1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Official Anoncoin chat thread (including history) on: October 14, 2014, 05:09:34 AM
Man sometimes I see people posting logos and designs and think to myself, what if I also only think that I'm good at this stuff but that I actually suck like all these other guys. Then going and asking for donations too... damn.

Everyone thinks their design is good, or they wouldn't post them. This includes you.

The reason I would ask for donations (again, upon completion and utilization, and primarily to further work on other content) is due to my extremely limited stake in the coin. I currently hold very little BTC or ANC, and it becomes a matter of where I should invest my time.

The point of working on a logo to begin with is to possibly come across a better design that could enhance the value of the coin itself by giving it a better and cleaner look than it currently has. This is only a first version, and an iteration of it actually has some design elements that you used in your own design. Lastly, it was a friend of mine who asked me to make a new logo about two weeks ago - I'm merely late to the party.

Hey guys,

I made an alternate logo as I feel the existing one sort of... leaves a bit to be desired.
The intention is to improve the image of the coin as, while it has fantastic technology being implemented behind the scenes, I think we need something cleaner and more effective to market it as a more 'professional' cryptocurrency.

Willing to take any suggestions as well - the color scheme could probably be improved, for example.

It can be used provided i'm allowed to accept donations for it.
I'll post a donation ANC address if it's used.

I'm also willing to re-do any other graphics for marketing or anything else of relevance.

I've spoken with both Tabali as well as Bitforesters (one of the developers) as of a few days ago and there is indeed progress being made.
The old developers are back in active development, but Tabali has taken over the PR role.

Sweet! So Tabali, what can we do now? You have a few of us here and I bet quite a few lurkers. So Lets get the community rolling again!
I have a faucet I payed for and I think the 1mo hosting is about to expire, I don't have any btc to pay for the .08btc hosting right now. Maybe we can get some donations to keep it up, and then start promoting again with links to the faucet. looks like there is still 1400mast in it http://mastcoin.altcoinfaucet.net/ http://mastcoin.altcoinfaucet.net/stats/

I think we need to come up with an acronym for MAST that everyone agrees on.

I thought Mixed Anonymous Secure Transactions

In essence, the acronym could serve as an easy way to explain why MAST is set apart from other coins, and in addition, give meaning to the name as someone had pointed out earlier.  I don't want to be the final say on this, so please everyone voice your opinions!

I believe if we give "MAST" some meaning, moving forward as a community will be much easier.

Chris

I think that works quite well.

On the other hand, the benefits of remaining somewhat vague is that we aren't limited by the types of features we can integrate in the future without being concerned about affecting the existing branding. We have to ensure that the name can accommodate for additional features that fall outside the bounds of that acronym. If we intend to remain as a coin that specifically focuses on anonymous and secure transactions, then I believe that would work rather well. However, it may be better to find some sort of compromise, but I'm not sure that can be found.

I do believe we should have some sort of acronym, however. It only hurts us from a marketing point of view if the name and branding is completely divorced from the coin's feature set.

I agree with your sentiment exactly.  My thing is, I think since there is no "company" that has a "board" to answer to, when the community gets antsy and impatient, bugs can cause developers to abandon projects rather than answer to an angry community.

While this is not the best response, it seems there is little room for error from the expectations of the community when the devs essentially get no beta-testing phase and have to many times release untested software.  The reactionary nature of this free market is probably very scary and intimidating to developers, so I can truly understand why they just cut and run sometimes.

Now, this project has promise in my opinion.  It also seems to have a large community full of reasonable and knowledgeable people.  I understand the anticipation factor that comes with being involved in cryptos, but I think if the Mast Developers understood that the community IS legitimately behind them, it might make them come back or hand over the project more willingly.  They seemed to be pretty transparent about most things up until this last week, so I am hoping they help resolve this situation.

Hi Chris,

The current developers have historically been most active in the #mastcoin irc channel on freenode. Could you by any chance hop in? They're currently idling in the chat, but otherwise inactive. I'm sure the best method to get in contact with them would be via those means.
Much of the community is also resident there, and thus for a broader and more responsive audience I'd recommend establishing a presence in the IRC channel.

Anyway, I'm very happy that another team is taking interest in the coin. As we currently understand it, we have generally had an exposure problem rather than any other sort of issue (which I believe is largely responsible for the lack of developer activity), and thus would welcome input in that regard as well.

Thank you for your time,

Nebulaz
