We're happy to announce development on alpha v3 has completed, we have a really improved, fully functional version of DarkSend for you all to test. The next test will be tomorrow at 9PM EST.

Just like last time, if you want to test join us in #darkcoin-test on freenode, we'll be sending money around and testing out the implementation.

Updates include:

- Transactions for 0.00 fixed
- "Not enough funds" problems fixed
- Completely 100% anonymous transactions implemented using Darksend denomination pooling
- Multiple transactions per pooling support

This version is WORLDS ahead of the last one, I can't wait to show everyone.

There has been some debate lately about the reward structure vs the early adopter advantage. To be clear, Darkcoin was pre-announced so all of the miners shared in the early mining. There were some issues with the block reward in the beginning, but it was still fair. We don’t have a huge percentage of the coins in existence like some users have purposed.  In fact, we gave away nearly 80,000 coins in the first week.

Originally we thought scarce was good, but the halving was added to the code later and was an obvious mistake, it doesn’t work well with the formulas we’re using to implement the mining reward structure.

I’ve been doing the math this morning and Darkcoin doesn’t need a halving structure at all. So I’m removing it:

https://github.com/evan82/darkcoin/commit/819ccd71cab84c3728d457b16d2679486f917394

The formula 2222222/(((Difficulty+2600)/9)^2) is actually well defined to handle lowering the reward steadily over a long period of time. It caps out about 5000 difficulty, if this isn’t high enough or slow enough we can revisit this later.

This change will put us way closer to the 84,000,000 coin maximum that we originally wanted. The maximum rewards per year will be 13,140,000 per year (25 every 2.5 minutes) and eventually only release 2,628,000 per year (5 every 2.5 minutes).

Thanks for the input and support

Good on you. I think this is a really wise decision.
However, this means a hard fork right?  From what block should we worry about updating our wallets?

It's a hard fork at block 210240. We'll release DarkSend before that happens which will also require an update to use, so no need to worry about updating just yet.

pool.darkcoin.io is scammers!!
Today I went into my account they were amazed!
No coins, no Walker, no customization payments!
Miner with the work properly and sends solutions.
Last time I got paid on February 23
3 days miners worked in vain!
Transaction history neither!
pool.darkcoin.io is scammers!!

The pool is working perfectly, I've been mining on it the last few days. I found your account and checked the log and I don't even see 1 share (invalid or not). I'm guessing you configured it wrong and just didn't check to make sure it worked?

PS, I just looked for payments and you've never been paid.

COINMINE UPDATE

The coinmine pool has
3239.49 MHASH out of total 5510 MHASH on network which is 58.79%

Here is a list of all the alternative pools, transfer your miners to any one of these , ideally spread out as much as possible.

THIS IS CRUCIAL

I just emailed this to all 3500 users of my pool, and we're already seeing the shift in hashing power:

Quote
Lately, we've been experiencing a large flow of mining power into drk.coinmine.pl and it's becoming very unhealty for Darkcoin.
We need to spread out the network hash rate among the other pools, its not good to have one pool with > 50% of the total.
Currently drk.coinmine.pl had ~80% and we need to get that down into the 20-30% range.

This is very important, if you're using coinmine please move as soon as possible!

Lot's of users are about to move so spread out your hashrate, pick a pool from below:

15 minutes ago: 3250Mh/s
10 minutes ago: 3170Mh/s
Just a minute ago: 2990Mh/s

Thankyou EVERYONE for moving and helping Darkcoin

Alright, emails are finally working on the official pool. Everyone come join and let's take the hashing power away from coinmine.

Hello I am developing a site that takes darksend payments through API. I was wondering how this process would be different then taking payments the same way with btc? Would it be different to accept DRK through darksend as far as API goes?

You would use darksend addr amount, then there will be another command to get the last darksend txid

Hey Eduffield, how is the new website coming along? (also you guys should update the exchange list on darkcoin.io, we still only have 3!)

Here's the work in progress, any ideas would be greatly appreciated: http://darkcoin.us/io/

What should be on the homepage? We have 5 slots to fill.

Anyone have good ideas for stock photos for the various pages?

Eduffield, Any chance we can get this diff/reward stuff explained?

With all the forks it is hard to tell if the halving is being used and when it begins.  Best thing to stop the potential spread of FUD is an official statement and explanation.

It's really pretty simple, we're capped at 25DRK per 2.5 minutes, that's 210240*25 per year, so broken down yearly:

Year 1: 5,256,000
Year 2: 2,628,000
Year 3: 1,314,000
etc

So in ten years we'll have maybe 10 million coins in existence. It's a very scarce resource and is designed to gain/keep it's value.

I messaged the owner of drk.coinmine.pl and asked him to disable registrations and add a banner to the pool asking users to redirect their hashing power elsewhere. Hopefully we can resolve this quickly.

another big dump just happened on poloniex

down to 0.0005 ... what .. the .. fuck

Could be thief from c-cex dumping last of of the DRK they made of with?

I thought that guy returned all of the DRK?
1233  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | Anonymous (alpha) | KGW | No Premine | ASIC Resistant on: February 25, 2014, 07:15:22 PM

Very good point.  I'm sure there was huge shift in interest in Megacoin when they first implemented it, but now that a whole range of other coins make use of the Kimoto Gravity well, Megacoin has lost its appeal, and advantage. I don't like the idea of a DarkDogeSend or similar....

A unique useful feature is what a coin needs now days to standout in the crowd of clone coins.  I don't want Darkcoin to be seen as a clone by loosing this unique selling point.
Couldn't agree more. Also perhaps it is good idea to change  the title of this thread a little, for people who are not into DRK... I will elaborate:  [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | Anonymous (alpha) | KGW | No Premine | ASIC Resistant

[ANN][DRK] DarkCoin - everything is clear , it is the name of the coin
KGW - clear, people understand what it is
No Premine - people love no premine
ASIC Resistant - great, when scrypt ASICs arrive , ASIC resistant is the way to go
Anonymous (alpha) - here we go, there can be some more explanation in a word or two more, so it catches peoples attention. Something like: "DarkSend", or "Anonymous (exciting new feature)",etc... those are just a few lame examples, but hope you got the point

I updated the title, let's try that for awhile.

Completely agree.

If all of the coins implement it, at least their source will say "DarkSend" 1 million times. That's at least better than KGW, which doesn't share the name

Yes, we know the DarkSend test is soon, but when people ask when it will be, they already know it is soon, so saying 'soon' isn't really any kind of answer! :/ Throw us a bone with numbers written on it, if you catch my drift.

 Grin

I don't have a date, but I'm guessing in 2-3 more tests I'll allow people to start using DarkSend on the mainnet using the ubuntu/windows binaries. There's really no risk to using it and it should be stable in a couple weeks.

The problem is to opensource it I need to do a fair amount of work to secure the way it works and make sure it's very robust in dealing with possible errors/issues. But I can start to work on that while you all are using it on mainnet.

Just found a new exchange, it's funny, weren't they the ones that wanted money?

https://cryptorush.in/index.php?p=trading&m=DRK&b=BTC

Indeed :-) I told you...make them beg to add us :-)

One more question. Do you have an idea when Darksend will be implemented?
I think we should not wait to long...if all is ready off course... Smiley

DarkSend is coming along great, I've fixed all of the issues that were brought up during the last test and the last couple days I wrote up the anonmizing tech that lives in DarkSend. It looks like it's working great, so I should be announcing a test date where everyone can try it out soon.

Next DarkSend test, 100% of sent transactions will be anonymous. Looking forward to showing it off!

drk.coinmine.pl has over 71% of the network hash power.

Something needs to be done about this.  This has nothing to do with greed, it is just dangerous.

Pool.darkcoin.io is working now. I've confirmed it's paying shares, making payouts, finding blocks, etc. Come on back over!

Would be nice if Mintpal would let me withdrawal my BTC I requested like 2 days ago.

And how to withdrawal from official dark-coin pool? It just says Created new manual payout request with ID #1463 and nothing happens. ..

ditto. Something wrong there. (with offical darkcoin pool withdrawals)

The cron is just not running for some reason, I'll look into it.

http://pool.darkcoin.io/, Can whomever owns this pool please unlock my account so I can start mining? It told me to check my e-mail to unlock it and never sent me anything. Thank you Cheesy

Unlocked. I'm not sure what's going on with the email. Ape is looking into it.
