1  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Low difficulty and no shares being accepted - any solutions? on: September 27, 2015, 04:18:11 AM
Although I cannot answer your question specifically, please understand that your task is completely academic.. meaning that you task will teach you, and help learn/understand the process, but not benefit you financially in any way.

Please don't take this the wrong way..    I was GPU mining back when difficulty was 12 Million, and 10 GPUs would net about 1 bitcoin every two weeks... plus or minus as machines kept dying in the summer heat..      Difficulty is currently  59 Billion, 335 Million, 351 thousand, and change.., or significantly higher than my example...  Today, those 10 GPUs would only net me pennies, per month..  The only benefit would be to offset the heat cost in the house, or educational.

If your goal is educational, I'm sure several people on the forum would gladly donate old mining gear to you for the cost of shipping --  and you would burn far less electricity than a GPU, and be able to dive right in to Asic history.

If your goal is to obtain bitcoin, it's best just to buy it.

I also cant believe how fast those shares disappeared. I really have to wonder who the hell is buying this garbage... or if they know something...?

double FML

I've been following patterns for a while..   It looked like there was a person or two that was trying to keep the 'average' price high, buying a few at the end of each cycle, regardless of the actual dumps..      The thought being that any kind of 'buy back' or 'payout' would be at an 'average' as opposed to 'last bid/ask'...

However, as the shows almost over.. I think anyone is hesitant to dump any money into a risk... better to get your 1/2 btc back out than throw it away..

There's still a few playing the AM100 side...  only old-timers remember that AM100 are just representative shares internal to Havelock... backed up only by the good will of havelock... As are any AM1 shares..

When havelock delists AM, they also essentially make their own shares (35,000+) valueless...    This is the main reason they are still around.

In the meantime, manipulators will do what they do.

The only thing you did wrong was holding on... don't feel bad, in a few more BTC could buy them back for pennies and still have some BTC left.

I am a life long supporter of The Toronto Maple Leafs, and I feel that AM is a little bit the same as my beloved Leafs.
I think they still have a chance.

Well...  as analogy's go...  I'm a lifetime Vancouver Canucks fan...    Even though they shit the bed in game 7, i'll still buy my season tickets too...

After sinking over 100 coins into AM, at least I still have my Block Eruptors... one in each color..   Wouldn't mind adding a CUBE and Prisma to the collection so I can at least look back in 10 years and say "I was there when it began..."

Perhaps even a FRIEDCAT FOR PRESIDENT! shirt Smiley

.. but as a future company?   Even if they come back it'll never be the same..   This was the golden age.

4  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: July 08, 2015, 07:25:38 PM
Indeed. Still baffled by the behavior of the board members.

I think they are all pretty apathetic about the entire thing.

There's almost 33,500 share of AM1 on Havelock, and only 1750 or so even on the Sell side..
In fact, there's really only about 4 BTC of support left before this whole thing is over.

Anyone who had direct shares with AM currently have shares worth $0 and no way to even get them to havelock, god forbid there was any support.

The corporation itself has already filed to be closed, as posted earlier..   So they're not 'working in secret' or anything close to that idea... They dissolved and walked away.

More to the point, what do you expect them to do?

So yeah..    This kinda sums it up.

Everything has been loud speculation up until now...  We never had a death certificate..

Roadstress was kind enough to provide one.     (Note how all the other reports were english, and this one is chinese?)

6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Have to pay crypto ransome - Need to expedite block synchronization - HELP! on: June 03, 2015, 03:10:21 AM
Hi all.  I am new to this environment and am in desperate need of some help.  My business has been infected with a crypto virus and we are going to have to pay the ransome.  I have setup a wallet in the Bit Core ap and have transferred coins to it but it appears that there is a synchronization process that is taking forever to complete.  Is there a direct download of this data that would allow me to expedite?

Looking for any assistance you can offer.

Hi

Sorry for your loss of files..    and at the expense of losing coins as well,  I just wanted to have you verify something.

Is it possible that Cryptolocker is the name of the ransomeware that you were infected with?  I wanted to have you double-check to ensure it wasn't TorrentLocker instead.

The Original Cryptolocker was taken down by the FBI  (Control of the entire botnet) , and a service was setup to help recover files.

You can find out more about it at http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/506924/cryptolocker-hijack-program/page-223

If you indeed have Cryptolocker, then email a sample file to be scanned and decrypted, and you might just be in luck.

If you have TorrentLocker, which is a copy-cat service, then unfortunately, you may end up paying coins, with no guarantee of results.

(The original cryptolocker DID unlock when payment was made, although I advise against it simply because you don't know who/what you are funding when you do.)

Good Luck, and let us know how you make out.

8  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] 10 ASICMiner Tube 800 GH miners - 1 free controller for every 2 tubes on: May 07, 2015, 11:43:35 PM
Heh...  Feel like taking some AsicMiner shares in trade? Smiley
9  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: May 02, 2015, 03:57:54 AM
So nobody produces and ships anything or what? Smiley Maybe they are very busy with next gen.
The original poster had a specific set of limitations:
- .28J/Gh chip
- .28J/Gh miner
That eliminates most of them to begin with - if not on the first one (though honestly most developers have only recently been posting fudged numbers on efficiency) then almost certainly on the second one.

But yes, Spondoolies-Tech is out of stock and seems to be in the process of changing their business model - see also the bitcoin shop 'letter of intent' to merge with them.

On the up side, there's other companies trying to fill the void - SFARDS has a new chip coming out, LK Group is planning one, Lightning ASIC may or may not be planning one, 21 Inc may be announcing things, etc.  Unfortunately though, the climate is very much heading towards further consolidation (seem my ranty rant post on that subject), and except for SFARDS none of them have made any positive statements with regard to small scale mining.

I was thinking about how the market has condensed..

Essentially if I am correct, within six months the amount of vendors offering ASICs for retail mining sales (consumer availability) will be zero, and power-efficient mining (chips of .28nm or smaller) will be solely in the hands of large centralized parties...

Hash rate will stagnate and rhe major entities will hold status quo until the next halving... Then without major asic breakthroughs in efficiency we will probably see some major players drop out or unplug.

Power draws don't drop exponentially, but costs of smaller and smaller masks/designs do escalate.. and the halving will alter running costs dramatically.

I envision 2016-17 as a battleground where the 'Bitcoin Network' essentially is owned by 5-6 Large entities who control the majority of the hash rate...and therefore collect most of the mining fees... The new world conglomerates if you will.

Any new entrants who even try to compete will need a competing design and +$10-20Million just to start playing the Asic game...and a lot of coins to capture at 12/block just to break even.

End Game.

This is why I supported AsicMiner....as Friedcat vision was to keep it decentralized... Now that he's gone, and private people can't own a share in a future mining conglomerate, all we can hope for is to buy/hold/use bitcoin itself.

As an aside to the general gloomy topics here, I was considering how the mining/manufacturing  climate has changed changed in the past year..

Can anyone help me building a list of the Current 2015 marketplace for private/public asic availability in the .28 or better realm??

For example:

Companies that have access to a proven functional .28 or better CHIP for Private Use:
Spondoolies, Bitmain, Bitfury, KNC, BFL

Companies that still produce publicly accessible (and shipping) ASIC miners of .28 or better.
Spondoolies; Bitmain.

Any others come quickly to mind?

I'm just surprised all the AM1 bag holders are so silent. AM hash is a big fail, but AM1s mess is the whole reason behind it. Have the bagholders all simply rolled over and accepted defeat? As far as I can tell FC owes AM1 bagholders everything in his wallet. Or does everyone think they can climb out of their hole? (They can't)

What is there to be said?  Choosing to not publicly lament over that which we cannot change does not seem like a character flaw to me.

There really isn't anything more to say.  FC is gone.  The BE300 chip isn't going to be made.  AM has stopped replying to emails.  AMHash1 is gone.  The prisma refunds are non-existent.

AM is done.

Yep.  Perhaps a mod can close out this thread and lock it.

I vote to leave it open -- Havelock will need someplace to  announce it's de-listing, and this will keep all the crying in one clean place.... At minmum it will keep Airwolf from a reason to open a dozen new threads Smiley
12  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: April 18, 2015, 03:07:22 AM
What assets do you see supporting that valuation? And how valuable could the IP be for the design of a relatively simple chip whose equivalent is mass produced by many manufacturers?

Honestly I am pulling it out of my ass.. If they can contribute  the bulk of the AMHash buyout wallet, almost $300,000, My spidey senses say that existing masks plus a very efficient design  must be worth about $400,000...or about $1/share..   Even the market on Havelock still values this train wreck at $1.97, so I don't think $1/share is unreasonable...  Note that I didnt say we'd ever see it.
13  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: April 18, 2015, 12:03:39 AM
Well we are now just waiting to see if AMHash (or AM if you will) fulfills AMHashLC promise (still a question after all these lies) plus returns amhash.com balances that were stolen. After that we'll see what can be done further.

Well, Considering the wallet 1FU3uhBR4bKTavbeiJXdHHs13W5bRjM7DA is already funded, I'd bet that the chances are they intend to fulfill the AMHashLC promise..  It's the cheapest way for them to get absolution from a majority of the smaller hash-rate shareholders..   Larger ones are probably still to disorganized to put together a lawsuit, unless they're already in China..and even then, there is probably a maximum liability to the cost of the gear itself that they owned a portion of.

Regardless, roll your dice before April 20th, or you lose your chance to get anything back, unless you own a high-priced lawyer.

I still feel that AM itself has to be worth at least a $1/share (asset wise) ... whether anyone else ever see's that value out is a different story.

14  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: April 16, 2015, 09:14:18 PM
Well, as poor as AM seems to be, they still came up with almost $300,000 to settle the AMHash fiasco.. (3000BTC Fully funded buyback), ..

Didn't bitfountain have 3 primary investors? (Plus all of us suckers?)...   Shares are probably still worth about a $1 or so each for a future buyout when they shut the doors.    Keep your address active, you may eventually see a few dollars for those few hundred direct shares, even if they can't be transferred, you are not missing out on much.
15  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: April 10, 2015, 06:14:55 PM
...
I mean it's interesting to see what people are doing in order to get their money back.

The same thing people on Bitcointalk do each time someone runs away with their coin--post stuff on the internet.

I give Asicminer credit... When it's dead, it's really dead...   I believe the ActiveMining thread is still alive and kicking, even though it should have died a long time ago...    It's a fine example of  "The same thing people on Bitcointalk do each time someone runs away with their coin--post stuff on the internet."

16  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER Speculation Thread on: April 09, 2015, 08:33:36 PM
I haven't read enough of this drama guys so what happened to direct shares? No way to transfer them since FC is A-WALL?

Unless  David says otherwise, i assume only F.C. had a copy of the spreadsheet maintained in its most up-to-date records... so consider then either lost, or froze  in time..like BTC sent to a black hole..  (oh wait...that sums up this entire security..)
17  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: April 09, 2015, 04:14:50 AM
The only shares that have any liquidity are on Havelock

.. and to expand further, only AM1 shares... because all the AM100's are technically owned by Havelock (as AM1's) and divided up further...

If nobody can transfer anything officially to/from buyer/seller, then technically, nobody with AM100 shares owns anything but Havelock's good will.

(No offense to Havelock or any insinuations of ill intent, just expanding on an ownership issue)

18  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: April 07, 2015, 02:11:56 AM
Yup.. RIP AsicMiner...  shares are likely onky worth pennies, if anything..

... and yet all those unfilled bids.??

.. Odd.

19  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: April 02, 2015, 09:39:10 PM
There was a bit of movement at Havelock, are there any news?

Dead cat bounce?   Lol. .  Probably, but we'll have to wait a week for an official translation or something, (as usual)..
20  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: March 23, 2015, 03:50:02 AM

I fully agree that the liquidity is drying up..  but something basic is missing from this puzzle..   Unfortunately, even if AM comes back, i am sure that all shareholders of AM have lost out...

We may differ on the company's 'asset value' and what current liquidity is available...

Unfortunately true numbers won't ever be known, and if FC doesn't ever surface, then AM probably has lost a lot of resources they would otherwise have access to.

From a triage standpoint, I still think there are other options than just shutting the doors...

If you were at the helm of this ship, what do you think would be the best route today?

-side note Roadstress:   After reading too many pages of 'SCAM SCAM SCAM PONZI SCAM PONZI SCAM SCAM'  perhaps I over reacted earlier with a few comments..
