And apply the fee to both buy and sell. It is the thought of a few people that free buy and fee'd sell is bad.
I think that doesn't change anything. If you buy some stock, you will eventually sell it again.

But it would be interesting if the trade volume would then count for both buy and sale. I think adding more tiers or lowering the distance between each tier would increase trades.

- Fixed the locking bug that caused several orders yesterday to be filled twice.  (or more)  This one was hard to track down.  The locking only got screwed up when someone placed an order they could not afford.  When a user did that, it cleared the lock as it exited, even though it was not the process that had taken out the lock in the first place.  Ugh.
What are the consequences here? That sounds like a horrible bug. For one my trade summary is screwed up, but how did you solve the resulting deviance in balance and stock count?

It seems the IPO is decided by luck and not the market

The server was not available for a few minutes. I guess that created some sort of backlog which needs to be processed.

I don't think so. My transaction was showing 1/3 confirmations before, and is now not showing up at all except on the "Deposit History" page. My balance has also not been credited. It has 13 confirmations right now on Blockchain. Undecided
The system uses a database as well as bitcoind-based system, its possible that both got out of sync. But it should be highly unlikely that the BTC are lost, the systems just need to resync. (Guessing here of course).

So if I want to buy some Labcoin IPO, do I simply have to wait patiently for it to hit the exchange and then buy?  The chatter I've read seems to indicate that people already have their buy orders in, and that the IPO is sold out.  Is that correct?
You can see at the outstanding count that no shares have been issued so far.

Thanks for the input. Double counting could indeed distort the picture and it's obvious when it comes to funds, but it's a bit tricky overall, because even some stocks hold shares sometimes. I remember BASIC holding AM for example. It's probably even worse when it comes to multiple trading plattforms and passthroughs. Another factor are commpany hold shares which are not intended for public trading. Not sure if they should be counted and if not, how to fetch all those data without manual input.

My overall goals:

1. Quantify the amount of money going in and out of the share markets.
2. Follow the flow of money within a market.

My assumption: a sell of one asset leads to a buy of another asset.

Wild example: people are dumping AM, BM and COG to buy ActM shares.
You may also want to take a look at other exchanges to get a greater picture of the market. I'm quite certain there are traders moving cash from one exchange to another after a sell to catch a lower price or buy a stock that's only available on one exchange.

But I guess in that case the discussion should move into its own thread.

API keys with trading and account transfer capabilities would be nice.

Our BTCT.co integration works very well and we have several loans per week that have BTCT.co assets as collateral.

In fact none of the secured loans have ever defaulted (in the case you are worried about mass selling efects).

API Key's are coming along. A bunch of API urls have been released to the beta users.
Don't get me wrong, I understand that creating the API is a time intensive process, but you said the same thing a couple weeks if not months ago.

Please be honest, what's the current progress (maybe as percentage estimation) and how long do you honestly think it will take until the API is available for the general public.

You may also want to clarify what qualifies someone to become a beta tester.
449  Economy / Securities / Re: [BTC-TC] BMF -- The Return of the Original Mining Fund on: July 30, 2013, 01:21:57 AM
Doing the math again, after 5 months let's say the company has made 100 BTC and repurchased 100 shares at 1.1 BTC/share. They would have 990 BTC market cap and 900 shares. This would be a gain of 10% per share. The best part however is that the 20 BTC is no longer a 2% gain but something slightly more. In this case it's clear that reinvesting into the company is very much better than just sitting on the money.
How are you purchasing 100 shares at 1.1 BTC/share with 100 BTC?

Ukyo, I am dying to use the api and develop tools utilizing it. Any schedule for the release yet? Could I get a beta account to at least familiarize myself with the API so I could start coding? Thanks you.
The API was "coming soon" back in may. I guess we won't be seeing it anytime soon.
451  Economy / Securities / Re: [BTC-TC] Virtual Community Exchange w/ Options, DRIP, 2FA, API, CSV, etc. on: July 28, 2013, 03:34:45 AM
The "Excessive wait trying to get lock on" problem really needs to get highest priority ASAP.

With now 106k BTC per month in trading volume, you can't tell me, that there is not enough money to ramp up capacities and put man hours into fixing these problems.
452  Economy / Securities / Re: shares offer in new business on: July 28, 2013, 02:02:57 AM
i am starting a bitcoin savings which will offer savings account, foreign exchange, loans
Beside from all the other problems with your offering, how are you trying to do this?

There are already dozens of exchanges available, how are you going to be different?

Savings accounts require paying interest and I guess the money for that will come from the loans. But how are you going to secure yourself against theft, delays in payment or honest bankruptcy?

Basicly you thought, hey banks are making tons of money with dollars and euros, why shouldnt I start a bitcoin bank?
453  Economy / Securities / Re: [BTC-TC] Virtual Community Exchange w/ Options, DRIP, 2FA, API, CSV, etc. on: July 25, 2013, 11:49:24 PM
So I really screwed up today and was adding security to my MT.gox account via Google Auth.

Well i overwrote my auth code for BTC TC.  I submitted a reset request but is this really 30 days?  Is there anything I can do to prove i'm not a hacker and get help with this quicker?  I totally understand the security measures but surely there is a faster option to fix this?
We offered other options, but it seems burnside will stick with this insane method.
454  Economy / Securities / Re: [BTC-TC] Virtual Community Exchange w/ Options, DRIP, 2FA, API, CSV, etc. on: July 24, 2013, 12:04:43 AM
They are significant numbers, not digits.
At some point you run into a maximum number of digits.
455  Economy / Securities / Re: [BTC-TC] Virtual Community Exchange w/ Options, DRIP, 2FA, API, CSV, etc. on: July 23, 2013, 10:38:26 PM

It should already be 8 digits where applicable.  Ex: https://btct.co/security/GSDPT

Thats also available through the API? Whats the maximum digitcount for LTC-Global? Still 4 or did it also increase?

LTC-GLOBAL has the same code as BTC-TC for the most part.

I don't think the div yield numbers are available via API.  They're kind of an interpreted value that you're better off calculating yourself using your own preferred inputs if you can.  (And I suspect you can if you're up to using the API.)

Cheers.

Sorry, I was talking about the entries in the order book. I noticed one entry with 8 digits after the comma (0.00000100) and was wondering if thats also applicable for the API (depending on stock price). Last time I checked the limits were 6 digits (after comma) for BTCT and 4 on LTC-Global.

should lower priced assets (like s.mpoe-pt) allow more than 6 digits past the decimal so that they can have 4 significant digits?

0.00087654 should be rounded to 0.0008765 to have four sig figs, but is being rounded to 0.000877 to have only 6 decimal places?

That's a display bug I'll have to fix.  Thank you for pointing it out!

I suppose this would also require an API change, or is it rounded correctly with the new version?
458  Economy / Securities / Re: [BTC-TC] Virtual Community Exchange w/ Options, DRIP, 2FA, API, CSV, etc. on: July 23, 2013, 10:39:47 AM
Well I don't want to hate or anything, but exceeding 100k BTC per month in transaction volume should enable burnside to upgrade the hardware and maybe employ someone for support.
459  Economy / Securities / Re: [BTC-TC] Virtual Community Exchange w/ Options, DRIP, 2FA, API, CSV, etc. on: July 22, 2013, 01:25:55 AM
I will be rolling out a change tonight that will limit any bid or ask order to a maximum of 4 significant digits.  What does this mean?  Here are some examples:

Bid           Becomes

10123.5    10120.0
1012.35    1012.00
101.235    101.200
10.1235    10.1200
1.01235    1.01200
0.101235    0.101200
0.0101235    0.0101200
Correct me if I'm wrong, but should the last 2 also be rounded?

Also, what about the stocks with very low prices like B.YAMBC, BTC-GOLD etc. 0.0003 or 0.0004 is a huge difference there. Maximum number of digits should be depending on stock price and not fixed.

Nevermind (fixed quote), so the 4 significant digits are counted after the first non-zero digit

I'd be happy, if you would announce major changes like this with a leadtime of 24+ hours and more visible in the future. Smiley
+1

BTW, does this also affect LTC-Global?

I don’t believe that someone would create such a similar account and just set people up to rob their property in such a short time.
Nah, everyone is totally honest and peaceful on the internet.
