1  Other / Meta / [HACKED] Request to delete my Bitcointalk account on: May 22, 2019, 06:06:46 PM
Hello mods, it appears around 2016 my account was hacked. The hacker also posted various threatening messages to other members about some kind of exploit. An example screen is attached.

SCREENSHOT

As a side note I do occasionally get random emails from a scammer that claims to have access to my account and asking for a bounty lol. Maybe it's just generic spam or it could be associated with this account.

Either way I would like to make a request to have this account deleted, ideally I would rather have the entire account nuked rather than just disabled since I have no intent on using it. FYI since logging into this account the password has been changed but I'm still not sure the hacker might still have access to my account info. Thanks in advance.
2  Other / Off-topic / Mortal Kombat Style Cryto Dojo - Bitcoin Satire Videos [feedback?] on: May 19, 2018, 09:10:31 PM
Hey everyone, so the Bitcoin Youtube community is largely dominated by TA videos and I feel like there's room to try new ideas(?). I plan to create a series where I use satire / caricatures of industry figues (good and bad) and have them battle it out like in a video game. Each episode would be relevant to the news, so for example Zuckerberg disparages Bitcoin Core so they go to battle.

I've posted on reddit already and the idea was categorised as controversial however no comments. I'm hoping I can get some feedback because I'm a bit disappointed if people don't like the idea lol.

Here's a short sample which for now is just using two random characters (Ver vs Buffet) just to give you an idea of the format.

IMG Link: https://i.imgur.com/yBWBJLF.jpg

Charcters so far:
  • Satoshi Nakamoto
  • Craig Wright
  • John McAfee
  • Max Keiser
  • Wincklevoss Twins
  • Warren Buffet
  • Andreas Antonopoulos

So what do you think? Would you like to see animations like this with short stories, battles and featuring controversial figures? I would also make episodes reflecting the bull vs bear market, altcoins and anything and relevant to the community.
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Recovering Old Bitcoin QT Wallet Question on: May 14, 2018, 02:43:01 PM
Hello everyone,
So I've discovered an old Bitcoin QT wallet and followed the steps in this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a08MlPSSULU).

Basically the steps were to replace the old wallet.dat with my backup .dat and use CMD rescan.

I'm still downloading the Blockchain (which is going to take ages). My question is, should available Bitcoins be updated straight away launching QT (before the blockchain finishes downloading)?

Currently the total is 0.0000000BTC available. What's interesting is that I can already see all the transactions and comparing in/out it looks like I should have some BTC left over. Do I just have to let the entire blockchain download before available BTC is refreshed?

10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Altcoin for my Virtual Reality Simulator - Advice? on: January 14, 2015, 02:01:27 AM
Since graduation I have decided that it's time to recreate my vision of a virtual reality simulator of (hopefully) epic proportions. In spite of the fact I'm now unemployed I'm determined to build a VR experience that will attract a loyal fanbase and one that will hopefully lead to a full time career doing what I enjoy most (designing stuff  Grin).

Now that the intro is out of the way lets get onto the subject of my custom altcoin. My first disclaimer is that this coin is not necessarily going to be orientated towards competitive trading. Instead the idea is to create a coin that is specific to the Atoms4D universe, for example I want users to be able to buy fuel, electricity, weaponry and so on with the altcoin. In addition I'm also attributing value to every asset I build into the simulator, even land will have a price and can be owned/rented as virtual real estate. I think this will add a unique level of strategy and long term I intend to attract companies into the universe who could even offer incentives to users to protect their property. I think that a lot of my ideas in this regard have been inspired by Bitcoin and so I'm seeking advice from the community.

Given the nature of this project I'm curious what you would recommend in terms of specs for the altcoin? At the moment I'm thinking along the lines of using Scrypt and I've also decided I want to use powers of 2 which is just a random idea lol.

e.g... 32 Coins per Block ... 32,768 Halving Rate

Ideally I would like to design a relatively reliable coin and one that is will most likely only be mined by my sims userbase. Also I know I will get asked about Bitcoin and I feel it's simply not accessible enough in terms of mining. I like the idea of Atoms4D users mining and to be honest I basically just like the idea of branding my own coin for a niche community.

All thoughts and feedback is appreciated, also for more details check out the site and follow us on Twitter!

11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Atoms4D Virtual Reality - Bitcoin Square on: December 30, 2014, 10:35:02 PM
Hello all, it's the guy that brought you Bitcoin condoms lol. Anyway I'm back with a big project that I'm working on and I'm looking to the Bitcoin community for ideas. My project is called Atoms4D which is an upcoming virtual reality simulator with support for the Oculus and/or whatever devices are most popular in the VR market over the coming years. The simulator will have MMORPG style mechanics however I'm not treating the simulator as a game, to me it' more of a platform to enable users to build brands, promote business and to even earn money (+Bitcoins).

My main reason for posting here is that I'm planning on creating a "Bitcoin square" which will act as the financial district in one of the large moving cities in the Atoms4D Universe. The square can potentially be populated with a variety of business, brands etc related to Bitcoin and so this is an offer to companies, startups, non-profits and brands interested in owning some VR real estate (no costs involved). As the project has been developing every step of the way I have been thinking about how I can introduce Bitcoin into the fold and these are some of my favourite ideas (Bitcoin square aside)...

1) Virtual Reality Bitcoin Exchange (Ambitious but my favourite idea)
2) Bitcoin as in-game currency (Or even a dedicated altcoin?)

I should add that at the moment it's just me working on this project however I've made a fair bit amount of progress and users have already started to register which is a good sign. In fact some won't stop emailing me about this project. Anyway I feel as though if any community is going to get involved as Atoms4D early adopters it will be the Bitcoin community, especially considering the simulator is currently best suited to moderate to high end PC's  Grin. Eventually the experience will be available on Android, IOS, Mac and potentially even consoles so don't feel left out if you like crappy Apple products but for now I only have beta's for Windows users.

I will end with a short video preview showing an early development build which I will share upload as a second beta in the near future. Note that video is far from final quality and the textures etc will be fixed in upcoming betas. Oh and don't forget to share any ideas and to contact me regarding the square proposition, there will be limited space so I'm looking for quality and spaces that will add value.

12  Economy / Marketplace / Bitcoin Community Tower [Free] VR Real Estate Giveaway on: December 03, 2014, 09:21:28 PM
That's right! In an effort to promote Atomik4D and Bitcoin I have decided that it would be fun to build a "community tower" dedicated to Bitcoin users and start ups. This space will exist as part of a large virtual reality world with game like mechanics. The goal however is to also promote real businesses and create a thriving economy in a VR universe. I think Bitcoin users are the types that would see the potential in VR and so hopefully some of you will find this interesting.

So whats the deal? I'm giving away 5 of the small individual modules that compose the lower half of the tower as seen in the photo. In these spaces you will be able to furnish the room with pre-made and custom content such as posters, interactive items and even redirect links to your online services. Also this particular community space leads to a large communal area with lots of potential for hosting events etc. The conditions to win a space is that you need to share your ideas in terms of how you would use the space. Also ideally you would be willing to join (free) as every new user would be great in terms of building a community. The goal is to build content based on what people want and the more interest I can generate the faster the project will evolve.

Oh and I should also mention you will also find a nice selection of free items already available so even if you don't want a space in the tower you can still grab some exclusive VR real estate land etc.

13  Economy / Digital goods / BTCSense UK Bitcoin Exchange - Takeover this project? on: July 24, 2014, 11:12:27 PM
Hello everyone, a while back now I established BTCSense which is the bare bones of a UK Bitcoin exchange. My goal was to set up a moderate scale exchange that would function much like LocalBitcoins & BitBargain. To get the ball rolling I used a basic ECommerce system, however in the long run the plan was to get some developers on-board to code a custom system with adequate security etc. Unfortunately I'm currently working on other projects and thus this project has been sidelined. I thought maybe it's worth offering up BTCSense for anyone looking to take on a Bitcoin project, perhaps a programmer? The exchange is already ranking in Google for important keywords such as "uk bitcoin exchange" which is why I have been holding onto the project for so long, I have even been receiving emails asking when the exchange will be operational and I believe we can all agree the UK is lacking sources for Bitcoin.

If anyone is interested then let me know and maybe we can work something out? Also please contact me ASAP if your interested, I'm not looking for large offers as I plan to scrap the site anyway. You can visit the site here although I have disabled some scripts... btcsense.co.uk

Edit: Also I should mention that I own the BTCSense(.com) domain name too and social usernames so these can also be included.

14  Economy / Lending / 30 Day UK Loan - £50 - £100 - Help out a design student? :) on: April 14, 2014, 07:40:36 PM
Ok so I mentioned this in another thread but I forgot about this lending section. I am looking for a small loan, which will help me get my magazine designs printed on Blurb before my dissertation deadline. My student loan is scheduled for the 22nd, however I would like to make the loan 30 days just to be safe, chances are I will pay back the loan by next week. I have not taken out a loan from here before however I have conducted numerous Bitcoin transactions without Escrow and without any issues. My deadline is the 30th April, and I get my loan on the 22nd, that is not enough time to order and have my magazine etc delivered so getting some money early will help me get them printed in time. My identity is hardly anonymous which I hope lends some credibility.

Also note that I am looking for a GBP payment, otherwise I would have to go through the process of converting Bitcoins etc just to make my orders. If anyone from the UK is interested in this loan then let me know, this will be a quick no thrills loan. Smiley

15  Other / Off-topic / Small loan in the UK? on: April 14, 2014, 06:29:52 PM
Ok so I thought rather than bothering people here on the forums asking for a loan, I thought I would have better luck just asking about services that offers small loans that I should look into. The reason I am seeking a loan is so that I can print 3 of my Blurb magazines. I am working towards my final dissertation which has a hand in deadline of 30th april, yet my student loan will be paid in on the 22nd so that doesn't leave me much time to order and have the books delivered in time. Aside from my student loan I have never taken out a loan so has anyone used any of the online loan services that are reputable? I am only after £50 to £100 and a lot of services seem to have a £1000 minimum.
16  Bitcoin / Project Development / UK Bitcoin Exchange on: April 02, 2014, 11:18:15 PM
BTCSense
At the moment I am searching for one or two people to work with on this project. BTCSense is an online trading service that once fully functional will cater to the UK market as an exchange. At the moment the exchange process is manual and some-what time consuming, I am hoping to implement some automation to make the service more convenient for the end user. One positive however is the fact that BTCSense is already ranking incredibly well, I am also getting regular emails asking when transactions will be possible which is a good sign. The idea at the moment is to attract some like minded professionals who understand the value of catering to the UK market and who will be just as passionate getting the service off the ground in a partnership. Improving the efficiency of the transaction process and security is a primary focus, however some form of investment would also be required later on too. Ideally as the project evolves we can scale up attracting advertisers and investors etc.

I will soon be graduating and finishing my degree so I am looking to really get this project rolling, I think success will ultimately depend greatly on the team I can put together. This joint venture is open to any geographic however I am based in London so I would also appreciate any UK members to share their thoughts of the project and what they would like to see.

Spacesuit PRO (Project Management)
In addition I have also created a new business network for startups called "Spacesuit PRO", this would be an ideal platform to manage the project which is partially why I created the network.

Ok so today I was going to sell some Bitcoin on Bitstamp but it seems they now need verification which I suspect will take a few days. As a result I am just going to sell here on the forums, I have 0.3BTC to sell via UK bank transfer. Ideally I would like to make this transaction today as I wont be home until later tomorrow. I have grabbed the price from Preev without any additional markup so this is a fair price, I will NOT negotiate.

18  Bitcoin / Project Development / Spacesuit.PRO | Platform for Building Innovative Startups on: March 04, 2014, 12:06:40 AM
Hey everyone, I would like to share a new network called Spacesuit PRO. I am putting this network together to aid entrepreneurs, designers, developers, marketers etc who have project ideas but don't quite have all the expertise necessary to go it alone. The network will act as a platform for members to form new start-ups through joint venture and collaboration. Members are already able to promote themselves through user profiles, create new startup projects and eventually will be able to source professionals perfect for startup launches. Naturally my favourite Bitcoin forum seems like a great place to share this new service considering the amount of Bitcoin start-ups that are cropping up, so I am hoping some of you developers and Bitcoin enthusiasts join us.

Also until we get more members onboard the service is completely free, and will remain free for those who join at this early stage. Considering how fresh the site is we don't yet have much activity but that should pick up once new members start rolling in, thus invites are also much appreciated. If you have an idea for a business or happen to be working on one already then great, come join us. Hell you might even like to get involved with the development of Spacesuit PRO as at the moment it's just me, I am hoping the service will expand into an mobile app at some point. Smiley

Note: Please remember this service is very early beta, I plan on creating some videos and tutorials over the next few days.
19  Bitcoin / Project Development / UK Bitcoin Exchange Project - Joint Venture? on: February 23, 2014, 05:51:36 PM
Ok so long story short my name is Owen and I am a designer/student. I am also the founder of BTCSense which is a new UK Bitcoin Exchange that I have been working on while also experimenting with other various Bitcoin related projects. BTCSense at the moment is a rather basic exchange at the moment, and as a designer I honestly lack some of the programming skills necessary to really get the project of the ground. I have a list of big milestones that I would like to achieve before an operational launch of the service.

Requirements:
1) Automation - At the moment all the prices must be set manually, this is very impractical given the nature of Bitcoin so automating the prices would be a big milestone.
2) Bitcoin Stock - Obviously a sizable amount of Bitcoin in stock would be necessary to supply the exchange, the idea is to scale up but an initial stock of Bitcoins would be necessary.

I feel that these issues could easily be resolved with the right people on board, this is why I am interested in a Joint Venture. So if you happen to be a UK Bitcoin user with programming skills, relevant experience and/or Bitcoins sock then perhaps we could work together. Fortunately the foundations are already in place for a great exchange to evolve, the site is already ranking in the top page of Google for UK specific searches. The idea now as I mentioned earlier is simply to scale up. Here is a link to the site if you want to check it out. www.btcsense.co.uk

Note: I am currently optimizing the exchange using a new CDN so you might encounter some page speed/HTML issues.
20  Economy / Currency exchange / WTS 0.2BTC for £107 UKBT on: December 15, 2013, 04:53:06 PM
I would like to sell 0.2BTC for £107 as the title states. Please only PM me if you ready to purchase, my price is already lower than LocalBitcoins etc so no requests to negotiate the price. If there is no interest in the next few hours I will make the sale elsewhere. Thanks.

I have always made my transactions without Escrow and without any issue.
