1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The problem with Bitcoin is on: June 01, 2014, 08:48:21 PM
....Both of them had heard of BTC, but both said that they had heard that Bitcoin was shut down and out of business. I tried explaining that they were probably talking about Gox being shut down, but they were convinced that it was BTC itself that had been shut down.

There is just too much misinformation out there still.

Don't think I'll ever forget the day i was told by a smug few that, "Bitcoin in Japan has crashed!  It is no more. "

People believe what they want to believe.

From my perspective, the main challenges right now are that 1. exchanges keep getting hacked, and while the thefts make headlines, the paybacks--when they exist-- are rarely publicized.

2.  "(eg, way to bypass credit card and banks expensive and inefficient services, and bypass government taxes and protectionism)"  doesn't really make any difference to small buyers/everyday users when it costs so much extra to buy in at exchanges like localbtc and the large exchanges have their trains jacked so often.  Why would consumers want to support something like that?  It's not as though most blue collar workers can afford to lose much.

tldr; If btc was supposed to help the little guy out it is now failing b/c a lot of those little guys are greedy and self-centered, just like Mr. Big Bank and Uncle Sam.

Hate to sound like a downer, but that's what it looks like from this honeybee's POV.

Let the naysayer's mouths be shut once and for all.

Received the entirety of my funds today!  It could not have come at a more appropriate time.

Thank you, IAFCU!  And thanks, Roman, for remaining true to your non-word. :X

You better hope that you exported your trade history + your account balance. Because while it's time to go to court he can just delete the database that has your account balance in it, and you have no proof that you ever deposited to the site.

Better than that i have the localtill deposit Transaction ID #, I have the Bank of America slip, and i have 1.6K missing in my personal accounts (removed as cash) the same exact day. And i have a NYDFS case submitted the next day and 3 days after that it was opened by NYDFS (this is back in april when they closed. Day they close is when i deposited.)

As i have said to them and localtill, all this is more than enough info to gather my funds. Localtill finally admitted that they "found/traced my funds" and bitfloor would credit them to my account. But then my bitfloor account doesnt log in. AND when i hit forgot password, it never sends the reset email. When i try it (password reset) with another 100% unused account i get a reset email, even though i absolutely never used this email.

Kind of feel its their way of "sticking it to me" because i reported them to NYDFS. So they block me accessing it. And block my password resets. And never respond to my emails.

Eventually this will catch up with Roman, if NYDFS decides hes playing games, away he goes (meaning court, payouts, jail, whatever the result).

All any of us care for is getting our money back, of which has been gone for 3 almost 4 months. And if someone didnt care about their money, they probably wouldnt be in bitcoin or on this forum.

Anyone feel like they are just running the clock out on us?  There has to be a limit on the amount of time that can pass before we can file. ?

Well by some magical means my account login no longer works. With about 1.6K in there it doesnt seem it will be coming out. And with bitfloor support not responded there is nothing left to do.

It is bitfloor support to help, or it is back to the New York Department of Financial Services to open a new case on Bitfloor. Goes from being a localtill problem, to being a bitfloor problem. When will it cease!

You better hope that you exported your trade history + your account balance. Because while it's time to go to court he can just delete the database that has your account balance in it, and you have no proof that you ever deposited to the site.

A screenshot of account balances/activity would be sufficient, yes?

If this shit goes through, I will withdraw my weak ass joke. Until then, Roam and steal, man, roam and steal. Tongue

Roman Shtylman can blow me, and if he does a really great job he will gain some liquidity right at the very end.

First time I've lol'd concerning this pile of steaming elephant shit.

But the general consensus is that come July all will be well.

Please elaborate.  All will be well with IW or BF?

Sorry if I missed soemthing.  I am running on about 4 hours of sleep out of 48 and fixing to crash. Of course, I had to see what was up in here first.

All my wtfs, I just can't hold them! :L

Staring at the bitfloor screen again today and no update present.
It's been 11 days
since they were supposed to be "working on a way to start returning funds".

This is becoming frustrating.

Funny thing is, the next update should be something along the lines of, "The check's in the mail".
9  Economy / Exchanges / Re: bitfloor issues? on: May 09, 2013, 07:53:35 PM
Oh, okay.  Thanks.
Well, I still don't like 'em..so there. Tongue
10  Economy / Exchanges / Re: bitfloor issues? on: May 09, 2013, 03:09:36 PM
Just so there's no misunderstanding, and in case someone reading this didn't read my full email update — my opinion right now based on all the available, credible information and the lawyers I've been in touch with is that it is still reasonable to be cautiously optimistic. We would be wise to avoid starting any legal proceedings prematurely. If any ONE of us decides to start a class action lawsuit and it turns out that Bitfloor was close to recovering and returning the funds, that will shoot us ALL in the collective foot and lose us all a lot of money unnecessarily.

So please don't consider me to be rabble-rousing. I do NOT want a lawsuit. I'm just trying to be organized, considering that so many people are affected, and all I want is to see everyone's funds returned, mine included.

You're doing great work Audenx. You are the only person who has provided me with new information and I sincerely appreciate everything you're doing. Thanks!

Agreed.  You have been more reassuring than the lawyer I spoke to.
I really appreciate your organized and well thought out approach.

As bad as I feel saying this, I think I may have to leave Roman alone when it comes to bitcoin.  His silence in this matter has been completely unacceptable.  I like his character, aside from this, and I actually understand strangeness in this form as I have been diagnosed with asperger's and play the recluse from time to time(okay, most of the time), but sometimes you just have to grow a set and say SOMETHING to your loyal customers when shit like this goes down, or hire a public rep.
Perhaps he was scared of backlash if he appeared; who knows. I would be surprised if he continued on with his crusade at this point. I still wish him well, I just think this was too unproffesional to ignore.
Edit: This isn't a threat by any means, just a thought. I didn't want to be taken wrong.
My opinion may change.  I have a bit of a soft spot for Roman.  Roll Eyes

Side note: FUCK Capital One. I have said this for years now and my stance only grows stronger as time goes by...
11  Economy / Exchanges / Re: bitfloor issues? on: May 08, 2013, 06:03:58 PM
Must have been really slow, I still haven't gotten any notification.

Same here. I've also never received any email response to the 3 support emails I've sent to Bitfloor in the last 3 weeks.

They have obviously decided that the less we know, the better it is for them.

Damnit!  Quit fucking with my optimism, reminding me of factual things and negative probabilities.  I really want to like Roman.  *Head. Sand. Now.* :/

Edit: Arstechnica piece quotes an unnamed Bitfloor spokesman as follows:

Quote
Bitfloor shares its customers' frustration with its bank's delay in providing access to funds currently in Bitfloor's account. Bitfloor has engaged legal counsel to assist in this matter. Through counsel, Bitfloor is in active dialogue with its bank and is taking all reasonable steps to facilitate the return of funds, consistent with Bitfloor's legal obligations.

Bitfloor regrets this delay, thanks its customers for their patience to date, and appeals to its customers to continue to be patient as Bitfloor works diligently to resolve this situation.

Thank you for this update.   After reviewing the youtube interview, I honestly think Roman has good intentions, but it's always good to have a back-up plan.  I hope they sort this mess out soon.  I'd like to get back into the swing of things. <3 Bitfloor.

I haven't had any experiences of this nature in my personal business life, but every time I have ever awaited a check(or other things) from the bank, they have been early, not late.

Where does Roman live? Anyone know?  NYC?
14  Economy / Exchanges / Re: bitfloor issues? on: May 01, 2013, 06:37:46 AM
ROMAN WHERE ARE YOU?? WE NEED TO KNOW WHATS HAPPENING

This.  Perhaps Roman is more of a doer than a talker.  I hope he does something quickly. I feel no sympathy, nor am i angry.  I want shit handled.
15  Economy / Exchanges / Re: bitfloor issues? on: April 25, 2013, 01:27:52 AM

Previously, if you put in an ACH request after the trading closed BitFloor would show it as processed and having left your account. Obviously it didn't actually show up in your bank. The snippet you posted simply shows that the ACH was attempted on 4/18  but on 4/23 the funds were put back into your BitFloor account. This should make you feel better as they still have a record of who had what in their accounts.

I haven't emailed bitfloor/Roman yet so I came here for a little reassurance(de-emphasis on the ASS). Tongue
So thank you, kindly. I realized after posting that the fact that they still had a record of my funds was indeed, a good thing.  I really hope this works out for them. I like their whole system.

Posted today on bitfloor's page:

2013.04.20

The bank has issued us a check for the remaining account balance. Once this check is received, we will be working to establish a way to return the remaining USD funds.

The ETA for receiving the check is around 10 days. Until then, we will be unable to make any further payouts. We are exploring various options for returning your funds.

They've really been doing a pretty good job in quite difficult circumstances.  I wouldn't be terribly concerned about getting my money.  It will take a little time, that's all - and this really isn't their fault.

So, has anyone received anything yet?   Still trying to remain positive.

I have my funds in usd on my bitfloor account, I an undergoing the verification process, but that will probably take a week. Bitfloor have yet to respond to any of my emails that I sent them, hopefully I can get my money back, this was my first time dealing with them.

I worked support a few years ago.  You might think through what would happen if everyone sends emails to them, how much delay does that cause.

new favorite smart ass.  Haven't emailed em yet, wish everyone else would chill out.

So, has anyone received their USD back from bitfloor yet this week?  As it stands now, I have not. Not saying I won't, but every day that passes doessn't make me feel any better.

just wondering...

So, who knows. But there are many reasons to be optimistic currently. Frankly, Roman might just be the most honest exchange operator, so when shit happens, we know about it. Mt. Gox could be operating fractionally for all I know. You can operate dishonestly all day long until you either get bored or something catastrophic happens.

Thank you for the info, I have only withdrawn cash from bitfloor once before this.
And I agree; still optimistic.
