1  Economy / Scam Accusations / Give us referral, we'll give you your withdrawal on: April 14, 2024, 06:12:42 AM
So there is this app/website called defi which gives 6-8% return daily. My brother invested in it 10k INR, withdrew 12500, he received 10K out of it, as for withdrawal there was 20% fees.

I'm glad as his capital was back, now since this app gives 6-8% return daily, he made another extra 70k INR quickly, tried to withdraw, stayed pending for long period. Contacted their customer support, they said if you give us referrals we will give your withdrawal. Lol.

Website link for research purposes: https://definftly.com/ (this site is scam, do not anything there).

My brother was joined into this program by another relative of mine, there is very little to be surprised that that relative could have suggested this to get referral reward or to get his own withdraw.

Crypto teaches you few things, so to me, on very first glance the site looked like scam, whether it be a UI or hefty returns, told my brother it's scam but my brother had already invested in it, plus he weren't been through enough scams to judge what was it on first glance. Anyway, glad he got his invested amount back.

Take lessons as you may, I felt about sharing this story.

p.s: Wanted to post this in India sub, then I thought it's proper here. Idk. Suggest/report if you think it this should be moved elsewhere.

2  Economy / Gambling discussion / Going all in and losing the bet on: March 29, 2024, 03:17:34 AM
I was just playing Hi-Lo, making small dollar bets, if it's 5 number card I select higher card and win, if it's 10 number then I go with 'low' and win.

Then I was greeted with Ace card, minimal possibility for equal card right (i.e, Ace), so I go all in, and guess what happens, the result is Ace means I lost the bet.

Then I have all sorts of thoughts blaming casino, like do they manipulate the result of the game when user goes all in. I am sure they are all fair, it's just that the possibility of losing the game may be minimal but it's never 0.

Sometimes I'm able to remove it, sometimes I'm not. What's up?

5  Other / Meta / Allow to make thread self-moderated even after posting on: January 16, 2024, 11:26:03 PM
I didn't make this thread self-moderated when I posted and now I want to as I feel there are few comments that shouldn't be there. Should op be allowed to make thread self-moderated after posting? I.e, able to edit thread later on to make it self-moderated, what do you think?
6  Economy / Economics / Crypto: a place where everyone makes money, but few secure it on: January 09, 2024, 01:35:22 PM
I was reading coinconfessions, and it occurred to to me that most of those who are in crypto go through a phase where they make lots of money, but eventually lose it all or most of it due to wrong decisions taken due to having lack of financial knowledge.

Some start fresh with lessons learned and make it back, for some having huge unexpected money come and gone creates a downward spiral that they feel hard to get out of, almost like they were better off not having this unexpected wealth come in first place.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Crypto Confessions on: January 09, 2024, 12:47:03 PM
I just came across this Twitter handle and found it pretty relevant and entertaining. You might too: https://twitter.com/coinfessions

Feel free to comment if something hits you right in the feels and you feel like commenting upon It; it surprises me how relevant some of confessions were to me, and how we are all pretty much same.
8  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Ledger Live tracks you on: December 30, 2023, 11:34:50 AM
Read here: https://twitter.com/rektbuildr/status/1739984215070888316

There is bit of technical jargon there which I don't understand, so you may comment in simple words if you do.

According to thread op, it only applies to Ledger live and not when using Ledger hw via third party wallets, i.e using ethereum with metamask, so there is that, but still to set up for the first time, you still need to use ledger live.

He also suggest to not update firmware unless really necessary.
9  Other / Meta / Has anyone here received bitcointalk phishing emails? on: December 24, 2023, 05:57:27 AM
Was reading 2fa topic, and thought crossed about scammers may now phish for 2fa codes, then realized I have never received password phishing mails in first place.

Have you?

11  Other / Meta / Eli5 sub under beginners and help on: December 21, 2023, 04:13:14 AM
Eli5 sub on Reddit explains complicated things minus the complications, handy for beginners. Why not bitcointalk have same sub for crypto stuff?

Just a random idea, put forth your opinion.

12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Airdrops speculations thread on: December 20, 2023, 07:21:28 AM
Since airdrops have gone retroactive, all is speculation which ones will do airdrop and which ones won't.

This is thread to post your airdrop speculations.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Secure your crypto wealth by not having it all in crypto on: December 17, 2023, 12:52:23 PM
I wrote this in my notes app when I became aware of ledger library exploit. All this writing was spontaneous, and you should definitely heed it.

Crypto is wild west. Scams/hacks, all the new ways to get compromised never ceases to amaze me. Yet, it remains one of fastest way to build one's portfolio, once you have made enough, secure it, diversify in real estate, gold, etc.

You could having million dollars worth crypto in your wallet and next moment, puff it's gone.

Thank you.
14  Economy / Trading Discussion / FOMO of bull market on: December 11, 2023, 04:20:02 AM
So, I longed chainlink yesterday, with 10x leverage as market appeared so good. Now, there has been dump and my position got liquidated.

I usually go with 2-4x leverage, and that gives me safer liquidation price however this time I went with 10x leverage, as I thought bulls have arrived, and it's only up from here, and you see how wrong that turned out.

Take whatever lesson you want. For me, it's to stick with 2-4x leverage with which I tend to do good, don't allow greed to enter.
15  Economy / Economics / On retirement on: December 08, 2023, 02:50:25 AM
What term retirement usually denotes to is, to stop working. People often don't like job, so to retire usually tends to be on top of the list. However, if one likes what he does, he will do something similar to pass the time even after retirement.

Now, I'll be honest, I dunno what I am driving at but I wanted to spark topic about retirement. Now, you go,

17  Other / Off-topic / Remember to press enter on: December 06, 2023, 02:48:49 AM
No need to read, it's gibberish. Just have a look, which one looks better? Which one you feel like reading?

When you don't press enter:

Fog everywhere. Fog up the river, where it flows among green aits and meadows; fog down the river, where it rolls deified among the tiers of shipping and the waterside pollutions of a great (and dirty) city. Fog on the Essex marshes, fog on the Kentish heights. Fog creeping into the cabooses of collier-brigs; fog lying out on the yards and hovering in the rigging of great ships; fog drooping on the gunwales of barges and small boats. Fog in the eyes and throats of ancient Greenwich pensioners, wheezing by the firesides of their wards; fog in the stem and bowl of the afternoon pipe of the wrathful skipper, down in his close cabin; fog cruelly pinching the toes and fingers of his shivering little apprentice boy on deck. Chance people on the bridges peeping over the parapets into a nether sky of fog, with fog all round them, as if they were up in a balloon and hanging in the misty clouds.

So, what's your opinion on pressing enter?

18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Solana airdrops speculation on: December 05, 2023, 07:22:08 AM
Jupiter, Jito and couple others peanut amount so not worth mentioning already did airdrop. I think airdrop season on Solana is just starting and might be worth to give projects a try there. Even if these projects themselves don't do airdrop, we might see interaction with them counted in future by other projects, as we have seen happen on ethereum ecosystem.

Some potential ones:

1) https://app.drift.trade/ — perp dex, you can long arb with 3x leverage, and leave it for a while   Tongue

2) https://www.mfi.gg/r- lend/borrow platform

3) https://www.tensor.trade/ — nft marketplace

4) https://stake.solblaze.org/ — liquid staking platform

5) https://app.kamino.finance/ — borrow/lend platform

Good luck!
19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Do you see individual satoshi becoming valuable? on: December 01, 2023, 01:38:28 AM
As each halving is passing and this block reward decrease has started sounding like a big deal to me. Does anyone else also see individual satoshi becoming valuable in future?
20  Local / India / Oh digital rupee is already live!? on: November 30, 2023, 02:25:11 AM
I was checking my mails and came across this mail [1] from hdfc. I was surprised to see digital rupee already live. So I decided to give app a try, process of registration was relatively smooth, after registering I tried to load wallet with 10 rupee, funds were transferred from my bank account but digital rupee never showed them  Huh

Aside from that obvious problem, interface (mostly) works but is quite ugly, some options are bugged, there is field called "activate mobile number" in wallet section, you are supposed to activate to receive money with mobile number, if you click it, it'll show success pop-up but nothing actually happens.

You are also given wallet address like crypto blockchains do, can't figure out how to see this address fully (will they have explorer?), it was shown fully during registration, now it's hidden with stars.

Hopefully, paytm/phonepe will adopt it whenever it's ready, and give it a better ui. Better customer support too.

I read it works with upi qr codes, so it's really good thing.

p.s. I'll update post when/if I receive loaded 10 rupee

Edit: Received the refund in bank.
