Got my 50 Uno back from Mintpal, keeping it safe in local wallet now. Not selling any soon!
That's awesome! Congrats!

I still will never understand, but with what $UNO has been through and stayed strong, why on earth would anyone EVER panic sell it?  Huh

Without the Oil industry, the american dollar would not longer be needed as the reserve currency.  True or False?
Absolutely.  It should actually be called the petro-dollar. Google Henry Kisinger and the little meeting that he had with the house of Saud after Nixon closed the gold window in 1971. Very revealing....

If one looks at the bi-lateral currency exchanges being brought into existence, Sino-Russo, Sino-Iran, Russo-Singapore, etc. the dollar's days are clearly numbered.  I would not be suprised if the Chinese come out with a gold-backed yuan at some point. They've been buying like crazy! Look out US dollar if they do!

Economists are all blowhards.  The more precise they make their answers, the more incorrect they always are. The FED has no clue what it's doing. We are in unprecedented waters. Google Jim Rickards, read some of his stuff.

If you really want to know what's going on in the world go to:

John Williams costs $200 / year, but he gives you the straight dope on the US government's "numbers." Highly recommend...

There is an investment strategist that speaks about "World Dominators"

Google it.

These are great dividend stocks. Intel, wal-mart, Exxon, Cisco, Apple, Microsoft, etc. You may love or hate them, but they are here to stay and grow their dividends. Throw $10k at each of them today. Forget that you own them and then set a reminder in your iPhone for 2045 to check your portfolio. I bet that you'll be pleased with the result.

Please understand that I have no wish to promote dissent, but I will post the following because if the position I am analysing -- selfish action in markets is absolutely the only intelligent action -- is correct, then Un-Ex and any other community undertakings are naive:

Here is The Position: " . . . because I was taught in economics class those many years ago that self interest is the only way that capital markets work."

" 'Many years ago' is the key phrase here. The evolutionary psychologists have fascinating data on how human societies work, and it always involves interplay between selfishness and altruism.

I recommend a BBC documentary titled 'The Trap.' Watch the section on IBM-Rand/Nash/game theory very carefully. You will see in play 'petitio principii' -- the guys in control wanted a certain outcome, and simply dismissed data that contra-indicated.

[For example, the theorists predicted that 'If X, then Y.' They asked the (female) secretaries in the building to play the game. The outcomes were almost entirely 'If X, then not-Y' -- but the Military Types just ignored that glitch. (What would a bunch of women know about how human society functions?) There is later in the doco a statement about who did assiduously stick to the game-theory models: psychopaths and economists.]

Here's my theoretical position on All This:

Marxists, anarchists, second-wave feminists, people with fundamental religious  beliefs, neo-liberals, fascists -- they all tend to polarise their positions. It's a sort of 'bargaining tactic': to 'negate' Marxism, you admit no common ground, you take exactly the opposite position (a radical individualist stance). And vice versa.

[Look up the linguistic principle of 'hypercorrection.']

Of course, all us non-theorists know that there usually is middle ground. You may oppose communism, but you're still not gonna try to carry a piano down a flight of stairs on your own."

Mark
+1

Although I don't know any second-wave feminists...  Wink

On the BTER dump theory, I'm fairly certain $UNO was not listed on there... Just wish whoever stole the BTC had bought $UNO with it!

In May and June of 2013 I sold bitcoin on eBay.  I stopped doing so after two charge backs.  Twice in one week, two people claimed that their credit cards had been used without their authorization.  I argued with PayPal and received the payments, but I was done with selling bitcoin on ebay after that week.

Z

Z, did PayPal ever hit you up for being a financial intermediary or money changer?  I heard they hit some people with that for seller crypto awhile back...

With Altmarket coming soon, I don't feel like Uno really needs more markets, unless they can bring something really unique and special to the communit (China would be very special).

Uno still has a lot of unrealized potential at Bleutrade, with their USD and alternate trade pairs.

Quality over quantity.

Anyone buy sell or trade $UNO on ebay or craigslist?  If so, what was the experience like?  Also, is there some sort of best practices for these kind of transactions?

I remember trying to buy bitcoin around $5 and $45 - but was befuddled by the too few avenues of getting them back then.  It's much easier today.  I want folks to be able to get $UNO for under $5 if they desire to.

Ebay is an excellent idea - just trade smaller amounts there. Perhaps with fractions since trading with paypal involves a risk to become scammed.
I remember about 9 months ago there was a Canadian chap selling $UNO on Ebay for about $100 / coin.

I don't know if there were any takers.  On Ebay, you have to have the PayPal payment sent as a gift to a friend, not money sent for goods. That way, there is no charge back.

We need to decouple from BTC.  One of the main reasons we have had this recent fluctuation is people trying to arb BTC. We need to be more fiat-purchase driven IMO. I like bleutrade and have used it, just not much action there usually.

Might have to rethink getting Uno on Bter.
I just tried to log into Bter today and was greeted with this message.
They had that big NXT hack, the BAY controversy, now this.

7170 BTC got stolen from our cold wallet in this transaction:

720 BTC bounty for chasing it back.

All wallets have been shut down and withdrawals of the unaffected coins will be arranged later.

Your TXID hit the network. Probably what happened was that your new address had not yet hit the network.  Eventually it did and 'Trex released the $UNO.

Crisis averted!  Cheesy

Welcome to the community!

Lol thanks... Hate to panic like that, but its uno!... If it was 7 doge , no problem.. Wink just notice its there as well.. Thanks again
Tru dat!

Glad to be of assistance!

Yeah, not sure what's going on, looks like you need to open a ticket at 'trex b/c that TXID is not on the network.
