1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] Darkcoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | Darksend Is Live! on: September 18, 2014, 03:17:21 PM
I know it's overall a good thing if instant transactions can be copy pasted by Bitcoin, but I wish it could be only for Bitcoin and Darkcoin, not all the shitcoins that can just add it.

It's a tremendous value that, if successful, Evan will create without having the whole benefits of it.

Consider Bitcoin benefiting in the same way that Evan benefited when the bitcoin codebase was there and available on the day Evan decided to fork from it and create something that would one day come to really be something great. As for the shitcoins, they can't fork Evan Cheesy

Also, you forgot about everyone's favorite lone developer:

Wrong, you didn't read, it's all there. Stop the trolling, bitch.

The community is tired of your antics. What ya gonna try next?

Maybe another press release? hah! Cheesy
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BCX Monero FUD: A Resume of the LIE (bitcoinexpress is a liar and fud queen) on: September 17, 2014, 09:58:15 PM
Why would you call the guy a scammer and use his words to defend the coin in the same sentence? Also, why not just post this in a thread about the topic that already exists? Do you need a new topic every single time you want to say something?

Also, you forgot about everyone's favorite lone developer:

Are we affected of what ? He didn't say anything concrete. Atm it looks like classic FUD, because i can't see any other goal behind this post.

But still, every cryptocurrency has a possibility to have flaws - with his post or without, devs should always keep our eyes open. We do.

I think you're getting scared that your taunting will yield nothing.

how it is possible for a locally encrypted wallet to be compromised is beyond me.
conveniently he says there is a workaround to this unlikely result that just happens to require losing the anonymity
however, it also seems unlikely that losing anonymity will solve any wallet stealing

without any specifics, this is artful FUD

It might almost be possible to prove that a local wallet cannot be stolen externally via the blockchain unless the encryption of the wallet is cracked and that the wallet contents are somehow able to be transferred to the attacker! I can see the theoretical possibility of unspent funds being spent without the wallet, which is what happened to XCP. Still for someone to be making such claims, he is either the top cryptonote dev in the world or it is FUD

James

I thought the wording was strange as well, "under the right conditions" and "To fix this, anonymity will need to be sacrificed" seem not to mix in the same sentence. The claims seem contradictory.

if you followed bcx closely for the last few years - you'd understand why.  mark my words - if he ever views monero or any other PoW as a threat to LTC god have mercy on it's soul.

Word! What has me concerned is the lack of any response from any the xmr team refuting this. Seems to me if not true they would debunk this asap.

No:

who is on damage control  Undecided

What damage? Should we react every time someone claims something? At this stage, given that there are no technical details, we can only assume that it may be true or it may be false. And, thus, do nothing until something tips the evidence either way.

If they spent all of their time addressing every single unicorn claim lacking any technical detail about some dooming flaw, then they wouldn't really get anywhere. They're not after your money and they're not gonna pander to investors. Anyone buying this knows it's alpha level software and the value could go to zero tomorrow.

If legitimate technical details surface, then they will be shared as anyone would hope. Just as they've done in the past.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 17, 2014, 09:14:30 PM
As to credibility, he's found exploits before, and used them before. However, he also likes to come on the forum and pad his ego.

he talked about this specific exploit in july and no one cared. we will see how this works out. maybe he is right but I do not see his motivation in what he is doing

No, he talked about a difficulty adjustment exploit. This one's new.

I'll be looking through his posts to find what we're both talking about, and update it here. Unless you get to it first.

here it is: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=522235.msg7998410#msg7998410

here again: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=522235.msg8020920#msg8020920

No mention of a keyring exploit.

...
in the meantime this offers a chance for people to make some gains by trading between these assets

If you're really as anti-troll as you're claiming, then please address this issue below. Nobody knows if it's FUD trolling or fact, and I figured someone of your potential would be able to address this. My concern is that BBR is a CN coin, and would have the same fatal flaw:

* I have found very specific exploits in CN that have not been fixed that would be successful on XMR. Most are what I call annoyance attacks, that would be fixed and the coin would probably survive, but one is a coin killer. In XMR there exist a flaw involving the keyrings that under the right conditions will allow an attacker to steal your wallets and hijack your addresses. To fix this, anonymity will need to be sacrificed. These exploits are why two top exchanges who have asked for my opinion have not added XMR.

what's dec 6th?

Just part of the same sequence that the coin has adhered to within ~90% since its inception. Time will tell me if i'm wrong, and in fact I've actually lost money on trying to prove myself wrong doing so.

This is what pisses me off so bad.  Cryptonote is the ONLY alt I've actually been excited about.  But the energy behind it was largely wasted - it would've had enough inertia by now to likely have unseated ltc if it had been a fair launch from the beginning.  And the original creators would've been much better off than they are left holding bags of their mega scam.

It set the entire possibility of a legit solid anon coin back ... a long way

Let it piss you off. I've said it from about the first ten posts since I've been here, they only want your tears. Nothing more.

Consider the stunted excitement as part of a process that otherwise would have been premature. You know this, just as well as anyone buying this knows this. Without it, I would have walked away months ago.

Remember, CZ himself made the statement that most likely the creators of the technology were paid by the  ones who wanted the technology. The conclusion this leads me to is that the creators of the technology found out about the plans of the ones paying them prematurely and reacted. This would explain why he needs to remain anonymous, for fear of his life or extortion. Money and world-changing events do not always invite the best of company, perhaps in this case some of the better ones took a chance on intervening..

If this is what quite a few people think it really is, then a few months are nothing to wait for. Personally, I'm waiting to see what happens around 90%, measured in days of December 6th to see the next (add: Price) event. Just me though.

see the more you look the more it stinks..

The 82% premine they're talking about belongs to Bytecoin.

it's kinda funny to watch the trolls say "Monero is a stupid clone ... should use the original" & then "Bytecoin scam 82% premine"

no way to win this one  Roll Eyes

The worst part is that Monero is comprised of so many people who would have otherwise supported Bytecoin if not for the 82% premine. Mindfuck.
