26  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Request for giveaway threads to be assigned its own sub forum. on: January 23, 2014, 04:57:02 AM
Hi,

Request for the giveaway threads to be assigned its own sub forum. Checking the Altcoin section right now, it looks like the alt section is only occupied by giveaways. It would be nice to have other topics showing up in the main altcoin section.

Just a suggestion.

And looks like  they want to go after the  users  too.

i have  setup a  IRC channel for every one to get together  and  find a solution to this. would like it if the international community would help this  small group https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=386916.msg4163880#msg4163880

Update:-

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/ahmedabad/Bitcoin-may-be-used-by-hawala-traders-Officials/articleshow/28067184.cms

Now they have started calling all bitcoiners Gang

http://www.thehindu.com/business/Economy/bitcoin-gang-gets-67-new-ecurriences-value-grows-to-13-bn/article5515128.ece

33  Local / India / Look at the charts (Bitcoin dont give a Crap about India) RBI on: December 26, 2013, 08:31:31 PM

Wow! funny.

RBI  puts out  a  press release, few indian exchanges close their shutters. Bitcoin's overall network dont  give a shit  about it.

Sad to know India cant  even make a mark in new technology, and the regulatory authority is  acting like it the next  big  thing in  money laundering weapon.  and Permission  is required. Meh......

It was Christmas so, Bah Humbug!!

satisfied much.
34  Local / India / Don't Panic Stay Calm on: December 26, 2013, 05:37:54 PM
Don't Panic Stay Calm!

Ok people dont panic, That was only a  Press release to state  what could  be the  dangers to the consumers on using  bitcoin.

When they  said
Quote
No regulatory approvals, registration or authorization is stated to have been obtained by the entities concerned for carrying on such activities.
It is a typical post war thinking  of the license Raj.

Bitcoin Exchanges do not  require  licences to run, if that happens legitimate business will have to close down shutters and then the underground black market run by criminals  will thrive.

What would be  done  is, participation by  every  exchanges to provide KYC documents and  provide  active assistance  to law enforcement agency to  track down potential criminals.

The last point made in the press release that makes  every one step back is
Quote
There have been several media reports of the usage of VCs, including Bitcoins, for illicit and illegal activities in several jurisdictions. The absence of information of counterparties in such peer-to-peer anonymous/ pseudonymous systems could subject the users to unintentional breaches of anti-money laundering and combating the financing of terrorism (AML/CFT) laws.

the problem is that law abiding  citizens are the one  backing  down, the criminals  can  still get  hold  of bitcoin through  many other  channels.

But, the main point i want to make here is that Bitcoins are not  anonymous. every transaction is  recorded forever.
the easiest way to track down money laundering and criminal activities to by have  exchanges  follow  Proper KYC and anti-money laundering protocols.  Exchanges are the point  where bitcoins can be protected from criminal elements. you remove exchanges then back alley transaction will start taking place. and if that happens then good luck  tracking down the  "Money Launderers"

Quote
systems could subject the users to unintentional breaches of anti-money laundering and combating the financing of terrorism
This point  implies to users of  bitcoins, which is  valid. For businesses as long as they have proper paperwork of their users then they are  fine.

Edit:
Quote
The Reserve Bank has mentioned that it has been looking at the developments relating to certain electronic records claimed to be “Decentralised Digital Currency” or “Virtual Currency” (VCs), such as, Bitcoins, litecoins, bbqcoins, dogecoins etc., their usage or trading in the country and the various media reports in this regard.

Bitcoin is not in any way a Virtual currency "VC", or a “Decentralised Digital Currency”,  Damit it is a Cryptocurrency.

dogecoins Are you kidding me?Huh? Huh

p.s - INRBTC as long as you are not  dealing with INR directly you are  ok  to run.
35  Local / India / Start of National Bitcoin Meetups on: December 22, 2013, 06:57:21 AM
Hi,

I am going to start helping out  with meetups in various cities and towns in India. Will help guide  people  to do the meetups and also try to get video conferencing by bitcoin experts in places where people are just  starting out with  bitcoins.

Will try to organize atleast one new meetup every month. In a new city or town.

An IRC meetup will also start online for  every one  to join in, this may be once in a week or twice in a week. (or if you like it hang out there 24/7, its up to you)

Will start the first announcement of the national Meetup on 31st December. with new location and venue.

Meetup will cover mostly the technical aspect of Bitcoin, its network the bitcoin code, mining, Information security, and Opensource Technology.
investment and speculation talk can be  better kept on the IRC as that platform provides better information.

If you want to start a  meetup, and dont know where to start with, or  you yourself is a noob, and require experienced bitcoiners to guide you then just pm me i will get that  arranged and  we can all participate in it.
36  Local / Press & News from India / This is how India should roll [Good job Denmark] Bitcoin Exchanges LEGAL! on: December 17, 2013, 04:19:28 PM

39  Local / India / Beware !!! Scams, ponzi schemes, and phishing attempts. on: November 27, 2013, 02:33:07 AM
Guys  please beware of scammers that are after your money. Bitcoin has a lot of luster that sometimes blinds you. People will play on a persons greed and  then start scamming you.

Rules to follow:-
-If it sounds to good  to be true, then its most probably a scam/ ponzi scheme.
-Never trust some one  just because you had a few trades  gone smoothly before, they will  usually try to gain your trust and then hit you when you least expect it.
-Make sure all your trades are done  in  public as records can be verified.
-Separate your trading  email from your  personal emails.
-Dont click on any links sent to you on a  trading email.
-Be very aware when  dealing with people  over the phone, there have been  attempts to get personal details through social engineering.
-And always use an Escrow.  Benson has been doing a  great  job with that so  use him for your escrow.

DON'T INVEST MORE MONEY THAN YOU CAN AFFORD TO LOOSE.

I got a real strange call yesterday for bitcoin investment sounded shady.
