1  Economy / Services / [Coin services] Helping with creation of wallets and coin sources. on: August 22, 2014, 01:17:15 PM
Hi,

I have been on this forum for quite long. And I have been getting some work like developing windows wallets. Helping with source of coins. I am very good with it. I was looking for work. I am very experienced with creating qt wallets. and daemon wallets. I have as well worked on Mac OSx wallets and was able to run through 10.6 snow leopard.

I can help you setup nodes, run a coin. Create new mining design for coin. Create a Proof of work and proof of stake hybrid. Have worked on sha256, scrypt, x15 and few other notable hashing algorithms. Have not worked on NIST5 yet.

I can certainly be helpful with most of the things a coin needs to run. Price is quite negotiable and can be discussed through messages.

Thank you very much.

Currently I can create coins of following algos

-SHA256
-SHA3
-Scrypt

Altcoin creation includes but not limited to:

Compiling the coin on windows.
Compiling qt and daemon on linux (64 bit currently)
Running up your nodes on linux machines(You have to pay for the hosting) (up to 3)

Please note some of the people in this community will get my services for free. And they know that already  Cheesy
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / [ANN] [CTD] [SHA-3] CateDoge!Time warp patched! v1.3, Rapid transactions on: March 24, 2014, 08:27:52 AM
Update: Fork was good! ctd.pool.mn updated to latest. Download V1.3 below. Time Warp is patched

CateDoge is just simply another cryptocurrency, which I am creating for fun. And of course if it gets going. I will always be here to support the coin to the fullest. Like releasing updates, forking the chain (if required). Its inspired by a 90s show catdog. And the famous doge meme along the famous cate meme  Grin CateDoge utilizes SHA3 (Keccak) algorithm.  Keccak has been noted to be putting less stress on GPUs and many of the multipools only support scrypt and sha256 coins yet. That could save us from multipools dumping our coins.

5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / how to start mining your own coin? on: March 01, 2014, 06:40:09 AM
I was working on a litecoin source where i modified it to generate a new genesis block. It went all good. I started the client. Now I have a problem that since its a new coin, the wallet keeps saying 1 hour behind from network, and no block source available, because its new genesis block, and has nothing to do with litecoin's blocks.

the question is how do I setup a node? Since this is the pc where I created the genesis block. I thought it would keep itself connected and sync new blocks. (Even though there are no miners on network, it should still sync).

I even added daemon=1 and then run the wallet on 2 different PCs. And I still couldn't sync and added rpcconnect=(other pc's ip) to conf file.

I might be wrong here. How exactly do you people sync a new coin or setup a node? I appreciate your help

7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / No debug.log file being generated? on: February 24, 2014, 07:23:28 AM
First of all, i was working on making the new genesis block for educational purpose.

I changed the ntime to current epoch time, and changed nnonce to 0.

Now i compiled and run the qt. it says assertion failed src\main.cpp line 2870

expression: hash == hashgenesisblock.

Okay, so i went to appdata folder, and then there is qt folder. but there is an empty db.log file, and there is no debug.log file. I run the wallet even through testnet and noirc, still no debug.log file appears. can anyone help?

9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / compiling litecoin on windows, crashes. on: February 19, 2014, 08:05:24 AM
I was compilling this catcoin source from kr105 on github. He has also provided a nice tutorial. And I used this https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=149479.0 tutorial and as well some other tutorials on here.

I was able to build all libs, and compile catcoind.exe without any error. but when I run it, it just says catcoind.exe has stopped working.
So I ignored it and went ahead and compiled a catcoin-qt. Which also starts up, says "loading wallet" wit wallet loading picture, then pops an error saying catcoin-qt.exe has stopped working, and close the program.

I am using windows 8 x86. activeperl 32bit, python33 32bit, openssl 1.0.e, berkley dbmingw, db-6.0.20.NC mysys base,boost_1_54, tried 1_53, and 1_55 as well.

I have seen no error in compliation, I had errors, which I trouble shoot and successfuly compile, but end up with broken exe. I added to data execution prevention as well, which provided no luck, then I tried on windows server, exe starts, and closes without an error ,and doesnt appear in taskmgr.

Need help. thank you
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Are multipools killing new altcoins? on: February 12, 2014, 11:47:54 AM
What are altcoins?
Since great success of Bitcoin. There have been a huge amount of altcoins releasing everyday for past year. And many of them had a huge success e.g litecoin, namecoin and quark. People started to mine most of new altcoins for a profit. Some mined them as a novelty item.

What are multipools or automatic profit switching pools?

Because of huge number of different coins are in the ciculation. People started to setup multipools to mine most profitable coin. There are simply profitability calculators used to calculate the profit of altcoins. And multipools simply use those calculators to mine most profitable coin and then users sell them to buy bitcoins from exchanges.

How is it hurting altcoins?

Whenever a new coin comes out and people start to mine it, due to nature of calculations and coins difficulty, some coins become so profitable to mine. Let's say if a coin has a difficulty of 1. And difficulty retarget is every 50 blocks. Now its mining on difficulty 1 and 100mhash/s. Then a multipool switches to said altcoin and takes it to 5000mhash/s or 5ghash/s. Difficulty goes to 100 or more than 100. Block retarget time naturally was 60 seconds. Now because of 5ghash on current difficulty (1) the block time drops to 5-10 seconds. which was before 60 seconds. Then multipools stay there until those 50 blocks are mined by multipools and when difficulty increases and profitabaility decreases, they leave the coin. Thus the network is left with 100mhash of small pool miners, difficulty sitting at 100+ and block time increases to 5-8minutes. That takes 4 hours for 100mhash to get the coin to normal difficulty. Once the difficulty drops again, multipools jump back. And it keeps on going.

There have been a number of coins hurt by this behavior of multipools. e.g etoken(ETOK) was doing great and suddenly a multipool hit it, leaving the difficulty so high. That miners did started to leave. Now its around 20mhash/s from 1 ghash/s. Then there is this one fedoracoin (TIPS) it was good coin, network was strong and huge number of miners. The coin was about to die but thanks to community that stepped up and helped it regain its value.
There have been so many coins that died or are dying because difficulty is too high for small pools.

How does it hurt cryptocurrencies?

Cryptocurrencies are backed by merchants, and other investors who believe in the cryptocurrency. Once they're left with nothing to believe on cryptocurrency. After a huge loss they completely leave the cryptocurrency. The only way cryptocurrencies are running today is because of the investors and merchants.

How multipools do not earn you way more than what you'd normally earn?

Multipools do a sipmple calculations like one of those available on coinwarz.com Just because a coin is earning you a few cents more. Its listed above all the coins. These coins are dying so that come greedy miners can dump them for a few more cents a day?

Solutions?

There are a few solutions which can be initiated by miners and some by developers of new coins. Miners should use smaller pools to mine when a coin is new. so you can add health to its network. Most of the coin devs are now using kimoto gravity well. From what I understand kimoto gravity well or KGW retargets difficulty rapidly which makes sure the difficulty doesn't go sky high when multipools or autoprofit switching pools jump on the coin.

Hi,  Grin
so yesterday I logged in to my multipool account. I saw that from 2 past days, my payouts were going to a different address rather than my own doge address. I looked in it and saw that my address was changed   Cry

Well, I copied that address(D5mRXNc8MWWoB3nGDpRx5Eea6DJEax46zr) and checked the blockchain, he probably stole from a lot of other people too.

I decided to look for the address on google. I found this thread.

Blakecoin Information

•Block reward is 25 coin + inflation (square root of (difficulty + block height))
•No reduction of block reward
•Cap in place to reduce the difficulty jumps upwards
•Block target time is 3 minutes and retargets every 20 blocks
•Total of 7 Billion coins
•Block maturity 120 (+20 buffer, 140 total)

Forked from Bitcoin reference wallet 0.8.5

Blakecoin Wallet is on Github

Why Blakecoin beats other coins in the long run:

•The modified blake-256 algorithm hash rate is just under 3x faster on the GPU and just over 2x on the FPGA compared with Bitcoin
•The reward for mining Blakecoin does Not decrease over time it only increases with block height and difficulty
•No restriction on any platform as Blakecoin does not include artificial *Security* that slows down possible mining hash rate and reduces power efficiency
•Already has planned use for Blakecoin as a currency storage between MMO systems with prototypes in development

But this 7950 with windows 7. It never fucking works. I tried blakecoin, monacoin, onlinegamingcoin and other so many coins with simple configs like

Client is running and has fully synced.
I am able to pool mine.
There is no typo and no errors. BUT IT WONT WORK  Huh  Huh

cgminer.
cgminer --scrypt -o http://127.0.0.1:52686 -u abb -p abdc -I 13 -g2 --thread-concurrency 8192

It is stuck on "started cgminer 3.7 bla bla" for 2-3 minutes, then shows a few lines of errors probably some pool not found and then closes immediately.

yesterday I made a deposit of 9wdc from wdc.theblocksfactory to my cryptsy account and it worked fine. So I set my wdc withdraw limit to 20 and it deposited 20wdc today to my cryptsy wallet. But I still got no deposit after 1 hour. I dont get how yesterday it took only 10 min to deposit, have i lost my money? Meanwhile I am sending a support ticket to cryptsy, though I think they can't help me much.

P.S I am doing this because WDC wallet won't sync a single block at all. So i have no other way.
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Asus Directcu II 7950 crashes on: December 02, 2013, 08:00:41 AM
I have a r9 280x mining at 740khash/s very fine with coinotron.
Looking at the success with this :p I tried setting up a new asus directcu ii 7950. on Windows 7. When I try to use intensity more than 13. it gives me all hw errors and 0 accepted shares. If I try to use thread concurrecy more than 8192. it gives me some buffer size error. So I ran the "SETX max_gpu_alloc_percent 100" command, which works and says value saved. After that I get a enquiueing error. Which made no sense.
So i am just running it on intensity -13, and thread concurrency 8192. I overclocked the memory to full as well. And not getting anything more than 550khash/s And it crashes so many times as well! Need help guys. Smiley

Hi,
I bought a new gigabyte r9 280x and I started mining. so it was only giving me 580khash/s on ltc mining. So I installed OC Guru II and in it. I changed gpu clock from 1100 to 1050mhz and memory clock was by default 6000 mhz. Now it is giving me up to 730khash/s. But its generating too much temperature. temp is 80c to 83c. Please do tell me if it's normal and I shouldn't be worried. I am really new to this. thank you Smiley
And also do tell me if this way I am voiding warranty^?
