1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / ProtonVPN to add Monero on: July 07, 2025, 10:18:48 AM
I must say that this took a long time coming from a service that prioritize user privacy... but it's finally here. After an online petition with over 1000 signatures, the general manager (David peterson) has announced that XMR will be added to ProtonVPN before the end of the summer:

https://x.com/davidgpeterson/status/1941500514803548636

This does not include their other services (such as ProtonMail) given that it's another team handling it but it's a good start I would say.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / TON offers 10-year golden visa for its holders on: July 06, 2025, 12:05:56 PM
I'm not really into TON or alts in general (maybe with the exception of a couple of them) but I must say this is very interesting.

TON hodlers can now stake 100K $ (plus a one-time 35k $ processing fee) worth of Toncoin for 3 years in exchange for a 10-year UAE Golden Visa. This could also include your immediate family members (parents, children, and spouse) at no additional cost (aside from the goverment fees). You can read more about it on Ton's website: https://ton.org/es/golden-visa

Your thoughts on this?

3  Economy / Trading Discussion / daily trading volume for BTC/USDT on Binance on: July 06, 2025, 11:51:49 AM
Is there any way to find such a data for the previous weeks and months? The volume once a day would be fine. I checked Binance's spot trading page but I don't see any way to do it. I'm almost certain there is a way, or a service that allows you to do it, but I just can't remember where or how.
4  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / How do exchanges auto refill from cold storage? on: June 27, 2025, 11:35:25 AM
I would imagine that exchanges have some mechanisms in place to automatically refill their hot wallets once they're below a certain amount? Something other than the CEO having physical access to a hardware wallet and manually transferring the funds.

If so, what are some of the available solutions out there for bitcoin, and other cryptos? I know there is Safe.global which could help in such a scenario but want to know what are some of the other solutions out there
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / GameStop buys 4,710 BTC (500m dollars) on: May 28, 2025, 12:42:54 PM
GameStop has just announced[1] that they have bought 4710 BTC (worth 500m$ with the current rates) just when people started being skeptical the meeting between Michael Saylor and GameStop CEO Ryan Cohen a few months back[1]

It's really starting to become difficult to keep track of all companies raising money to buy bitcoin...

6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Trump Media Raising $2.5B for Bitcoin Treasury Strategy on: May 27, 2025, 03:22:33 PM
It's always great to have more companies buying billions worth of bitcoin, but I think this kind of reassures everyone's about the Trump administration stance on bitcoin and crypto, although it's been sometime since we last heard anything about bitcoin from them. Your thoughts on the matter and the raising number of companies that are doing this?

Trump Media and Technology Group announced a $2.5 billion capital raise to create a bitcoin treasury.

The company said it has secured agreements with about 50 institutional investors for $1.5 billion in common stocks and $1 billion in convertible notes.

The news — initially reported on Monday by the FT — provided a modest but fleeting bump in both DJT stock and BTC.

8  Economy / Service Discussion / Coinbase wallet - recovery phrase on: May 19, 2025, 06:10:55 PM
I don't use the wallet, but I installed it because a friend has asked for help.

For some reason, his settings page is not showing "Recovery phrase" but mine does (everything else is identical). Does anyone have an explanation for this? I'm suspecting maybe it's because he linked his Coinbase (exchange) account with the wallet but I cannot find anything about that online.
9  Local / العربية (Arabic) / رفع الحظر عن سوريا!! on: May 13, 2025, 05:30:25 PM
لقد أعلن منذ قليل الرئيس الأمريكي في زيارة له الى السعودية، على أنه سوف يقوم برفع العقوبات على سوريا:

https://x.com/nicksortor/status/1922326489686524056

10  Economy / Exchanges / Coinbase becomes the first crypto company listed on the S&P 500 on: May 13, 2025, 12:47:31 PM
Coinbase becomes the first crypto company to be added to the S&P 500 index (replacing Discover Financial).

And as you would expect, the $COIN stock has soared after the news:

https://www.reuters.com/business/coinbase-shares-jump-addition-sp-500-index-2025-05-13/

Thoughts on which crypto/bitcoin company we might see next? I have seen some people speculating about StrategyBTC but still, it looks like nothing is guaranteed even if the financial requirements are met:

Beyond the financial requirements, the company must also represent a major sector of the U.S. economy. An index committee ultimately selects firms to ensure sector balance and reflects the overall market
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Nakamoto: Another Bitcoin Treasury Company (710m raised) on: May 12, 2025, 12:49:57 PM
So just like we have seen a couple of weeks ago... A bunch of companies (Cantor Group, SoftBank and Tether/Bitfinex) launched  "TwentyOne":

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5539468.msg65349810#msg65349810

A company for accumulating bitcoin and providing other bitcoin financial services.

Today, "Nakamoto" with David Bailey as CEO is merging with KindlyMD (a healthcare data company) to start a bitcoin treasury:

https://www.theblock.co/post/353948/david-baileys-nakamoto-to-merge-with-kindlymd-raise-710-million-to-start-bitcoin-treasury-strategy

For those who don't know who David Bailey is, He is the man behind The Bitcoin Magazine/Bitcoin conference.
12  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Rumble to release a Bitcoin/Stablecoin non-custodial wallet on: May 09, 2025, 11:01:22 AM
Rumble's (a video-sharing platform) CEO has stated in a tweet that the company will be releasing a non-custodial wallet for both bitcoin and stablecoins later this year (Q3) to compete with Coinbase: https://x.com/chrispavlovski/status/1920587376126042424

I'm not sure why "Coinbase" specifically? because the Coinbase non-custodial wallet is not really that great to start with and it's mainly focused on alts... but he might be referring to the exchange?

It's worth mentioning that the company bought 17.1M$ bitcoin for their treasury back in March and is planning to accumulate more in the future.
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / "Steak ‘N Shake" to accept Bitcoin payments starting 16th of May (Nationwide) on: May 09, 2025, 10:05:57 AM
Official tweet: https://x.com/SteaknShake/status/1920647356032139430

I don't really remember when was the last time a very large company started to accept bitcoin directly... so this is pretty nice to see. It's still unclear whether they plan to accept payments through the lightning network, on chain, or both. Hopefully more companies to follow!
14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / TwentyOne Capital: The next MicroStrategy? on: April 24, 2025, 02:23:24 PM
So Cantor Group (led by Howard Lutnick who is the Secretary of Commerce right now and who's known to be very pro-bitcoin) with Bitfinex/Tether and SoftBank are launching "Twenty one capital".

The aim of the company is to not only stack more bitcoin like MicroStrategy is doing, but also:

Twenty One also intends to build out several Bitcoin-focused offerings, including Bitcoin debt and equity products, an advisory service, a lending platform and an educational platform.

The company is going to be led by Jack Mallers who is the founder of Strike app. I have seen some of his tweets, and also seeb gul talking at the Bitcoin Conference a couple of times, and I do believe he's a good fit for the position.

EDIT: FOrgot to mention that the plan is launch with 42,000 Bitcoin (3.6 Billion$) and then stack more over time.

Your thoughts?

15  Local / العربية (Arabic) / انهيار الأسهم و البيتكوين on: April 07, 2025, 10:57:25 AM

17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / [Updated] Trump signs Executive Order to create a 'Bitcoin Strategic Reserve' on: March 02, 2025, 03:46:50 PM
I can't say I was not expecting this with the people that were around him and Eric Trump. XRP Founder, Cardano's Founder etc. I do find it stupid, because not even ADA holders use ADA but well...

EDIT: Bitcoin and Ethereum are also going to be included in the strategic reserve.

EDIT 2 (7th of March 2025): Trump has officially signed a bitcoin strategic reserve. The reserve will include the current holding of the U.S goverment, but the secretary of treasury and commerce is authorized to introduce plans to buy more bitcoin, as long as it doesn't cost the taxpayers anything. See here: https://www.whitehouse.gov/fact-sheets/2025/03/fact-sheet-president-donald-j-trump-establishes-the-strategic-bitcoin-reserve-and-u-s-digital-asset-stockpile/

19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Pump.fun twitter hacked on: February 26, 2025, 03:50:44 PM
For the memecoiners out there, stay away from Pump.fun tweets. The account has been compromised. The hacker has been promoting a fake governance token. See more details here[1] and most importantly, stay safe.
