (to view/read the GPU and also to backup the original BIOS) PolarisBiosEditor 1.7.5 to load the original BIOS and click the one-step patch. Save as the new modded BIOS. Saved both to a USB stick. Then with the high recommendation I moved off Windows and went with HiveOS. I have to say, I really do like the setup. Everything on one screen. And a lot easier to manage. It's even easier to flash the BIOS as I as able to upload the (2) versions of the BIOS, select all the cards and flash. Reboot and away I go. (of course with overclocking settings in place) I was getting approx 21-22mhs per card. With this new setup I'm currently getting 30mhs - 31.5mhs So thanks to those that helped. It's nice to get it back up where it was when I was running Claymore previously.
Just noticed something and have an email into HiveOS about this. Am I correct that under the free account I should be 'free' up to (5) workers/rigs? I've been running off one rig/worker for a week and noticed that it was telling me it was free. But this morning i added the second rig/worker and it's now showing $0.04/day [a day left] Just need a little help explaining that. I thought that with the (2) workers it would still be free. and to top it all over, the rig/worker I just added seems to reboot [lolminer reboot] every handful of minutes
So HiveOS is great. Especially if you're looking to put all the rigs in an easy to access, single window and monitor and maintain. Unfortunately in my current environment I have some security problems accessing their HiveOS pool, so if I have more than (1) rig, I'll have to pay a little per day. But it's not a huge cost. I reverted one rig back to Win10. So now I'm running one of each. Both have GPU modded BIOS. Both rigs run (12) cards. Both are running the same overclocked settings. The Windows Rig runs a total of; reported = 377mhs & current = 387mhs The HiveOS rig runs a total of; reported = 374mhs & current = 337mhs I'm actually a little surprised. I had thought that the HiveOS/Linux OS would have helped it run a little faster, but it's actually not the case. Windows, with all it's issues, is actually running better. I still have to go in and tweak a few settings as my stale shares rate is still under 1% but it seems to be going up the longer I leave it.

Thanks to both dext-r and jgonzi Completely missed that one. I should've known I was attempting to roll back drivers to the AMD blockchain drivers and Win10 was having none of that causing other issues. Reverted back to another image and left the drivers alone, but completely forgot about the pixel patcher. So re-imaged, pixel patched, rebooted. All is good.

Here's an interesting thing.
I moved to HiveOS, flashed (via Hive) all my GPU to the modified bios.
One on rig, I wanted to switch it back to Windows for some general testing and comparison. Loaded up Windows, but none of the AMD software will recognize my cards. Win10 seems to have an issue regardless of what drivers I attempt to put on there.
So do I have to put the old BIOS back on, install the drivers AND THEN replace with the modded bios? Doesn't make sense as to what happened.
Just trying to figure this out.
