21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What are the good brands of power supply? on: April 24, 2018, 07:18:51 AM
So far, my preference for out of the box PSUs is EVGA. Corsair and Thermaltake are also good.

Old Dell and HP server PSUs are also built like tanks. If you add a breakout board, you can get very cost-effective units on Ebay.
22  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Hardware Mining vs Cloud Mining vs Staking or Masternodes on: April 14, 2018, 09:02:10 AM
Right now, when crypto is still quite depressed, I would say that masternodes is the best of these because it is essentially a buy-and-hold strategy. You get the benefit of appreciation and "dividend" yields. Also - not to be discounted - a MN investment is always liquid, so you can exit the position if you need to much faster than HW mining (ebay) or cloud mining contracts (nothing). To clarify, I'm only talking about masternodes in high quality MN coins like DASH, PIVX, BitSend, Diamond, Crown, NAV. Right now there are so many ridiculous MN coins that will never ROI. If the coin goes to zero, you make very little. If it pops back up as Dash will and PIVX already is, then you do well.
23  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CoinTracking - Profit/Loss Portfolio and Tax Reporting for Digital Currencies on: March 25, 2018, 12:13:11 AM
I have 30K+ txs that I'm importing into Unlimited. It's vexing because some APIs are unreliable (KuCoin) and many wallets are unsupported. When all -Qt wallets have the same essential format, why the hell does CoinTracking not have a dedicated importer for them? It's absolutely ridiculous!

I have created a process for transferring QT wallets into CoinTracking accepted Excel files (or CSV files). Sharing in case it's helpful to others. This is easy to implement as an Excel macro or just to do if you only have a few wallets to sync.

QT Wallet Export CSV -> CoinTracking Excel Import Macro

1
Import CSV file.

2
Request CoinName text from user.

Check CSV Col-A (Confirmed) and delete any rows <> TRUE.

4
Modify Date to text as “YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS” (use 24 hr time. If SS is blank add as 00) (If altering by hand, just find/replace "T" with " ".)

5
If CSV file Col-C (Type) = “Received with” then Output file Col-A (Type) == “Deposit”; Output Col-B (Buy Amount) == CSV Col-F (Amount); Output Col-C (Buy Cur.) == CoinName.

6
If CSV file Col-C (Type) = “Mined” then Output file Col-A (Type) == “Mining”; Output Col-B (Buy Amount) == CSV Col-F (Amount); Output Col-C (Buy Cur.) == CoinName.

7
If CSV file Col-C (Type) = “Sent to” then Output file Col-A (Type) == “Withdrawal”; Output Col-D (Sell Amount) == CSV Col-F (Amount); Output Col-E (Sell Cur.) == CoinName.

8
If CSV file Col-C (Type) = “Payment to yourself” then Output file Col-A (Type) == “Transfer”; Output Col-B (Buy Amount) == 0; Output Col-C (Buy Cur.) == CoinName; Output Col-D (Sell Amount) == 0; Output Col-E (Sell Cur.) == CoinName; Output Col-F (Fee Amount) == CSV Col-F (Amount); Output Col-G (Fee Cur.) == CoinName.

9
Output file Col-H == CoinName+“ wallet”; Output Col-J (Comment) == CSV Col-D (Label).

24  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: EOS or Tron on: January 21, 2018, 09:29:55 AM
Platform coins are good bets, but since there are a lot of potential ups and downs, I take a portfolio approach. If you like this space, you might want to split your investment money 4-ways between EOS, TRON, QTUM and NEO. Spread your risks around and maybe have a lot more exciting days watching the charts.
25  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: How to acquire 300-400 Antminer S9 units? on: January 04, 2018, 08:12:34 AM
Flying to Shenzen is actually a good way to go, but I wouldn't just go cold. Find a fixer in Shenzen that already has contacts with Bitmain and hire them as an intermediary. (Find the right one and you may not even have to go.  But you should, it's an experience!) There are also some resellers out of China who you could meet with and negotiate a reasonable price for an order like this - you can find some at eBay and Cryptonia marketplaces. Look for those based in China and screen well! A few of the bigger or older mining operations also have existing relationships where it's easy to order them before the public can get them. One of these people could also help you.

XUV MNs are still earning. No MN operator would have any idea that anything is off about the coin unless they check in here regularly, which many don't. You could cap the trades so that no coins mined after Dec 25th are eligible for trade, but you have to give these people more time. Otherwise, just admit that you are an unabashed scam.

To top off how ridiculous this is, the Dev is giving XUV holders 4 days over Xmas to swap their coins or lose everything. Talk about BS!

A hard fork sounds pretty good. Almost as good as a long DDoS attack. Not that I'd ever suggest such a thing.

Announcement:
Instead of listing XUV coin on exchanges, the Tokugawa dev and XUV dev team has decided to merge the XUV coins into TOK.
We took this decision so that we can be the next big masternode coin such as Dash or PivX.
Because of this decision we will get more locked coins by the users in the form of Masternode.
Because of this decision the dev will not be left with any coins to dump, this is good for community.

With increased number of masternodes, the TOK masternode holders will get less rewards but the coin price will rise significantly.
This decision will give us better volumes for TOK coin so that we can list on Qryptos or HitBTC easily.
All the unused TOK and XUV coins will be burnt by the developer. We expect not many coins in TOK to be left anyways.

The XUV coin holders should login to client panel of http://XUVcoin.com and use the tab of """Exchange XUV to TOK""" to transfer the XUV coins to get TOK coins.

Steps:
1. Login to Client panel of http://XUVcoin.com
2. Click "Exchange XUV to TOK"
3. Download Tokugawa wallet from http://tokugawacoin.com
4. Please let the wallet sync first, only after sync is complete you will get a new TOK address.
5. In Tokugawa wallet, please click on Receive tab and right click the TOK address to copy it
6. On XUVcoin.com in the client panel, you will see blank TOK address field and you will also see EDIT button. Please click this EDIT button and enter the TOK address, then click save.
7. You will see the XUV address on the page. You can send the XUV coins to this address to get TOK coins.

The swap period ends on Christmas 25th December

HOLD ON! You are closing off the swap 4 days after announcing this BS? You need to rethink this hard. Perhaps you are aware that this is a holiday period? I realize Christmas isn't a big holiday in Japan, but then, you guys are more likely on Jupiter than in Japan.

You need to give people a few weeks. Many will be away from their wallets due to the holiday. Two weeks is the minimum acceptable amount of time for a swap on something like this. Many of your purchasers will not have heard this news yet. A month would be more reasonable. I suggest you change the swap period until at least Jan 4, 2018, but more like Jan 21, 2018.

What do we look for on Geocaching? There are hundreds of caches. Is there a way for us to narrow it down or is it blind luck? If so, you might not end up having that many found.

Is there any special function for this coin not already seen in other PoS coins? Please discuss special features. DarkSend? InstaSend, etc. Thanks.
32  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Antminer D3 - "Socket Connection Failed" on: December 11, 2017, 07:33:02 AM
Both of mine miners went offline this morning. Due to socket connection failure. Do you guys know if it's possible to get a refund on them or they will just replace them?

Are you still in warrantee period? I doubt they'll refund them. (If so, please pass me that hammer.)  Also if they previously worked and now do not, I think they'll blame it on bad power or connectivity. Mine never connected from the moment I opened the boxes.
33  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: help needed with mining rig please!! code 12!! BTC reward for solution! on: December 11, 2017, 07:30:00 AM
I have the same mobo, i had the same error on windows 10. 4x 1070ti connected to the mobo windows only could use 3 of them, I found a makeshift bios from asrock for 4g option. It did not fix it either. The only fix I could find is just ditching the windows all together and install linux. I have all GPUs working now. For testing I also added another card it can use 5x GPUs without problem.

Agree. There's a LOT to like about converting to a headless Linux build. Windows has its strengths, but to me, a simple miner that requires no license or automatic updates and restarts itself mining again every time it reboots is a joy.
34  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is my Antminer D3 alright? on: December 11, 2017, 07:25:54 AM
Coinmine.pl, prohashing.com, zpool.ca are pretty good dash pools. Prohashing will automatically switch coins and you can set your payout to many coins in whatever percentage you like.

I was just about to receive a payment from Nicehash and lost a tidy sum there. I doubt I'll go back to them. I suspect they were either negligently careless or complicit in the hack.

Do you recommend a d= difficulty or just leave it blank?  I'm on zpool.ca and my hash rate fluctuates between 19 and 3 :/

I omit the difficulty param based on the idea that the machine will quickly settle into an appropriate difficulty level within a few rounds. However, I have not tested this thoroughly yet and could be wrong. I have enough machines now that I can and should test this, but I haven't had the time to tinker at that level quite yet. (real life. Jeez!) I will let you know what I find out.
35  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Antminer D3 Blissz firmware (10/12 v1.12 update) on: December 10, 2017, 11:54:36 PM
Thanks for the update. To those who suggest the dev isn't responsive, I say, what do you call new updates every few days? It's one guy working on this, making our D3s more useful for us, whether our concern is noise, heat, or max hashrate. I expect he has a life and real job too.

Blissz, thanks for the development. Awesome Miner integration is a priority for me, since that's my main administration tool. I think that people have a point that mining the devfee soon after a restart does increase the amount of devfee mining. However, I expect if you wait too long then a few people will restart their miners to prevent your fee. What about mining the devfee after 45 minutes as a happy medium? That would ensure that the miners were running and stable for owners, but probably not be worth it to them to constantly restart to avoid your fee.
36  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Antminer D3 - "Socket Connection Failed" on: December 09, 2017, 06:49:40 AM
I have had 10 machines do this to me at a time, a manual reset usually fixes it

Yeah, this was beyond the norm, It was bad IO boards. I followed Barbara's instructions and found that the board could not connect even with all hashboards boards disconnected. Then I went further and separated the BB boards from the IO boards and paired them up with boards from working units. BB boards worked, IO boards didn't. 27 bad ones! These things must have been built on a Monday, or whatever the Chinese equivalent is. It happens.
37  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: help needed with mining rig please!! code 12!! BTC reward for solution! on: December 09, 2017, 06:37:20 AM

in the memory part it shows 6of my graphic cards. could that be the problem, and if so how do I fix it
https://imgur.com/a/DeOjt

Your PCI Express root port #3 seems to be your problem. It's overlapping resources for 3 of your 1050 ti cards and your HD Audio Controller (00000000A0000000 - 00000000B30FFFFF). First, update the drivers to the latest and see if that corrects the problem on its own. If not, manually assign it another memory page from Windows Device Manager that doesn't overlap any of your other devices.

You have one of two problems, I think. (Or maybe both.)

• Your 1000W PSU may be underpowered for this configuration.
• Two or more cards are trying to access the same memory.

The process to correct it is to unplug everything but one GPU. Boot. See if you avoid this problem.

Continue adding one card at a time until you get a conflict. 9 times out of 10 it's the Interrupt Request (IRQ) number that's assigned to two card, but it can also be DMA and I/O. Look for a conflict in Windows Device Manager. Look at the resources for each card. All should be unique and not overlap. (Write a little grid to track it.) If the IRQ or another param repeats, set it to a different address and reboot.

If you find that you can add any three cards but never four (or whatever) without the error, then you could be unintentionally undervolting your cards. Moving up to a 1200w PSU would probably fix that.

Good luck!
40  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Antminer D3 Chain 3 missing on: December 08, 2017, 09:49:56 AM
Give the machine a while to warm up and reboot. Sometimes they get a little quirky on the long trip from China. But if it doesn't go away, start a support ticket with Bitmain ASAP.
