1  Economy / Reputation / BitcoinGirl.Club: How a condescending attitude equates to trust exclusion on: April 20, 2024, 05:46:02 PM
Eventually, a narcissist will cross the lines that many members do not want to be transgressed and it will result in action being taken.

This particular BitcoinGirl.Club account has been a force for negativity for far too long in this forum therefore I am glad the account basically has been rendered useless when it comes to trust.

In the coming days maybe some of those members that still trust the BitcoinGirl.Club account might re-assess their position but regardless, (even though his persistent negativity and trolling deserved several exclusions) at least the trust element of the account has been removed from serious discussion.

How a condescending attitude can get you multiple trust exclusions
2  Economy / Reputation / If you were a campaign manager would you select these members for campaigns? on: April 06, 2024, 12:20:38 AM
self-moderated to keep this thread clean from trolls, attention-seekers and signature spammers

I would like to start this thread to discuss what possible logic could be applied by campaign managers when they select certain members to participate in campaigns they manage.

Some of us would have great difficulty in understanding the reason why certain members with certain types of feedback (including negative and neutral trust) along with their posting habits would be selected in any campaign at all.

You can all contribute names, in fact I request it. Having said that, I would recommend a maximum of two per post and then allow ample time for comments to discuss those names before other names are posted.

edit: As an example, here is a name to get the conversation started. If you were a campaign manager, would you select this member to participate in any of your campaigns?:

The second post in the thread is where collated names will be listed. You can post the names of any member you have seen wearing a signature that you deem to have enough dubious posts that should really warrant exclusion from enrolling in campaigns and then we can discuss

3  Economy / Gambling discussion / PARKER VS ZHANG 9th March 2024 on: March 09, 2024, 12:53:57 AM
self-moderated to keep this thread clean from trolls, attention-seekers and signature spammers

Parker
vs
Zhang

Joseph Parker beat Zhilei Zhang on a points decision. The scorecards were:

113-113
113-112
115-111

Even though Parker was knocked down in the 3rd and 8th round, Zhang did not capitalise on the chance to end the fight. Full credit to Parker for getting back his composure back to win the fight.

I think he deserves a title fight. If Joshua is being lined up to face the winner of the Fury vs Usyk fight which could run in to a trilogy, then where does Parker fit in to the puzzle?

4  Economy / Reputation / AI posts and my feedback on the borovichok account on: January 13, 2024, 02:11:09 PM
I left neutral feedback for the “borovichok” account on 22nd February 2022 because of the constant nonsense he was posting in one of my football threads. I received a PM in March 2023 (over a year later) which was when string of nonsense posts were sent to me wanting the feedback removed.

A week ago I gave a negative tag as he has moved on to either AI posts or the only plausible explanation could be that he has given access to the account to other people that have a ridiculously low understanding of English grammar or those that use some form of translator to paste replies for him. And if that were the case, why? After that, there has been a flurry of activity by him trying to get the negative tag removed.

Last year I noticed an increase in activity of this account, posting in threads and boards he would normally not and to me it was clear the intention was to get to a higher rank to join a signature campaign. There is nothing wrong with that but when you conduct dubious activity to achieve it, that certainly cannot be right.

One of the lowest gutter level things that anybody can do here is to use the name of a dead person to try to get as many merits as possible in order to try to rank up. Here is how a spammer and low quality poster somehow overnight manages to become aware of Hal Finney, apparently has photos of him participating by running in an event to raise funds.

Though not a crime for reporting unmerited good posts in associated threads, here he is trying to get more merits on an unmerited post report threads on his own posts that already have merits. He made sure he was using the name of a dead man (the amazing Hal Finney) at the top to get noticed more. He used the  Report unmerited good posts to Merit Source thread by LoyceV:

Now if that was not enough here is again trying to get merits on already merited posts using the name of Hal Finney on 17th April 2023 in the [Merit] Share your best posts/threads with Fillippone to be merit assessed by fillippone:

In the OP of that thread, he wrote one particular point that had something very interesting about it. He claimed to go on fundraising events which miraculously he never discussed before nor did he even even mention the name of Hal Finney or his illness while he was too busy spamming the gambling board. He actually claimed he was in the photos and he was running with others in that event and he covers the lie with other lies as the thread goes on:

Hal, or the Bitcoin icon as we all know him, made significant contributions to the Bitcoin community and is regarded as Satoshi by some Bitcoiners due to his involvement in Bitcoin development. He was diagnosed with ALS in 2009, fought it, and died in 2014. To honor one of the most valuable bitcoin assets, Fran Finney, the wife of Hal Finneey, launched a campaign called "RUNNING BITCOIN," which was a half marathon event to raise funds for ALS research. ENDED

That being said, I'm not sure how many Bitcointalk members participated in the event; I did (you can see me in the gallery), and since I didn't see any posts about it, I thought it would be best to bring it up and thank those who did.  Hal legacy will live for ever.

The spammer decided all of a sudden to try to hit that 500 merit mark to achieve Hero rank and went in overdrive trying to get there. There are several posts in that thread that show how manipulative some people are and the levels of their character must be so disgusting that they would fabricate entire lies about someone such as Hal Finney just in order to get merits to rank up. This is the part that sickens me.

Please correct me if I am wrong but in all his years of being a member of the forum (since 2017) he made six mentions of Hal Finney (Hal or Finney) and all were miraculously in 2023 between March and April: https://ninjastic.space/search?author=borovichok&content=hal

As soon as he had 500 merits, he was in the Stake campaign and well, that was the end of him posting in Bitcoin discussions. After that all he did was to post in Gambling board and even now, his previous 32 posts are in mixed threads mostly complaining about the negative tag yet before that, going back hundreds of posts almost all are in the gambling board. He started to post in other boards AFTER he received the negative tag. Clearly, he lied to get merits and once reached Hero rank he moved on to the Stake campaign and these are not the behaviours of those with a single account but that is a discussion for another thread on another day.

After ranking up and moving to spamming in gambling boards he did almost nothing except post about football in order to get payments from the Stake campaign and it does have hallmarks of one puppeteer operating several accounts but nothing was proven even though super-spammers "Jasad" and "CryptocurencyKing" accounts were posting replies to his “borovichok” account which was pages back yet they ignored posts that were far more recent and relevant.

He will delete anything that he can think of in order to avoid controversy, including the AI post but it was quoted: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5224503.msg63382470#msg63382470 but that is his regular pattern.

But here is the post he thought he had deleted, it is in shorted format and it is not written by the person that is using the borovichok account to post in this thread.

Stick to a player that's outstanding and confident in scoring points. Every team do triggered winning and losing, we have potentials of winning, if they do not have this hope, they wouldn't have compete or contend for any solidable points in the league. Thrilling victory is achievable and everyone has the right to be able to place wager on games. We all have choices to make and our favorites in the game. @morvillz making an exception of choosing Wilson or Flacco over Brownings bases on the tactical date examined, but the same underrated Brownings is the favorite of most viewers in the system.

What is this a fucking AI?

-------------------------

Now, in your opinion if none of this is worthy of a negative tag but just a neutral tag, it still exposes the disgusting character of the person operating the borovichok account and those dealing with him should keep that in mind. At least this thread exposed how manipulative and deranged he is in his pursuit to reach a higher rank that for the sake of merits he used the name of a dead man and his wife and to claim he went on a fundraising event that was named after the genius that is Hal Finney.

If there is serious debate and the general view (it does not have to be overwhelming consensus) of senior and respected members is that his negative tag should be removed, I will remove it and replace it with another neutral this time to cover the AI but the original neutral tag for spamming and posting replies to himself will also stay.

Feel free to post here, the thread is self-moderated because I do not want the thread hijacked by a couple of clowns that have their own agenda and motives against me who will not add anything constructive.

As always, I am very open to change any positive, neutral or negative feedback I have given to any member. I have modified/edited/removed feedback before and I have absolutely no problem in doing it again as long as that is the general view in this case.

If a precedent for AI posting is made that is always must be a neutral tag (regardless of the number of posts being made) then in future all members should never leave a negative tag for AI posting because this thread would serve as a reference that a neutral tag would suffice.
5  Other / Meta / Admin/Mods: Please ban "jvanname" on: December 25, 2023, 10:25:19 PM
Please check this post: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5478320.msg63373409#msg63373409

You refused to verify your identity by simply changing the TikTok comment? You are asking for money in advance before you verify your identity? You are a scammer.

Well, on that note after reading your nonsensical excuse to not verify your real identity, it is clear you are not whom you claim to be and you are simply tainting the name of someone you have a grudge against. You went through all this charade just for the sake of taking every opportunity in every post you made, just to ensure you posted his name thus tried to associate him with the utter nonsense you continue to post.

I have added you to my ignore list and have also left appropriate negative trust for impersonating someone from the Department of Mathematics & Statistics from a University.

Are you going to add a video to the profile here: https://www.tiktok.com/@jvanname

Are you going to change the TikTok profile from: "Ph.D. in Math. All algorithms are my own." to "The people on this site promote violence against me"

As mentioned before, the smart money is on you coming up with a multitude of pathetic excuses why will be unable modify the text of your own TikTok account but we are all ears. Well?

My services are not free. Please pay me at https://github.com/sponsors/jvanname if you want me to prove myself to you. And then please pay me at https://github.com/sponsors/jvanname for the damages that you have caused by your defamation and annoyances.

-Joseph Van Name Ph.D.

================================================

This "jvanname" account pretends to be the real Joseph Van Name Ph.D. from the University of Florida. He is asking for money before he is willing to verify his identity.

Please ban this account either for soliciting for money under the guise of hijacking the name of a reputable member of society (the real Joseph Van Name Ph.D. from the University of Florida) or for flooding the Reputation board with utter nonsense that should not be allowed to remain.

We are after all hoping to have a forum free from spam.

FURY

USYK

17th FEBRUARY 2024

A new date has been set for the Fury vs Usyk fight on 17th FEBRUARY 2024 for a fight to take place in Saudi Arabia.

Everything is at an early stage. More information will be added as it becomes available and the press conference is taking place right now.

======================

LOCAL RULE
ALL MEMBERS PLEASE NOTE:

I want to try to keep this thread clean and legible.

If you make posts that are quoting more than 2 members in a single direct reply, it will probably be deleted therefore if your main priority is to post to earn signature campaign fees it will affect your quota if your post gets deleted.

Feel free to individually quote and individually reply to each quote to as many members as you want within your post, as that is acceptable.

Some members are quoting 4+ members in their unnecessary walls of text and then making a two line post to reach their signature campaign targets to earn their fees and it is not acceptable in this thread.

Please keep this local rule in mind when posting here. Thank you.

I am looking for a reputable member that has an active LinkedIn account. I do not want to buy the account or use it for personal use but would like to make contact with someone who has a LinkedIn account for a noble cause, I will explain accordingly to the right person.

If you are at least a Full Member rank and are considered by many members in the forum as someone who has a good reputation and someone who is considered trustworthy, please get in touch.

8  Economy / Reputation / Obsessive Conduct by "BenCodie" Over A Neutral Tag on: September 08, 2023, 06:48:41 AM
self-moderated to keep this thread clean from trolls, attention-seekers and signature spammers

I have no idea what BenCodie was thinking when he created this drama under the guise of a rational thread to invite discussion. Here we see another example of somebody who has received a neutral tag and has decided to try to have it removed. What does he do? He decided to create a thread and dress it up as an outlet for intellectual debate when the intention was simply to gauge whether or not he could get some momentum behind him which (he hoped) would pressure me to removing a neutral tag.

Can you imagine that? All that effort, skulduggery and scheming on part of BenCodie for nothing except a neutral tag. Rather than post in that thread, I have created one to express sentiments regarding his obsession with the fact he received a neutral tag. I usually try not to respond to unnecessary drama or make threads to stipulate my position when it comes to members complaining about tags but once in a while someone comes along who seems to be posting directly, indirectly or subliminally in multiple threads making comments that can continue to be ignored or some response can be made. I have decided to post a response just for those that might be curious.

If (as expected) you read posts from BenCodie regarding the neutral feedback I left for him, this thread can be used a reference for those interested.

Apart from the above mentioned thread, I see he has been busy in other places, some links below:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5095156.msg62806038#msg62806038

What is clear, after he realised the comments he made in the Whirlwind thread including those when he insulted at least two very knowledgable members (after he stated he was convinced Whirlwind was a scam but applied to join their signature campaign because he did not want to miss out on the opportunity to get the weekly payouts), he tried repair the damage by posting anywhere while trying to get to that 1000 merit mark. Basically, I have no interest on whether he manages to get their or not but it obviously means a lot to him therefore the campaign against me started just because I left him a neutral tag.

After posting those unacceptable comments in the Whirlwind thread and then going on the offensive against some forum members and attacking/insulting them rather than being humble and withdraw his comments entirely, he allowed time to pass then sent this PM on 27th August 2023.  Still, full of pumping adrenalin and a larger-than-life-ego, he did not apologise but chose the I did not say that stance and has maintained it ever since.

For those that know me and have conversed with me via PM, you will attest to the fact I do reply. I think there have been just a handful of unsolicited PMs where I have not replied but the stance that he took in the PM was enough for me to not consider giving a reply, I thought it was highly condescending considering the fact it is the first (and only) time he sent a PM but you can come to your own conclusions.

For those not aware, I had to ask BenCodie several times to explain fully what he was stating when he stated he was convinced Whirlwind was a scam yet did not raise it with anybody and instead applied to join their signature campaign and not only that, he stated he did not feel it important to tell anybody. Those of us that read the posts in that thread know what he stated but I still hoped he would withdraw the comment because I did not want a drama such as this being created. Even though I did not leave a negative tag, the drama has still unfolded.

He is heading towards Legendary rank therefore that milestone could have played a part in this sudden burst of activity regarding the neutral tag. Yes ladies and gentleman, all this drama over a neutral tag. There was a trend when alt-accounts operated by account farmers were creating threads asking for negative tags to be removed but those days have long gone, it has been for far too long about neutral tags.

In a nutshell, BenCodie received a neutral tag for stating he was happy to take money from a signature campaign of a what he was convinced was a scam because he should not say no to money coming his way and because he did not feel the need to raise his concerns with those of us who thought they were promoting a genuine business.

Here are some ironies:

The first here that in retaliation for a neutral tag he has responded with an unwarranted and undeserved negative tag. Adding on to that, there are some trolls who have a habit of following me around (somewhat obsessively) and at least one of them has been reported to have added BenCodie to their trust list simply because he gave me negative feedback.

Some of the trolls have made fleeting comments but one of the trolls has even resorted on some previous occasions to posting all the names of those who have added me to their trust list effectively asking them to remove me by using some subtle and not-so-subtle mannerisms. How ironic (if true) that same member deliberately adds to his trust a second member who has given me negative trust purely on that basis and for no other reason therefore the troll is effectively pointing a neon sign on to himself asking to be excluded from members trust for applying incorrect use of the trust system. The irony.

Another irony in this situation is that BenCodie had (I believe but someone please correct me if I am wrong) given negative tag later revised to neutral to just two members of a seventeen member strong team of the bc.game signature campaign participants, on the basis the company allegedly had excessive scam accusations against them. With which logic did he apply by being an upstanding member of the community he can select 2 members from 17 to leave neutral tags. For obvious reasons the campaign manager (icopress) was not tagged because one day he might apply to join a campaign but what is not so obvious is why did he think 15 other members doing the same thing did not warrant the same tag. On the contrary, he supported icopress when he asked to be Merit Source

Another irony is that Shishir99 created a thread named Super High IQ BenCodie vs Low IQ forum posters about gambling. because the OP was condescending with his alleged higher IQ to those he concluded had lower IQ to him, therefore five days after the thread was created BenCodie left him a neutral tag for (effectively) daring to question him. How ironic he is upset that he has received a neutral tag from me.

Anyway, after several prompts from me, the OP decided to reply to my question about his disingenuous behaviour in the Whirlwind thread. After he semi-retracted with a "that is not what I said" comment rather than be humble and accept he made a mistake, I opted to leave a neutral tag **

I waited patiently for the OP to reply, if there was malice on my part I would have simply left a negative tag immediately. I gave multiple opportunities for him withdraw or retract his comment before placing the tag. From his side it seems it was a carefully thought out reason (related to signature campaigns, increasing to Legendary rank) which saw him semi-retract the comment but now he has tried to find ways of trying to have the neutral tag removed while citing even stronger than before that he never said this and never said that.

There is nothing wrong with my post but it did not warrant a reply from BenCodie:

BenCodie, please review your last few posts (including the ones where you have insulted respected members of the forum) and ask yourself if you have achieved anything constructive by using profanities and insults. I doubt it will help you when you put forward any argument to debate any matter in any walk of life therefore it should not help you here.

Also, would you like to re-think your post about you saying in your opinion you knew Whirlwind was a scam but you did two very interesting things. First, you did not post warnings about it (because you said you were not obliged to) and second, even though in your opinion it was a scam from the very beginning you did not hesitate to apply to join their signature campaign and you would have no problem with participating if you were selected.

That sort of conduct is shocking to say the least if you are stating you believed it was a scam but had no problem wanting to be part of their signature campaign.

The final irony is advice for myself and a suggestion for others to consider without prejudice. If any member posts they are happy to promote what they believe is a scam because all they want are payments (and they go on to apply/join what they believe are signature campaigns promoting scams and even go as far as to state it is not their job to effectively protect forum members by raising alarms and could not care less if forum members get scammed by services they promote), just tag them with negative trust when you see their post.
9  Economy / Reputation / Questionable Merit History From: deadsea33 on: July 21, 2023, 12:07:48 PM
The person controlling the deadsea33 account could well have been getting away with his nefarious (and non-nefarious) activities for a long time to come had he not started a thread questioning a simple matter such as a neutral tag. That thread inadvertently brought the deadsea33 account to the attention of the wider community and it was discovered he was not the person that created the account back in 2013 and for that reason he has (it seems) given up on trying to use that account.

You can view the deadsea33 merit history and decide for yourself if anything looks suspicious.

Personally I do not feel the cover/excuse that will be given for the merits being awarded will be sufficient if it is based on this thread: deadsea33's "Complete the Word Game and Get Merits" because clearly that was set up in order to find an excusable way to send and receive merits and to present it as a defence if questions were asked about suspicious merits.

The accounts that have received excessive merits and/or questionable merits from the deadsea33 account are free to post here with anything they would like to say. I have no doubt members would welcome their views and comments.

Having said that, at the time of writing this post I will not say the following accounts have engaged in anything suspicious but I will return to this thread when I have time and I will update the OP more accounts if necessary and I will tag any and all accounts I feel have participated in merit abuse.

10  Economy / Reputation / loginsam45 and his alleged alt-accounts: ltcrstrbrt, GigaBit and bluedeep on: July 21, 2023, 11:17:12 AM
loginsam45 has stated in a different unrelated thread that he has several alt-accounts and as a result some that thread is now being taken off-topic. In order to keep the conversation specific to the subject I have opted for this thread.

What can be stated is loginsam45 has not provided any evidence he was duped out of the accounts he claimed he operated. Before consideration is given to tagging all four mentioned accounts there should be a period to allow them all to reply confirming or refuting what loginsam45 has claimed.

I ask ltcrstrbrt, GigaBit and bluedeep to add their views as soon as possible. I also ask loginsam45 to explain in as much detail as possible:

1) Why he claims he operated the three accounts that were stolen from him
2) How were these accounts stolen by his friend
3) What is the forum member name of this friend
4) Why was he operating the three accounts in the first place
5) Does he have any other accounts he is still controlling/operating
6) Are speeder and Averim connected within the account farming
7) What he means when he stated he wants justice. Clarify what he means by justice

=========================================================

So, why don't you share us names those accounts that were allegedly stolen from you, but this time provide a proper evidence for your claims.
Can you help me get my accounts back if I share the names of my accounts?

@JollyGood You have taken a good initiative I think there are some other DT members including you for whom this forum no longer has trading accounts like it used to.  Such warnings will stop corruption from the forum.  I think you took strict action against those who bought and sold accounts in 2022, for which now the forum is much stronger.

In my opinion, you are no stranger or new to this forum, because you already know about trading, JollyGood and DT.
New newbies don't know anything about it, only those who have been here for a long time know all that, in future if you find alt cheats in the campaign, try to post with your main account and mark them as cheaters.
Yes you are right I am not new in this forum. I had many accounts in this forum but they are no longer under my control. My close friend cheated me and took the accounts for which I don't have high rank account now. For which I am posting with this newbie account. I have been back to the forum for three days.

This account was up for sale on the exact date it woke up.
The seller sold this account without removing or updating the selling thread. Clicking on Merit and Trust from the sell thread will redirect you to this account. Can someone verify before the seller remove the thread?
He does seem to have any posted Bitcoin address in the different boards, but I do see an Ethereum address posted back in 2017 for a bounty campaign

Irfan please update my ETH address on Blog form ( position 158)

ETH address: 0x4320379558e74800b37114848e7905695c33624A
Thank you!

Maybe the person could try using a message from the address to prove that it didn't change hands.
This account has changed hands. My 3 accounts have been taken by my friend by cheating me. I want justice for this.

Ask those who are using my accounts to sign the address message. If they can sign the address message, then I will never come to this forum again.

12  Economy / Reputation / deadsea33 has locked his own complaint thread without resolution on: July 16, 2023, 12:27:57 PM
The current owner/operator of the deadsea33 account created a thread trying to get a neutral tag (placed by hugeblack) removed hugeblack made false accusations against me. but locked it.

After the drama within the now-locked thread brought him unexpected inspection of his deadsea33 account, he has locked the thread without providing an explanation and without even defending himself against accusations as well as against the strong evidence. Of the 39 posts made in that thread deadsea33 only posted twice (#1 and #3) before locking it.

The timeline speaks volumes:

8th July 2023:
- hugeblack leaves neutral trust: Looks like this account has been hacked/bought, deleted a lot of posts, suddenly starts distributing merits, and may have several alternatives in his trust history.
- deadsea33 creates the hugeblack made false accusations against me. thread and makes two posts in that thread.

12th July 2023:
- deadsea33 locks the thread

14th July 2023:
- deadsea33 makes another post but in the SINBAD.io MIXER July Bitcoin Price Prediction Challenge by placing a guess to the value of Bitcoin in the hope of pocketing some BTC.

16th July 2023:
- still silence from deadsea33 even though he logs in to the forum account regularly including today.

==========

In the 8 days from 8th July 2023 when he started the thread against hugeblack until today, deadsea33 made just one post and it was an attempt to try to predict Bitcoin price and he locked his own complaint thread without explanation. It seems highly likely deadsea33 is not the only account under his control and he has probably accepted he cannot use it in the way he hoped with signature campaigns therefore is milking it for what he can by posting in the price prediction thread while trying to keep his other accounts unconnected.

He created the thread hoping to get momentum from members behind him to pressure hugeblack in to removing his tag but it did not work therefore he locked the thread without challenging the alternative views. Looking at the manner in which deadsea33 has conducted himself it will be difficult (if not impossible) for any member here to defend his actions.

Maybe the current owner/operator of the deadsea33 account will use this thread to give an explanation.
13  Other / Корзина / SCAM ALERT: Can someone translate this thread for the Russian board? on: July 04, 2023, 01:03:41 AM
I created this thread in the global language board regarding a scam that seems to be primarily targeting Russian language speakers. If any native Russian language speaker has time to translate the thread it might help some people avoid falling in to the trap and becoming victims.

I will ask for this thread to be translated for the Russian local board

Here is a story in the WKYUFM website that caught my eye and considering the scale of the scam I thought it deserved to be posted as a warning to others, especially to the forum members who post primarily in the Russian language boards.

There is a lot of information in the article related to the fake company, fake trading charts on a fake website, the hijacking of the name of a real company, fake linked in profiles and photographs of team members that were taken from  Shutterstock. It also has part of the investigation that takes the team to the United Kingdom to search for the elusive operators of SpireBit only to discover the name and address on the scammers spirebit.com website belongs to a completely unrelated company and director.

spirebit.com = SCAM
================================================

I would like keep this post related to the specific point in the news article about SpireBit and their claims to be a crypto investment company but in reality they are a scam.

They lure vulnerable victims via Instagram then ask to chat on Telegram. Then under the guise of friendship and advice in Russian they win the confidence and trust of their victims, enough to at least get them to send their KYC in order to open an account at SpireBit. The victims then send $500 from their bank straight via transfer directly to an account on crypto.com (that has been newly opened).

After creating a fake trading/investment chart on their website which purports to show the invest increasing the victim is duped in to sending more funds and then more and that is how it continues until the victim has no more funds to send or tries to withdraw their funds.

It seems they are seeking to initiate contact with older people who are living in the United States but were originally born in what was the former Soviet Union therefore they are targeting a certain locale and age demographic.

They contact victims by befriending them while typing and then speaking to them in Russian. In the case of the victim mentioned in the WKUFM website, he lost his life savings which were at $340,000. It all started off with a $500 investment and a fake website which showed his investment had nearly doubled within a few weeks. He was then manipulated by who he thought was his new found friend "Pavel" who talked the victim in to sending his life savings over a short period of time.

According to the news article the scammers received their funds from the account the victim was using at crypto.com. The victim sent money, converted it to which currency the scammers told him and he sent to the various wallets the scammers instructed.

When the investigators contacted all five of the companies mentioned as partners on their website, all five denied they were in any capacity at all connected or associated with the SpireBit scammers.

14  Economy / Scam Accusations / SpireBit Crypto Investment Scam Targeting US Based Russians and Russian Speakers on: July 04, 2023, 12:57:15 AM
I have asked for this thread to be translated for the Russian local board

15  Economy / Reputation / The curious case of forum member: rby (of the Rubycoin scam) on: July 02, 2023, 12:10:23 PM
Here is the original scam accusation thread I created in January 2019, that was at a time when I was very active in the Scam Accusations boards: SCAM: [RBY] Rubycoin

This thread has been created to allow all matters related to the rby account being discussed here because a different thread related to discussing generalised Tagging Accounts Sellers And Tagging Traded/Sold/Bought Accounts is being taken taken off-topic by issues related to the rby account.

Feel free to post here in the uncensored thread.
16  Economy / Reputation / Tagging Accounts Sellers And Tagging Traded/Sold/Bought Accounts on: June 28, 2023, 12:20:08 PM
This is self-moderated in order to stay on-topic and to keep clean from trolls, attention-seekers and signature spammers

Account sellers are not accepted within the community, their accounts are tagged with negative trust as soon as they are noticed by several members and I welcome that course of action as we try to minimise the impact they have on the wider forum with spamming and nefarious activity.

Going further, as a community we should not be selective about which accounts we tag for being previously sold on the basis of some traded accounts might be deemed as positively contributing to the forum. As a community we should be able to achieve some form of consensus about effectively what is the correct course of action in these types of circumstances.

If we as a collective pick and choose which sold/bought/traded accounts we tag and the ones we opt to not tag, then in my opinion we are setting a dangerous precedent because if we allow traded accounts to operate freely with impunity on the basis 'x' amount of time has passed (therefore they should not be tagged) it will send a signal to other would-be account buyers and account farmers. They too can use that as an argument and it should never be allowed.

If accounts are continuously traded on the understanding that if they are exposed at a later date they can try to defend their position by saying they purchased the account a long time ago and deserve to be given a chance just as other traded accounts were given a reprieve, it is unacceptable. This should not cloud any judgement and this practice should stop.

Once again to be clear, in my opinion if account traders make what are deemed to be any positive/good contributions towards the benefit of the forum, that cannot be superseded by the fact the account was traded. On that basis I will ~exclude accounts from my trust list and tag them.

If you know or suspect any members operating traded accounts feel free to post their name in this thread and state why you think they are using a traded/sold/bought account in order for it to be discussed as a prelude to it being possibly tagged by myself and/or others.

Likewise, if you see any post where a member is selling an account then feel free to post the details here and if you feel strongly about your conviction you should not wait for a review in order to place your own tag. After all, if you feel strongly enough about it to mention the account here maybe you should consider placing your own tag beforehand.
17  Economy / Reputation / After Chipmixer, Is Sinbad.io Next To Be Shutdown? on: May 29, 2023, 02:50:35 PM
It is inevitable that most if not all mixers will be used for (or will be attempted to be used by criminals for) nefarious purposes but when headlines such as "The world’s most prolific crypto thieves have used Sinbad.io to launder tens of millions" are associated with a brand it means their days are numbered.

I found this article in Wired.com interesting on several levels such as the creator of sinbad.io who wants to be known as Mehdi named the mixer Sinbad after the fictional sailor that travelled far by sea. In the interview Mehdi seemed to comment on almost everything that was being discussed but when asked if Sinbad was a new version of the now defunct Bitcoin mixer Blender, he refused to comment.

"Elliptic" is a crypto tracing company and they have suggested there is irrefutable evidence $22 million moved from Blender to Sinbad in the very early days after Sinbad was created therefore that doubles the reasons why it will probably be the next mixer to be shut down sooner rather than later.

Sinbad.io probably does not have too much time before various law enforcement agencies get together to organise the shutdown of their website and try to arrest the owner/operator on money laundering charges. If criminal activity as taken place on an industrial scale and almost zero protocols were put in place to either reduce, minimise or eliminate the risk of illegal activity by the owner/operator they will end up facing serious criminal charges.

20  Economy / Reputation / How wide reaching can the consequences of Chipmixer money laundering be? on: March 16, 2023, 04:45:36 PM
EDITED: Chipmixer has been seized by the FBI and a warrant for arrest issued for the owner/operator.

I have obfuscated the real name of the owner/operator of the Chipmixer website by replacing what appears on the FBI website with XXX instead. The original images of the FBI website and most of the original OP here will be moved to the Investigations board.

The FBI website states this about him:

Remarks:
XXX has basic training in cryptographic engineering and previously worked in decrypting communications and cyber reconnaissance. In 2016, XXX earned a PhD in electronic engineering in Taiwan.

Caution:
XXX is wanted for his alleged direct involvement in stealing identities and engaging in money laundering activity in furtherance of obfuscating and facilitating the functionality of the ChipMixer service.  Through this conduct, XXX has allegedly facilitated the laundering of approximately $3 billion USD worth of Bitcoin.  A large portion of the funds are directly associated with the victimization of people worldwide through ransomware attacks, cryptocurrency heists, the purchase of illicit drugs, the distribution and production of child sexual abuse material, and other crimes.

On March 14, 2023, XXX was charged with Money Laundering, Operating an Unlicensed Money Transmitting Business, and Identity Theft in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and a federal warrant was issued for his arrest.

-----------

What signal does this international operation to seize Chipmixer send out to other mixers? I am no expert but as far as I can see, in the end, they all will be marked by various international agencies for eventual seizing and the arrest and trial of their owners and employees.

According to news outlets, German authorities seized servers and crypto worth $46 million. US authorities have accused Chipmixer of laundering over $3 billion since 2017. If international authorities will try to seize all funds related to Chipmixer as they are deemed to be illicit, then it is possible that an attempt could be made by authorities to retrieve all the funds that have been paid out as signature campaign fees as they have effectively promoted/advertised the service.

This could end up being very messy for a lot of members in the forum that participated in their signature campaigns if the FBI and US justice department decide to force forum members to repay all the money they received from Chipmixer as signature campaign income.

How do those that participated in the Chipmixer signature campaign feel about this? Do you think you will be asked to repay all the money you received for promoting Chipmixer since the FBI and other international agencies have attributed them to money laundering?
