341  Local / Marketplace (India) / Re: [WTS] [UPDATE] Lots of Great World Coins for Sale - only 0.0075 for a pack of 5! on: February 16, 2017, 01:58:27 AM
Can you please post the real pics of coins?

This is a real picture of a selection of a few of my coins! It's too much work to make pictures of all coins because they are all sorted and their number is huge. The reason I'm doing this kind of sale and not selling each coin individually is to save time for me.

See my other offers for examples. I can make an overview picture of a specific lot for an interested buyer. Apart from that I accept escrow.

can i get Coins Information that you will send ? I just wana check is coins are really worth ? I am also coin collector

I tried to establish categories that reflect the value of the coins you will get. This is to save work for me, because it's really time consuming to compile a list with 100 or more coins. For this reason I adjusted the price downward.

Of course it's also possible to work out an individual deal based on a list. Please send me a PM and tell me how many coins you want and from which countries and I'll see what I can do.

blamieren garantiert, also... Cheesy

Warum nicht: Weiter seitwärts zwischen 980 und 1020 USD.

How is it possible to vote for the best site, when you have only tried a few sites on that large list?

I think the "best site" based on this poll will simply be the site that's most widely known. - But this list is still an inspiration to try different services.
346  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Greg Maxwell is now the owner of Bitcoin. That's all. on: February 10, 2017, 12:12:12 AM
In contrast to Roger Ver and his army of trolls active in this thread, Greg did contribute significantly to Bitcoin progress and did a lot of work to improve security, scalability and privacy of Bitcoin. And I'm grateful for his work.

Roger Ver and his possibly bribed mining pools act out of pure self-interest. He is not trustworthy - not a bit.
347  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] Soviet Union Ruble Coins - Really Cool Collectible on: February 08, 2017, 05:10:31 PM
Two sets sold, 4 sets still available. All superior quality.

Meanwhile - to get the right feeling for this period of history - I recommend listening to the former state anthem of the Soviet Union: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U06jlgpMtQs

348  Economy / Collectibles / [WTS] Great Historical French Franc Coin Set - SOLD! on: February 07, 2017, 06:01:06 PM
An interesting showpiece of monetary history:

The Evolution of the French Franc before and after the Second World War - a total of 3 sets are available

This interesting set of 5 coins shows how the French Franc changed during an extremely challenging period of modern history. During these times, the Franc was more than once exposed to currency devaluation. So apart from its aesthetic appeal, this set a great showpiece for the risk of entrusting personal wealth to governments.

Historical Background
The first coin of this set was issued after the First World War. It is a form of emergency coinage, issued by the french Board of Trade to cope with the economic crisis and coin shortage at that time. (Despite being victorious in the First World War, France suffered greatly from the war. Germany failed to pay reparations since 1922, entering hyperinflation itself.) This coin is made out of an aluminum-copper-alloy.

The second coin is the result of a currency reform in 1928, during which a new exchange rate for the Franc was established that fixed it at 1/5 of its pre-war value. Thus coin is made out of aluminum-bronze as well.

The third coin was issued by the Vichy puppet government during the German occupation of France (1940-1944) in World War II. Note, how the slogan of the French Republic "Liberté, Égalité, Fraternité" (Liberty, Equality, Fraternity) was replaced with "Travail, Famille, Patrie" (Work, Family, Fatherland) and a fascist axe emblem was put on the back side of the coin. The coin was made out of (cheaper) aluminum.

The fourth coin was issued after the end of the German occupation and shows the return to pre-war design. However this time, the coin was made out of pure aluminum. During this period the French Franc faced significant devaluation: 1945 its exchange rate was set at 480 francs for one British pound, in 1958 the exchange rate was 1382 for one British pound.

Because of the significant currency inflation, in the year 1960 the French government enacted a currency reform, leading to the minting of "New Franc" (the "New" was never put on the coins however). The exchange rate was 100:1 (old Franc : New Franc). This New Franc - the fifth coin - was made out of (more valuable) nickel. But even the introduction of the New Franc was not the end of currency devaluation in France. The Franc remained a relatively weak currency, loosing more than 85% of its purchasing power until the adoption of the Euro in 2002...

Condition
All coins at least VF grade (I picked the best quality I could find). From set to set coin types are identical, but years may vary.

OP I don't blame you.  I didn't come to this forum to earn money, I just ended up in a campaign after posting here for quite a while.   But people DO come here just for these campaigns and end up writing a bunch of bullshit.  And accounts get sold to these idiots, which encourages farming, and the farmers don't make constructive posts...so it's a huge shitfuck all around.

I agree with you.  But we need a solution, not to complain about it.  DT trust members tried to curb sales, but it doesn't work.  We need help from above (Theymos) to implement a policy change, which he will not do.   Undecided

If my memory is correct I've read somewhere that this forum once had restrictions for new members - they could only post in a certain area. That might be a good thing to reconsider.

Apart from that, improving the quality of this board would be very easy if moderators would more frequently ban users that obviously engage in account farming or who only post unreadable garbage.

But I would not ban signature campaigns. I think if abuse is controlled, these are a good way to distribute small amounts of BTC to the crowd and thereby stimulate economic activity.

351  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [SELLING] Great World Coins from Own Collection for Sale on: February 02, 2017, 02:52:01 PM
Still available.

Compared to what people pay here for Bitcoin tokens this offer is a steal - starting from just 0.00075 per coin!

That's debatable. There's a guaranteed market for Casascius coins in this forum, among this crowd.

You're not guaranteeing anything of value. You guarantee a quantity of coins from different countries - neither of those factors indicate there is numismatic value to be gained. What's the guaranteed face value of these batches of coins? Give us that, at least.

About what kind of guarantee are you talking here? It's basically collectors being interested in buying Casascius tokens. Nobody can guarantee that the high amount of interest in physical Bitcoins will be equally present in the future. Especially considering the vast number of new Bitcoin tokens issued by non-official "mints". If you ask me - with few exceptions - the prices paid for these tokens are way over the top and will see a correction in future, because these are only produced to be sold to collectors and see no real world use which is a significant factor for lasting value (i.e. the smaller the number of people that encounter a specific item in real world the more likely an associated collecting trend will slow down, because no new demand is generated - it just depends on the interest of very few people).

So physical Bitcoin tokens in no way offer any better guarantee for lasting collector's value than the coins I'm offering here. In fact - outside of this forum - the community with an interest in real coins is much larger.

For collecting coins, the face value is basically meaningless. In fact the most valuable coins are quite old and their face value can no longer be redeemed. Would you say that a Casascius token is sold just for the loaded Bitcoin value? No! There are even empty coins that are sold for significant amounts and there are other DIY Bitcoin tokens which are sold without any Bitcoin loaded.
This alone already shows that collecting is not done with the motive of a value gain. It is done for enjoyment and has an aesthetical and social dimension.

For the price you're paying here you get more than 10 times the number of real collector's coins than you would pay for a typical Bitcoin token. I'm selling here for much less than I could, because the sheer number of coins would require too much work to put in each coin separately.

A perfect reason to walk over to the machine and buy Bitcoin  Grin

Just a question: Are you from Switzerland? As far as i know you need a Swiss mobile number for buying BTC. Or is there any way around this (idiotic rule)?

356  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [SELLING] Soviet Union Ruble Coins - Really Cool Collectible on: January 29, 2017, 02:16:36 PM
The coins look to be in great condition for their age, are they still valid currency?

After a little bit of research, it seems that after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1993 the coins were taken out of circulation and were no longer accepted as currency within Russia. If they are as rare as the seller suggests, then the face value of the coin is irrelevant as you'd never trade it in on that basis anyway.

Exactly. The Soviet Union no longer exists - would be fun in today's world if it would... Cheesy The modern Russian ruble is a different coin, featuring the modern state emblem of Russia (the double headed eagle) and it is smaller (because of inflation).

The coins offered here are collectible items.

I will say that the sellers price is very fair and appropriately graded. He did not say they were rare, only that they are a great set of coins to have in a collection in that condition, which I agree. A rare verity would be a 1967 with 1966 edge or 1976 with 1975 edge.

The two years/variants you're mentioning are ultra rare and therefore extremely expensive. But the year 1978 is still more rare than other years. In general, you will not often find the coin in a comparably excellent condition as offered here.

I think the coins are a great memorial set of an important and fascinating part of history.
357  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [SELLING] Soviet Union Ruble Coins - Really Cool Collectible on: January 28, 2017, 08:37:08 PM

358  Economy / Collectibles / Set of Soviet Union Ruble Coins - PRICE DROP - SOLD! on: January 28, 2017, 06:40:53 PM
Now you can grab a true piece of history:

Complete Set of Ruble Coins of the Soviet Union - a total of 6 4 3 2 identical sets are available one set remaining

This amazing set features a total of nine coins with the denominations 1 Ruble, and 50, 20, 15, 10, 5, 3, 2, 1 Kopeks from the time of the Cold War. The coins depict the infamous state emblem of the Soviet Union with hammer and sickle. Together with the cyrillic "CCCP" acronym ("Союз Советских Социалистических Республик", the latin equivalent is "SSSR" = "Soyuz Sovetskikh Sotsialisticheskikh Respublik") it's an iconic part of modern history that should not be missing in any collection.

All coins offered here are in supreme condition, with grades of XF+ to UNC or even better (it was very difficult to make pictures due to the high reflection of the coins). Coins may have minimal superficial stain (I always leave the decision of cleaning to the specific collector, because it's a controversial topic).

With the exception of the 3 and 1 Kopeks coins all coins are from the year 1978.

The collector's value of this set is very significant. The most valuable coin is the 1 Ruble which is even valuable in VF condition. In UNC or better condition as it's the case here, it is very rarely offered at all. I was very lucky to acquire a set of these coins from an Eastern European collector a few years back.

359  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin operated arcade machines on: January 27, 2017, 03:41:12 PM
I really like the fact that Bitcoin is also taking over this kind of retro-style industry. I still remember the "good old days" of arcade gaming in the 90s.

From the perspective of the operator of entertainment/vending machines of all kinds it makes a lot of sense to accept Bitcoin: It reduces the risk of theft and vandalism and the necessity to collect coins.
360  Local / Marketplace (India) / [WTS] Packs of World Coins from Own Collection - NOW MASSIVE 75% DISCOUNT! on: January 27, 2017, 03:31:53 PM

Step into the world of real coin collection with this unique opportunity!

After years of engaging in my passion for numismatics, I've amassed a very significant (uncounted) number of coins from all over the world. These coins are from buying collections and swapping with other collectors. Due to personal time constraints I've decided to refocus and constrain my collecting efforts to a few countries / eras only. That's why I'm willing to sell a significant part of my collection here.

Type of sale.

Because there are so many coins to sell, it is too much work to generate a list of all coins for sale. Instead I will sell them in bundles, randomly sampled according to certain quality criteria. The pricing is adjusted downward because of this reason. Compared to the Bitcoin tokens for sale in this forum the prices are amazingly low.

General terms for payment and shipping.

Offers include free international shipping. For Hero members and above with credible positive trust and no red flags I will usually ship first. For all other cases, escrow is accepted (buyer organizes trustworthy escrow and pays possible fees). Shipment via international priority letter.

Coins available in various lots:
