I don't think so that bitcoin is slow, nor alts can beat in speed because at the spot bitcoin is the most expensive cryptocurrency and in last couple of years if u see the charts you will get to know that no other coin can even come near to the speed of growth bitcoin has.

Hmm in 5 years, for sure anything will be more advance since the industry will be adapting into changes in the system in the future. More coins would be developed, more projects will go succesful, hopefully scam and fraud projects would be lessened and also, continuous increase in the market price.
