21  Bitcoin / Electrum / Creation of multisig 2 of 3 addresses with trusted coins on: August 01, 2016, 10:56:52 PM
I noticed that the window showing the transaction details before signing does not show that the trusted coin addresses are multisig addresses and how many signers are needed. The system  works though, no question.

But what I would like to know is how are the addresses created. I mean public keys are needed. Electrum creates two and receives one from trusted coins. So there is no way to meddle in any way with the amount of keys and needed signers I guess.

Only want to confirm.
22  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Website that monitors a random bitcoinaddress and sends out an email... on: July 03, 2016, 08:43:08 PM
Hi everyone,

there once was a website called bitcoinmonitor.net. You could add a random bitcoin address and define certain things on when the website should do an action. Like sending out an email after an incoming transaction that received 2 confirmations or so.

Now this site does not exist anymore, only a parking page is hosted on there. But I would like to use such service so that I could get an email on my smartphone once I receive bitcoins on a certain address.

Is there such a service anymore without me having to open a wallet on there?

Thanks!
Sebastian
23  Economy / Service Discussion / Labcoin Scam - (2) Collected findings of LCSH-Group on: June 02, 2016, 12:16:46 AM
Since I had to realize that locking a thread is not a thing that I can reverse, I wonder how others can do it though, I will now create a thread and not lock it. Which means answers will come in and since I will not deleted other opinions I will not make a self moderated thread either. Which means I will link to the new posts I make.

So first post was: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1474973

Now todays one:
-----------------------------------------------------
I think it makes no sense to go the way I started, I mean step by step. I think first the most important infos should come out.

First: Alberto Armandi is the person behind labcoin

We have proof that he faked the hashing that was going on at one time.

I believe the hotel he tried to sell was posted on here to. We were able to get in contact and a Serra Maria Bonaria talked to an lcsh member, claiming that alberto is her son and why we ask about him. She is 90% shareholder of that hotel.
In a further communication she claimed that she is willing to compensate our losses since she wants to help her children.

Well, we were happy to hear some good news, we could have offered to drop the case and refund every victim on a prozentual loss basis, signing that those that got compensation won't sue again. Those not signing would not get a refund and would have to fight a probably fruitless fight alone.

Unfortunately it took a lot of time until things were ready and at that time Ms. Bonaria did not react anymore. I'm not sure why. Maybe she heard what her son did and heard about the damage he did or something similar. Too bad, it would have been a great ending for all victims. And most probably a better one than simply finding alberto.

Which brought us back to point 1. Finding alberto and seeing if he has some coins left. Which is, seeing his character, pretty useless it seems. But at least, after these investments, he would go where he belongs and it would be a sign to all those f... scammers.

Today I was informed of two articles about him and another known person in the game being catched in january of this year for owning a big amount of drugs. I'm not sure if the police that works on our case is aware of that, since there is no arrest warrant yet, only the police has to question him, but I will see if I can contact the lawyer.

What's important now is to let the italian police question him.

Please bear with me for today, it already took longer than I wanted but at least a start is done. Sorry for not posting new things yet but I will proceed.

Thread purpose introduction

1605162116GMT
As everyone know Labcoin ended as a failure. To be specific as a scam. And it was started as a scam from the start.

[CRYPTOSTOCKS] Labcoin Official Thread - Self-Moderated

It was a started as a project similar to Asicminer, an investment with the plan to develop asic chips, which were a pretty new tech for mining at that time. It was planned to develop the chips, build miners and mine with them plus selling them. It worked with Asicminer pretty fine so alot of bitcoiners invested alot of bitcoins.

[LABCOIN] IPO [BTCT.CO] - Details/FAQ and Discussion (ASIC dev/sales/mining)

When problems started with Labcoin a group of labcoin shareholders grouped and tried to help the person behind the account Labcoin out. Helping to find solutions though it did not work. So at the end this group was the one that initiated a lawsuit which virtualspade started.

labcoin lawsuit

Iam part of LCSH and we collected alot of evidences that went to the lawyer and the italian police that is searching for the scammer. Unfortunately the case did not proceed in alot of months. I called the lawyer and the only thing we can wait for now is finding the scammer whose identity we know. Since the problem is in this point LCSH-members decided to go out with all the info we have though protecting whistleblowers that asked us to not reveal their name in order to protect them. Of course the details are known to the police.

This thread should serve to shed light on the case and most importantly find the whereabout of the scammer.

I will self-moderate and lock this topic so that in this thread really only the info is posted that we found. The details can be discussed here: Discussion start

I will not post the usernames of those posting or discussing things on the lcsh-forum though of course these lcsh-members can step forward if they wish.

So far for the introduction of this thread. Now I have to filter a list of all the details that should be known and I will try to bring them in some sort of order.

I'm sorry that I took my time to start this thread but for some reason I have an immense work amount at the moment but I will try to take a half hour everytime I can to proceed with this thread.

I will put posts from lcsh-members in quotes.

We know the scammer is Alberto Armadi like the

Aug 08 11:57:04 Who is doing the software?
Aug 08 11:57:19 the cores we have fit are not classical "unrolled cores",the cores as we mean them are the result of our engineering effort
Aug 08 11:57:45 So you've arranged them to fit more on the same size?
Aug 08 11:57:57 we adopt a "sea-of-hashers" approach
Aug 08 11:57:58 from vbs: "For that to be possible, not only each Labcoin core would have to be ~42% smaller [65/130*(6.5^2)/(7.1^2)] than each BFL core but also the Labcoin chip would magically operate at a higher frequency (300MHz vs 250MHz) while keeping the same power draw..."
Aug 08 11:58:21 i remind you guys that the bitfury chip has up to 750 cores
Aug 08 11:58:59 how many cycles per hash?
Aug 08 11:59:12 they also use the same approach, we chose this design because one of our guys was close to bitfury developments 2 months ago

Danke!
26  Economy / Trading Discussion / What's the effect of add margin? on: March 11, 2016, 10:06:20 PM
Hi,

I use okcoin to trade with leverage and lately I tried the add margin feature. It seems it puts more money into the deal and lowers the risk of being called because the threshold moves further away. And the profit or loss is nearing more against zero when I did that.

So what happens exactly? When I buy a contract at 20x leverage and then add margin for the same amount I paid for the contract then would I effectively have the same like I would have had when I would have had done a 10x leverage?

Thanks!
27  Other / Meta / Automatically exchange words on the forum? on: March 07, 2016, 09:01:55 PM
There was at least one case of a successfull phishing through a faked bitcointalk.org URL. See: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1389494.new#new and https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1386622.new#new

The URL that the phisher owns was bitcointaIk.org. The L was replaced with the big i.

Is there an automatic replacement feature that is able to exchange such words automatically because of a proven scam word? So that it automatically routes to the real domain here? Maybe even showing a 404 page that shows a red alert that the user might have wanted to visit a phishing page? At least when bitcointalk's url was being tried to fake.

At least in the preview of my post the url is not replaced. So I think it might be worth to consider to raise the security on the forum.
28  Other / Meta / If an account is banned where can another member see this? on: February 14, 2016, 08:29:46 PM

Or is it only shown in seclog or modlog?
29  Economy / Marketplace / [Tutorial] Checklist to find out if an account is a safe buy or collateral... on: February 12, 2016, 07:56:09 PM
In an attempt to stop more scams, including scammy account trades or scams with accounts as collateral, I wanted to post a checklist. It is an useful list of checks for bitcointalk users on here, that want to buy an account or take one as collateral. I compiled a list of checks I do when I escrow an account trade. If you want to buy an account OR if you want to take one in as collateral and you don't want to get scammed then consider checking these things and only proceed when all points are cleared to your satisfaction.

Check the following things:

  • Most important check for a valid signature. You don't want to buy a hacked account. Don't ever take an account in without a valid signature that matches your safety criteria. The older the signing address the better since it can prove that the account is not hacked. The signature should be signed with an address that the traded account posted in an old post of his. The post should have not been edited. Or when it was edited then the last edit time counts. Check if the signature is valid, for example here: http://wallet-2sx53n.sakurity.com/#verify If the signature verifies and it is from an old posted address then the more sure you can be that it is no hacked account. Three month old posted addresses are not really safe.
  • Check the trust ratings of the account. In the profile page on the lower end is a Trust-Link. See the feedback that account received. There is a link to untrusted feedback too. You might check that out too to see if the account behaved badly. Though untrusted feedback will not change the trust numbers you see under each forum users avatar. Though even then you never know when a member giving red trust becomes a default trust member and that trust he gave turns your account red.
Very important is to check out the Trust Settings at the top too. If users are in there then it might look like default trust members positive feedback though it is only untrusted feedback. Of course that means that the acccount you check the trust with does not have a changed default trust list.
  • Account Bans should be mentioned in the Profilepage of an account. Though unfortunately that can only be seen when logged into the account. So it might only be possible when a person, trusted by both the buyer and seller, is allowed to log in.
  • Check google with site:bitcointalk.org loan "Username here" and see if something shows up. You can check on this thread on top: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1207414 and see if you find something. Though these checks are no full insurance since loans can be given outside of posts.
  • Check google with site:bitcointalk.org scam "Username here" and see if something shows up.
  • Check google with site:bitcointalk.org (ban|banned) "Username here" and see if something shows up for previous account bans or signature campaign bans.
  • Check posts and activity. If both have the same value check potential activity too. You can use the free script on https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1148181 or, if you don't care that another user might know you check it, you can use the same script someone else hosted for free on his webspace. Some are mentioned in the thread. Take one that is free. In fact practically all potential activity counters are based on that script.
  • Check post quality maybe when you want to get accepted into a signature campaign. If the quality is not good then you might make a couple of 20 times posts so sig campaign runners can check this out.

Don't await that this is 100% proof since loans could be given behind the lines too. Or a hacker might have been clever. There is no 100% safety with this.

Probably you know now why account escrows are time consuming. Roll Eyes I already think of raising my worth limit again from which i accept a trade.

Anyway... Good luck with your new safe and scamfree account then. Smiley

As a tip for loaner... please don't let yourself be used as a quick account buyer. Don't take accounts as collateral too easy. Often enough loaner overvalue accounts alot too. And if you really want to take the account then take the checklist to heart.

@Mods... I did not know if I should post it in a subforum so please feel free to push it where you think it would be more appropriate.

It seems the OKCoin Android App is way better than some months ago. Back then it has huge lags and was practically unuseable. Now it works great.

Though i miss how to create a trailing order with the app. Is it not possible at all?

And it is not possible too, that, when you have a position, to create one or two orders that will sell that position once it reaches certain profit or a certain loss?

32  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Opinions about tetherUSD, coinoUSD, BitShares 2.0 and BitUSD? on: October 24, 2015, 05:14:46 PM
Hi,

i want to hear opinions about the trustworthiness of the above named coins since i'm searching an alternative to NuBits, that i used till now to hedge against a falling bitcoin price. To protect my value. Though in the last price rise of bitcoin i noticed that the liquidity bot, that creates the buy and sell orders on the exchanges, simply did only create small orders on the buy side. Which means i could not exchange my nubits to bitcoins. Which means they lost their pegging to the USD for me then.

That's why i search alternatives. I was told some coins in this thread here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1211057.new#new and on another place but i would like to hear opinions about how trustworthy these 4 suggestions are.

Thank you!

34  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / NuBits, dropped buy support when bitcoin price is rising? Alternatives? on: October 17, 2015, 10:06:38 AM
I saw that the last time when the bitcoin price was rising but now, when it is practically rallying i see i much more. The buy side of nubits, at least on poloniex, is practically emptied out. There are a lot of nubits on the sell side but not on the buy side.

Even though i can understand that, it means that A) users sold their nubits to take part in the rally of bitcoins and B) it might be done to protect liquidity providers. So the liquidity bots don't create orders. I observed the buy side and i saw that the 300 and the 600 order was taken out and recreated at the same time. So it is pretty safe to say that these are the orders created by the liquidity bot. And they are far away from the actual price.

Though that is not how it should look like for a currency that should be stably connected to the USD. I mean that effectively means that your nubits are not worth the USD when you can't sell them for a price matching 1 USD.

How are the alternatives at the moment? Which alternatives exist and how safe are they? Something where you can go in and out at every time and where you can hold your coins safely in your own wallet instead having to trust an exchange. Of course the coin would need to be stable too, trustworthy that their value holds.
35  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Vanity Gen Address Cost? on: October 10, 2015, 07:11:08 PM
So i'm escrow for an altcoin ico and the issuer claimed to have sent unsold coins to a burn address. That address seems to be not a burn address after earlz rules though it contains the word BurnAddress. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1195417.msg12651182#msg12651182

My question now is how much would it cost to create such an address as a vanity address? I know there are services for bitcoin vanity addresses, though i did not find a price for them yet. Though it might be possible to judge from these prices.

Besides that, i guess that creating such a vanity address has the same difficulty in a new altcoin like with bitcoin, right?

Thanks!

37  Other / Meta / Altcoin Announcements subforum with uneditable posts? on: October 02, 2015, 03:41:39 PM
In light of the last Altcoin scam, see https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1198504.new#new and https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1196911.new#new it sounds like a good idea to change that subforum to have uneditable posts like it is done in auctions subforum. That could improve the safety of ICO's quite some bit when a trusted escrow is used.

Alternatively a subforum to that forum might be a way to go where only ICO's are hosted.

What are your opinions on that?
38  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / BitRush ICO, be cautious, please read! on: October 02, 2015, 11:55:43 AM
It seems the issuer of BitRush, chinook, now has deleted my two posts in his self moderated thread. That actually is a bad sign regarding what i have to say. So i need to repost it as a new thread.

I was escrow for that ICO, until he now deleted my posts, and i have the investors coins safe in the escrow address.

I only now saw that he has changed the ICO Bitcoin address. That address is not from me, it is an address he owns!

So here again what i posted:

Quote
Ok everyone, i had a conversation with chinook, the issuer of BitRush, about this and i think i need to let investors decide on their own what they want to do. I'm obliged to protect both, issuer and investors and even though it probably will hurt the project, i need to write it so that everyone can decide on it's own what he wants to do.

If this post gets deleted i would need to repost it in a new thread.

So yesterday i was informed (i leave it open to him if he will step in about that) that a commit to the sourcecode was done by upcoindevteam, which is the github account for the XUPcoin. And that coin ended in scam. The scam was proven when its dev said he burned coins and wiped the address's private key, but he had that address staking and he moved half of the coins out of the burn address, so that was clear scam because things like that can't happen with a normal burn address.

The one informing me about that had it's post deleted and the commits were changed on github, though he has a printscreen of it.

I asked the issuer of BitRush about the connection to that scamcoin and he told me that both coins had commits from a person that helped coding on both coins. He lead me to the one and i asked him about it. I will leave his username open, he can step in if he wants.

That coder wrote me that he can confirm that he created both, the XUP coin and the BitRush coin and that he sold them both to the same person. The BitRush coin was sold before XUP went scam.

The issuer of BitRush explained to me that xup was being developed by babur, which is an internet acquaintance/friend of him. He asked him if he could get a base coin created for myself, he got it sorted for him.

"xup was never a scam, babur is still working on it. no coins were sold off like the fudsters claimed, the burnt coins are still being held in wallet, ready for a burn."

That might be correct or not though it is impossible that coins are sent out of a real burn address.

After that the issuer suggested letting it run as before or changing escrow. Both options would not be viable if the info is not given to potential and actual investors because they need to decide.

chinook: "they were both sold to the user babur, but one was for him, and at a later stage one was for me, i understand this looks scetchy as im never seem to be able to word things correctly, so all i can do is say what i can say."

I guess this concludes what i wanted to say. It might be that the issuer is a honest person with bad friends only. It might be that the risk is bigger.

So in light of this, if an investor wants to get refunded i can do so when i get a signed message with date and purpose from the one who sent the coins. Only then i can be sure that the refund request doesn't come from a stranger who wants to scam. If you don't know how it works then see this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=990345.0
