61  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin investment on: November 15, 2019, 09:53:59 AM
I do not think nor did I read such a piece of advice in this forum. It would be nice if you can share the link to that post.

The money that you should invest in Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency is the money that you can spare to lose. Any kind of investment is risky, so always invest when you know what you are investing for.

From the day I joined this forum till today this is what I have always read in this forum and have advised to others.

Go to this link and see the reply number 232.

Not pointing out persons but when senior member suggests this what would you expect from others.
62  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin investment on: November 15, 2019, 09:38:33 AM
I have seen people here as well as on internet who suggest people to go in Bitcoin whatever they earn from their income sources like Job, Home, Real Estate, Other assets etc.

This is not the wise choice. Whether you say good or bad to Warren Buffet but being one of the greatest investors he said " Dont put all your eggs in one basket."

Thing is we are still unsure about the future and adaptability of bitcoin or crypto currencies. What if someone enters in crypto with all what he got and loses due to some volatility?  I have seen people like Didi Taihuttu who sold everything to buy bitcoin. But have you ever thought what was his entry point? His entry point was less than 1000$ per bitcoin. By the way i discourage this behaviour of Didi Taihuttu to put all your money in a single thing.

So be sure where are you going in future and be realistic with your goals and just execute them. No one will have ever written on his grave that "He earned more than the market average."

Kindly dont give bad advice to people here and on internet. Just take it as an opportunity not as a thing to put all what you got.
63  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: how to earn free altcoin ?? on: November 15, 2019, 09:21:43 AM
Be grateful that you have 0.01BTC right now. Don't spend it and treat it as your best investment today. The thing that you can do is to buy more and if you don't have cash the right thing that you can do now is to get employment.

Buy bitcoin using the salary you will earn from your day job.
Never put all of your eggs in one basket and this is the good thing.
64  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Has Been Profitable for More Than 94% of its Existence on: November 15, 2019, 09:19:50 AM

We have all heard the warning, ‘past performance is not a guarantee of future results.’ However, this warning is hard to ignore when an asset like Bitcoin has generated profits across more than 94% of its lifetime.

This is exactly the case with Bitcoin (BTC), a cryptocurrency that is a little more than a decade old with a history of shattering its previous all-time highest values.

Source link here

I still feel some regrets though. Way back in 2010, somebody mentioned to me about Bitcoin and must invest some. I replied like "What the hell is Bitcoin?". I ignored that for so long until years later, well......you know how I feel.

I also know some of you are having the same feeling too. However, I know that it's not yet too late. I was just lucky enough in holding some satoshis while it's still around $3k in January and sold it when it reached almost $13k during the sudden boom.

For me, this is way more better than investing in gold, federal reserve notes or treasury bond, but highly risky as well.

So you are judging a thing by what value market is giving it. Really? Come on.
65  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Intrinsic Value of a crypto on: November 13, 2019, 08:26:32 AM
Nobody will be able to provide you such an information about a crypto currency. The core problem is the anonymity that hides all this data and the majority part of crypto community still believes that regulations are bad and have nothing to do with crypto.
Then a crypto can never be fair.
66  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Intrinsic Value of a crypto on: November 12, 2019, 11:52:23 AM
In stock market, it is easier to have a guess of intrinsic value of a stock by having a look at the annual reports of the stock. When it comes to crypto, it is totally based upon the different speculations of different people. Launching an annual report by crypto would be a great thing to have for the investors including information like
How company earns the profit in the recent years?
How it has earned it?
What assets it has and what liabilities it has to give?
Balance Sheet
Profit Loss Statements etc.
Otherwise people would lead themselves to a dead end. Because when you not make money then how can you can sell an associated thing to that business for money.
Ultimately it would lead us to have a good look at the intrinsic value of a crypto.

68  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What have been some of your biggest losses/mistakes and successes with trading? on: November 11, 2019, 05:44:58 AM
Any interesting stories to pass the time while we wait for the next boom?

i used to sell my NANO (then XRB) for like 100 sats daily.  many people did, it was easy to get and profitable
when it first launched it was given away from a faucet at 1000 coins per claim, and there was no timer on the faucet, you could claim all day. i got millions daily
i remember thinking it was broken and asking the dev and he said it was on purpose to get the coins out there

XRB got rebranded into NANO, and later had an ATH of 30+$ per coin.....     people had millions of coins, but we all sold them for cheap Cheesy

Can you name that Faucet? Anymore faucets like that?
69  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Did Zuckerberg deserve this from Lawmakers and Financial Services Committee ? on: November 11, 2019, 05:43:14 AM
So I was wandering around on youtube and I came across this video( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lw7M7QamQgI ). I realized that the ideas behind the creation of Libra Coin by Zuckerberg are very similar to that of Bitcoin, which I felt that he is just being smart to launch a crypto coin like Bitcoin.  But do you guys think He needs the approval from these people before launching the Libra Coin? Personally, I don't think these people understood what he is trying to develop. This video really explains why Satoshi decided to remain anonymous. Satoshi knew that these people will never understand his ideas and contradict the development of Bitcoin.

You can't compare a selfish billionaire like Zucker with someone like Satoshi Nakamoto. For me, Satoshi Nakamoto is someone who created the concept of cryptocurrency and the best part about him is that he never tried to profit out of his invention. Even if he sells all the BTC which he currently holds in his wallets, he'll be richer by $10 billion. But he has chosen to remain anonymous and there exists no evidence to prove that he has profited out of Bitcoin.

On the other hand, Zucker is someone who was very hostile to Bitcoin initially. But he changed his stance once he came to know that he can make money out of cryptocurrency. As far as I am concerned, Zucker is someone who is trying to steal the idea of cryptocurrency and profit out of it. To this date, has has never acknowledged that he is stealing the idea of cryptocurrency from Satoshi. All he wants is to boost the stagnating revenues of Facebook. For him, cryptocurrency is just a tool to increase the market capitalization of the Facebook stock.

Dont know about all you talked but simple is that we cannot give our sensitive data to Facebook anymore.

So if LIBRA comes out and becomes a stable coin. If LIBRA gets accepted by companies then simply Facebook will now have all your spending information along with your personal information etc. Is it good for the people of the World? Is it anonymity? Will LIBRA be ANONYMOUS?
71  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Pax a good holding on: November 04, 2019, 05:32:15 AM
I am selling BTC and want to know if PAX is a good holding spot till there is a low in BTC again?
If you want to sell BTC and buy PAX then just buy USD for BTC. Simple Why depending on third party?
72  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Tether Backing Problem on: November 04, 2019, 05:24:08 AM
As claimed by tether.to, every USDT is backed by traditional currency and cash equivalents and, from time to time, may include other assets and receivables from loans made by Tether to third parties, which may include affiliated entities.(Quoted from tether.io website).

So basically with every passing year the value of USDT is decreasing due to the inflation caused and ending in decreasing the buying power of USDT. So i am not going to invest or convert my Bitcoin into USDT which is backed by FIAT.

Bitcoin is increasing with respect to USDT but it has to cater for inflation as well so a holder can be in profit. We need USD/BTC pair not USDT/BTC pair. Why should one trader rely on a third party token when he can trade directly the USD.
73  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Promoting ICO scams on: October 31, 2019, 12:00:29 PM
I think every service provided for customers is definitely the best, maybe they do verification that we don't know, we can't blame CMC because their ads are also the best, behind that we can see in 2017 all competing to make money from crypto because Butcoin prices have increased dramatically, now we must be careful in participating because they are scammers who know how to follow the paths that are provided in every crypto room today.
Bitcoin got down from very high point as market corrected but Sir this talk is about promoting ICO not crypto market crash.
74  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Promoting ICO scams on: October 30, 2019, 12:08:04 PM
Going back to 2017 scam ICO launchings, one thing for sure, sites like Coin Market Cap have played a very big role in promoting those scams. Yes they did it because they want money but one thing they should realize that this thing would lead to distrust of new people in crypto which would ultimately also close their shop as well.

Coin Market Cap takes a huge amount of money from those scammers.
When i contacted CMC, i got this email.
Hi, and thanks for reaching out! Our pricing is based on impressions:

Desktop Formats:
·      Top Banner (728x90)  - $14.00 per 1000 impressions
·      Side Banner (160x600) - $8.00 per 1000 impressions
·      Bottom Banner (728x90) - $4.00 per 1000 impressions
Mobile Formats:
·      Top Banner (320x100) - $8.00 per 1000 impressions
·      Mid Page Banner (300x250) - $6.00 per 1000 impressions [Coin Detail Pages only]
·      Bottom Banner (320x100) - $4.00 per 1000 impressions [Coin Detail Pages only]
May promotion:  10% bonus impressions for orders of $25k or more

If these sites just go for some verification before promoting these scams, it would be very good for the visitors. Verification can include Mobile verification, Identity verification etc. These sites are an open image of crypto, if these sites just reduce their earned money by a bit and plan for long term then it would be beneficial for all of us.
75  Other / Meta / Re: We need fresh design on: October 28, 2019, 10:24:26 AM
If by fresh design you mean a new UI/UX, then there's one already. Migrating the website is what makes it difficult. Check the 'New Forum Software' sub-board.
What is eh difficulty in migrating?
76  Other / Meta / We need fresh design on: October 28, 2019, 10:03:49 AM
Bitcointalk is here for years now and being Pioneer in the industry it should be something appealing to the users. Bitcointalk needs a fresh design. Being a forum which runs on community support all the members are requested to help at least a bit.
77  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin's acceptance in the World on: October 22, 2019, 11:46:47 AM
There is a major issue which is becoming resistance in the way of Bitcoin to be accepted globally and it is its "Volatility".
In the near past we have seen Bitcoin dropping more than 15% in a matter of 3-4 hours. And there are a number of cases in the past like this.

This property is too much dangerous for any entity which is holding Bitcoin. If a company sells products/services of 10000$ and receive payment in Bitcoin, and bitcoin loses 10% in one day then basically company has lost 10% worth of their products.

Scenarios where gross profit margins of the companies are less, this property makes nearly impossible to accept payments in Bitcoin. If volatility of bitcoin is decreased in the future, it would be  a major step ahead.
78  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: who else think Litecoin will go huge? on: October 22, 2019, 11:08:11 AM
BTC dominance right now is very higher which is danger for altcoins. This dominance has to come lower in order to LTC along with other altcoins to grow.
79  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: HTC Launches Blockchain Phone With Full Bitcoin Node on: October 22, 2019, 11:03:00 AM
A full bitcoin node with only 64gb of storage? The blockchain size is larger than that and I don't expect this phone will maintain stability if you run it as a 'full node'. It supports extra memory though, but hey, that means you need to spend more money.

A pruned node is what you can run at best but even with that, you can't expect to use it without any problems. Why not build an SPV client for god's sake?
Dont know about the expandable storage option. But if it is there then it can be increased with good amount as compared to real storage.
80  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / HTC Launches Blockchain Phone With Full Bitcoin Node on: October 22, 2019, 10:11:26 AM
HTC has launched a new blockchain phone with Bitcoin (BTC) network support. The Exodus 1 will allow users to run a full Bitcoin node.

https://usethebitcoin.com/htc-launches-blockchain-phone-with-full-bitcoin-node/

On the all, phone is just on the side of lower end phones with Snapdragon 435, running Android 8.1. The screen is a 5.7-inch HD+, coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. There’s a microUSB port and, good news, a headphone jack. The new device lowers the barrier of entry to €219 (~$244). It is available in all of the various equivalent cryptocurrencies.

It can be a step up in the field of crypto to get reputation on the global scale.
