41  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Barrier for newbies on: May 16, 2018, 11:11:49 AM
Merit system in my opinion was build as a barrier for new comers and gives an advantage to early adopters in terms of signature campaign.
It's purpose really effective to minimize shitposters?
Distribution of sMerit really given to deserving posts?

There's no denying the fact the merit create some limitations.

However, barriers are only in the mind, like it is in life; what some sees as barrier is what others take as challenge to achieve the impossible. Btw, there is no rule, law or regulation that will favor all, just take National laws as a case study.

Form what I've learnt so far, the merit system still remains the best solution so far (at the moment), except of course you have a better solution, in which case, you can please share and it might just be adopted if, it's better and fool proof.
42  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to get merit? on: May 15, 2018, 07:44:26 PM
Read this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3013411.0

The above was found by googling "how to receive merit in bitcointalk.' As you see, this question has been asked numerous times before and can be easily found by 'DYOR,' or doing your own research. In the future, investigate whether your question has been posted, redundancy is never a good way to receive merit. Furthermore, merit is not in the control of the person who is posting. If one is constantly trying too hard in their search for merit, it will show in the vacuousness of the comment or post. A better way is to be genuine, thorough, maybe even a bit creative in your posts/replies and simply hope you'll be rewarded at some point. As charlie chaplin once said, 'you'll never find a rainbow if you're looking down.' By 'rainbow' he meant merit, and by 'down' he surely meant down in despair as you log into your btc talk account everyday and see your unchanged merit score.

Seconded

Plus, make the search button your best friend.

And ready through these threads with an open mind;

43  Other / Beginners & Help / Trading Signal vs Pump & Dump on: May 15, 2018, 12:55:57 PM
Please, what are are trading signals, how do they work and are there real trading signals? Someone said all are pump & dump game, how true is that?
44  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Movies, Tv Shows and documentaries about bitcoin and Blockchain on: May 15, 2018, 11:12:07 AM
Thanks for sharing, I did find them interesting and especially a reference when introducing Bitcoins to some people/newbies.
45  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: NEXO on HitBTC on: May 14, 2018, 06:21:44 PM
NEXO is finally listed on HitBTC, but strangely the most volume is still on decentralized exchanges. Maybe it's a sign taht the days when adding to new, big exchange caused a big pump  are over. Even Bitfinex listing new coins have no effect on the price... I think Binance is the last place with serious pump effect going on.

I was thinking in this line, however HitBTC is the worst example to judge this fact. Listing on HitBTC seems to always create dump rather than pump.
46  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I got merits, lots of them - do you want some?? on: May 14, 2018, 01:25:41 PM
I disagree with most things you said. You want to say if we post only quality English we will get merit? No. Because I do post quality English but no onw merit me.

I think you missed the point, the forum is all about discussion which is communication; you'll not be communicating if other receivers can't make a meaning of what you are saying. Ordinarily, you will usually be merited by people who can make a meaning of whatever you posted. And since the language for the general (non-local) BTT boards is English, it should follow (as expected) that most people in the general language boards are English speakers, and can only fully make a meaning of what you're saying when the English is well conducted (quality English, in TMAN words). It might not guarantee you getting merits but definitely increase the chances, which I believe should be the target of anyone hoping to receive merits.

but no onw merit me.

For instance; I know the above is only a typo, but on a closer look, it doesn't take away the fact that, the simple 'e' letter typo can make the statement confusing to someone; who will have to guess the point you are trying to make.
47  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Analysing ICOs (applies to crypto investment in general) on: May 14, 2018, 12:40:32 PM
What are you paying per token? Has someone else payed less? What can you expect short-term, and long-term?
Many projects has 'private sales' for big investors, who gets to buy tokens at a much lower price.
This could for example be motivated as 'a sure way to reach the softcap', which might be true, but that could also mean you're making a bad investment.
The softcap is the minimum amount needed to continue on with the project.
The hardcap is the maximum amount.

Ensure that you're aware of this, since it's quite common for big investors to simply let the ICO run it's course, and once it's over, they can sell off a large amount at a higher-than-paid price, thus damaging the short-term value, and in extension, you would've been able to acquire a larger amount of tokens for the same price. This is not always the case, but it's quite common.
Look if there's 'vesting periods', for example, any early-investors has their tokens locked for X time to ensure stability.

Another thing to consider is; will a certain amount of tokens be held by the team?
If so, what prevents them from selling off a large amount? Will a contract hold the amount for a certain length of time?
It surely can benefit the development; but not necessarily your investment.
Be certain that you have a clear view of what's coming in the future in terms of the supply.

I very much agree with this and this a very important tip, this is very common these days and I'v seen it played out over and over again in the last few months. The reason this year.

More important is that a project/token that checks well against all other analysis factors could still encounter this problem.

I don't want to mention names but for example I missed a token pre-sale recently and while I was mulling over the miss, I became aware (from the telegram group) of it selling far less that the pre-ico price and the community was angry, those that bought during the pre-sale were bitterly complaining and couldn't understand while the Team decided to make the token available on DEX instead of Top Exchanges promised. So, it lost its short to mid-longtem prospect, though the project is still a very viable long-term project with solid foundation and unique idea.
48  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: After reading some rules, any help from us?I am brand new. on: May 14, 2018, 11:47:47 AM
I am new here and I already read some rules but not all.Can I hear from you some other guidelines help?

To add to all the advice above;

Make the search button your best friend, I believe someone must have asked or posted about whatever you want help with.
Also, always try to be as specific as possible and give as much detail as possible when you're asking for help.
It'll help you to get the most relevant answers.

Welcome and all the best!

49  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Token on myetherwallet but not MetaMask on: May 02, 2018, 11:14:33 PM
On MEW it's written 1000 FACE* and on my MetaMask 0 FACE (I tried to add these tokens manually).

When I go on https://ethplorer.io/ I see that the transfert is finished.

*example

In this case copy the destination you sent to right from the ethplorer.io page and use the same ethplorer to check this destination address to be sure of the balance, if ethplorer show the destination address's expected balance correctly, then you have to carefully compare it to the address you are checking on your MetaMask, also like @mithrim said you might need to check your MetaMask correctly to see if you have more than one address there and switch to the correct one that correspond to the destination address you saw on the ethplorer.io
50  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I got merits, lots of them - do you want some?? on: May 02, 2018, 10:59:31 PM
For me, it's simple;
There is a saying that;when you help enough people get what they are looking for, you'll find what you are looking for along the way.

* Be yourself, do your thing and have fun
* Let your mindset and motive be genuinely that of helping people and being another great forum member
* Think longterm, don't be preoccupied with short-time.
* Be friendly, act as if you are in an offline community

I was glad to have come across TMAN' guide, and having had the right mindset; I got 3 merits in my first active week with just about 20+ posts.
The last thing on my mind was merits, but it was a delightful surprise to see those merits, and as you can see I'm still a newbie...lol

My point is; if are a newbie, please drop the ego and listen to the words of advice. Let's join the Hero's to sanitize the forum and the $$ follow eventually and definitely.

There are no merits given just by commenting. The comments must make sense.

What makes a post "highly quality, make sense, helpful, etc" is relative and subjective, and trying to define it will only create unending, never conclusive discussion.

51  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Giving merit on: May 01, 2018, 05:33:21 PM
Thank you everyone. As you all can see, I already linked OP to a thread that explains everything about the merit system and he already thanked me.

Now you guys can stop bumping this thread with the same thing over and over again just to increase your post count.

THE THREAD HAS BEEN ANSWERED ALREADY.

Seconded

Thanks for this, was beginning to wonder what's going on!
52  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I got merits, lots of them - do you want some?? on: May 01, 2018, 05:01:25 PM
.
READ THE FUCKING RULES, both forum rules and individual board rules.

EDIT: use the search button, so many redundant threads

As a newbie myself I think the temptation of wanting to move up in status as soon you join, is always very powerful (something many newbie are unable to tame), therefore the effort and the time it takes to read the rules and use the search button, instead being fun becomes an overwhelming tedious task.

If only many of my fellow newbies can take to your advise, and also realise that; anything that will succeed and last long takes effort, time and patience, like the saying "slow and steady wins the race".

Another, crucial things is the mindset.

Many newbie were introduce to this forum by someone/others who have largely corrupt their minds  with idea that BitcoinTalkForum is a money minting machine and once you join you just start minting money, unfortunately many newbie will require a change of perception and will need to relearn.

But, luckily for many newbie who will take the time and effort to learn and grow, we have people like @TMAN, @Jet Cash and many other who are always ready to both guide and support you to go through your days of humble beginning meritoriously.

Thanks for the great advise, they're right on point. I wish every newbie will following your advice.

Great concept and interesting project, definitely joining the bounty.
55  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ✅[ANN][ICO A2A tokens]✅STeX Exchange - ALL Coins, ONE PLATFORM: 10,000+ Crosses! on: May 01, 2018, 07:30:30 AM
It is low profile now, and none of my crypto friends knows about STeX, which is a shame.
Really damn low

Hope it goes viral some day so everybody will start trading on this exchange.
Hope so too

Bounty should soon start, so stay tuned.
Will do

A2A is utility token, STE is considered security.
I get it now, thanks.

I'm also with you on this but knowing when it's the right time isn't that easy.
At least for now, it is the right time to really market the A2A ICO, except of course A2A ICO outcome doesn't really matter much to the Success of Stex.

I guess it's all a matter of the right marketing mix and even in this sideways market, any marketing would help.
It definitely will; a colleague of mine who's a serial ICO investor told me few days ago that he's only invested in just 2 projects in the last 2/3 months because he doesn't consider most of the projects he's reviewed over this period worthwhile the risk at this period (referring to the bearish market).

Competition is good for the market and the more exchanges there are the more STeX can excel and show it's advantages compared to those who came up recently.
And don't forget too that the good thing about competition is whatever feature SteX will have, if it makes a great sense, the competition too will probably have soon.

56  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ✅[ANN][ICO A2A tokens]✅STeX Exchange - ALL Coins, ONE PLATFORM: 10,000+ Crosses! on: April 30, 2018, 11:59:15 AM
This is an interesting project, it's a wonderful idea and something really needed in the current crypto space.
I came across it by accident, But, it really need more publicity, a very good way is well publicised airdrop
and bounty program, if they hope to read the Hardcap (which will be much beneficial because Exchange project
require a lot of investment).

Considering the amount of projects and ICO currently available and launching everyday, investors are overwhelmed
at a time when the market is bearish, investor are hodling position and so have much less liquidity for investment.
If you noticed, some of project have even postpone their crowdsale indefinitely, due to market current condition.
while many closed their crowdsale only surpassing their Softcap but far from their Hardcap.

No matter how great the technology, it will hardly succeed if it the right people don't get to know about the it at the
right time, especially as the competition is very stiff this days.

Btw, haven't hard the time to digest the whitepaper, please what category is the A2A token, utility or security token?

57  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can i make a posts anytime with no limits? on: April 29, 2018, 07:55:56 PM
Your post count does not influence your activity when you spam the forum, the only good thing that would come out of that, would be a account ban. Just post 4 to 5 posts daily over a period of 14 days and your activity will increase. It is more about your daily return to this forum and your frequency of use, than the amount of posts you make.

Just post naturally.  Wink

Seconded!

59  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How easy is it to use an exchange? on: April 29, 2018, 07:24:14 PM
Hi everyone! Im new to crypto and was wondering if anyone could advise me on what the process on exchanging tokens(say earned from a bounty or bought you might have in wallet) to another crypto currency is like? I havent done it before, so is it complicated? Any info on this would be appreciated Thanks!   ps: Excuse me if this has already been asked, but i havent seen anyone asking this precisely

If I understand you correctly, you are referring from the stage at which the token is already in your wallet, in that case that's very easy.

1. Since the coin is already in your wallet and has been listed on an exchange.
2. You simply transfer the token to your wallet on the exchange
3. If the exchange have a support direct exchange to your desire crypto coin, you just do the exchange directly
4. If the exchange doesn't; then you exchange your current token to Bitcoin and exchange Bitcoin to your desired crypto coin.
5. For example explore https://changelly.com to see how easy it can be.
6. For ERC20 token you can browse through https://idex.market, where you can exchange to Ethereum, then exchange the ETH to your desired crypto coin

All the best.
