Where can i find the FAQ? Have not found it in the initial post of this thread. Also did not see it on the website, too.

https://www.heliumlabs.org/v1.0/docs/frequently-asked-questions

It is helpful to check out the Heliumlabs community hub you can find under https://www.heliumlabs.org/ - the FAQ and a blog are linked there.

IMO, BTC will fall back to around $8000. Then buy back into BTC and with those, buy back ALTCOM.
When will this marvelous event happen?) Previous crash was more like a momentous panic than an actual correction.

If I had a crystal ball, my handle would be different Smiley

I would say in January, but of course with BTC you never know. My whole bet might be wrong and BTC goes to $30K and stays there for months (not very likely). In that case, I am still good because I sold ALTCOM for BTC...
144  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][PoW/PoS180%]AltCommunityCoin [YoBit][Active Development] on: December 02, 2017, 06:22:59 PM

How are u gonna get cheaper altcom if BTC rises another 2000$ and let's say AltCom price stays around 30k sat price, not caring what the dollar price is, you would not earn exra AltCom you'll just be buying back in for the same amount of satoshi's u sold them for Smiley

When BTC rises, alt coins drop (ALTCOM fell already 15% from where I sold and is no longer around 30K sat). So, move your money to BTC, wait for the rise to top out (probably around $12K or $13K) and sell those BTC for fiat. IMO, BTC will fall back to around $8000. Then buy back into BTC and with those, buy back ALTCOM.

A lot of people don't directly buy back into alts when BTC falls sharply, they get scared and usually sell for fiat or HODL. Only once BTC stays roughly around the same range, people are comfortable buying into alts. So, if I am right and BTC shoots up a bit still and then falls sharply, ALTCOM will not rise with the fall of BTC, but stay low. I expect this to go until January, so in February alts should have another chance.

I know VPS hosting is the easiest and most obvious way forward, but I'm curious and have the bandwidth to spare. If the Pi 3 is too short on memory (I suspect this is where this issue will probably lie) then what specs of VM would be required? Any thoughts?

Do you have a fixed IP at home? You will need this.
146  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][PoW/PoS180%]AltCommunityCoin [YoBit][Active Development] on: December 01, 2017, 11:14:16 PM
Just sold today. I was hoping for ALTCOM, but with the current rise of BTC, it makes more sense to sell for BTC, sell those when BTC reaches $13K and buy back the much cheaper ALTCOM.

In January or February, the price will probably rise, but like other altcoins, ALTCOM gets only cheaper.

Long story short,  our motivations for Helium are not financially driven and everything continues to move forward.  I have and continue to be involved in many crypto projects as a speculator so I can empathize your concerns and frustration. Often times a decision we make will receive an equal amount DM's expressing approval and disapproval. You cannot make everyone happy all of the time, but you sure as hell should make an effort where possible. Your patience is very much appreciated while all of the required pieces are positioned on the Helium chess board.

Thanks KarmaShark. I must confess the communication (or rarity thereof) was driving me up the wall at times.

Wishing you luck for the launch. I'll be very interested to see where HLM is headed and where it will find its place among the various cryptos. If there's anything we, the more or less passive audience can do, please tell us.

Thanks for your hard work, ideas and indeed passion! And cheers for HLM.

OP, where did you get your data for "spread" from? And what does it mean?

Dev team: will the old developer keep his stake of the IPY coins? If yes, the will be a major hurdle for getting new investors to buy in.

You'll see when the new website will be released

BTW, since you are chartered as a LTD, could you give us the relevant info, preferably in a way we can validate it - where, who, when... Maybe I am blind, but I cannot find this on your web site. I am sure it will be coming with the new site, but I'd rather know now. The gravitytech site does not feature this information either, and the lack of progress is getting a bit strange.

we had 2-3 days ago a long talk with the community, just read it at discord.

Yeah, sure. Surprising how you have been silent for weeks and when people actually leave, there's a long talk somewhere.

I'm down 35% since I bought in.
Looking forward to seeing it bounce back when the beta is released.
Just gotta HODL

And now you are down another 40% or so. It always saddens me when people cling to the "HODL" mantra no matter what. It's not wrong to exit a losing position, you can buy back later.

For some reasons, EQT is currently completely ignored by the market. It's now even lower than in May when it was introduced and before the "summer of alts". Not the best time to buy or HODL, it probably needs to go a lot lower till it finds a bottom.

Community,

Here is the regular update to give you an insight about our current process. Since there were also couple questions, regarding Tradecoin, I want to cover them with this announcement too.

We decided to release a complete new version for both, Score and Trade, which will require a Coin Swap. This is a good thing! We will ensure a 1:1 ratio so its stays that way. One, of the many reasons, we decided to take this step is the closure of Nova.
So, we are currently working on a Solution to take both coins on a new Exchange. Of course, there is also a possibility to stay and list Tradecoin on Cryptopia.

I cannot give more details but as soon as we are done dealing with this, we will start the release as well as the swap. Both new Versions, including Masternodes, have been already tested successfully.

Anyone else find it strange that Ryan is making the same capitalization errors that marksteven - who is German, so no wonder - makes?

And now a coin swap - another classic for stalled coins. Get rid of all those trusting holders who don't check in every month, thereby reducing supply and pumping price. Next thing will be HiPoS blocks with rewards of 5000% for a couple of blocks, or the move to an ERC20 token. Then another pivot of the project - DAPPs, privacy features, coin exchange on the SCORE chain, something like that.

For simply moving to a new code-base, you don't need a coin swap. You are being taken for a ride, your investment is gone.

checked the wp, promising

Which part is promising and why? All I can see is long overdue promises without anything actual being delivered. Am I missing something?

156  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HLM] HELIUM - PRE NOTICE on: November 14, 2017, 03:04:32 PM
There are quite a few big DASH investors watching HLM with high interest. One of the reason why HLM is a fork of DASH.  Don't talk about immediate after start trading as weak hands are going to sell. But within a month or two, buying up to 0.01btc is easy. DASH for consumers, HLM for Corporate Services.

No doubt, I was just trying to manage expectations so people don't start buying at 40K sat only to see it dip a lot. That breeds disappointment and in the end, resentment.

I would not be surprised to see it drop to around 15K sat and stay in the doldrums for a couple of weeks. I might set a buy around 10K sat if I can flip my HLM for a good price, just in case. If you want to get out, better either sell in the first minutes (watch the price, and if it starts tanking, sell) or only sell if it reaches a certain price level again. Nothing wrong with wanting to get out at a loss if you have lost confidence, but don't sell the very bottom.

I don't want to be the party pooper, but does the team have some creds in developing a coin and doing the PR work for months and eventually years? And how is a 1:4 coin swap going to work with a minable coin?

Not much to lose at this point, but I've had enough of announcements.
158  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HLM] HELIUM - PRE NOTICE on: November 14, 2017, 11:11:31 AM

You mean .00025 to .00035 btc ....
(25-35K satoshis)  which is a reasonable estimate.
I'm gonna say 35 to 50K sat, then correcting to 100K

I believe there will be a sharp dump shortly after it gets traded. Too many bag-holders who are spooked by the delays, lack of communication and small fuck-ups. Look at this thread and how slow it is - the community around HLM must be small at this time, so (likely) too little buying volume for the inevitable selling pressure of people wanting to get out to invest in other coins. I know I will have sells set up and some very low buys just in case...

I'd expect a rise to $100K only after a month has passed or so and the word makes the round. Could easily be in early 2018 what with Christmas upcoming.

Sorry to be the party pooper Wink

Devs: with only 64 validator nodes, would an attack by first spamming the network with tx's and then dDOSing a handful of validators not lead to the remaining validators getting overwhelmed and crash? It seems a rather vulnerable setup, esp considering a validator node needs 8GB RAM to handle 5K tx. Even on an expensive VPS, there would not be a lot of room for additional load.

Or am I wrong?

This is definitely a possibility regardless if we are using 64 or 100 validators. Validators need to have sufficient bandwidth, RAM and processing power to handle large amount of transactions and the recent and ongoing RC tests are going to expose these vulnerabilities. With these vulnerabilities exposed our Devs can work out a solution to prevent these problems from happening before we go on mainnet.

I do software, so I know how usually strangers coming in and proposing "simple solutions" is a reason to face-palm, so forgive me if I am talking nonsense...

In such a situation, I would either have a couple of "dark validator nodes" that light up once others go down (latencies and throughput should be measurable) or have a large pool of nodes and have them switch on and off in a random fashion so the mean is 64 active validators.

Both make it harder keeping a sustained dDOS going. In your current setup, I'd be afraid of knock-on effects of a percentage of the validators getting taken out.

How do extract the Private key from the windows wallet?

Come on, man, just google "extract private key from wallet". There is hundreds of step by step instructions, they are the same for most every coin.
