1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Since Circle stopped allowing me to buy Bitcoin - Where is the cheapest & easist on: March 17, 2017, 11:35:10 PM
I am in the UK. Where is the cheapest and easiest / quickest place to buy BTC from (except Local Bitcoins?).
2  Other / MultiBit / I no longer support Multibit HD :( on: March 17, 2017, 09:40:24 PM
After a love / hate relationship with Multibit  / Multibit HD over the last couple of years I have finally made the switch to Electrum.
There is so much to love about Multibit but I hate the unconfirmed transactions. I am constantly repairing the wallet but more often than not it doesn't work.
Usually the problem sorts itself out in time but I can't deal with a wallet that is so reliable so for now I am using Electrum until the developers make some changes.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Help me move my small amount of Ether to another wallet.. on: March 15, 2017, 04:45:01 PM
Hi guys,

I have just been learning about Ether so decided to buy some. I transferred the Ether into my newly installed Ethereum Wallet not realising I was going to have to have to download the whole blockchain and wait a week for it to do so all the while slowing my laptop to a crawl.
Anyway, this reminded me of Bitcoin Core before I found out about Multibit etc.

I decided to look for a lightweight wallet and decided on MyEtherWallet which seems simple enough and safe. I would now like to move the Ether that I sent to Ethereum Wallet but it's not showing yet. It's only on about 17% and I have been waiting 3 days.

How can I abandon the Ethereum Wallet and recover the sent Ether to a different wallet?
4  Other / MultiBit / Multibit HD - Unconfirmed Transactions on: November 29, 2016, 02:25:13 PM
Why does my Multibit HD bitcoin wallet never show me my full balance after I login.

Currently it's showing BTC0.02 with BTC2.68 unconfirmed.

I know the 0.02 is a withdrawal from changetip and it's the second time the balance was unconfirmed. Last time I repaired the wallet and it was fine but I don't really want to have to do this everytime I check funds or attempt to spend.

What is causing this and how do I resolve it permanently?
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / WTF Copied Users Appdata Folder to a new PC and a New Install of Multibit HD... on: September 09, 2016, 02:54:06 PM
and it still showed my bitcoins.

I was expecting to have to send the coins from my old pc to my new pc but nope, they were there exactly the same on both PC's at the same time.
6  Other / MultiBit / How can I check my seed works easily? on: May 07, 2016, 10:43:29 PM
I use Multibit (classic).

I want to check that my seed works and will recover by btc in the event of failure.
How can I check my seed works?
7  Economy / Exchanges / How to Transfer BTC to GBP with Circle.com on: April 25, 2016, 09:04:32 PM
I have a circle account with 1BTC in it.

I live in the UK and I want to transfer some (or all of the BTC to my bank account). Please can someone tell me how to do it.

I have Googled it but the results seem inaccurate. The things they tell me to do don't appear on my dashboard.

For example, I don't have cash out available.

Quote
How do I cash out?

Transferring money from your Circle account is simple and secure. All you need is a linked debit/credit card or bank account as the destination for your money

On the main account page, select Cash Out
8  Other / MultiBit / wallet.dat on: April 24, 2016, 11:44:40 PM
If I want to secure my wallet do I just need to back up wallet.dat to an external hard drive.

Please, don't make this complicated. Presume I don't have any virus. I just want a simple way to save my bitcoin elsewhere in case my PC dies.

Also, if I back up wallet.dat what happens if I spend bitcoin?

9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Real World Scenario - Question on: July 20, 2015, 11:04:23 PM
Ok, so I use mycelium on my phone but I don't like to keep a lot on there, usually just under $100 or so. I transfer btc weekly to my phone to top it up.
I like to think of my smartphone like my wallet.

I keep my laptop at home and that is where I keep the rest of my funds (some $50,000 worth of btc). Anyway, it doesn't matter if it's on my laptop or on an external flashdrive the point is it's at home.

So one day I see something epic but they want $220 of btc. They don't take any other form of credit.

I can't just go home as it's a 2 hour round trip and by that time the store will be closed.

How the fuck can I access my bank (on my PC) when I am away from my PC? unless I use the cloud and isn't that a really bad idea?
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / My new way of getting rid of cold callers. on: June 27, 2015, 11:36:34 PM
We all get them, they come knocking on your door and the first thing they say is "don't worry I'm not here to sell you anything.. "

But, that's exactly what they are doing.  They are sales persons trying to earn commission.

We get them weekly. Windows,  roofing,  charities,  insulation,  solar,  the list goes on.

So today they knocked on the door again while I was about to have tea and I said the following.

I respect my privacy so if you are going to ask my name I'm not going to give it
If you are going to ask for my phone number or email address I'm not going to give it
If your going to ask for my bank details I'm not going to give them.
I am however happy to support your organisation and if you provide your companies bitcoin address I will make regular donations.

Then it got me thinking how would I setup regular standing Orders to a specific bitcoin address.
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / [Announcement] Go Create! Childrens Creative Play Center To Accept Bitcoin on: June 07, 2015, 10:14:50 PM
I posted a thread a little while back asking the best way to accept bitcoin payments for a bricks and mortar business.

I am pleased to announce that on Saturday 13th June at 10am Go Create! will officially open it's doors to the children of Preston, Lancashire.

Go Create! is a fantastic children's creative play center. The Go Create! experience is all about enabling children to have the opportunity to make and create virtually anything they can imagine. The studio is tailored specifically for children and has tiny tables and chairs for children as young as two up to mid-size tables and chairs for 7-12 year olds. The studio holds a huge amount of creative play materials in brightly coloured drawers. Children can find almost as much enjoyment just looking through the drawers as actually creating!

As well as the Go Create! experience they offer messy play sessions for babies, toddlers and preschoolers which are truly unique and use materials you or baby are unlikely to have experienced before. They even have a Friday disco!

If you happen to be in Lancashire on Sunday 14th June 2015 at 10am do we have something special for you!! More information tomorrow..

The best part is that Go Create! will be accepting bitcoin payment!

You can contact Go Create! at http://www.gocreate-preston.co.uk or Facebook http://www.facebook.com/gocreatepreston

12  Economy / Speculation / Why Are People So Pigheaded About Future Bitcoin Price? on: May 18, 2015, 09:18:07 PM
It's really starting to annoy me.

I mean, the price of bitcoin has been falling for at least 15 months. It could continue to go down, there is no guarantee it will go up.

Yet you still get all these idiots going "if it drops I will buy more" ... How much lower you want it to go ffs.

"people are waiting for the price to go even lower so they can buy more coins" ... really?
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Accepting Bitcoin in a Bricks and Mortar Shop on: May 16, 2015, 02:45:19 PM
Hi,

I run a retail shop in the UK and I am considering accepting Bitcoin.

I don't really understand how to do it.

I know I can create a QR code but do I need a QR code for each item I sell?

So, the customer comes in and wants 3 things, how do I do it?

Sorry if this makes little sense.
14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin will Fizzle to Nothing.. on: April 01, 2015, 09:18:48 PM
I love Bitcoin I really do but I just can't see businesses adopting it like I wish they would.
Bitcoin is a 'thing' of the moment like the Harlem Shake.

I hold over 4 bitcoin and spend weekly although it's only about £12 worth. I usually buy from takeaway from takeaway.com although I also bought from bitstickers this week.

I would love to know I can spend bitcoin anywhere, supermarkets, taxis, buses, local shops but I just can't see it happening.
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Ok So I Just Sent £1000 of BTC to a Friend in Northern Namibia.. Now What? on: March 22, 2015, 10:42:01 PM
OK, So I just sent £1000 of Bitcoin to a friend who is in Northern Namibia (just above South Africa).

He received the funds via an app on his phone - Mycelium..

The problem is we have no idea what to do now. Ideally he needs to transfer the btc to his local currency (NAD) or spend the bitcoin locally but noone there accepts bitcoin. How can we convert this money to something he can actually spend?

Thanks in advance.
16  Economy / Speculation / Should I Cash in my Premium Bonds and Buy Bitcoin instead? on: March 17, 2015, 06:58:10 PM
It would buy me about 4.5btc

Thanks

P.s, I have other savings as well. I bought the premium bonds last year expect to win something. Even a little something.. but so far I didn't win anything.
17  Bitcoin / Mycelium / mycelium idea. on: March 12, 2015, 10:53:41 PM
Mycelium should integrate a service like bump that allows you to transfer funds between 2 phones simply by touching them together.

Thanks.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Ripple v NextCoin v Quark v Peercoin v Litecoin ? Which? on: March 08, 2015, 11:08:46 PM
I hold coin in all of the above.

Which, if any do you think I should hold onto? Which should I get rid of?

Is there another I should be trading for that?
19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Another Reason Bitcoin Should Succeed... on: March 04, 2015, 10:56:16 PM
I have posted crap like this before but a lot of things annoy be about fiat and I often think there must be a better way.

Today I went to a large retail park in my car. I wanted to pay for the car parking. The charge was 70p or £1.20 but unfortunately I didn't have the correct change in my wallet.

I then ended up borrowing a £1.00 from my wife to pay the £1.20 even though it would have been longer than we wanted to park for.

I went to the machine and tried 5 or 6 times to get the machine to accept the pound which it wouldn't do and kept spitting it back out. I ended up going back to the car and getting another pound to buy the ticket.

How easy would it be to have a QR code on the ticket machine for the length of stay. Scan the code, get your ticket. Done.
20  Economy / Marketplace / Post Where I Can Buy Baby Toys with Bitcoin in UK on: March 03, 2015, 10:19:36 PM
I want to buy my daughters 1st birthday presents and clothing with Bitcoin.

I am in the UK and only want to deal with the UK as shipping from abroad will be too expensive. Can someone point me to some stores (online or high street) that accept bitcoin.

Thanks.
