2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Coin and token? on: February 10, 2018, 03:10:23 PM
A token is based off of another blockchain as typically a smart contract that provides some sort of utility, so ya, technically unless it has it's own blockchain, it can't be the "next bitcoin". Tokens are simply just utilizing blockchain technology in conjunction with their "bright" idea.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Coin and token? on: February 02, 2018, 09:21:51 AM
Hi to you all,

I know this is quite a stupid question, but I've searched info everywhere and I'm always not sure about the difference... Here's my understanding:

There are lots of blockchains (code), each blockchain has its coin. The coin is the code based on the certain blockchain. Such as bitcoin, ether. The blockchain of bitcoin only can do money transactions, not smart contract. When projects need to build a contract between parties (a platform for freelancers, for example), they use the blockchain Ethereum.

Tokens, are the coins that don't have their own blockchain, they use the blockchain of others to build their program. But, my question is, in this case, why every token's dream is to be the "next bitcoin"? Since they don't have their own blockchain anyway, how could they ever be a coin?

Thank you guys in advance for helping me clear this up

A Token is typically an ERC20 based on the Ethereum blockchain which uses something called a 'smart contract' in order to provide something like a utility or dividend to it's owners. A coin is typically mineable and has it's own blockchain and it's simply used as a store of value and requires miners to operate and process transactions on it's blockchain, where as a token uses Ethereums miners to process it's transactions ans you pay a 'gas' fee per transaction to those miners.

Hope that helps clear some things up.

Anyone knows what accounts for the recent spike in the price of WAX-tokens?
Did they get added to another exchange or something?

Also, where do you think the price might be in December of 2018? Any predictions?

WAX token made it on the Palm Beach report as well as some big Youtuber did a piece on it.

Can someone tell me how it will be with WAX supply?

Now is 492,954,537 WAX in Circulating Supply, but it says that in total it will be 1,850,000,000 WAX.
When they plan to release that total supply?
Thank you in advance for explanation! Smiley

Cheers

Most WAX is locked up in contracts with the large pre-sale investors for 1 year or more. So you won't see a lot of that getting in to the trading economy for at least a year. What you see now is pretty much what's in circulation.

You can also trade on Bancor and rumors that Binance to be appearing very soon.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: We have to talk... about the WAX token sale on: January 01, 2018, 02:22:18 PM
Could have been a better execution, however most of the ICO's I've bought in to have had their issues somewhere.

I invested pretty heavily in to WAX because I'm a gamer mostly. I am very satisfied with the results so far. Pretty impressive returns and I only expect them to grow.

theres a fake pump on the exchange since no WAX deposits are allowed. once the deposit blockage gets lifted, WAX is going further down the drain where it belongs. have fun drowning. *gur gur gur gur* LOL!

the "exchange" did this on their own accord. Coins went in for like 2 days. WAX doesn't own the exchange or control it but funny how you'd like to attribute that to WAX too, just more proof you're full of shit and just a hater (likely part of one of those Russian scam ICO's, LOL!)

Please, tell me a better ICO in 2017, that is better backed, has more reputable people behind it and better financed BEFORE ICO money even comes in to play? Plz? Down the drain in your Russian scam dreams. Sorry that some of your intended victims actually got somewhere worthwhile to invest in. Less scam money for you, sucka! Smiley

lmao and there is the anti-russian propaganda from some brainwashed tard while hyping a pump and dump scamcoin that increased its total amount of tokens by 10X the same day their scamscoin started trading, pumped all the way to 0.001 to dump to 0.00003. same scammers behind scams like yank nazi paypal and money printing scam Tether, creating a billion of USDT out of thin air. Anyone with a bit of brain wasnt surprised that WAX scam went 10 fold out of nowhere just like tether. they let the ppl market buy their WAXcoins as xxx tokens of 180 mln, while they secretly increased their own holdings by 10, so in fact market buyers paid the price of 10 for every single WAXscam shitcoin.

Meanwhile hundreds of millions of 10x WAX coins are held up by WAX-Opskin-Tether triad mob while they feed buyers of pre-sale hilarious BS stories to justify the delay. theres a fake pump on the exchange since no WAX deposits are allowed. once the deposit blockage gets lifted, WAX is going further down the drain where it belongs. have fun drowning. *gur gur gur gur* LOL!

Brainwashed? Says the noobie account with 2 posts that knows jackshit. Been in this game since BTC was around a dollar. Done plenty of ICO's and I have faith in this one because of the money and team behind it.

How many Russian money grabs have their been? There's no propaganda here Ruski, just pure experience. Sorry if I offended your mother Russia and it's many scams and thefts.

So basically you're saying PayPal is a scam, Tether is a scam - I mean buddy, get yourself a bigger tinfoil hat already. You forgot EOS and a few others, some of the top marketcap listings, lol. You've already lost all credibility here.

Also, further proof you're an idiot, all tokens were increased by 10x to everyone. Not just to certain people. What difference it it make? Everyone got the same regardless. OH and: Secretly? If you call press releases and announcements across all of their social media channels before token release "secret" lol. Pure idiot.

deposits will start after 31st, asuming WAX con artists run out of excuses to further delay the distribution by hijacking holders coins they desperately try to send to exchange to sell.  FLOOD IS COMING.

You're an idiot, most people got their coins within a few days. Only a handful that have KYC issues still haven't. Deposits started a long long time ago. Flood already happened and WAX pulled through just fine. Nice try, asshole.

It was 185 million but these “genius”es decided to give everyone 10x WAX at the end of ICO, so the new supply should be 1.85 billion.

Yes, they announced they would be doing this before they did any distro, as well as why. You can read their press release here: https://medium.com/wax-io/wax-will-issue-10x-the-tokens-at-distribution-733c71fb5282

Personally I think it makes sense. Not fond of the decimal system in a micro transaction world.

made another skincoin

It would take some intelligence and due diligence to actually understand the difference.

The correct statement is "someone is actually making a real utility here with some technology behind it with an actual massive company backing it, unlike the shit coins others made / are making". If you do ICO's at all and bother to read and understand whitepapers / backers / team, you'd know the difference.

This isn't a group of Russian scammers working on 5 ICO's at the same time to grab as much money as possible, like the others which have no usage other than being a tradable coin that grabs money for their Russian empire.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] WAX - Worldwide Asset eXchange by OPSkins - Join Token Sale on November 1 on: December 24, 2017, 06:34:06 PM
Initial price was 1/300 ETH ~ 1.5$ at ICO time, later they gave everybody 10 times more, which makes initial price 0.15$. But ethereum price rise since ico moment, now it's 700$ vs 400-500$ at  ICO time. 1/3000 ETH (WAX initial price) now worth 0.23$.

Some correction on this, just to get the facts straight: Presale and initial buy in's  ETH was at around $300. Today on Huobi WAX is going for up to $1.25, currently at around $1 (it's bouncing between those two numbers a lot). Today ETH is at (at the time of this post) $606 on Poloniex. So you could have held your ETH and made 2x or bought in to this and done 7x to 20x.

How on earth could someone call this a bad investment? :/

Is that true that ICO price was 0.5$ and then everyone who joined the ICO got 10x WAX, which means the price was only 0.05$ for them.

Huobi price started at $5 almost (now at $1) and it must be on its way to 0.05$ ish? Does anyone have a link to see Opskins price per WAX?

I have no idea why people bought at 5$, maybe they wasn't informed about 10x supply rise. Huoby also posted wrong info about token supply, not accounting 10x rise.

Everyone should be doing their own due diligence. It's not difficult and they didn't' hide anything they made press releases on all this stuff. Regardless of all of that price of WAX was up to $1.22 worth in BTC today from being down to like .40 cents (even BTC at a low today, so that's a great sign this is going to do well). I'd say that's pretty damn good with all the distribution that's gone on so far. Not sure why people are saying ripoff/ scam, ect. ICO investors have made a killing and a great investment. Maybe I'm biased because I bought in to this one heavy but it's so far the best ICO I've thrown money at to date.

Just go browse the site, everything is listed in both USD and WAX so you can compare.

Yep it’s about the same price as Huobi. Anyone has an insight to my initial question?

You mean on WAX futures? If you look at their distribution address you can see that they've done a lot based on total distro so far and price seems to be doing really well. I would have expected a larger drop with all that dumping that went on. I think it's a strong token.

Just 100% FUD.
Little snow flakes
FUD from the jealous people that missed the boat

Thanks for being constructive, but i can't agree that crypto with -90% performance in 3 days(0.002ETH now, was 0.02 3 days ago) "did well". The fact that only 5% of investor's funds were distributed at the time i posted is publicly verifiable at ethreum blockchain.

I advice any investor considering buying WAX wait until distribution complete, because when most initial investors will receive their tokens, sell pressure will rise and price can drop significantly.

I don't disagree that we won't know where things settle until the final smart contracts are executed - but so far there's been a ton more distribution and it's still sitting over a dollar. So, I'm happy with that.
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] WAX - Worldwide Asset eXchange by OPSkins - Join Token Sale on November 1 on: December 22, 2017, 11:02:34 PM
Since initial investors received 3000 wax for 1 ETH invested, and WAX trading now at huobi at 0.0035 ETH(was 0.02 max), it's trading now at x10 and was at x60? Looks unrealistic. I guess that's because 95% of investors haven't received their tokens yet, and OPskins management most likely selling their own WAX at insanely hight prices.

The opening prices were crazy! It has been crashing since, it is at 0.0031ETH now. But the weird thing is Huobi does not let you withdraw WAX, so you are stuck with it there or you need to sell it to take your money out.

I would like to get some for long term but I just can't trust Huobi and so many people who invested in the ICO are complaining about WAX.

We all could find something we can complain about. I don't think I've seen any ICO that some little snow flakes were not complaining about in some way. Not sure why you think anything is 'unrealistic' about this other than it did well and people are jealous that didn't buy in (which is common place with the nay sayers).

Anyway, grats to those who bought in. Don't believe the FUD from the jealous people that missed the boat. Look at the trade volume on Huobi, clearly there is nothing 'unrealistic' about it. Just too bad all cryptos hit the shitter in the last 24 hrs. WAX was no exception.

This all sounds like 100% FUD and speculation. I got my WAX and I know lots of others that got theirs. I know there was some KYC issues with some people, but from the sounds most of that was their own fault. Not sure why certain people like to talk negative about everything  "oh something good happened, must be someone bad doing it for evil purposes". Just 100% FUD.
