321  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [SELLING] Great World Coins from Own Collection for Sale on: March 15, 2017, 02:30:48 PM
You're repeating the same argument that I've already invalidated in my previous post. Please read my previous post again. (The face value is not a meaningful measure for the purpose of collecting, otherwise Casascius coins would be sold for their face value only. Collecting does not equal investing.)

I'm offering real world coins to those who are interested. You don't seem interested - that's perfectly o.k.. The success of my offers here is actually better than anticipated. This indicates that there are indeed collectors of real coins in this forum who appreciate my offers and are aware of the collector's value of my coins.

The benefit of collecting Casascius coins is that not only do the have great collector value (as evidenced by the activity on this forum and eBay), but they also carry a face value...a guarantee of value, literally. If someone believes the numismatic value has deteriorated they actually can redeem the loaded value, it's a floor on the loss of the investment.

Totally agree that some may prefer your French Francs to Mike Caldwell's Casascius coins, but you are trying to sell your French Francs (and others) to the physical bitcoin crowd here.

I think you need to offer something greater to generate real interest from people here. Why are these coins worth collecting? Give us some examples of "diamonds in the rough" that are possible to obtain through your batches. Why are French Francs worth something now in the age of the Euro?

Just trying to help. Good luck. I collect fiat and Casascius coins, I may be a unique one in this group.

About what kind of guarantee are you talking here? It's basically collectors being interested in buying Casascius tokens. Nobody can guarantee that the high amount of interest in physical Bitcoins will be equally present in the future.
So physical Bitcoin tokens in no way offer any better guarantee for lasting collector's value than the coins I'm offering here. In fact - outside of this forum - the community with an interest in real coins is much larger.

For collecting coins, the face value is basically meaningless. In fact the most valuable coins are quite old and their face value can no longer be redeemed. Would you say that a Casascius token is sold just for the loaded Bitcoin value? No! There are even empty coins that are sold for significant amounts and there are other DIY Bitcoin tokens which are sold without any Bitcoin loaded.
This alone already shows that collecting is not done with the motive of a value gain. It is done for enjoyment and has an aesthetical and social dimension.

For the price you're paying here you get more than 10 times the number of real collector's coins than you would pay for a typical Bitcoin token. I'm selling here for much less than I could, because the sheer number of coins would require too much work to put in each coin separately.

324  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Something Odd Is Happening at Bitcoin’s Largest Mining Pool Read more: http://w on: March 05, 2017, 05:59:22 PM
Strange.

Why would the largest miner on the network be stifling the capacity we already have? The owner of AntMiner claims to support the on-chain transaction model. This news seems to contradict that position.

The owner is pro Unlimited Coin and wants to artificially create the impression of capacity problems to force a shift in public opinion towards bigger blocks. It's the same old strategy the Andresen/Hearn/Ver crowd and their shills is using since months.
325  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "BTC Will do to banks what Email did to the postal industry" on: March 04, 2017, 02:42:31 PM
I very much agree with this quote. Banks will be forced to evolve, because their traditional core business will no longer be profitable because of Bitcoin.

I imagine that banks will either concentrate more on (risky) investment banking or become financial insurance companies (insurance against data theft for example).

You have to keep in mind that postal service is not dead. The downturn almost exclusively applies to traditional letters. In contrast, parcel services are booming because of the growth of online shops.

In 20Jahren wieder? Endlos?=Sinnlos!

331  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [SELLING] French Banknote 100 Francs 1995 -- PRICE DROP! on: March 01, 2017, 01:43:56 PM
The year of the note is 1995. Please read before posting.

Anyway, I'm open to reasonable offers.

This is a note form 1995 from the K-series (K.276, the note I'm offering here is K.277 - I didn't find a note matching the same exact series number):

www.ebay.com/itm/100-Francs-Delacroix-Type-1978-442-1-442-2-1995-K-276-NEUF-/191845151077

So actually my price is fairly low in comparison.

hooo .... all my bad : sorry.

here you are for a 1995 one !  ( 4 euros sir ! )

http://www.ebay.fr/itm/BILLET-DE-100-FRANCS-DELACROIX-1995-M-259-/142292297339?hash=item212148267b:g:DBQAAOSw-0xYVBZ5

Obviously the note in this offer is in very bad condition. And it's from the more common M-series.

yeah .. you're true sir. ( as admited in the post just above )

here's a better one:

http://www.ebay.fr/itm/Billet-100-Francs-France-1995-/321586563989?hash=item4ae00d8b95:g:b00AAOSw2XFUZ4ML

It's a better one, but it's still not K-Series. Anyway, international shipping for this offer costs 8 EUR. If you add that to the offering price, it's not cheaper, because shipping is already included in my price.

Seems to be some of the old collections of coin. Actually quite inquisitive that how did you manage to get this old coins from ? And why you would not like to keep it to yourself as a souvenir rather than selling it?

These coins have been acquired through many years of my numismatic hobby. I bought entire collections and also did a lot of swaps with other collectors. Over the years however, the collection grew out of proportions and lacked a clear focus. For that reason I've finally come to the conclusion that it would be better (time and money-wise) to specialize on a few areas of collection only and to sell those coins that do not fit in or are duplicates.

Because I've amassed so many coins, I'm willing to sell them in lots at cheaper prices. The alternative - selling each coin individually - would just be too much work given their sheer number.
336  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [SELLING] French Banknote 100 Francs 1995 -- PRICE DROP! on: February 25, 2017, 02:48:21 PM
they are not so "rare" in fact ... i'm France based , an i can tell you there is a lot easily available in fact ..  Wink

This note is from 1995. There are other years of the same note which are more common. I consider the pricing fair.

If you see an international offer for this note at a lower price, please point me to it and I'm willing to match that price.

338  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [SELLING] French Banknote 100 Francs 1995 -- PRICE DROP! on: February 22, 2017, 06:34:07 PM
Price lowered to just 0.015 BTC!

That's very fair for this quite rare collector's banknote (most of these banknotes have been exchanged for Euro before the deadline, so only few have been kept).
