DarkSend Beta Version 3 is Live!

Last night I figured out how to make DarkSend completely anonymous. What's even better is it's simple and elegant. Before I had said I thought I could get to 95%, I think now with this model I can get to 99%+.

So what's new? Check out the V3 announcement PDF: http://www.darkcoin.io/downloads/DarkSendv3.pdf

If someone uses a different pool size, say the 1000 DRK pool for 15 DRKs, or the 100 DRK pool for 20.000 DRKs, what will happen?

The pools will be for ranges, if you want to send 0-100 you'll use the 100 pool. 100-1000 will use the 1000 pool, etc.

DarkSend V2 - New executables

- These will work for encrypted wallets now! All encrypted wallet users were getting charged fees because they were unable to sign.

I just tried to send 3 darksends.  3, 2 and 1 dark.  Nothing went out, and I was charged thought the wallet did not close:

I saw a few DarkSends time out, if you're having issues come in #darksend-test and we'll figure out what's going on. (Plus I'll refund the fees, it doesn't like what someone's client is doing)

Beta v2 -- updated instructions

I'm moving the node to 54.80.16.112 that's handling beta traffic. So anyone trying to darksend, you'll need to change your "addnode" configuration to this IP.

Also, I just uploaded a new client that is much more capable of complaining about common problems that will cause DarkSend not to work properly.

Note: If you run a pool/exchange, don't run the beta daemon. It's not required and still be updated every day.

ok, so I got it through my thick skull and into my mushy brain that I can send myself 3 darksends, I just have to do it with the first payment being the largest, second slightly smaller, and third even smaller than the second. (Gee, just like the instructions said!  Waddaya know?)  Ok, all looked well.

I had a bit o' issues with  my config files, got that right I think??  Then sent the 3 payments and finally got a txid number.  so it went through, now I'm waiting for coins to be deducted from my wallet and for coins to show up in my other wallet.  But so far, no dice.  It didn't take that long in testing so I'm confused??

Well, still no money leaving or arriving  in either wallet 20 minutes later, so I guess I'll give up for the night.  I'm tired!

Ah, try again and it should work. I'll be pushing out a client later that will be a lot more verbose when there are issues.

Can you meet me in IRC, it doesn't like what your client is doing. I'll refund you.

#darkcoin-test?

Sure

DarkSend Beta Version 2 is live!
Improvements:
  • Extensive DDOS/abuse protection
  • New testing procedures for all data going through the DarkSend Network
  • Much more friendly debug logging
  • Added "timed_out" status for getdarksendtxid (was hanging on incomplete even though DarkSend had given up)

When using DarkSend you must keep your client open, if you close it during the process the network will detect that you didn't provide needed information and charge you a fee for it. This fixes the exploit that was used against the system a couple days ago.

Also, open your darkcoin.conf, you’ll need to add the line: addnode=23.23.186.131.

If you have any issues checkout the troubleshooting section in the documentation.

If you are running the beta, add that node and keep your client open when DarkSending!

I just got charged .25 for no reason. Had my client open the whole time. Can you not use getpoolinfo after you send a DarkSend transaction? I was wanting to check the pool status.

edit: Just happened again.

I'm slowly making XvgkUjmaWpnN2uChNpsGPGmo65mVN92vxn a very rich man.

When the client doesn't send the proper data for completing the transaction, they pay .25DRK currently to the master node. All fees charged during beta will be refunded.

Did you add the node to your config?

It's taking too long to get back online...

??  What's wrong?

Some guy was spamming us with a ton of bad work.  Panicminer was the username, I deleted the account, I'm not sure if it was on purpose or not.

If I know how much each of the six wallets had that were emptied, couldn't I also link that up with the 6 different people that come in and take out their amounts(since each of the 6 people would take out an amount equal to one of the wallets that was emptied)?  Sorry, I'm really slow too!

For example, 6 people drop off their payments $123, $31.45, $1, $2, $3, $4, and six different people later collect $123, $31.45, $1, $2, $3, $4, don't I know who paid who?

Not really, you're missing the denomination part.

User A wants to pay $103
User B wants to pay $254
User C wants to pay $51
User D wants to pay $53

-- All of them deposit their bills into the bucket:
$100,$1,$1,$1 == 103
$100,$100,$50,$1,$1,$1,$1 == 254
$50,$1 == 51
$50,$1,$1,$1 == 53

---- Now, count the bills of each kind
3x $100
3x $50
11x $1

Now the people randomly come collect what they're owed.

Who paid who?

Adding Complete Anonymity to DarkSend

As most of you are aware, we're currently building the decentralized foundation that that the future DarkSend implementation will sit on. DarkSend provides some basic anonymity currently, but this implementation shown above can be very robust, providing no way to determine the source or destination of money traveling through Darkcoin.

It'll use 2 separate stages in the pooling system, one to gather enough inputs to add a level of anonymity and one to merge them back together.

Can I add this chart to wikipedia?

Sure.
