Use the latest RC but delete your Armory/databases folder before starting it.

I sync a node to convert to BTC during BCH peaks

Did you keep your BCH, Holliday?
43  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Bitcoin core Synced, Armory stuck At 476297 on: January 12, 2018, 07:19:36 AM
Use the latest RC but try deleting your Armory/databases folder before starting it.

If that doesn't work post your Armory logs on pastebin and post the links here and someone more knowledgeable than myself will probably help you.
44  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 12, 2018, 05:51:05 AM
Why is the price going down?  Cry

Doesn't the entire world want BTC, the money of the future?

Money that you cannot spend, or transfer to a friend, or experiment with, or really do anything with except HODL and make memes about future lambos.

Lightning Network is coming any day now and then fees will be low and merchant adoption will sky rocket!

Except that LN doesn't even work in theory and even ignoring that it would still takes years to bootstrap an entirely new network because that's what LN is -- an independent network to bitcoin.

I've had no issues what-so-ever spending Bitcoin in the past several months. Granted, I'm not trying to buy single glasses of wine with block chain transactions either... because I'm not an idiot. I do buy coffee though! Let me explain the process, it's simple. Buy one Amazon gift card for $2000 and then buy enough coffee to last me five years (I don't actually buy it all at once, I like fresh coffee). Transaction fees for five year's worth of coffee... a few bucks. Wow, layers already exist which make spending Bitcoins as easy as spending fiat. Imagine that, I don't need censorship-proof transactions every time I buy coffee... What a revelation! (Also, you can use the gift card for stuff other than coffee and there are lots of other vendors for which you can buy gift cards in case coffee isn't your thing.)

It's a damn shame that you can't intentionally refuse to see that putting every transaction under the sun on a ledger that all full verifying nodes (those that do not want to trust another party) must obtain and keep forever is a terrible, horrible idea. Have you ever tried to run any software which uses a database interacting with the Bitcoin block chain? Probably not, since we only need like what... 3 full nodes worldwide?

Acting like the recent decrease in Bitcoin's price has anything to do with scaling is disingenuous at best. Why is BCH worth less? Why isn't anyone using BCH (I sync a node to convert to BTC during BCH peaks, I see the amount of transactions, it's laughable)? Could someone at least run a bot to make it look like it's being used!  Finally... for the love of all things holy, BCH is supposed to go UP when Bitcoin goes down, not drop even faster... How will I ever convert the rest of this stuff if moves like every other garbage altcoin under the sun?

I'm probably wasting my time here... LN looks amazing, I don't know which articles you've been reading...
45  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: BitPay no longer compatible with Armory on: January 12, 2018, 05:08:25 AM
Do I need to be a tails user for with url method?

No.

Which of the methods will work with armory on windows 10?

Entering the invoice ID number into the "noscript" URL will provide you with an address and amount.

While I have tried this with a few invoices, I haven't actually paid one yet only using the provided address and amount (I used a BIP70 wallet instead). However, it seems like it will work. Perhaps you can report back here if you have success?

Some more information for those interested.

---

User achow101 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=290195) has created a small program for interacting with the payment protocol and providing the user with the information required to do a typical Bitcoin transaction.

Here is the reddit thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/7n6oaa/annoyed_by_bitpays_exclusive_use_of_the_payment/

---

Also, please read this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/7ntfv6/psa_how_to_get_address_from_bitpay_uri_now/

I have used this method to obtain an address and amount from BitPay, but I did not use it to submit a payment yet. I will probably be trying that sooner rather than later though.

---

I suggest users that purchase from vendors using BitPay contact both the vendor and BitPay with your next (and every) purchase and complain about the enforcement of the BIP 70 protocol. My laymen's opinion is that BIP 70 is garbage and introduces unecessary complication while reducing security for the savvy Bitcoin user. I hope to see more competition in Bitcoin payment processing in the future.
47  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: wanting to use segwit on: January 07, 2018, 06:55:27 AM
Will armory be usable in the future with "payment protocol"?

Goatpig doesn't seem to be keen on Armory talking to various servers (he's removed all the "phone home" code that existed in previous versions), so I would doubt this.

See: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2686994.msg27449925#msg27449925

I started looking into electrum, but noticed today the warning on the top of page to "SHUT DOWN ELECTRUM IMMEDIATELY"

Yes, there was a security issue and it was patched. I certainly don't recommend Electrum for savings, only for spending. Treat it like putting cash in your wallet when heading out to the grocery store. (Yes, this means paying an extra transaction fee for some number of future transactions. Actually, if you want to use segwit with Electrum, you will have to first fund a normal address, then use Electrum itself to transfer to its bech32 segwit addresses. If you do this intelligently, you can still save on those future segwit transactions, but it is certainly a lot of hoop jumping. I suspect Armory will eventually support bech32 and there will be one less hoop.)

User achow101 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=290195) has created a small program for interacting with the payment protocol and providing the user with the information required to do a typical Bitcoin transaction.  I have not yet used this solution myself, perhaps he will respond here (if he reads this thread) and provide further information.

48  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: problem getting armory working after it was off for a month or so on: January 06, 2018, 06:10:40 AM
I would try deleting the Armory/databases folder and restart from scratch.
49  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: I lost all my Bitcoin on: January 05, 2018, 09:15:27 PM
But I already moved the private key to Blockchain.info. But I didnt get my money because it started with a 3. Would I still be able to get it on Armory also? Even though the private key was moved to Blockchain?

You should learn how Bitcoin works before doing any of these things...

As long as you didn't transfer bitcoins via the block chain, they are still associated with the same private keys, no matter how many different wallets you import them into.
50  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: I lost all my Bitcoin on: January 05, 2018, 05:32:59 PM
Post dbLog.txt

Nvm, the dbLog looks fine. What's your issue exactly? From the looks of your screenshot, you just need to let Core fully sync first before starting Armory and you should be fine. Start Core manually, let it sync, they start Armory.

Delete this folder and start from scratch:

C:\Users\chowa\AppData\Roaming\Armory\databases

Okay, I deleted it. Now, I let Bitcoin Core sync, THEN I open Armory correct?

Yes.

Latest Armory: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2660500.0

Possible pathing issue. https://btcarmory.com/docs/pathing
52  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Need Help - Armory won't sync with Bitcoin Core - pathing? on: December 31, 2017, 05:11:01 PM
https://btcarmory.com/docs/pathing

If that isn't plain enough English for you, try the following.

1. Right click the Armory shortcut.
2. Choose properties.
3. Click your cursor in the "target" field after Armory.
4. With a space after ArmoryQT.exe, enter the following:

Code:
--satoshi-datadir=D:/Bitcoin

"D:/Bitcoin" in the above is just my example, please enter the actual path to Core's folder on your external SSD.

Also, I would update to the latest release candidate stickied in this sub-forum as it contains many fixes. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2660500.0

Goatpig has stated that he plans to add a BTG signer.

55  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Using Armory on the BCH chain on: December 30, 2017, 03:02:18 AM
I am having difficulty running Armory against the BCH node.  I think the node stopped syncing from the fork date.  Armory says it is connected but it does not show a BCH balance.

Would it perhaps be easier for me to attempt to export my private keys to a different wallet that has built in support for BCH?

Armory works just fine with a BCH node. Are you saying your BCH node has stopped syncing? If so, you need to get that working before worrying about Armory.
56  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Confused by "Sweep" on: December 30, 2017, 02:59:48 AM
Why don't you just send the funds from the old wallet to the new wallet like you would send a normal transaction?
57  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: 0.96.4 RC1 on: December 28, 2017, 04:43:26 PM
Send the Bcash coins first. Cheaper fees, and they're the ones you want to move anyway.

I strongly disagree. Get the bitcoins disassociated and secure before messing around with the bcash (or any other altjunkairdropcoins).
58  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: I lost all my Bitcoin on: December 25, 2017, 05:14:24 AM
Have you checked the address on a block explorer website to verify that the coins have been sent?

If you need quick access, you can always start Armory in offline mode and extract the private key of the address you send the bitcoins to, then import it into another wallet.
59  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: wanting to use segwit on: December 25, 2017, 12:23:52 AM
Doesn't make alot of sense to use the "protocol" at this point to ease pressure on the network, I see it as only adding to the congestion if you have to move funds before being able to spend.  To me that is double downing on the backlog unless they are hoping peoples will export wallets.  I did go ahead and and generate a couple addresses in core, but notice there is no option, that i can see to create segwit?  Kind of self defeating when I was wanting to start using segwit, and wasn't that the point of the hardfork that spawned bch?

If you want to use a wallet that is compatible with both the payment protocol and segwit, electrum is your best option.
60  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: ELI5, how do I claim my BCH if I had BTC during the hard fork? on: December 24, 2017, 05:33:57 PM
There is a sticky in this sub-forum regarding splitting your BCH.

Armory does not yet support signing for BTG, but apparently it is on goatpig's agenda.
