Does anybody have used ethOS? Is it good ?
Yes, I do. It's good.

I can't. If I remember correctly I got rx 570 pulse. So vbios will be different. What does it mean you haven't achieved very good results. Can you see differance in power drain from the wall? No, this is the problem, I can't see difference in power drain from wall, I've done following tests on vrom: - added offset using instructions on the youtube link I've mentioned before (and trying different values: -100mv, -150mv) - tried to change values on dpm state 0 (the rest of the rom values seems references instead voltages, so I thought that changing voltage for dpm state 0 and specifying this state on SMOS oc settings it will work). I've also changed voltages on memory dpm states (same value than on gpu dpm state 0) - tried to change tdp values Usually there is no change on power drain (from wall), and when there is usually the change is worse than the original. My (bad) numbers are: - rx580 x 4 8g (2 pulse and 2 nitro se), with 3 usb risers and 1 connected directly to MB, 850W corsair PSU - mining monero 835W from wall (~3000h/s) oc values 1275/2250 dpm state 2 (which is the one I'm using right now) - mining ethereum 1120W from wall (without dag fix, with dag fix 1500W from wall) oc values 1175/2250 dpm state 2 Which oc settings are you using on SMOS? For RX580 GPU I recommend core 1150 and mem 2200 for SMOS. Powerstage will not help a lot to reduce power drawn from the wall. I was using powerstage 4 (default) but power drawn from the wall (7x RX580) was too high for me (1350W) and not acceptable. As long as no undervolting implemented in SMOS I will use ethOS (can undervolt my rig and have 950W from the wall). Hi, 950W with 7x RX580? Its perfect, I think. I have 11x RX580 Nitro+ 8gb, with ETH only mode need 1790W from wall (with modded bios, 30.9Mh/s/card). Its really high yet. What is your setup in ethOS for voltage? Thank you. Check PM. It's not ethOS thread.

with offset whole rigt with 6 gpus should do around 850-900W, but what you are saying is kinda solution as well. I know similar feature should come to SMos as well. I'm trying to avoid any BIOS modification as possible. Just replaced required straps to get 31MH/s per GPU. As soon as SMOS has undervolting implemented (like ethOS) I will back to SMOS. For now ethOS is the winner.

Could you explain a little how have you undervolted your rx580 using ethos? directly in miners using specific params? some os command? You need ethOS 1.2.5 and then edit local.conf file with specific params like globalpowertune and vlt.

How does this function work:
"-Added ability to set voltage for RX series GPUs."
I mean is this better than adding offset to vbios? Did someone checked if power consumption from the wall is lower/higher/same comparing to offset?
They have code to control the voltage regulator modules (there are several types and manufacturers) of the GPU's directly so they can set the voltage to the desired levels. This definitely does not work for Sapphire Radeon Nitro+ RX580 8GB (11265-01-20G) with Hynix mem (A1726, A1727). My power drawn from the wall didn't change after I set vlt to 850, 875, 900. No change.

H110 i B250 chipset not supported by simple.... ethos already got it..... will we see support by simple in this year ??
What you mean H110 is not supported? I have H110 and 8x RX580 for now. Rig is working with SMOS. The only issue is missing undervolting.
|
|
|
The vlt function doesn't seem to work on RX580 cards. As the power draw from the wall did not change whether I tune 1100 to 900 and even 750. It just doesn't seem to applying my values.
Yes, I can confirm the same for my RX580. Even I change vlt to 850 or 900, power drawn from the wall is the same. What is also strange for me, globalpowertune parameter seems to not work too. Even I set 5/6/7, dashboard shows ptune 4, also ethos-overclock shows 4.

|
|
oh, this new dag fix it is really works? Yes, it really works for my RX580 rig. does it have same problems with undervolting? or it is fixed here? Undervolting still does not work in SMOS but you can try ethOS 1.2.5 with RX series GPU undervolting implemented (in theory).

Most RX 470/480/570/580's should be able to run at 850 mv when mining ETH with the core clock set to 1150 mhz, hence set the config like this: cor 49709f 1150 1150 1150 1150 vlt 49709f 850 850 850 850 850 My all RX580 GPUs have Hynix mem. I have stable 30.5MH/s but with vlt 900. Since 24 hours no freeze. With vlt 850 I got one freeze per 24H.

Hi guys, can I ask you for some help? Trying to configure my ethOS for ETC mining but I have some problem. This is my first time with ethOS. I'm mining ETC with Claymore 10 on Windows with this code based on info from my ETC pool: EthDcrMiner64.exe -epool 79.98.144.27:8008 -ewal MyETCWalletAddress -eworker rig1 -epsw x -esm 0 -allcoins 1 What should be the correct setup of local.conf and claymore.stub.conf files based on above code? Is this ok? local.conf file: globalminer claymore maxgputemp 65 globalcore 1150 globalmem 1200 globalfan 60 globalpowertune 5 stratumproxy enabled proxywallet 0x84cdd5f8e81164cc0f54ed4a502476c76d1e8b proxypool1 79.98.144.27:8008 flags --cl-global-work 8192 --farm-recheck 200 claymore.stub.conf: -epool pool1 -ewal wallet -eworker rig1 -epsw x -esm 0 -allcoins 1 Many thanks for any advise. you dont need to edit claymore.stub.conf only remote or local.conf is enough globalcore and globalmem values depends which gpus you have. i think its more comfortable to write them by each rig you can use loc parameter for eworker loc (rigcode) rigname Finally got my pool working with ethOS. Seems my setup has to be like below: local.conf file: maxgputemp 70 globalminer claymore autoreboot 2
#individual GPU overclocking (RX580) cor 49709f 1150 1150 1150 1150 1150 1150 1150 mem 49709f 2200 2200 2200 2200 2200 2200 2200 fan 49709f 60 60 60 60 60 60 60 pwr 49709f 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 vlt 49709f 900 900 900 900 900 900 900
claymore.stub.conf file: -epool 79.98.144.27:8008 -ewal 0x84cdd5f8e81164cc0f54ed4a502476c76d1e8b -eworker rig1 -epsw x -esm 0 -allcoins 1 -dbg -1 With this setup ethOS is working fine. Still not sure vlt parameter is working for RX580 GPU series.

Perfect solution for SMOS would be to have additional two fields (OC page) related to mem/core voltage but as I understand it's not possible. Right?
Its a limitation of the AMD Linux drivers, nothing tytanik can do about it. Me and cryptoscum will be working with this computing kernel and driver to meaby fix this power wattage issues. I am starting to love nvidia over amd but nvidia also has some stupid limitations Hi @tytanick, any news regarding works on wattage issues? Hi @tytanick, still didn't get any info regarding my question above. Could you please share with us any progress status? Btw, tytanick's last post - Sept 11... I feel a bit ignored...

I will try again then. Globalmem & globalcore are related to my AMD RX580 GPUs. I will also try the VLT function later.

hi everyone!
Tytanik, the amd dag fix for linux is released at last.
How long will it take You to implement the fix?
Thank You!
Are you sure it's not implemented already? https://download.simplemining.net - file simpleminer-RX-v1118-17.30-dagfix.img.zip

Hi all, can anyone confirm that: ethOS 1.2.4 changelog (released September 3rd 2017)
Major Changes -Added ability to set voltage for RX series GPUs.
is realy working for RX GPUs by using vlt parameter? I see vlt parameter in http://ethosdistro.com/pool.txt. Just thinking about buying ETHOS instead of using SMOS. rx500 series included config works vlt values but my 400 series not work. also rx400 series voltages not shown on web gui. @bileq, thanks for confirmation. I have RX580 in my rig. I will buy ethos and check it soon.
