1  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Help! on: July 13, 2024, 07:29:16 AM
Restoring Samurai's seedphrase shouldn't do anything if the funds were sent to the address generated by Trezor wallet. From my understanding that's what you did, right? you linked your trezor device to Samurai's wallet?

But since you're saying you tried using Trezor Suite Lite (which is nothing but a watch-only wallet for trezor) is still not showing you any balance, I'm starting to think that the wallet you sent the funds to, may not be the Trezor device. Have you checked the generated addresses?
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: German Government completely sells off all its bitcoins. on: July 12, 2024, 08:26:01 PM
I see some people reporting that on Twitter but is it considered as sold simply because the funds are no longer in their cold wallet which is what the Arkham intelligence page is checking from my understanding? I mean the bitcoin could simply be sitting on whatever exchange they sent the funds to, and still have not been sold yet. Right?
3  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Win 7 - electrum-3.3.4.exe file missing on: July 12, 2024, 06:42:53 PM
Installing the latest version should do the trick, you have nothing to be worried about. Just make sure you're doing it from the official website: https://electrum.org/#download

You could not recover the wallet on Coinomi because Electrum's seedphrase is not a BIP39 seedphrase.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Why is Coinbase Preventing Me From Sending My Crypto Assets? on: July 12, 2024, 04:58:35 PM
Or he can also ask his nephew to request an XRP address from his Coinbase account, and he should try sending it through there since it's the same exchange. Their system should be able to detect it as an internal transfer, saving him the fee he is trying to avoid.

I thought that's what he meant by saying he tried to send the funds from his Coinbase account to his newphe's account. I suggested using a non-custodial wallet just to confirm that the problem has nothing to do with the account or address he's trying to send to, but rather Coinbase's systems.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Why is Coinbase Preventing Me From Sending My Crypto Assets? on: July 12, 2024, 04:19:30 PM
Does Coinbase have a feature to send from one account or another? Are you using his email, or some kind of tag? If so, and although I doubt this would work you can try is to send to a non-custodial wallet of his, and see if that works or changes anything.

According to this [1] all operations seem to be normal. So if the above doesn't work, your only hope would be to contact them

6  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Which exchange in the UK has the Lowest fees for buying (only) Bitcoin on: July 12, 2024, 12:03:29 PM
I have read that Kraken withdrawal fee is cheap but I have not used the exchange before. I do not know about the trading fee.

I prefer to use OKX for bitcoin withdrawal. I think OKX is allowed in UK?

But if you are not the person that trade often but in just few time and you want your coins to be in your wallet after each trades, you can use http://exch.cx/. The exchange also support lightning network.

For small amount and if you are willing to use lightning network.  Binance, BitMart, OKX, Kucoin, Bitget and some other exchanges have lightning network payment.

I think OP is looking for fiat exchanges, and not crypto ones. I'm not sure that the ones you mentioned are considered as great exchanges "for fiat"? compared to Kraken, Coinbase, or CoinCorner (UK based). I think a few of them no longer support UK either (after the new regulations pushed by the goverment).
2024 on: July 12, 2024, 10:40:47 AM

https://b.tc/conference/2024

BitOasis on: July 12, 2024, 10:32:06 AM

9  Economy / Speculation / Re: What is the overall market sentiment and how can I keep track of this? on: July 12, 2024, 08:13:02 AM
I guess the Fear and greed index could be a good indication of the current sentiment.

The original one (AFAIK): https://alternative.me/crypto/fear-and-greed-index/
CMC's: https://coinmarketcap.com/ (Top right corner)

Needless to say, the crypto market is unpredictable. One news article is can be enough to send us to the stone age, or to the moon.

https://revoke.cash/

11  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum Seed Phrase Reduce from 12 to 11. How Possible is it? on: July 10, 2024, 04:39:34 PM
I received a message containing the seed phrase from OP.
I entered the seed phrase on electrum and it was invalid. I replaced the word "staff" with "stuff" and it became valid, but the wallet was empty and there was no transaction history.

uche6215, now you should consider your wallet compromised. Don't send any fund to that.

Same thing here. I have received a message from OP containing the seedphrase. I haven't tried replacing any words, and it was invalid.

As mentioned above @uche6215. A seedphrase is not something you should be sharing with anyone. Whether you manage to access the wallet or not, you should stop using it, and create a new one.
12  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum Seed Phrase Reduce from 12 to 11. How Possible is it? on: July 08, 2024, 11:15:33 AM
I don't believe that's possible. You're saying you typed 11 words, and the button is now clickable. Have you checked if that resulted into the same address as yours?

You're not going to "take anyone's wallet" even if its accepted, but I also don't think that Electrum would accept 11 words as a valid seedphrase to start with.
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Waiting for almost 3 days of my bitcoin transaction to be confirmed on: July 06, 2024, 04:43:36 PM
How much fees did you pay? If you don't know, you can share the transaction hash (If you'd like). I'm not sure how good is Blockchain.com's wallet at estimating fees, but you can take this as a reference next time: https://mempool.space/
14  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Electrum wallet] Amount too small to be received onchain on: July 06, 2024, 01:37:48 PM
How much are you trying to receive? (You might mixing things up between mBTC and BTC?) From the error, I'm guessing you're trying to create a request/invoice? You don't need to do that, you can just go to the addresses tab, and give the address to the person who's going to send you the money. You should be fine.
15  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will the Bitcoin decline caused by Mt. Gox find support around $52,000? on: July 05, 2024, 11:40:18 AM
Bitcoin started dropping as soon as the on-chain data showed that 2.7B has moved from the Mtgox cold wallet so as people start to get their money and selling it, I would imagine it will drop even further. But then it depends on how they're planning to distribute this. AFAIK, they have a 90 days window (deadline to give everyone their money back) but whether they're planning to give it all now, or not is something we don't know.
16  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Trying to trace someone on: July 05, 2024, 08:36:23 AM
I guess I will have to explain the long story.

I did have his email address and spent 3 years communicating with him, the last time was in 2020. At this time, BTC trading with other people's money was illegal without a license as he was based in North America. He was extremely sensitive to this and would often change his contact details (I'd been through two of his already)

The only other person who knew him was a friend, who I believe, died from Covid complications.

So yes, I agree with all of your answers. It was a stupid thing to do. Its really a shot in the dark and maybe I should just abandon the chase.

Do any of you know which tracing firms I might be able to use ?

Thanks in advance

As I have mentioned above, there's is really nothing you can do if he scammed. You can try and contact your local authorities, but unless the amount is big enough, and you're from the same country as him (which appears to not be the case here) they may not be able to do much to help either. Sending him a message through a transaction as I suggested above is not going to be of any help obviously, whether he sees the message or not, after all.. if he scammed you, he's obviously not interested in talking to you.
17  Local / العربية (Arabic) / Re: Mtgox و اعادة البيتكوين لأصحابها on: July 05, 2024, 08:21:50 AM

https://platform.arkhamintelligence.com/explorer/entity/mt-gox

18  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BTC wallets security on: July 04, 2024, 12:45:35 PM
Definitely not something you need to worry about. There have been countless discussions about this on both Reddit (here's an example[1]) and here on the forums.

Now even assuming it's possible, why would someone try and bruteforce anything 10 years ago when bitcoin was worthless? I'm guessing that's the argument you're making? Since it's been 10 years, and now wallets are moving funds, you think someone was trying to crack the wallets during all of this period?

19  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Trying to trace someone on: July 03, 2024, 07:12:46 PM
Can you check the address on blockchain.com to see if he's still receiving or sending money? A bitcoin address does not expire but this could give you an idea on whether you can expect a response or not.

If the address is still making transactions and assuming his address does not belong to an exchange, the only way I could think of is to try and send him a message using OP_return (give the subject more reading) and check this

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5436057.0

This obviously doesn't guarantee he would even notice it but.. Aside from this, can't really think of any other way to contact the individual with nothing but a bitcoin address.

If the individual whom you're trying to contact scammed you... Then this is another story. You're better off reaching out to law enforcement.
BitOasis on: July 03, 2024, 04:12:35 PM
