421  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [EMUNIE] Open Beta One - Information & Schedule on: February 05, 2014, 02:28:01 PM
do you have a whitepaper - i would love to read about the economic model. fixing and almost fixing exchange rates is one of the most complicated issues in economics
No details but dan says he has solved this.
He will win nobel prize in economics!

And just don't mention his work with A.I. "Approaching Watson levels with 1/10 of the hardware" - Dan

Don't know what to think of that.
422  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why have a bunch of the eMunie founders + familiar faces disappeared from eMu? on: February 05, 2014, 02:24:49 PM

nice piece of convo here, for the 300,000 BTT trolls.

7:25:44 PM] Thomas Reimann: it is an issue, but we cannot decentralize it. neither ENS nor the asset ID system can be decentralized. as it will create a silk road a day later.
[7:25:46 PM] Dan Hughes - eMunie: They can complain, the complainers are the ones that will get us into trouble selling children
[7:25:58 PM] Dan Hughes - eMunie: thats why they are complaining, they want anon security but cant have it
[7:26:08 PM] Cobra: In my opinion as soon as bad press comes out like "the new underground currency" or something like that in the news it just makes it take longer for mainstream adoption because most people don't want to associate with that in any way.
[7:26:16 PM] Dan Hughes - eMunie: Greg yes that is the ultimate goal
[7:26:26 PM] Steganos: Exactly.  I think we just need to clearly explain why it needs to be this way.
[7:26:53 PM] Dan Hughes - eMunie: Steg job public wont care about centralization anyway, and thats our real market, because its the only market large enough to effect real change
[7:27:20 PM] Dan Hughes - eMunie: 300,000 BTT trolls aint going change shit, no matter how big their egos are
[7:27:31 PM] Thomas Reimann: "well, i thought there would be peers that approve the listing of assets?" how do you create a voting system that cannot be cheatet?
[7:27:55 PM] Dan Hughes - eMunie: Thomas, by thinking about it long, hard, and very carefully
[7:28:54 PM] Dan Hughes - eMunie: Im still on the long part btw lol
[7:28:54 PM] Thomas Reimann: I thought about it and found always a way to cheat it
[7:28:56 PM] Lloyd Faver: after the initial setup by Dan, why can't the vetted Dealer vote to recommend new assets to be added with the concurrence of the EDRC

The monetary system is decentralized. Assets id's can't be completely decentralized as anyone could create assets which step over moral grounds like paedophilia or children trafficking. But if the community could vote what assets are and not allowed i would rather have that than a centralized group choose what assets are allowed.

i'm starting to think all this trolling is to just get as much people out of emunie as possible until the IPO is finished, so they can maximise their profits.so people wont lose their money

fixed it for you

thanks bro

Java, MySQL or Derby are needed to run eMunie so what would happen if there is an exploit or bug found in one of them? Will eMunie be able to be easily updated without causing any disruption to running clients (other then a quick update/restart)?

Java 8 will be out soon and people will most likely upgrade to it, will this cause a problem? People using Java 6 haven't had much luck running the client so It seems like Java 7 is needed that's why I am asking this question.

Thank you.

Couldn't you say the same thing with bitcoin? as it uses C++ and whatever database software is uses.

Just saw a forum thread that there is also going to be a C++ client. Don't know how its going to be ported but we shall see.

Pretty much what eid said goes for me as well:

Lost faith in emuine, Lost trust in Dan so I left.

What I don't think is right is having an IPO before the exchange is done, if the exchange doesn't work then what happens to the price stability? We have always been told that the exchange will help keep the price stable and not jump around like the others. People should be made aware of this fact.

All u fucks have no idea what ur talking about, leave the business aspect to ppl who understand, not a bunch of delusional moron kids who think they have economics and ethics figured out by screaming centralized or decentralized. "Ooh we left because it was wrong, oooh im so ethical with a high moral ground, oooh but but its centralized, oooh IPO is not fair, the price wont be stable oooh its unethical ooooohhh" U idiots will lose out in the end, fucking idiots.

i got a beta invite, then realized it was written in java and deuced out. call me when its in something i trust(C++)

Why do you hate java so much, is it because its an internet trend to hate java?. Java is the second most used programming language in the world (next to C) , the programming language was also taught in my university. I've written in both python and Java and Java is a much more feature rich language for object oriented programming.

The Java docs are also extremely detailed.

I have watched, listened and read a lot of fear mongering on the internet about economic collapse, if anything I hope to dispel those myths today by showing some graphs.

What makes a good economy using an inflationary model?
A good economy should have inflation(consumer prices) increase at similar rates to the average wage rate of the economy. This would mean that the rising prices of goods and services will be compensated by the increase in the national average wage rate over time. But you may ask why have inflation in the first place? why money print?, this is done to have velocity of money, meaning it promotes people to spend and not hoard money, giving incentive for people to actually start businesses to catch some of that consumer spending.

A comparison between Australia and USA in terms of inflation and wages

An example of a good economy: Australia.

Wages: Average weekly wages.

Consumer prices/inflation:

As you can see the rate of change over time between both inflation and wages is very similar. This allows for a stable economy as it allows for velocity of money while still maintaining affordable prices for consumers.

An example of a not so good economy: USA
Wages:

Consumer prices/inflation:

The US economy inflation rate has actually been quite low and stable, the problem is that wage rates do not keep up, this is causing more disparity in wealth compared to Australia. What needs to happen in the USA is an increase in the national average wage rate to match inflation. There are ofcourse other variables that need to be considered such as unemployment rates but the general point i am trying to make is that these are the things that need to improved on in the USA. Don't be afraid of studying a bit of basic economics no matter how much some fear mongerer wants you to think otherwise, the more you are educated the better you can spot people trying to push you in directions for their own benefit.

And in case you are wondering, I am a crypto-currency advocate because i prefer not to have all the important economic decisions and control of money printing come from a central authority.

Can someone explain to me why is it a good idea to invest in the upcoming eMunie IPO?

Since this currency is anti-hoarding, why would I want to own it and invest in this IPO?

Hoarding or as i like to call it; "storing your economic power" is absolutely viable with emunie. A projected increase of 5% a year on the price as well as receiving a stake in the new supply of Emu's going into the system. Emunie can be seen as "anti-hoarding" only when compared to bitcoin as their is much more incentive to hoard bitcoins due to its 21 million fixed limit. The more people hoard bitcoin, the more the price of bitcoin rises and falls in an unpredictable fashion because demand spikes and hoarders cashout.

However when FIAT collapses due to excessive money printing; the issue i stated with bitcoin will not be a problem anymore as there will be an ecosystem of suppliers>merchants>consumers using bitcoin. But until FIAT collapses or made redundant, emunie is currently the best solution as a crypto-currency in competing with FIAT.

I like the goals of this creation, and I applaud the OP for following through. I have a couple comments.

2. Inflation: Your inflation model is unnecessary. There's no intrinsic difference between doubling the existing currency of people holding emunie, thus inflating the currency base amongst those people, and bitcoin's system of deflation which causes people to divide their earnings, only the latter is far simpler and likely less exploitable (if an exploit does appear), but at the least causes less worry. Everyone knows there's only 21m bitcoin ever, but there's no upper limit of emunie, so that's a bit less good. Because currencies in the past have often been destroyed by hyperinflation--that's the typical way for fiat to die in fact, and bitcoin makes that impossible, but it looks like your system does not, and that's a worry.

The only reason people/economists/governments want an inflationary currency if because most people are debtors and want their loans to become cheaper over time; most economists are Keynesians and want to manipulate the economy with credit and by creating new money, and governments can greatly increase their wealth and power by controlling where new money gets spent.

You create here a system where people who have emunie also receive the new inflated money. That satisfies none of the concerns and wishes of the people above and they'll be just as against it as bitcoin's deflationary model.

But at least you're not outright making it inflationary in the way that a government makes new currency for themselves and gets to spend it all themselves, stealing value from all currency holders, at least you're not doing that, so I consider it workable if unnecessary.

The inflation model allows the price of Emu against other fiat currencies to be more stable than bitcoin. This allows merchants to accept payments in Emunie without worrying about massive price swings. With Bitcoin, merchants usually cashout their bitcoins upon recieving payment.

I'm kinda confused by the FedoraCoin developments recently. When Fedoracoin first came out it was marketed as a "joke" / "tipping" coin similar to dogecoin. I even mined some.

But now with the recent development updates it seems you're taking what used to be a joke coin and trying to make it a more serious coin with new features, but you're still stuck with the old fedoracoin image.

Why not create a new coin with these features? I just can't imagine owning "fedoracoin", the image of the fedora makes me still think it's a joke coin.

Would like to get an answer to this too.

Sorry i meant the full release. Not the beta client.

Also hows the beta client been going?

irc doesn't work. message about a ddos.
Ah, well it should be ready in the next few days,

In that case i am going to invest.

Whens the coin mixing feature going to be released?
A beta is already available on the IRC, I would post it here but I'd rather testers come on IRC so that they can let us know if anything goes wrong.
A web-client to join us is at https://kiwiirc.com/client/irc.freenode.net/#team-tips
