1  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Devin Haney vs Ryan Garcia on April 20 on: April 30, 2024, 08:14:44 AM

Ryan's success is going on his head he also mentioned that he also wants to fight Anthony Joshua can you imagine that, he thinks he is invincible right now, he admitted that he had ADHD in one of his interviews we can understand his situation but telling something almost impossible is something worth laughing about.

His likely opponent is Pitbull Cruz because he has a good chance of beating him compared to Spence who he only wants to fight because of Derrick James issue.
Right now with Ryan Garcia's success, all eyes are on him because of his unnatural antics outside of the ring.

It appears that you are the perfect victim for the trolling of King Ry in social media hehehehe. This occurs to people who are always believing in what they read on the internet or in newspapers. They are using you and taking advantage of you my friend. King Ry has tricked many people already, I shake my head that this is still working on some people. Everyone should begin to be very skeptical on what Ryan will say. He will be a crazier troll or he might be starting to have a real sickness in his head. I am quite certain he is only trolling.

And Ryan started to troll again, but as boxing fans, we all know that it is not possible for him to fight a heavyweight simple as that. I remember Ryan says before as well that he will be fighting Manny Pacquaio next and the boxing world was abuzz when he posted that I will tell you that I also feel for it as I thought that it's real. But after this fight and he wins, everyone should know that Ryan is a total troll, he might have his mental issues or he has ADHD which is by now very obvious. So we will see who he will be fighting for it it's officially announced. Pitbull Cruz name might be in the list if Ryan will love to have a belt. But I hear Oscar's interview that they are not interested on Pitbull Cruz for now.

Nah, I find it impossible for Ryan Garcia to fight Anthony Joshua when he moves into the heavy weight. I mean, I understand that he won against Haney but moving to the heavy weight division? That's another beast that me must deal with given that the boxers in that division are naturally weighted individuals who has the power of the earth in one punch.

I mean, sure, Ryan Garcia won and he was very aggressive in portraying himself as the villain in social media. But when you are moving to another weight division and battling the beasts there, that will definitely be a beating that he must prepare to.

There is a reason on why Pacquiao never even bothered to move beyond welterweight. According to him, he was surprised when he survived his fight against Margarito and even saying that he hit the hardest1, to wit:

Quote
"When I beat Margarito, the commentators asked me if I would defend the title, I said no, I didn't care if they left it to him," Pac-Man recalled. "(His punch) is different. It was surprising that I survived that fight. I could take the punches, I could take the blows, but after the fight I could feel something, it was too much for me."

So again going back, if Ryan Garcia moves to the heavy weight division and fights Anthony Joshua, then we should expect results that are most likely obvious..

2  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: In Your Country Who Gamble More? Young Ones or Elderly Ones on: April 30, 2024, 05:41:57 AM
Do you see such elderly people in your country? Or is it only in Africa? Is the younger ones play gamble more than the elders?

Both I think are engaging in gambling.  The adoption of smartphones I think contributed to all these siesta moments even in the time when they are supposed to be working.

Social media is more addictive than gambling though, this is where people are spending more time on social media trying to learn what each other is doing.  But the casinos are also grabbing attention especially if it's about national sports, people are betting on it online regardless of age.

I agree with you. With the rise of technology that somehow influenced the elderly, they are now discovering ways on how to gamble on their respective mobile phones.

Before the pandemic happened, I noticed that there are lots of middle aged to elderly people who were high rollers in such casino. Additionally, I rarely see young individuals gamble at physical casinos; or if there are any, they rarely stay.

Now after the pandemic, the rise of online gambling has skyrocketed its popularity where everyone seems to try it. Not to mention, even the elderly are now shifting to this method since most online gambling websites made it convenient for them to participate (e.g. simple controls, etc.).
3  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is Gambling A Hobby? on: April 27, 2024, 03:50:14 PM
<..snip..>
Upon all those sources and explanation, I still need the community input on the argument to know if gambling is a HOBBY so that I and the person will understand more.
Cheers.

I think it is relative and flexible on how you categorize something as a hobby.

According to the Webster's Dictionary, the definition of a HOBBY is:
Quote
noun. Definition of hobby. as in pursuit. an activity outside of one's regular occupation that is engaged in primarily for pleasure.

So again, hobby is defined as an activity primarily for pleasure and entertainment. Like what people have discussed in this forum, gambling can both be a hobby and as a form of profit depending on how you view it. There are people who view it primarily as a way of making money; and there are people who see it as an alternative means of earning income though in a risky environment.

In conclusion, gambling can BOTH be a hobby and as a form of profit depending on how you approach it. There is NO absolute answer here as these perceptions may co-exist with each other depending on the goal of the person gambling.

4  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Your favourite exchange can be nowhere to be found on: April 27, 2024, 02:47:53 PM
Since its advisable to keep funds on our own noncustodial wallet then leaving on exchange is solely based on someones preference. You got it mate, some of these are high tier exchange before like FTX but experience a disaster trimming of funds. Only trust few with reliable and trusted one backed up funds like Binance or maybe OKX.

Unfortunately, Binance has been negatively tagged by our SEC since the company failed to comply with the requirements provided under the laws of the Philippines. Though this may be the case, Binance has released a statement saying that they will fulfil such responsibility in order to provide exchange and trading services in the country.

I do agree with everyone here that leaving your BTCs/cryptocurrencies in exchanges are risky given that you have no right with your private keys. Having a custodial wallet is still the best way for security in order to guarantee full custody over your coins. This will not only benefit you in the long-run, but it will also give you the highest form of security that many still fails to take advantage.

QUESTION:
Given that we know custodial wallets hold the safest way for security, do you guys have any recommendations on how to start? I have been a forum user since 2017 but I still hold my BTCs inside exchanges. Are there any guides in order to transfer my BTCs in exchanges to non-custodial wallets?
5  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you think Bitcoin can end poverty? In a nation today on: April 27, 2024, 02:12:33 PM
For me proverty is not the problem of a person but of the whole nation in my country the eradication of poverty has becomes necessary for the sustainable and inclusive growth of the let state the fate here Bitcoin has helps the poor by Increasin their savings and access to capital also it has help around 1.7million people in my country and also it has also impoverished people to control their investment.

Bitcoin can have an effect into poverty but I doubt that it can completely eradicate it given the circumstances being faced by each country.

Remember that developed, developing, and underdeveloped countries have their respective economic and financial struggle that varies depending on their priorities. For example, underdeveloped countries have problems ranging from having no access to basic needs (e.g. clean water, food, infrastructures, etc.); while developing and developed countries may still struggle with having job opportunities, corruption, etc.

Sure, Bitcoin has significantly improve some of the lives of the investors but it being used as a tool to completely eradicate poverty? I doubt so- but it can definitely fix a dent on the economic struggle of some countries if they have laws that align with its interest for its people.
6  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The Rise of eSports Betting on: April 27, 2024, 01:44:44 PM
Esports have become one of the fastest rising betting markets in the world. There are several factors for this, including the advent of cryptocurrency in sports betting markets, which makes eSports betting something that every handicapper should check out. See below for the top factors that has led to the rise of eSports gambling along with its strong connection to crypto sportsbooks.
Personally being a gamer I have known esports from my gaming community and a because I do play some of these games too , but the real game changer was when gambling companies have got into partnership deals with most of these esports teams which has really given the sport some real visibility and marketing platform for both parties which is a win win...and for some reason I wonder why the partnerships has to do with crypto sports bookies but they really have made their mark...

Me too! All my life, I have been surrounded by computer shops and online games which definitely influences me until now.

E-sports betting has been around since the rise of Dota 2 way back in 2013. Before, you can bet in dota2lounge.com using skins which have a specified $ value to each item. There are also odds that are present similar also in sports-betting. I would love to bet on E-sports if there is a designated cryptocurrency betting site for it given the vast knowledge that I know from a number of games (e.g. Dota 2, CSGO, Valorant, etc.).

As you all know, e-sports are the new generation of gaming. Heck, there is even a designated Bachelor's Degree being offered in one of the universities here in the Philippines named as BS-Esports (Management and Game Design Development).1

7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do we really need to blame fraudsters on: April 27, 2024, 10:43:59 AM
I somehow disagree with the points you have raised, OP.
Quote
I think no matter the new app with added security or software, people would still fall into scam as long as they chose to remain ignorant and disregard security consciousness, we can not protect anyone's holding for them, no matter how many treads on security and how to avoid scams are introduced, at the end of the day its a personal responsibility and each person must play their role in their safety.

Yes, I am an advocate that people should always exercise the most care and diligence whenever they try to deal with downloading applications or registering into a sketchy website. But the fact that there are people who intentionally scam others is not an excuse to a person's ignorance.

At the end of the day, it is all about the existence of these scams. Sure, newbies are party to blame in this perspective but at the same time, why would you scam in the first place? Again, you do not blame the victim- you blame the offender for creating a harmful situation that exposes a newbie's innocence.
8  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Understanding the Impact of Social Media in Gambling. on: April 27, 2024, 08:46:53 AM
But how this could affect the mindset of the kids when they are also seeing these ads/promotions from the social media influencers they followed? I could be wrong but this has a mental effect on them and at a very young age, they are exposed to gambling already which is supposedly not the right time.

I think these influencers must know their target audience before accepting the offer or should not be included in their vlogs or videos?

Funny thing that when I was reading your post, there is a perfect example that I want to share with everyone.

There is a famous GM in Chess named Hikaru Nakamura which is widely known as one of the greatest chess blitz player in the world. He is also famous in the chess community since he consistently posts videos on YouTube about his games and moves. Also, he streams regularly where he created a community due to the rising popularity in chess. Basically, it is like you are watching a wizard do magic tricks in the chess board which makes him very entertaining to watch.

Recently, he streamed and he suddenly played gambling games where he asked his viewers to explain on how online gambling works on that game. When people tried to call him out on his stream, those people were banned from replying.

Now, do you know the dangers of the actions that he just did? His whole viewership consisted of both beginners, adults, GMs, and even KIDS who want to learn or at least witness his greatness on the chessboard. This created a potential danger to his community especially if it peaked the interest of kids (as kids are naturally inquisitive and curious) as we already know on how gambling is addicting.

9  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbies take bitcoin as long term Choice to get the best out of bitcoin on: April 26, 2024, 05:59:12 PM
Some newbies locate this forum as soon as they make they first investment into bitcoin, and searching for knowledge and information on they investment, but the original intention is for bitcoin to make them a millionairs in the next day after investment, this is the reason why some of them borrow money to invest in bitcoin or using money that they need to solve real life problems to invest in bitcoin with the aim to make profits in short term.

Just to add to your story, I remember back in 2017 when the halving happened, the price of BTC jumped from $4,000 to around $19,000 at that time and people started discovering BTC due to various news being spread across all social media platforms. Due to the halving, lot of people invested into BTC without even knowing what it is in the first place. Basically, their FOMO made them invest onto something that they barely new.

Long story short, majority of these people who invested lost their money since the price came down to around $15,000 at that time. The unfortunate thing is, these people who lost their money due to FOMO are the very same people who started spreading fake news on social media platforms saying that BTC is a scam, etc.

Quote
If you have the above mindset as a newbie investor then you should know that your are on a long ride of being disappointed, because no one know what the outcome will be for bitcoin in terms of bitcoin value in the next minute, that is the reason one need to hold bitcoin with the knowledge of long term in view, to stabilise and build you and your investment up with time, before achieving the true financial freedom.

The moral of the story- learn the basics first and understand on what you are investing in. If you invest into something without fully understanding what you are buying in the first place, you will most likely cash out your investment sooner resulting to a loss on your part.

Learn and enjoy the process of investing into BTC. Again, investment does not guarantee positive results but if you do your part as a diligent person would do, then expect great things to happen in the near future.
10  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Binance nagpahayag ng pag-asa na pwede parin silang mag-operate sa bansa natin on: April 26, 2024, 05:10:49 PM
This is truly good news especially for both new and veteran cryptocurrency enthusiasts given na kilala na talaga ang Binance when it comes to security of an exchange. To be honest, I tried using GCash Crypto kaso namamahalan ako sa fees and they only offer simple services. Mostly, para siyang similar to coins.ph pero parang mas limited pa yung mga services na pwede magamit dito.

With the recent news na mag ccomply na si Binance with all the regulations required by the SEC, then mukhang ito na ulit yung magiging exchange na gagamitin ko both for trading, selling, and transferring funds.

Sa panahon talaga ngayon, security ang pinakamahalaga kaya if naging successful yung pag pass ni Binance ng requirements and na-approve na to ng SEC, then lipatan and balikan na!
11  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Blogs and Forums. Additional Features in Online Casinos on: April 26, 2024, 04:58:17 PM
There are online casinos that have a blog where their clients or potential clients can turn, to read gambling related articles without leaving the website. There are also online casino websites that have its own forum for their clients like a community interaction.

In addition, there are the ones that do not have any of these features. While  some of us may just want to sign up and start playing immediately, it is not so for others. Do you by chance consider these features when assessing and selecting which casinos to join and play on?

Yup they are a factor if there is at least a live community that have discussions about the gambling website.

The existence and presence of forums, social platforms, and discussions are factors that strengthen the legitimacy of a gambling website. The fact that an online gambling platform created a designated thread/community in order to discuss any kind of improvement or at least have a community for socialization are green flags. It also implies that the casino values having discussions that can strengthen the community as a whole.

A gambling platform is nothing without a community. This is also the reason on why this forum, sometimes, serves as the community of these online gambling websites due to the presence of several ANN threads of gambling websites here.

Though this may be the case, this really depends on the online gambling platform if they have this kind of service or not. I do think that having an active ANN thread in this forum satisfies that requirement of having a community, without a need of implementing a separate community on their website.
12  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Lies told to cover up gambling habit on: April 26, 2024, 03:41:34 PM
Nope- I do not think I have lied with anything related to gambling as I am very open with anyone who asks me about my experiences.

When I used to gamble, I actually tell everything to my friends and family so that they would know my experience. Even if I experience something that is negative, I always tell them the truth since I believe that they deserve to know everything. Not to mention, by telling my experiences, they could also discern and decide whether they want to try gambling or not.

On the story that you provided OP, it was painful for me to read it. I think our partners deserve to know everything even if it is something that could affect the overall relationship. If you lie on the small things, that could escalate and create a snowball effect into something bigger- a lie that can transcend into different small lies that would eventually evolve into a bigger problem in the future.
13  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is the least risky gambling game at online casinos? on: April 26, 2024, 01:43:20 PM
I've never bet on any online game other than fortune tiger (very little), I want to try something new, but I also want to learn about sports betting and stop just supporting my football team.

Please recommend non-slot casino games that are fun and have interesting odds.

Just to reiterate, there exist no such game where the odds are in favour of the player- the house wil always have the slight advantage in order to profit as gambling establishments are businesses, in essence. If a player wants to at least know which game that has the least risk in playing, then I do recommend trying out card games such as poker, blackjack, etc.

Card games are essentially games that have a mix of both luck and skill. A player can gain a significant advantage if they can apply various techniques and skills against opposing players to snatch a win from their hands. For example, in the game of poker, a series of techniques may be employed by a skilled individual to have the advantage over the others, such as bluffing, etc.

As I have explained above the existence of skill-based games in casinos, there are also games where no skill is involved but they do have the riskiest profile. A good example here would be slots- no skill is involved (as you only push a button) but the downside is that the risks are great.
14  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why the Reluctance? on: April 25, 2024, 08:38:00 PM
In the Philippines, the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) estimates that the gambling industry will generate $5.9 billion as revenue for the year 2024.

Quote
The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) is anticipating gross gaming revenues (GGR) in 2024 to reach PHP336. 38 billion ($5.9 billion). This target represents a significant increase of 17.9 percent, equivalent to PHP51.1

From this fact alone, you can see that the gambling industry has a significant effect in providing revenue for the government. In return, these funds would be use in order to create infrastructures, job opportunities, and other relevant services that will inure to the benefit of the people in the country.

While gambling establishments are heavily regulated, one cannot deny the fact that it is responsible for bringing the highest revenue in the country; that is the reason on why the Philippines is somehow lenient when it comes to gambling laws and its execution/implementation.

15  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: You are responsible for your own safety. on: April 25, 2024, 01:14:29 PM
I very much agree with the points that you have raised.

It is very ironic that Playstore/Google has been taking action despite all the complaints that have been circulating since then. The funny thing is, the regulation in order to register any kind of application in the playstore is not stringent which results to an influx of many fake and scam exchanges and/or wallets throughout the years.

Again just to reiterate once again, prevention is better than cure. Before you download something on any kind of online store in your mobile phones, always check for genuine feedback and reviews from this forum itself. This thread is an excellent source of information that can warn users in order to avoid downloading the WRONG application which can result to your coins being scammed in the process.

Everyone, please be vigilant on the things that you download on in the internet. Not everything on what is posted is genuine- always be skeptical about everything as scammers just need ONE opportunity to scam you and they will do it swiftly.
16  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Streaming community are getting worst!!! on: April 25, 2024, 10:18:38 AM
Have you notice? In the streaming community, the influence of gambling is getting worse. Have you noticed that many streamers have started to stream gambling and promote it? Sad, but it's the reality.

Like what I explained in my previous replies, it is always a two-way street and perspective when you think about gambling promotion and advertisements from streamers.

Generally, streamers get paid via advertisements and/or promotions in which they are hired for. For example, there are certain companies who hire streamers to endorse or to stream for a minimum number of hours per week and they have to fulfil that requirement to receive payment. Additionally, streamers are also getting paid by businesses in order to advertise a certain product/service.

Sure, gambling promotions and advertisements have been rampant currently but you also have to look it on the perspective of the streamer in which they use this ads as their source of income for their needs.

Quote
I'm noticing that the streamers I'd used to watch because of their gaming contents and also streams that they do while gaming are fading; they are focusing on and promoting gambling platforms, and the alarming thing is that those streamers used to have young viewers who also played the games they were streaming, and suddenly they left it all out and changed what they streamed, which was gambling.
Anyway, what do you think? or can you say about this streamer transitioning to streamers whose content is gambling? Feel free to share your insights.

I think this is where we must draw the line between stream of profit from gambling advertisements vs amount of content in which they advertise.

On my first reply, I explained the two-way street of understanding streams of income from these streamers. But on the other hand, they also have a duty to limit the amount of gambling promotion they advertise on their streams. If you are watching a streamer who mainly plays games and then he transitioned to a purely-gambling stream, I think that is a sign that you must stop watching or limit your stream visits to his profile.
17  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Land Based Casinos in the Digital Age on: April 25, 2024, 08:57:45 AM
Hey everyone,

As online gambling platforms continue to grow in popularity, I’ve been wondering about the future of traditional, land based casinos. With the convenience and accessibility of online betting, will brick-and-mortar casinos become a thing of the past, or will they evolve to offer experiences that can’t be replicated online?

Do you think they’ll manage to hold their ground, or will we see a shift towards exclusively digital platforms?

I think that land-based casinos would hold their ground since it is within the scope of tourism.

Las Vegas is known as the gambling capital of the world. Not only does it attract users around the world, it also becomes part of tourism where people would visit such place in order to experience the gambling atmosphere that Las Vegas exclusively offers.

Though the popularity of online gambling has become prominent over the last years due to COVID, the socialization and experience that you get to feel when visiting land-based casinos cannot be imitated in an online setting.

Instead of thinking that online gambling would soon overturn land-based casinos, they can always exist mutually with each other. No one has to go as they can exist with side-by-side catering to different types of people who prefer gambling otherwise.
18  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What are the biggest mistakes made by beginners in online gambling? How can they on: April 24, 2024, 05:24:23 PM
What are the biggest mistakes made by beginners in online gambling? How can they be avoided?

Here are some of the mistakes that I think a beginner could experience:

  • Beginners often have high expectations in gambling to the point that they think that they can win every time they gamble;
  • Overspending or going beyond the budget allocated for gambling;
  • Beginners tend to chase their losses by betting again;
  • They often go all out since they do not understand the nature of gambling; and
  • Being overconfident.

There are still lots of factors that beginners make whenever they try to gamble but I submit that chasing your losses by gambling and overspending beyond your means are the biggest mistakes that they may experience. Gambling is a game of chance- meaning the result can always go either direction depending on your luck. Newbies lack experience so they tend to have high expectations of winning the jackpot, so, they tend to continuously gamble until they get what they have hoped for.

Shout out BPI!

If you want to purchase something siguro through BTC, I guess the best way pa rin dito is to contact mismo the seller and ask them if open sila tumanggap ng BTC as mode of payment sa kanilang goods.

Also if I am not mistaken, I think kapag may sale/transaction din na magaganap sa mga dealers, I think need mag reflect ng purchase price yung cash na binayad for tax purposes?! Not sure dito pero kung BTC yung gagamitin, not sure kung paano mag rereflect sa receipt ito pero alam ko pwede magawan ng paraan ito if ever.
20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi Nakamoto's last message on: April 24, 2024, 04:19:59 PM
Satoshi's last message before his disappearance was that he has 'moved on to other things'. Now my question is this, if actually Satoshi Nakamoto saw a good vision of what Bitcoin will turn out to be in the future, why then did he decided to move on to other things instead of focusing more on the Bitcoin project to make sure that he also took part in achieving the adoption of this digital currency? So unfortunate Satoshi should have been the one to answer this question.

I've moved on to other things

This is what makes Satoshi mysterious- he always lefts clues behind to the point that there was a designated thread discussing his speech pattern and sentence construction.

In reality, no one truly knows who Satoshi is. Maybe he is a single person doing behind the work; or perhaps Satoshi is a pseudonym for a group of persons or organization, etc. At the end, I really doubt that we would be able to uncover his true identity- not that it matters anyway.

Let's all be thankful that Satoshi created this innovative technology that probably changed the lives of majority of the people who know and take advantage of its uses. It can either be a currency; or as a form of investment.
