All good things must come to an end. Today marks 120 days since the merit system was introduced, and as Theymos said, old entries are going to start dropping off the file: https://bitcointalk.org/merit.txt.xzIf you want a complete list of merit entries, you now need to keep your own historical records. Oldest entries (120+ days) will also start disappear off of individual merit pages.

Hey, does anyone know where the physical bitcointalk.org web servers are located? I'd like to set up an AWS server as close as possible to them.
Thanks!

A lot of accounts are being permanently banned for copy and pasting. Copying someone else's work is stealing - by taking away the page view on their site, you take away their revenue. You can reference information on another webpage, but you should paste only a few paragraphs (minority of the article) in a Quote tag, and immediately link to the source. Example: I was once a devoted Catholic. From when I was a little kid playing Lego to when I was a young adult stressed out about the future, I was a proud believer.
I still remember how it was to study in a Catholic school. Every class starts and ends with a prayer. Every day at twelve noon everyone recites the Angelus. Every first Friday of the month there was a campus-wide mass. Apparently, praying was a casual habit for me back then. Some bozo has decided to attack my "unofficially announced" website - BPIP. :/ Because the site was a hobby I did not prioritize backups. I lost all current profile information in my MSSQL database. I'm using this as an opportunity - since I started this as a hobby the database is a mess. Great time to organize and make things better. Sorry to everyone that used the site - but it will be down/incomplete for at least 22 days. :/

Sometime within the next 24 hours, the forum will generate the user id of 2,000,000. It would be nice to see a prize, but that would result in about 10,000 signups in a minute. lol Congrats Theymos and Bitcointalk!

As a merit source I would like clarification of " Merit spent from your source will come back in 30 days." I sent 15 merit on Jan 24 - I didn't receive any merit on Feb 24. In fact, I haven't received any source merit at all. I hope he is working on the system and that merit comes back 30+- days after it's spent, so an active giver like myself can have a constant supply. Don't give it to me all in one mblob ( merit blob) each day of the month.

l like the way the merit system ranks merit givers by the amount of merit they have given. When a user ties with another in merits given, how do you sort that? Take a look at this post: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2833350.msg29048068#msg29048068I left 10 points AFTER Cyrus did, yet I am shown in the list before him. Even alphabetically that makes no sense. Can you sort it by merit left and then by datetime left? The first person to leave xx merits should show on the list first. How is it sorted now?

They should be disabled in this section IMO.
This section is about issues and development of this forum. We don't need advertising here....

Anyone know of any hidden page or log that will allow me to see changes to trust?
Not who is on each level, but when someone adds or removes trust on someone else.

Are you bored, willing to help the BPIP project, and know how to code in windows? I would like a user to right click on a link, and select a new menu item which would parse some items and construct a web url. From the page HTML you would parse the profileid, amount of merit given and the url to post in question. It should be an add on for Chrome. This tool will initially be used to combat the anticipated Merit market. Your information will be displayed as the add on creator. Obviously I can't give you merit for this simple project, but everyone else can - if you make an add on that people find useful!

Received this prayer message today: Sorry VOD for this. That was my first time here in bitcoin on that time and i didn't know the rules on that time. Since I cannot delete the post i will edit the post and give the credits to the maker, SORRY for that. I will never do it again. Please vod take away the negative trust on my profile. I WILL NEVER DO IT AGAIN, SORRY. With the new merit system, copy and pasting rules will be tightly enforced. Don't expect any mercy for me if you didn't know that was wrong. Anyone want to explain the proper way to post external content? +Merit

I created this video 13 years ago, and I just posted it online to share with an armageddon group. http://vimeo.com/251584829When I first entered this URL, it sat at "Building video.. please upgrade to bypass" for a good 15 minutes. Do you guys see this too when you visit, or was it a one time delay?(I hope you don't consider this SPAM - as the BTC group is not who this video is aimed at)

1) Can a person detect if a bitcoin still has bitcoin cash in it?
2) Assuming 1 is yes, is a bitcoin with the cash still in it worth more trading than a bitcoin without?
Thanks!

(Hopefully you even notice this thread amongst all the spam threads here) Theymos, it is reaching a critical level. From my BPIP parsing, I can tell you are getting several new signups per minute. These accounts are immediately posting as often as they can, using simple one liners that don't contribute and in some cases are completely off topic. They post once on a thread then never go back. This is making normal conversation difficult. Is there anything in the works to combat this?
