1  Bitcoin / Electrum / How to prevent the automatic reload of lists? on: May 19, 2019, 08:08:12 PM
Hello,

The late versions of electrum reload the lists in timeframes of some seconds. This is really uncomfortable since when editing a label you suddenly are thrown out and even your sorting is gone. So at the end you sort fast and write fast and maybe even save the first part of the label first before it reloads again.

Can this be changed? I just want the list to stay the way I sorted it and of course it should let me write without reloading.

Also, since some time all the addresses are in one huge list again. Might be that is to bring users to create a new wallet from time to time but it's still troublesome. Can we setup somehow to not show used and empty addresses?

Greetings!

2  Other / Meta / Trust explanation in trust settings for improved forum peace on: April 18, 2019, 11:34:13 AM
Hello,

It looks like a lot of people do not know how the trust system works, ratings as well as the trust list. Which leads to many confrontations on here. Explaining everyone the implications of the forum trust will make it possible to wipe out a good bunch of strife on the forum. Please correct possible wrong statements I made, also the text needs to be finetuned and improved. It's just a base for discussion.

The solution might be a simple explanation above the trust forms that shows the current trust level and it's implications. Maybe in red or with a checkbox "I confirm". For example, everyone on default trust 1 would see something like this above the trust rating form:

Code:
You are on Default Trust 1.
Please note that you have a responsibility regarding who you give trust. Your given trust ratings are shown in bold red or green for everyone by default. So please check your ratings and make sure you can say that the rating you gave to a user should be visible to everyone by default.

Code:
You are on Default Trust 2.
Please note that you have a responsibility regarding who you give trust. Your given trust ratings are shown in bold red or green for everyone by default. So please check your ratings and make sure you can say that the rating you gave to a user should be visible to everyone by default.

Code:
You are on Default Trust X.
Please note that your rating will not be seen in bold red or green for everyone by default. It will be seen in bold by everyone who put you on their trust list. (The trust list is not the list of ratings.)

And above the trust list additionally something like:

Code:
You are on Default Trust 1.
Please note that you have a responsibility regarding who you have in your trust list. If you have >10 merit, every entry for a user you put in your trust list is a vote for this user to push him into DT1. Everyone with >10 merit takes part in this voting system.
In any case, you will push everyone you add to your trust list into DT2, which would somewhat mean you agree to the ratings that person gave and that these ratings should be visible to every member by default.
In case you added a user that reached DT1 you would also be responsible for everyone this user rated and trusted as well. Please check if you can agree to what he did.

Code:
You are on Default Trust X.
The trust ratings given by everyone you put on your trust list is visible to you in bold red or green, which is independent of their default trust level.
If you have >10 merit, every entry for a user you put in your trust list is a vote for this user to push him into DT1. Everyone with >10 merit takes part in this voting system.
In case you added a user that reached DT1 you would also be responsible for everyone this user rated and trusted as well. Please check if you can agree to what he did.

Might as well include a popup before saving though the forum practically has no popups so it's something unpopular, it seems.

Also, in case someone jumps the first time to DT1 or DT2 it might make  sense to send out an automatic email to this member and explain him the implications. There is no info otherwise without checking. It would give the user time to check the trust before a fight occurs about settings or ratings other members don't like.

Greetings!

Will halt keine gecardeten Codes bekommen.

4  Other / Meta / Account banned for having a password recovery question on: December 31, 2017, 06:25:47 PM
Hello,

can such an account be reopened easier than providing a signed message? Also is the user prohibited from posting in normal areas with a new account since the permaban was not judged through bad behaviour?

I have a very old client who would like to update an old thread giving details to investors about the status of a project.

5  Local / Deutsch (German) / bezüglich "1 Jahr Haltefrist für Steuerfreiheit: Praktische Umsetzung" on: December 05, 2017, 11:45:37 AM
Also Fortsetzung von: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=291568

6  Other / Meta / Finding new threads in a subforum? on: November 16, 2017, 11:17:23 PM
Hello,

since it looks like rss doesn't exist anymore on bitcointalk, I want to know if there is an alternative way. For example sorting a subforum after the creation time.

7  Other / Meta / RSS still alive? on: November 11, 2017, 01:54:08 AM
Hello,

did the RSS link change? I tried to register the rss feed again but the check of the link https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?type=rss;action=.xml;sa=recent;boards=52;limit=10 resulted in a not found rss.

I wanted to register this because I noticed that, when I register a forum on bct to be notified by email about new topics, I only get a few mails, not all.

8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / How is the BCC fork happening? on: July 31, 2017, 12:34:13 PM
Just wondering how they will fork. Normally on a bitcoin address tomorrow there are btc and bcc. Same amount.

When does the coins divide?

When sending he bitcoins from there then the bcc would move together with them since the btc-transaction would also valid on the bcc-chain?

Also when sending bcc from a btc-address you would move the btc also since the bcc-transaction would be valid on the btc-chain also both coins?

How is it handled?
9  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Better implementation of a way to run multiple instances of bitcoin-qt on: July 15, 2017, 02:13:27 AM
Hello,

I learned it is possible to run a single bitcoin-qt dir with the -wallet option to run multiple wallets with the same block-data.

However, each time running another version it needs reindexing because the datadir contains only the different wallets but all other files are the same files for every wallet.dat.

So it would be more efficient to have a flag that allows to use a datadir for every wallet you have. And a flag to only search for the blockchain in a normal shared directory. That way every installation could have his own settings and rescan wouldn't be needed anymore. However only one wallet could access the blockchain at the same time.

In any case it would be a helpful thing.

10  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Downloading pruned blockchain inefficient? on: July 12, 2017, 03:39:29 AM
Hello,

I just download the blockchain in pruned mode. I downloaded the unpruned blockchain some days ago. It was way faster and I notice that downloading a pruned blockchain now takes way longer. It looks like takes more cpu and it uses the harddisc more often. It isn't the swap file also and I gave bitcoin-qt 6gb RAM and 16 threads. The same setup. Antivirus is also not running.

So can it be that the pruning is constantly done and writing and reading from the harddisc in an inefficient way? The same way like it works with single blocks when it is already synchronized? If so then maybe it would make sense to make the prune work just every couple of minutes. This might save ressources then.

11  Bitcoin / Electrum / Verify Message with electrum 2fa on: June 27, 2017, 07:28:40 PM
Is there a way or workaround to sign a message for an electrum 2fa address? It seems the software doesn't allow it though I would pay the fee to trustedcoins if needed for that.

I have read it might be possible to recreate the address in a normal multisig wallet though I doubt that can be done. If it is possible please let me know how to do it.

Greetings!
Sebastian

Edit: Looks like it is generally a problem with multisig because of no real specification about this.
12  Bitcoin / Electrum / Raise fee on electrum 2FA wallet on: May 24, 2017, 09:15:43 AM
Hello,

I think there might be an error which prevents to raise the fee in electrum 2fa wallet transactions that have the option enabled to raise the fee.

It might be that trustedcoins needs a nother payment when raising fees. I receive a popup saying "Error 402 Payment Required" then a api.trustedcoin.com/2/cosigner/...tx... url and below another error message "payment required".

Guess using this option might be needed more often these times.

Greetings!

14  Bitcoin / Electrum / Please bring back freeze/unfreeze and send from address to the address tab on: March 11, 2017, 12:27:46 PM
Hello devs,

please bring back "freeze/unfreeze" and "send from address" to the address tab. It is in the coins tab but that isn't as easy to use.

I have mostly 10 to 20 active addresses in my wallet, when each of them has different inputs then getting an overview on the coins tab is hard. Since it mostly depends on the address where to send from it would be good to see these features back in there also.

The current setup has some disadvantages:

* overview is hard in coins tab when one has more than one address and maybe even more inputs in these addresses
** because of that it's harder to find the addresses and freeze/unfreeze them
** the same goes for send from and it would be mostly enough to send from an address only
* it's not possible to freeze an escrow address when it does not have funds in yet because the address does not appear in coins tab

I think the code might be still there, though inactive so if possible it would be great when it could be reenabled.

Thanks!
Sebastian
15  Bitcoin / Electrum / Couple of problems with newest electrum version on: March 05, 2017, 07:42:07 PM
Hello,

I didn't update for some time now and installed the newest versions now.

Now I have a problem.

I can not send a transaction because I receive this error message:

The address was frozen by me in a previous version. However there is no option anymore to unfreeze it now.

1) How can I enable freeze/unfreeze on address tab again?
2) How can I enable that the addresses are shown from the start?

I found that I can unfreeze an address in Coins tab. Though it's still the same error.

3) What is this error and how to solve it?

Then I found that I can not edit the fees anymore in the settings. Which is unfortunate since I like to set it up by btc/kB or similar. I mean one can't see how big a transation is bytewise. Only on preview window later on.

4) How to edit the fees in setting by sat/byte or something similar?

Another problem, which might come from the new version also, is worse. It's about 1.5b I want to send. But I have the coins in a multisig 2 of 2. I wanted to send coins from it. The code looks like it was created correctly after one signed the transaction and sent it to me. When checking the content in https://blockchain.info/de/decode-tx then the input is correct. https://blockchain.info/unspent?active shows the right input. Though when I import it into my electrum then the transaction shows a completely unrelated and empty bitcoinaddress as the source. As a result I have a transaction in my wallet that gave me free money from an empty address, it sent out the 1.5b and put the rest back in my sending address, which should be the sender in reality. Cheesy So even though I sent coins I received coins at the end. Theoretically since of course it does not get a confirmation.
It goes the same way when I sign first and the cosigner tries to send. We first thought it's a display error but electrum is really trying to do it this way.

5) Well... how can this be? I would appreciate if some dev could check this out with me.

Thanks!
Sebastian
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Bitcoin Core functionalities on: March 05, 2017, 12:57:21 AM
Hello,

I didn't touch bitcoin core in ages so please forgive me the noobish questions. Tongue I only just installed the newest version again.

I would like to ask how to use more than one core installation at the same time. It looks the new version is portable so all the details are in the dir I wanted it in, no data somewhere on C:\. I know there was the -data-dir flag which seems to be still working though I'm not sure if that's what I search for. I do not want to interfere the different wallets with each other. I just want to save disc space by using the same files of the blockchain. -loadblock doesn't sound like that also, I do not want a copy of the blockchain, I want multiple wallets use the same blockchain storage files. How to do this?

Second question, I searched for an option but didn't found it. Core creates reserve addresses though they are invisible. When exporting the addresses I only can see the visible addresses. I want to do 2 things, make all reserve addresses visible so that I can export them and secondly I want to raise the amount of reserve addresses. How can this be done?

Thank you!

17  Other / Off-topic / In search of a tool that could find out if a foto is manipulated on: January 14, 2017, 01:43:33 PM
Hello,

I remember that somewhere on bitcointalk I found a tool, or better a website, that could check if an image is manipulated. It added some filters or so and one could see the extra objects then.

Can someone tell me which url that website had? I can't find it anymore.

19  Local / Deutsch (German) / Welcher aktuelle Marktplatz für Bar gegen BTC? on: August 07, 2016, 01:29:17 PM

20  Local / Deutsch (German) / e-cash.org? on: August 04, 2016, 05:54:46 AM
Hi...

Sebastian
