Thanks. Do you have a figure for the current network hashrate? getmininginfo returns "512" which if accurate I would assume to mean 512 megahashes.

Hi, is there a flag to set the number of mining threads on the linux build?
Thanks

Welp, my plan took a dive. I'm gonna tweak my rules a bit and give it one last shot before I call it off because it's going to get lost in the pages anyway. I think the changes will open it up to a lot more miners who may have a good answer (including NEW miners).

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
BTC  5 day - 50 TH/s giveaway !!!! BTC

I want to see how well the small miners understand this and can explain it on a level where YOU(and others, including myself) fully understand it. I want that light bulb to go off and have ZERO doubt about how we are getting paid for our shares and I will donate 50 TH/s for a period of 5 days to a lucky winner.

My rules:

1- You have to have been mining on Kano's Pool with a hash rate between 1 and 20 TH/s
2- The rewarded hash has to be pointed at Kano's pool.  (to be confirmed by Kano)
3- You have to submit your answer in response to this quote and give 2 working examples including the payouts calculated.
4- padrinogtr will have to be able to explain his new understanding with his own example in response to the submitted answer and have the answer's accuracy verified by Kano.
5- New miners to the pool are welcome, though you will have had to have been here for at least the last block (this will help ramp your 5Nd up much sooner!!)

The 5 day 50 TH/s award will start as soon as I am able to see confirmation and have access to my controllers. I will of course need a worker name.
I understand this is dependent on some cooperation from others, but hey it's 50 TH/s on the line and I'm currently only running about 70 TH/s, so it's a big deal to me.

5 days - 50 TH/s .... don't let us down padrinogtr!!!!!! There was talk of others donating some hash too. If their offer is still good, that hash will be separate and in addition to the 50 TH/s I am donating.

*Of course, this is for fun and in the event of a hash rate failure, I will not be obligated to make it up as noted in prior promotions. I hope I'm not leaving out any details. I will stay active with the announcements as well as open to hearing some feedback or details that should be edited.

Thanks everyone and MINE ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll take you up on that offer Smiley Unfortunately I'm unlikely to get above 800/900 GH/s for a week or two.....  Sad Mining with the same username I use on this board.

It's not just a giveaway. He wanted an explanation of 5Nd and/or PPLNS in general... with pictures even! Shocked

So I can just copy paste the PPLNS explantions from kano.is then Wink

How about: PPS is for suckers who mine on dodgy pools - PPLNS is where it's at!

You're missing the point of the contest though.  Read the rules.

Yes I know. My replies were meant jokingly. There are probably 500 questions/complaints in the thread already - "why are my payments less than poolx", "I hash at this or that TH/s but my share stats look like they are divided by 5" etc.

S9 coming online today (provided the guy at the hosting centre can input a stratum server correctly......) So totally expect a block to be found in the next 12 hours  Tongue

Kano,

Noob here with 15TH. Do you think my payouts would be similar to other pools? I like to support the smaller pools but havent dipped into your yet.

Go back and read at least the last 4 pages. Understand how it works. Yes you will make more, but if you are into short term and jumping ship for elsewhere, you will lose.

Thanks guys, i have read a ton about the pay structor so i understand how it works. Right now on F2Pool it pays consistent just have nothing to compare.

Medium to long term you will make more here (especially compared to F2) - just don't expect lots of small earnings popping up like you are probably getting now on F2 or any of the other "big" bitmain related pools....

What a great community, awesome responses even replying to a guy with 2 posts LOL. I'll switch next payout with F2 tomorrow

Thanks for supporting a smaller pool! As you have probably already read on the kano.is page you'll need to mine for a bit over 2 weeks (based on the current pool hash rate) to ramp up to full share rewards.

Hi, 1st time poster, long time lurker for kano (2 months  Tongue).  Just saw the kanobtc twitter page and saw only a few members there.  Love the community here in bitcointalk but just wondering why only 16 active in twitter... Smiley

I hope we can all be active there and share tweets from the pool, especially the 10 BTC promo to spread the word so we can increase the pool's hash rate.. Smiley

The Twitter page, has only been active for a few days. There is a few people here, that have taken it upon themselves, to help
promote Kano's Pool. Anyone who would like to contribute towards marketing Kano's Pool, is more than welcome, to give us
a hand.

Following - any groups you think might be worth promoting the pool on?

Does this mean I have  8 x 100 USD coupons to buy more of their shit?  or am I reading that wrong?
Yep, you have 8 to use, 1 per unit purchased.  You can also donate them if you wish to the email address of another Bitmain account holder.
EDIT: You cannot use any of these coupons to buy just a PSU...
grrr i got no coupons :/
I've received an avalanche of these today - $100, $125 and $200 varieties.

Happy to take a couple off your hands Wink About to make a small batch buy.

Quick question - going to mine on under-clocked S5 (about 900 GH/S) to build up a few shares while I wait for an S9 to come on-line. Will the 900 GH/S get me above the dust threshold?

Thanks

2 orphaned blocks in 7 hours. Numerous blocks with no transaction fees.

I for one really appreciate the transparency and communication from Kano and Ck...first rate all the way!

Amen brother.  Compared to some of the shenanigans that go on in some of the other pools, it almost amazing.  Kinda sad that honesty and straightforwardness  is the exception rather than the norm.

I just checked the stats for a certain pool, 2 orphaned blocks in 7 hours plus a bunch of blocks with no transactions. SIGH :/

Thanks AriesIV10.

I've found this pool and forum support to be great.

For anyone interested I've set up a node on a VPS - https://bitnodes.21.co/nodes/104.155.37.41-8333/

Now the blockchain has been fully downloaded the latency seems pretty good. Anyway, perhaps someone might find it useful for their own applications.

Cheers

If this is legit I feel bad for this guy.  He made another post in which he sent 14BTC to someone and then wanted to know how to 'get it back' to his wallet.

It's very interesting to me that someone could come to have that much BTC in their wallet and be asking these questions.
the other 14bitcoins he sent has been confirmed, about the link of transaction-index you shared I see fees for this is 0.002703 and total output is 7.7bitcoins.
if you haven't made this transaction then it is possible that it was done by hacker/malware,try contacting kano.is support if they can help

The poster has already brought this up on the ckpool threads..... Nothing to do with the pool. As the poster has already admitted, he can't protect his wallet properly. End of story.

how can I get this BTC back to my wallet ?

ummmm.......wow

Yeah, I'm not sure if this is just an exercise in wasting people's time, or something else altogether....

yes my wallet was accesed and they transferred funds from it

OK. So either they have accessed your machine physically or remotely, or they somehow have a copy of your keys and passphrase.....

There are other software wallets, but they function basically the same as multibit. Hardware wallets would be the safest, or cloud/on-line with 2 factor auth.....and very strong passwords Smiley
20  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [9 PH] Kano CKPool (kano.is) from the cgminer devs [0.9% PPLNS] on: January 11, 2016, 11:22:59 PM
multibit.
anyone can recommend me a safer wallet ? maybe something with mail confirmation to approve an transaction ?

MultiBit should be fine...... I use it on a Linux machine (with a 30+ character password) - I can't really see how someone could make transactions from your wallet without physical access to your PC or unless it has been compromised in some way..... What OS are you running? And are you sure the payout address wasn't altered somewhere else - ie. on the miner or in your ckpool settings.....

what do you mean by "altered" ?

For example, if you are using an S3/5/7 etc someone could theoretically change the settings and mine wherever they want, or if someone has used your password to access your ckpool account they could have changed the payout address. But I think what you are saying is that someone has accessed your multibit wallet and transferred funds out....? Correct?
