That is for the normal pool ;-). On the solo pool you can't see separate users unless you know the address they're mining to so chillfactr is correct.

BTW, I'm running a full node myself. Bitcoin Core, but on a windows rig. I'm building a system to run on Linux instead and when this is ready I would like to use this to be able to solomine myself. But, what do I need to do, to make this happen?
Yes, I know. Your answer would be in direct conflict with your interest in your full node service here.. But I'm asking anyway Wink

AFAIK you can't just point your miners to bitcoin core anymore because asics are too fast. You need to find a proxy to act as a passthrough between your miners and core. -ck used to maintain the pool/proxy/passthrough software CKPool (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=790323.0) but doesn't anymore. Not sure if you can still use it but you're probably on your own if you do so my advice would be to look for other proxy software.

If you get it all setup you also need to think about block propagation. If you rely solely on core for this you see new blocks later then major miners because they're better connected to the network, so you could be mining on worthless old block information for some time, and it could lose you a block if you do happen to find one in a race condition. Major miners use http://bitcoinrelaynetwork.org/ for this so you'll need to setup that as well.

The benefit of solo ckpool is that all the above has been done and it works (you don't want to lose a block because you configured something wrong and that is a risk you take if you don't know what you're doing). If you want to do it to learn about bitcoin etc then go for it, or better yet do it on the bitcoin test network), but it isn't as easy as it used to be before asics and large mining farms.

edit: the relay network was created by Matt Corallo, on his github (https://github.com/TheBlueMatt) you'll also find a proxy.

Basically everything what DaveF said!

If you do decide to keep it alive then at least put up a simple front-end so people can see what's going on (hashrate pool etc). Right now people are just guessing.

Because the coinbase back then wasn't slush so btc.com isn't classifying those early blocks as from slush pool.

post by Slush giving the first and second block numbers: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1976.msg30769#msg30769. both found on december 16th 2010

Dude, do NOT download any software from random blogs but ALWAYS download from the official site / github repo or whatever is used.

Blocktrail was aquired by bitmain in 2016 and since Bitmain is losing money fast it has been closing offices all over the world including the one in Amsterdam (Blocktrail was a dutch start-up) so no surprise that Blocktrail is closed as well. Besides, with the btc.com explorer, Bitmain already has a block explorer so no sense in keeping blocktrail alive separately.

MRR states it's an issue with the rented miners not working with ASICBOOST I'm not sure what the issue is I do not think this pool requires ASICBOOST but that is what they tried to say.
They are full of it, their system just can't handle the connection. Last time I rented from them, about 2 years a go, they had the same exact issues. A rental would continuously start and stop. Apparently it had something to do with their system requiring a specific difficulty range and couldn't handle the automatic difficulty adjustment of this pool.
48  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Wu Announces BM 7NM pending Miner release. 42 J/TH on: September 21, 2018, 05:18:04 PM
The stated efficiency is only for the chip and not the miner (and only in a lab so best case) so I would expect something like 55 J/TH rather than 42 J/TH but that is not really that impressive since Whatsminer is doing that on 16nm.

nice tweetstorm from Samson Mow

and yes, I know Samson Mow and Jihan Wu aren't exactly friends but he raises some interesting questions.

@Gyrsur, this pool is almost dead. The change to the new payout system was initiated over 1.5 years ago (january 2017). Since then there hasn't been a new stats page. Although I do think wizkid has been a terrific pool op and is as honest as they get this has been dragging on and on and on and on. Maybe he's busy with personal issues, read somewhere he had a kid, but imho putting up a simple stats page doesn't take much time and should have been done ages ago.

I'm having trouble finding it. If somebody could lead me to the merit rules it would be appreciated. If I remember correctly it said asking for merit was fine as long as it wasn't done excessively. (paraphrasing but I thought that was the just of it.) If people think its in bad taste ill happily remove that part, don't mean any offense by it.

Can I ask for merit?

There is no need to do this and this behaviour is usually seen as 'merit begging' which is frowned upon by the community and may lead to you receiving negative feedback. Keep making quality, constructive posts and you will surely be rewarded over time.

There you go  Wink. Don't mean to put you down or anything, I believe you made an honest mistake, but if I open the meta forum it is just a sh*t show of merit topics and that is why I reacted  Wink

offtopic: just like the trust system I think the merit system is a piece of garbage

-ck, since 'the other guy' is blocking NH from his pool I assume that NH uses specific ip-addresses or something that identifies a NH rental? If so, could you then not also do an analysis of these rentals on the solo pool? I'm not saying that you should because the burden is with NH itself but I'm just wondering if it could it be done? (if you had the time and inclination to do so which I'm guessing you don't  Grin)

Why did you have to create a new thread for one small announcement?  Huh It doesn't make any sense,  it only clogs the forum.

Here is a quote,
So I have been in contact with Halong via MyRig. They have confirmed that are super backlogged on orders. Originally they had planned for April Batch 1, 2 and 3 to be the 1-10th, 11-20th and 21st-30th. However, due to some manufacturing difficulties they haven't been able to do any of this. The current plan is to start shipping April units on the 30th. Batch 1,2,3 will all ship in that order, but in rapid succession. The goal is to have everyone having miners by May 10th. Its possible you might get earlier, they said april 30th + or - 10 days, but more than likely + and not -.

Also, just a reminder for anyone who ordered the X series, make sure to get a refund (67% have been processed according to them) or exchange for another unit that they have. All exchanges have an ETA ship date of May 15th.

Feel free to merit me so I can get member status Smiley

i guess that is your answer Haggsfin  Wink

@userghost: although I appreciate the info you're providing I think it is bad taste asking for merit. The post either deserves it or not but asking for it is just plain wrong.

Ofcourse I can't say for sure if there are or aren't miners withholding blocks on nicehash but I've found multiple blocks using Nicehash on this pool so from my standpoint so far it's not a big problem (or I've been incredibly lucky). I do however think that Nicehash should be monitoring it as -ck says.

Hey CK, I'm using cgminer 3.7.2 with the gpu on my laptop but I just want to verify that its working and get some questions answered. Here is a screenshot https://imgur.com/a/Izw6B

1)Does this look right? It says I'm connected but my accepted shares is 0 and rejected is 8000. Is that ok, am I actually doing any work?
yes, you are connected and mining but not sure about the best share not being accepted by the pool since it is above the target of 4k. Could be that, since you're mining at such a low hashrate, the share was already stale when you found it. Also see my remark at the end of this post

2)And my average hash rate is 19.05Kh/s which means about 19,000 hashes per second is that correct?
yes

3)What about my best share, its been at 12.8k for over 12 hours now. In order to find a block the best share has to exceed the difficulty value which is 2.6T, so its very unlikely that my best share will ever do that but its technically possible right?
correct

4) How would I know if I found a block and what happens after that? What is the process like for getting the reward in my wallet and then cashing it out to an actual bank account?
You know when you see 12.5 btc appear in your wallet  Wink

5)Also when I did the configuration I put in my electrum wallet address as the user but is there supposed to be .0 or .1 after it?
only usefull if you have multiple machines mining so you can see the statistics per machine on the website

Thanks in advance, basically just want to verify that I'm actually mining and its working.

GPU mining btc is not feasible anymore. Theoretically it is possible to find a block with it but practically not. The big problem you are running into is probably working too long on the work given to you by the pool because of the slow hashrate so that it is outdated/stale by the time you find a share and send it back to the pool. I think you need at least one of the earliest asics, i.e. asicminer usb stick at 333 mHz, for it to work; still a very very very very low chance though.

If you're doing this for fun and to learn mining then fine but otherwise I would save your gpu and power.

it's the date and time in utc of when the last share was found. Should change if yoiu refresh the stats page.

Cool, thanks. So these stats don't show current difficulty then. I need to do some research on how to figure out how close my shares are coming based on these stats. I know with one S9, I'm WAY WAY off, but just learning at this point. Thanks!
Nope, they don't show current difficulty but a simple google search and you find it is 2,603,077,300,219

Sigh, don't blame others for your own mistake please. You were mining on solo.ckpool.org, note the word SOLO in it. If you wanted to mine together with other people then go here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1876330.0 and mine to pool.ckpool.org, note the word POOL as in a pool of people.

You are actually wrong, http://pool.ckpool.org/ redirects to http://solo.ckpool.org/ page. So correct addresses are:
http://solo.ckpool.org/ - solo mining
http://ckpool.org/ - pooled mining

Use only those and you should be fine:)
You are right when it comes to the websites but I was talking about the mining servers and then you do have to use pool.ckpool.org for the pooled mining  Wink

Edit: maybe that is confusing new miners and the website pool.ckpool.org should redirect to ckpool.org, just a suggestion for -ck.

Sorry, but you have no outstanding balance. Only time you'll get paid is IF you find a block and then you'll get the entire 12.5 btc + fees - -ck's fee. The chance of finding a block with your hashrate is barely above zero. Mining on the solo pool with such a small amount of hash is like playing the lottery.

Maybe you intended to mine on ckpool.org and not solo.ckpool.org?

Only problem with nicehash and port 4334 I've had is with fixed orders. Somehow fixed orders and ck's pools don't mix well together but using a normal order I've never had a problem.
