1  Other / Meta / Re: Make bitcointalk.org great again: Add a gaming board, already! on: June 18, 2024, 06:59:17 PM
There are some boards like Politics & Society and Serious Discussion that have a good amount of activity despite not being taken into account for most signature campaigns. If there was enough demand, it will be possible to someday have a dedicated gaming board.

The reason why some of these off topic discussions don’t get much attention is because users are just trying to meet their signature quota and don’t have much time for other discussions that might be interesting but there isn’t a financial benefit involved.

Yep. It's all about the signature campaigns.

What if bitcoin becomes so successful that game companies start accepting payment of microtransactions with bitcoin?

I'm sure the demand would be high then. Why not be ahead of the game and add the gaming board, then?
2  Other / Meta / Re: Offensive names in the Forum on: June 14, 2024, 05:15:23 PM
I think this has got to be one of the funniest thread's I've read in my LIFE  Grin.

But for real, these psychopaths naming themselves these things should not be able to.

The guy who did hitler420 knows EXACTLY what he doing lol, and should be banned.
3  Other / Meta / Re: Make bitcointalk.org great again: Add a gaming board, already! on: June 14, 2024, 12:50:06 PM
We have no way to get a stat unless we have a board.

That sounds like a challenge to Loyce and Ninja!   Grin

I'm assuming these are staff members capable of adding new boards?

If so, I would love to hear their input on it.   Cool

Also, don't forget to vote in the poll guys!  It's important if anyone wants a videogames board on this forum.  It shows staff the possible demand for it.
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Don't forget to HODL your BTC on: June 13, 2024, 07:19:48 PM
This post is cute.  I love the passion.

I'm curious as to the history of the word HODL.

Where did it come from, sir?

Also, what is HODLnaught?

I've seen this before too.
5  Other / Meta / Re: Make bitcointalk.org great again: Add a gaming board, already! on: June 13, 2024, 06:47:15 PM
Sorry I was away for some time, I finally get to respond to some of you guys.  I really appreciate the discussion and arguments from both sides.  This is exactly what I was hoping for and couldn't be more thankful for everyone participating.  🧡

The forum is old-fashioned, although an influx of new young blood in the form of young people interested in both gaming and Bitcoin could revitalize it nicely

You hit the nail right on the head.   Smiley

I would really like a thread to see my fellow COD (Call of Duty) online video game players interact with one another.

Go to Off Topic, create a new topic called "Join my Call of Duty Team!" and I think you might be surprised at the interest.

Due to the scam presence/leadership on this forum, most people tend to keep their interests secret.  But most gaming platforms have inherent security, so all you can get from a username is that - the username.

This is a good point.  ☝🏻

Based on this thread, you are the only one.  :/

Comon fellow gamers.  Rise up!   Cheesy

Everyone is entitled to their own and what they want, so to me, it's not just about being obsessed with the game; it's also about trying to engage in conversation with people who also like the same thing as you.

Exactly!   For years, I tried to engage users here in some online play and discussions; just had a few takers.

Wouldn't it be great to identify some of our favorite games and start up Bitcoin teams?

OMG Bitcoin e-sports teams 😄.  Can you imagine the possibilities, Vod?! 😮

We have no way to get a stat unless we have a board.
For example, users like me and you are so addicted in the forum, if we have something to discuss about gaming, we surely know that there are no place for it, we are not going to bother to create a topic in off-topic. But if we had a board then we would had a different mindset.

Precisely!  It is all psychological.

I'm sorry. I understand how anyone could vehemently vouch for something they really wanna have around, but.... I'm afraid Theymos doesn't even wanna bring in any form of distractions, regardless of whether it's a unanimously suggested or not, talk more of this coming from just you alone? ...

You make solid counterarguments.  I agree that some people on here are only here to help their personal life.  I don't think that another board will distract those who are here for serious issues.  It is up to them to click on the board, just as it was up to them to click on bitcointalk.org in the first place.

Gaming, historically, has been painted in such a bad way in terms of being a distraction.  In moderation, just like everything else, it can be a wonderful outlet and a door that opens into social connections if one has trouble making social connections IRL.  I can't be the only one who has like one or two IRL friends and the rest of my friends are online, lol. 🤣

It's not about the problems gaming can solve for people, it's about opening an untapped community.  There are so many bitcoiners who are gamers...and they don't have a board to talk about it except for gambling.  Not good.
6  Other / Meta / Re: Make bitcointalk.org great again: Add a gaming board, already! on: June 11, 2024, 07:52:34 PM
<snip>
That's worth exploring cause it doesn't hurt anyone to add it, but I don't share your enthusiasm that it will have a significant effect on Bitcoin or bitcointalk. Anyone who finds their way here are already interested in Bitcoin and can now explore other sectors of the forum, I guess it can keep the attention span of some users and reduce the ratio of new registrations who never actually use the forum, but that's just an assumption.

To the process of adding a new board, there needs to be sufficient traffic of discussions around that particular subject scattered around different other boards. This shows there is demand and a new board will actually be used and not just go inactive.

Exactly!  It's worth exploring at the very least and it wouldn't hurt anyone to add.  I don't blame you for not sharing the same enthusiasm as I do.

As far as the process of adding a new board, does anyone know if there is any evidence that people actually want a videogame related board?
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Don't advice anyone to invest on Bitcoin if he doesn't have Alt. income on: June 11, 2024, 07:40:59 PM
I received my first couple BTC by selling a video game code that came with one of my graphics cards.

Funny you mentioned that you got your first BTC from selling a code to an actual video game.  I'm trying to convince these people we need a videogame board/child board but it's slowly killing me as we speak.   Cry
8  Other / Meta / Re: Make bitcointalk.org great again: Add a gaming board, already! on: June 11, 2024, 07:33:36 PM
How does gaming culture help mass adoption of Bitcoin?

A gaming board on the front page right above or below Off-Topic would make this place ten thousand times better, and more friendly to newer on-boarders.  Who, demographically speaking, will be majorly consisting of 13-21 year old males.  13-21 year old males love to play video games.  Give them a place to talk about it, and perhaps they will find the beauty in bitcoin like we all have.

Why non-gambling/non-crypto game developers don't run signature campaigns on here is a mystery to me.  This place is the first website started by the guy who created the future of money.
They probably don't think they have enough of their target audience here to run a campaign and advertise their products.

It's not about "enough" of a target audience, it's "who" the target audience is.  There are many wealthy forum users on here.  Many.

Also now that I think about it harder, and digesting what people have said so far, I think a "child board" inside of off-topic would be the best place to put a gaming related board.

9  Other / Meta / Re: Make bitcointalk.org great again: Add a gaming board, already! on: June 11, 2024, 07:26:23 PM
Here most of us refer to online gambling as gaming and there's a dedicated sub-board to online gambling on this forum.

That's a serious issue, because the rest of the world defines gaming as getting a pentakill in league of legends. Not getting lucky at roulette.

I personally think this place is key to the mass adoption of bitcoin, so naturally assimilating with true gaming culture in any way would help not only bitcointalk.org but bitcoin as a whole.

Something as simple as adding a "Videogames" or "Gaming" board could be a great first step in doing that, no?
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Robinhood purchases the bitcoin price watcher for WO BitStamp for 200 Million on: June 11, 2024, 07:17:08 PM
That's exciting.

A lot of people from my job that used crypto for the first time used it through Robinhood. Good to see they are doing something that could benefit their clients.

Some of them hold all of their crypto on Robinhood though, which I try to tell them isn't a good idea but you guys know how that conversation ends up with normal people lol.
11  Other / Meta / Re: Make bitcointalk.org great again: Add a gaming board, already! on: June 11, 2024, 07:10:06 PM
What does gaming have to do with cryptocurrencies? Did Ubisoft create a crypto game? There are many crypto casinos but not crypto games, so there is no need to create a separate board for gaming. Bitcointalk with its old-fashioned design can't attract 13-21 years old gamers, this place is not a Reddit. This is an old forum dedicated to cryptocurrencies. It has all boards that are related to discussions around Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies. Sorry but gaming will remain in off-topic.

If I was a non-gambling/non-crypto game developer, I would still definitely run a signature campaign on here.  Why non-gambling/non-crypto game developers don't run signature campaigns on here is a mystery to me.  This place is the first website started by the guy who created the future of money.  It doesn't matter that gaming has nothing to do with crypto, that's why it should be under "Other" where off-topic is.  It needs to be seen on the front page because it's too big to just be one thread in off-topic.

Where is the gaming board?
People on this forum are discussing mostly about gambling and not gaming.

Because there is no place to talk about non-gambling videogames...
12  Other / Meta / Re: Make bitcointalk.org great again: Add a gaming board, already! on: June 11, 2024, 06:58:58 PM
Where is the gaming board? Seriously.
Did you use your search button? Or you just assume there is none.

Check out this link; https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=56.0

You're lucky I like your signature, otherwise I'd roast you with words. >_>

Did you use your eyes?  You just did the same thing as the guy I referenced in my OP!   Angry

Videogames =/= Gambling

Did you use your search button? Or you just assume there is none.

Check out this link; https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=56.0

Op is referring to video gamings not casino based games. But Like op said, such boards can be placed on the off topic board. Or just rather create a thread there where you can discuss gaming.

Oh thank God, someone gets it.

@Hatchy, in my opinion, videogaming is too big of a topic to just have one thread on.  That's why I said not to mention off-topic.  It needs an entire board in my opinion.   Smiley
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will Bitcoin look like in the future? on: June 11, 2024, 06:52:41 PM
bitcoin is going to be (if it isn't already lol) the premier alternative to cash.  It will also be the key to freedom and self-custody that comes with that freedom.

Crystal ball will tell you everything else, because bitcoin is here for the long game and I can't think that far into the future for my own good.
14  Other / Meta / Make bitcointalk.org great again: Add a gaming board, already! on: June 11, 2024, 06:44:49 PM

Gaming =/= Gambling

It's a shame that I bring this up and the first thing someone says is "Oh yeah gaming? Sure go to the gambling board!"

What the heck?  Angry

I'm talking about a place for us bitcoiners to talk about videogames.  Gaming is a large enough category to have it's own board, so don't say "Oh just use off-topic".  I'm talking about a place to talk about League of Legends, World of Warcraft, CS:GO, Minecraft, Fortnite, Genshin Impact, Maplestory, Roblox, Apex Legends, SMITE, etc... you know, actual games? A place to share screenshots, wins, losses, funny moments, etc.

Gaming culture is of the internet
Bitcoin is money of the internet
Some of the first people to mine bitcoins were gamers on their old-school gaming laptops.

What do you guys think?

...because this generation of gamers, and the rest to come, are simply born to learn bitcoin.  You can't convince me otherwise.  Where is the gaming board?
 Seriously.
15  Other / Meta / Re: Is this forum getting worse and worse? on: June 11, 2024, 06:37:55 PM

THIS GUY REALLY THINKS IM TALKING ABOUT ANOTHER GAMBLING BOARD.
NO. GAMING =/= GAMBLING.
JESUS CHRIST.

I meant gaming like CS:GO, League of Legends, World of Warcraft, etc...

You wanna know what's wrong with this place? It's been poisoned and consumed by gambling advertising. It's one of the largest sources of spam, nonsensical posts, and posts that feel like people are just shouting into the air instead of actually contributing to a goddamn fucking conversation.

It's so frustrating.
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Trump vs. Biden is almost like Bitcoin vs Fiat on: June 11, 2024, 06:21:59 PM
Not necessarily,

Kennedy was a democratic candidate and wanted to put the entire U.S. money system on a blockchain.

Wondering why we chose Biden over Kennedy  Roll Eyes
17  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: 🟧⚡❤️ Redivivus - A social network powered by bitcoin. 🌎 [PRE-ALPHA] on: June 09, 2024, 12:27:41 PM
Despite issues surrounding the parts Vod responded to on his last post [e.g. protection and detection], you can count me in for the testing phase...

Beautiful!  Go ahead and make an elon.report account and send me a bitcointalk.org private message telling me what your username on elon.report is.  I'll let SeeBiscuit know and he will send you an invite to Redivivus.  I know SeeBiscuit will have a few things for you to test out.

Warm regards,
~JusticeSolus

Also,

I'm not defending them or anything but it can also be interpreted that the posts in this forum isn't fully genuine or totally human anymore and that it's possible that they're also talking about the part where the forum has so many signature campaigns running that most people that are a part of it aren't doing the right thing which is taking their time to post and then appreciating a discussion.

You hit the nail right on the head.   Smiley

Does anyone else want to join the pre-alpha stage of Redivivus?
18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The absolute insanity Congress is writing now... on: June 08, 2024, 03:59:21 PM

The only thing that this legislation is going to do is to make it harder for US people to use crypto.

As if it wasn't hard enough already.

There will be a day where the common man will have to struggle a lot just to be able to buy bitcoin in the first place.

They will create hoops and hoops to jump through, and it'll feel like going to the damn DMV just to buy bitcoin, use bitcoin, whatever.

I'm telling people to buy BTC now while they still can, and they look at me like I'm crazy because the "price" is so "high".  Roll Eyes
19  Other / Meta / Re: Let's make bitcointalk great again. on: June 08, 2024, 03:52:00 PM
There should be an entire board dedicated to gaming.

Some of the first people to mine bitcoin in history are gamers on their old-school gaming laptops back in the day.

Why is there no gaming board?

It's a massive part of internet culture, and bitcoin is money of the internet.

Many bitcoiners I know today are gamers and play games and use discord and all that.

Thank you.   Cheesy

I had started a poll, but that pmprefs section tip does exactly that.

* = Pm's off and then taking it away = pm's on.
