4401  Economy / Economics / Re: What will happen if the all countries convert to cryptocurrency? on: August 08, 2019, 03:21:52 PM
Now that more and more countries are starting to go cashless (http://www.bbc.com/capital/story/20180427-does-a-cashless-society-benefit-everyone), is it possible that we also start converting to cryptocurrency? If that happens, what do you think are the advantages and disadvantages? Paying virtually is very convenient for me as I do not have to bring cash and it prevents petty theft but what is the disadvantage?

In hindsight, it will be a disaster. Considering the political, technological, and financial statuses of other countries among the developed, developing and underdeveloped, there would be a discrepancy and potential manipulation of prices to the one who owns most of the bitcoins. Not to mention, cryptocurrencies have limited supply in their nature, which makes everything complicated.

Also do note that there are countries who cannot afford to adopt to an electronic cash system due to their insufficiency of technology (i.e. some countries in Africa, etc.).
4402  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Would you bet on a dog fight? on: August 08, 2019, 04:53:31 AM
This is not legal in most places but theres talks of other animals fighting so why not ask.
I know it is popular with Bitcoin and gamblings.

As much as I want to be completely unbiased towards the act, I am against any kind of gambling which involves animal fighting. I do not support these kinds of activities as they embody and reflect on what kind of society are we in the present days.

If there are people supporting/gambling in this type of event, I kindly ask to reconsider their decision and realize that there are various of gamblings around the world. Dog fighting or any kind of dangerous sport which involves killing does not have to be a type of gambling.

I don't think I can stand watching two dogs fight each other, of course, dogs also fight, but when you put two dogs in betting, the organizers will make sure that anyone of them will get killed to have a winner, I think they are using drugs and undergo these dogs to harsh condition so that they become wild.

At the end of the day, regardless on whether they are animals or not, if it involves life/death then I am completely against it. Respect for animal lives will reflect the character of our society and shape on what we want in the future.
4403  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which is better Government run Lottery or private run Lottery on: August 07, 2019, 05:08:20 PM
Philippine President Duterte suspended the operation of the government-run lottery because it is spam infested and many governments appointed officials are pocketing money coming from the sales, do you think it is much better to let a private company run the Lottery or they set up a monitoring board to check if all funds are all remitted..

Source : https://www.rappler.com/nation/236406-duterte-suspends-pcso-gaming-operations-july-26-2019

Your thoughts

If a private company were to control the lotto industry, expect people to sway and deviate from this practice. The reason on why the government controls this type of gambling (although it has been branded as a corrupt system), they still have the power, authority, duty, and goal for the protection of its individuals in the society. Having to be controlled by a third-party would mean that it will be a LARGE-SCALE gambling for all people that derives it profit from a fraction of what people bet.

I doubt that a private company would even attempt to do this as people may get easily scammed from this scheme.
4404  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is for scammers, yea right! on: August 06, 2019, 03:51:11 PM
<snip...>

So, next time when someone tells you that Crypto currencies are used for scams, please highlight the fact that most scams are still being done under the nose of the regulated financial industry.  Wink

I find the last line very amusing as most people ignore the fact that even highly-regulated investment methods and financial trades are prone to scams!

Unfortunately, cryptocurrencies have been branded heavily and portrayed in the media as a 'scam' due to its volatility as the price may be controlled by the law of demand and supply. These people who complain about bitcoin being a sketchy scheme are also the ones who impulsively invested in bitcoin and LOST due to something independent from their actions. They failed to study the market and so, join the bandwagon and blame about its existence.

Undeniably, bitcoin has already created tons of millionaires and inspired many to reach their dreams of owning their business, etc.
4405  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What do you think about Gambling and e-sports? on: August 05, 2019, 07:34:25 PM
With e-sports growing each day, like old ones Dota, Lol, CS and the new ones like Fortnite, PUBG etc, and competitions become more professional and more money are into, do you think soon we will be gambling with e-sports together with traditional ones?

I think it's only a matter of time, soon we will be betting on e-sports

E-sports are starting to become the next generation of betting considering its rising popularity among individuals who play the games itself. Not to mention, the prize pool of these said games reflect on how successful and popular the industry is.

I believe that some people here are betting on e-sports on their favorite team but what hinders it from expounding is its limitation on betting. Most websites that offer gambling in e-sports use in-game currency/items as the resource for betting, and not money.

Betting on e-sports events is already quite big thing. Now it still can't be compared with traditional sports, but seing how fast e-sports industry is growing, soon they may reach or even overcome traditional sports.
But personally, I've never tried to bet on e-sports - I know nothing about it and I'm not interested. I just feel strange when I'm watching how other people playing computer games. Maybe I'm just too old for it.

Like what I just mentioned, what limits e-sports from exploding is its limitation on the resources for betting. Most websites use game currencies as the money to bet and NOT money specifically. Most people that bet on E-SPORTS are also the people who play the game and experience the game, and not just some casual gambler who happens to gamble on it.
4406  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: New innovative cryptocurrency ICO: Triacoin - TRE on: August 02, 2019, 10:28:22 PM
Hi,

Upon checking the website that you posted (https://www.triacoin.com/), I noticed that there seems to be no picture of the current team behind the project.
Along with a number of recent scam attempts here in the forum, I highly advise that you post all the necessary details to clear all doubts and ambiguities.

Thanks!
4407  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Maximum bet amount on single bet! on: August 02, 2019, 06:20:56 PM
I think this forum has lot of regular gambler so I am interested to know how much they ever spend as highest bet amount in very single bet.

I remember the time I was with my brother and he brought around $1,000 in his pocket. He sweared and promised me that he will only bet a maximum of $200 either win or go home. But at the time of betting, he was on a consistent losing streak therefore losing up to $500. At his last bet, he told me that he will risk all of his money and if he losses, he will never gamble again.

To our surprise, he miraculously won and doubled his initial money from $1,000 to $2,000 that night. After that, he never went to the casino ever again.
4408  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What the future HODL? on: August 02, 2019, 04:54:53 PM
I have always emphasize on the HODL because it worked for me backed in the year 2017, when I joined the cryptocurrency community, I started with Bounties and hold them till 2017 and they all pay off. Impatience can make a potential investor or investors run at lost, so, ensure you HODL.

HODL may definitely work but it also requires some luck and strategy along the way. There are some people that I personally know that bought bitcoin back when its price reached $20,000 and they contend that it may reach sky-limit without doing any research. Unfortunately, they have suffered substantial amount of losses due to negligence and irresponsibility.

I personally view most of my cryptocurrencies as short-term investments so I could maximize their high volatility and sell them once I see a profit margin based from my initial investments.
4409  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why I don’t share Strategies anymore? on: August 02, 2019, 07:09:46 AM
People would always look for ways in order to make their lives easier and manageable. In some ways, they even go to the depths of knowing all the possible remedies to a situation just to rationalize their unfortunate situation. In gambling, most people would seek for the right strategy, decision, and mindset before they bet their money but they easily forget one integral factor: LUCK.

Luck is something that cannot be controlled, nor accurately predicted. There may be situations wherein we predict the outcome of a situation based on multiple factors and probabilities but if the odds are against your favour then everything would be put to waste.

Gambling is a method where almost everything revolves around luck. Others may win large sums of money but some lose a portion of their lifesavings.
4410  Local / Pamilihan / Re: [GUIDE] Using Coins.ph for Dragonpay (Grab Credits) on: August 02, 2019, 04:24:15 AM
Buti pa yung kaibigan mo, alam niya yan hahaha. Joke lang. Anyways, yun nga nakakatuwa eh, dumadami ng dumadami. Nakakagamit ako ng coins.ph wallet sa payment on some stores in Shopee eh.

Very convenient talaga siya sir!

BEWARE:
I tried loading GRABCREDITS pero hindi COINS.PH yung ginamit kong platform to load.
4411  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does gambling affect your overall lifestyle? on: August 01, 2019, 07:32:21 PM
<snip...>

First and foremost, I would like to extend my gratitude for getting out of the cycle of gambling. You have made a leap forward towards a successful and peaceful life. Gambling, if not, is considered one of the most deceiving ways of earning money. It starts when you start winning your first bet and the addiction you get makes everything uncontrollable from that point.

Most gamblers that I know personally have fallen and succumb to addiction. Unfortunately, they still are trapped in the illusion of gambling but I always support them in the best way I could. You have made the right decision and with that, I hope you become an inspiration to people who are having difficulties from removing this dangerous addiction/habit.
4412  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: if you want to win big...accept defeat on: July 30, 2019, 06:36:29 PM
hello gamblers
many players are complaining about the way they always get busted, they keep playing in the same way and they are doing nothing but making their loss bigger. the point here is not about greed or being greedy, its all about the right time to stop which is very hard since no one can predict the next move in gambling. many players make good profits but they keep playing instead of stoping, and it always leads to one result,,,bust. how ? once they make good profits and starts to lose they refuse to accept the defeat and keep playing to recover, and it ends up losing all they have, the case here is not about greed, but about accepting defead. once you accept the loss and say ( its enough losing ) you can take what left from your profit, do it over and over and you will make a good profit.
if you want to be successful in gambling accept the defeat first, and the game is all yours.
best of luck rolling

Hmm, I wholeheartedly dissent from your opinion as this may mislead people as this could render them to gamble more than their prescribed limitations. If you want to win big, then pray that luck is on your side the day that you gamble and NOT BECAUSE of betting big.
Sure, betting big may render you more results and chances to win but at the same time, it carries an underlying burden of HOPE.

Let us say you gamble BIG and it turned out that you lost all of your resources, then what would be the consequences now? This would eventually create an endless cycle wherein you gamble and gamble until you recover your losses.

To reiterate, DO NOT gamble big but gamble smartly with a definite plan and goal. Set a limitation on your winnings/losings to prevent from going overboard as everything may turn against you.
4413  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: [DISCUSSION] What have you learned on BITCOINTALK FORUM? Share Your Experiences. on: July 30, 2019, 03:53:32 PM
I joined this forum two (2) years ago when my friend showed me na pwede ka palang kumita ng pera online. Since may stigma ang online jobs due to networking, akala ko parehas lang siya pero nag-iba yung perspective ko noong first-hand ko siyang na-experience.

Throughout my stay dito sa bitcointalk.org, ito yung mga natutunan ko so far:

  • Cryptocurrencies (in general) and their nature;
  • Working online through maximizing campaign signatures;
  • Blockchain and its application in the marketing sector; and
  • Effects of cryptocurrencies in the international economy

Although in my stay of 2 years in this forum, it is relatively small compared to most people have learned in their journey in this forum. Regardless, I would say that what is important is we share our stories, provide our opinions, guide each member, and support fellow kabayans who are relatively new in the forum so they could do the same to the next generation.

Also, there are always room for improvements and learnings. I still find the technical boards and mining discussion confusing since I do not own, possess, or first-handedly experienced such.

Let us continue to grow (especially our local board) and support one another, especially na tayo talaga ang mag-tutulungan sa dulo!
4414  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: With Bitcoin, a future is not clear on: July 30, 2019, 09:50:59 AM
Hmm, investing into something that is unpredictable unlike most investment methods present?

I find your decision questionable as investing EVERYTHING into a stable market would yield a double-edged sword, especially that we are talking about BITCOIN (which has a high-volatility rate). If I were in your shoes, I would have diversified my investments and considered stocks for a relatively stable long-term plan/solution.

Although we may have different views, ideas, and predictions about the state of bitcoin, I wish you good luck on your decision as everyone hopes for a significant increase on its price in the near future.
4415  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you buy lottery online in bitcoin payment? on: July 30, 2019, 09:46:05 AM
<snip...>

The reason on why I purchase bitcoins is for investment opportunities provided by its high-volatility in the market. If I were to buy anything that could be purchased using real cash, I would have done so instead of using my bitcoins.
Like in your example, purchasing lotto tickets can be bought using cash inside stores or malls. It would be a waste to use bitcoins to purchase these tickets despite having the convenience to do so.

There is no risk if you won the lottery. There should be no issue in claiming the lottery. The real issue is that if you do not win the lottery all your invested funds will be lost. That's the only reason i do not invest in lottery as it is too risky.
It is wrong to say that you "invest" in gambling because you dont. You gamble your money in trying to make more money and the method is lottery ticket buying. Investment is something of a broader term here and although this is debatable, I consider gambling to be a mode of entertainment and not a mode of making money. The only person making money is the bookmaker.

Whether you decide to buy lottery tickets is your choice. I see people of lower economic strata, not having much of a savings to do, waste their money gambling and buying lottery tickets. Its because they are trying their luck because they have nothing else to depend on.

People who have the perspective of gambling their money to recover their financial conflict is in a pitfall. That would only worsen their financial situation especially when they consider it as their last ray of hope. Although there may be ample of opportunities outside gambling, if a person's mind has been blurred by this fact, then this would cascade into bigger problems.
4416  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Pacquiao Vs Mayweather 2 on: July 26, 2019, 04:16:09 PM
And when did Mayweather  became a monster?

He is a monster in running around not engaging toe to toe with Manny, he just want to win in scoring and has no plans of entertaining the fans.
Thurman is a real monster than him, he was not afraid to face a bigger monsters.

Honestly, half of me wants a rematch but the other half says no way since I know what to expect already.

True.

Thurman never went to a dirty boxing mode unlike Mayweather.
If there will be a fight against Manny and Mayweather again then it will really be all about the money.
People will think that they are milking them and might get their supports down.
Although they are near retirement it will still be a loss if they are doing business in different countries.
They might have a lot of money but it will still run out, if not managed correctly.

I will never pay for pay per view for that match but I might bet with Mayweather. It will be the Boxing administration who controls it and they will never stain that record of Mayweather anymore or any lifetime.

Well to be honest, Mayweather played by the points and the rules but Pacquiao played to his heart and goal. Mayweather knew that if punches and runs, he would be able to score more points than Pacquiao but that would lead to a totally boring match.

No matter what we say regarding the fight of Mayweather or Pacquiao or no matter how negative things may be, we will always look forward to that match and support our respective idols. In my case, I'm all in for Manny Pacquiao because he is the people's champ, and OUR champ!

4417  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Bitcoin, or diversified investment? on: July 24, 2019, 07:39:50 PM
It is always best to diversify our investment.

Going to reiterate what he said, preferably, diversifying your investments would be the ideal move as this lowers the risk while increases the chances of you yielding income in the future. But all of these depend on a number of factors especially your capital, knowledge, and experience on investment as a whole.

If may extra capital ka for short-term income, it would be preferred to invest and purchase cryptocurrencies to take advantage of their high volatility and yield short-term income. On the other hand, if you vision your investments for long-term, it would be best to purchase and acquire stocks of companies depending on their status.

Either way, makakapag-yield ka dito ng income IF may patience, tiyaga, and determination ka to earn. All of these depend on your goal as an investor.

4419  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Man won 12 times in lottery on: July 22, 2019, 12:21:03 PM
This is actually interesting. Something that everyone thought to be mathematically impossible was cracked down by one man and proceeded to win the lottery 14 times! This goes to show that with that kind of intelligence and dedication, one can exploit the wonders of almost everything that can be computed!

Interesting that the formula and the algorithm are hidden in public. I guess the government somehow controlled the data and secured it to prevent abuse from people doing it.

Are we talking about the probability here? Its already computed and there are so many set of numbers before you win even if you are genius in math. Well, you still need the luck and if that man really won 12 times then he should win more because he already know how to play it. I don't want to be stressed because of solving the numbers, its really hard and not easy.

Maybe he or his team developed some kind of algorithm that would limit their number choices. Nevertheless, the number of tickets required to fullfill such need lots of investors! But come on man, winning the lottery 14 times goes to show his unparalleled genius and skill compared to anyone.
4420  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: You don't loose if you don't encash on: July 21, 2019, 04:07:39 PM
Hey  Smiley

I once came across a time when I was unsure where the market is going to take us , thus I brought at a very high price , unfortunately the price came down as quickly as it climbed up.

The reason I believe I haven't lost even a single penny is because I believe you cannot loose when you don't encash.

Therefore I still believe holding for the long term can actually help you .

Taking your quote against you, you don't also earn without withdrawing your bitcoins!

It is essential that you set a limitation, cap, and a goal on your investments to know when to cash them out. Long-term investment and holding may yield you income but you may miss opportunities arising from sudden spikes and increase on its price due to its high volatility. You may want also to consider short-term investment as it may render you income relatively better than a long-term HODL.
