Sorry boss. Lost in translation.

IDK, i think most poeple believe HF are evil and that other devs are amateurs.
things like classic being declared an altcoin and an attempt at a "hostile take over", and poeple like Trace Mayer saying other devs are amateurs, lead me to this conclusion.

BU might be less taxing on your bandwidth, maybe you made the wrong choice?

When I want advice about code, I would probably turn towards people who actually write code?

So you are telling me the client that allows blocks of any size will use less bandwidth than one that caps them at 1 MB. OK... I'm not sure if you've really thought this through.
723  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 29, 2016, 05:42:58 PM
" HF are not to be feared, other dev's opinion like the BU devs should also be considered "

is more reasonable, agreed?

It's more reasonable, and it's also reality. Do you assume Bitcoiners are stupid? Don't you think we've all thought long and hard about how we'd like to see Bitcoin scale? Don't you think we run the implementation that reflects our opinion?

I see a lot of posters acting like Core is our only option, but we all know that hasn't been the case for quite some time now. I run Core for a reason. I choose it for a reason. I choose NOT to run other implementations for a reason. I choose!
724  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 29, 2016, 05:25:07 PM
i think the goal is and always will be to get bitcoin to be able to process all of the worlds TX.

LOL. Achieving censorship resistance requires additional resources. It's ridiculous to burden the entire economy with that when every transaction does not require it. It just needs to remain a viable option.

It's also ridiculous to try and burden a system, where full nodes must keep a copy of every transaction in existence, with every transaction under the sun.

Besides, I'd prefer a multitude of robust systems over everyone in the world putting all their eggs in one basket. You are complaining about the power of the core devs today, well imagine their power when the entire world is using Bitcoin for everything.

right now poeple have gotten use to the idea that bitcoin will never be able to do that.
when LN comes and changes the game, we will be able to say that "yes bitcoin CAN potentially take over the world."

i agree only LN can achieve this, but i disagree that blocksize can stay at 1MB or that 2MB would have any meaningful centralizing effect. it should have been bumped up already and its sad you small blockers cant see that.

For the love of bitcoin, and all it stands for, we MUST ALL AGREE the fallowing statement is completely INSANE

How's running that full node going? I had to restart mine three days ago and I've already transferred 80 GB worth of data.

" Hard forks are evil, and only core dev knows what best for bitcoin. "

Things that no Bitcoiner said, ever. Only trolls pretending to be Bitcoiners say such things.
725  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Do you think its the end of Capitalism? on: July 25, 2016, 09:06:41 PM
things like Bitcoin might make capitalism obsolete.

Bitcoin is about as capitalist as it gets.

Reading through your replies on this thread, I'm fairly certain you haven't the slightest idea what capitalism actually means. Your posts would all be far more accurate if you replaced each instance of capitalism with corporatism.

The company is insolvent. It is operating in a state of insolvency.
727  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory 0.93.3 dowloading Blockchain since days! on: July 23, 2016, 05:27:26 PM
Thanks Holliday!

I downloaded and ran the Intel Burn Test today.
Only for 2 hours in standard mode.
No promlems there.

Cool, sounds good!

I'm just curious why Bitcoin Core crashed while trying to sync the chain. I guess it will remain a mystery for now!
728  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory 0.93.3 dowloading Blockchain since days! on: July 22, 2016, 04:48:31 PM
You used the wrong test to stress the CPU. I suggested Intel Burn Test, not Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool.

http://files.extremeoverclocking.com/file.php?f=213

But, since everything is working, if it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Glad you were able to get your block chain synced up on your laptop.
729  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: DoS Attack on the Network in Progress on: July 21, 2016, 06:03:42 PM
Guess whos back?

Should not have turned the script off, will check in for details later or tomorrow.

I banned about 20 nodes today as well.

OP, you sound like the perfect candidate to join a "Resource Based Economy" movement such as "The Venus Project". Here you go: https://www.thevenusproject.com/resource-based-economy/

That said, I'll now share my opinions.

RBE people are either nuts or ignorant. Humans don't have a hivemind. Until we do, things like "The Venus Project" will never work.

Money-is-the-root-of-all-evil people are also either nuts or ignorant. Money simply facilitates trade. Although, fiat money, which is controlled by a select few to enrich themselves at the expense of the many, is shit. Real money (like Bitcoin) is lubrication for production and drastically increases the amount of decent things humanity can accomplish.

The reason the world sucks is a massive group of willfully stupid people are completely content to be fooled by a much smaller group of people who are looking to exploit them. If you opt yourself out of that system, and manage to avoid it to the best of your ability (completely avoiding it is impossible), life can be pretty satisfying. Bad shit will still happen, how you deal with it is the important part.

Education is the most important thing in this life. Learn as much as you can from every opportunity. We humans tend to learn by sticking our hand in the fire though, so be careful.

Good luck.
731  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory 0.93.3 dowloading Blockchain since days! on: July 21, 2016, 05:16:06 AM
This morning an innocent login screen greetet me - the system had restarted without my conscent!

Well, after I started the BC software again, of course it said that the Blockchain is corrupted and if I would like to rescan.

It sounds to me like Core crashed your system. Bitcoin Core is a fairly decent "stress test" for hardware and it looks like it found something on your laptop that isn't quite stable.

Since it's taking you so long to sync the block chain, I would also guess that your laptop is fairly weak as far as hardware goes. Most of my PCs will sync the chain in around 24 hours (last I checked).

If I were you, I would run Memtest for at least 12 hours, then run something like Intel Burn Test and see if your laptop is error free / doesn't crash with either of those programs. After you've verified that your system is stable, I would copy the Core block data over from a more capable PC and install the latest version of Armory. You'll want to keep the chain updated on a regular basis (daily) so that you don't fall so far behind that your laptop is struggling to catch up.

As a community service, I let the problem go on and start a new thread in a more appropriate section of this board, because the problem seems to be with Bitcoin Core and not with Armory.

I'd bet money (if I were a gambler) that the issue is unstable hardware on the laptop.

I simply copy the Blockchain from my stationary system to my laptop and see if that works.

Definitely. I would take the steps I suggested above first.

I use an entirely different wallet software on my laptop. Condition should be that all elements of a full node should be included. As far as me NOOB is concerned that is the blockchain and the wallet. OS: Windows 10 - Suggestions?

Windows 10 works well for all my block chain needs. Flawlessly basically.

I also use Ubuntu, although I always seem to have far more issues with that setup.

I go for an OS independent hardware solution like the Ledger Wallet for my mobile life.

If I am interpreting "mobile life" correctly (I'm thinking daily spending here), I would simply use an android client (I've had luck with Mycelium in the past). Only put enough on that device which you are OK with losing. Top it off from your "savings wallet" Armory install at home when needed.
732  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory 0.93.3 dowloading Blockchain since days! on: July 20, 2016, 05:13:47 PM
@Holliday: I assume it is enough to copy the %appdata%/bitcoin directory?

That should work. Shut down the Core client before copying the folder. It's been a while since I moved a block chain so I'm rusty on the procedure I typically use.

If you have any bitcoins on the Core client (which you wouldn't if you only used Armory as a wallet) make sure you back up any wallet.dat files before deleting/overwriting them.
733  Other / Meta / Re: Have you ever clicked on a link in someone's signature? on: July 20, 2016, 04:07:10 AM
Have you ever clicked on someone's signature advertisement on here?

No. Fuck no!

In fact, I auto-ignore anyone with sig spam (except for a select few). It does wonders for the signal to noise ratio.

But it's easier to just go to reddit.

Ugh, I'd rather read sig spam. LMAO.
734  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory 0.93.3 dowloading Blockchain since days! on: July 19, 2016, 04:48:42 PM
Can I maybe copy the blockchain from my stationary system?

Yes.
735  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Prisoners’ dilemma facing anti-government persons in bitcoin on: July 19, 2016, 05:55:30 AM
Bitcoin provides monetary freedom to the individual unlike every other asset on the planet. There are plenty of other mainstream (government approved) value transfer mechanisms available which do not provide the individual freedoms which can be obtained with Bitcoin. Let the mainstream, which has proven to care little for individual freedom, use those other methods. Any discussion about the proposed future of Bitcoin would be wise to heavily favor (at the very least) retaining or (even better) improving the power which an individual has over this asset (control of his private keys along with the ability to transfer that control without third party interference).

History has shown us time and time again that people are often all too willing to give up their individual power to the state/church/group for promises of security/protection/prosperity/et cetera. Time and time again this power falls into the hands of those corrupt ones who are eager to obtain it and use it for their own selfish ends. Once they obtain that power, they will never give it up willingly. To keep a long story short, eventually bad shit happens to those people who naively exchange freedom for promised safety (which also leads to bad shit happening to the corrupt ones as well).

The optimal survival environment for Bitcoin is to continue to empower individuals above all else. Empowered individuals will form powerful protection for Bitcoin because once they've tasted freedom, they will fight to keep it. Anything that improves user experience or widens the user base without harming individual monetary freedom is just gravy.

If Bitcoin "survives" in some form which no longer allows for censorship-proof value transfer (chapter 4, scenario 3), it's just another tool to control the masses (empower the few at the expense of the many).

We empowered individuals will not accept a scenario 3. Satoshi opened Pandora's Box and, should the need arise, we will fork as many times as required to retain our new found monetary freedom.
736  Other / Politics & Society / Re: I need a successful America, how to get there and restore the Republic? on: July 11, 2016, 06:08:25 AM
I was writing out a long and specific post about what needs to be dismantled in order to restore the ideals of the founding fathers to the USA, but I realized one simple step would fix everything in due time.

Convince everyone to stop paying any form of tax from this day forward. (This must include the hidden tax known as inflation, or it's pointless. This, of course, means no more fiat money either.)

If you manage that, everything would fix itself in a decade or so.
737  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 09, 2016, 06:49:43 PM
So... now that the halving has occurred, and the market starts to experience the effects of fewer newly minted coins, we can begin the process of price discovery.

Did you really think people (the market) were smart enough to price it in before the effects were actually felt? Ha. Any attempts up to this point were like playing "pin the tail on the donkey". Most people need to actually stick their hand in the frying pan to learn that it will burn them. That's just how it works.
738  Economy / Speculation / Re: Market fucks the majority on: July 08, 2016, 06:30:49 AM
A huge majority of the world's population doesn't have a single satoshi. Wink
739  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Incentivizing Bitcoin Nodes on: July 08, 2016, 06:27:51 AM
Just figure out a way to require those providing hashing power for the network to run a full node (in other words convince people to be actual Bitcoin miners instead of hash rate providers).

Sure, mining might tend to centralize, but it would be far less centralized if there were no mining pools. So, instead of incentivizing full nodes, disincentivize mining pools.

How one accomplishes that, I have no idea, but I strongly believe that this single step would lead to huge improvements to the health of the Bitcoin network. As a side effect, you would have a larger group of people who are "experts" at running a full node (which would help when it comes to making important decisions about the network in general).
740  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: To prevent the Bitcoin to OnChain Scaling just because you failure to realize it on: July 05, 2016, 08:39:56 PM
So those who oppose increasing the block size are a motley crew of unthinking, poor, weak cowards?

Also, I love how anyone who opposes government intervention is clearly a hacking, drug trafficing, money launderer. You forgot pedophile and terrorist.

What a waste of time.
