161  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][POW] MenjameLCoin - P2P Decentralized crypto-fiat exchange platform on: November 22, 2017, 04:32:20 AM
How is the blockheight already 10270+?  You launched this like 45 mins ago.

There are basically no rewards left.  Because the subsidy halves every 1,000 blocks, but the coin has been launched at 10,000+ blocks, the dev has taken all of the blocks that have any reasonable size.  The current block reward is less than 2 per block.  Don't waste your time.

Roughly 4 million coins insta-mined, and current reward is 2/block.  Seriously, dev: what was the point?

Max. Coin supply is 44M
Min subsidy is 0.5 MLC
Many to get!

Basically the coins pre-mined will be used for testing and to help getting things done.

We are working hard and we are showing it.  Smiley

Thanks for your feedback.

Okay well I edited my feedback to note that it seems like the pre-mine is okay then, but this doesn't seem like a good one for miners.  4 million supply and 2 rewards/block doesn't leave much for miners to earn.  But I hope your platform is successful.  Maybe you should consider making it a PoS coin instead, since it doesn't seem like pointing a bunch of SHA256 ASICs at this has much use.

Edit:  Dev clarified that a 4 million pre-mine is for the platform.  That's fine I guess, it just doesn't seem like there is much point mining this coin for 2/block when there is 4 million for platform, bounties and airdrops.  If it's a good platform, the project might be fine, it just doesn't seem like the focus is for mining.  Maybe that's good, given how many coins are mined just for pump and dump these days.

164  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] STRAKS - Decentralised, Open Source, Community Driven Digital Currency on: November 22, 2017, 01:22:54 AM
Would it be possible for devs to clear up some of the confusions here by updating the ANN with the relevant info?

Why are people saying CPU-only mining?  It's Lyra2Rev2, which is in CCMiner, right?  So why would this be a cpu-only coin for any period of time?  Aren't there already pools with this coin?  People will just GPU mine to those pools, no?

In straks gui wallet i have generated new address. It will compatible for future/tomorrow GPU mining?
Not until an updated miner is released for GPU mining

I don't get this at all.  Why would addresses generated in the wallet now be invalid/incompatible with future mining?

I got the same vibes reading through and I'm pretty sure it's just misinformation.
1. The chain is live so wallets created now should be good for whatever you need them for on the chain.
2. Yes Lyra2Rev2, yes CCMiner
3. As far as I know, after block 10080, the reward will go from 0 to 10 straks per block and anyone can mine it however they can manage.
4. Found a pool for STRAKS with a notice that it will be available for mining after block 10080 at https://mpool.mooo.com/
5. I don't think there is a CPU only time unless it's the pre 10080 block time.

Appreciate your thoughts, thanks for responding!

Just curious - what is the reason behind the swap?  Is it just a rescue of the SIGT community?

With over 100 million SIGT out there, the price of STRAKS is going to be temporarily limited by the price of SIGT I think.

Here is an example: if I can get 1 STRAK for every 4 SIGT, and SIGT is 1.5 US cents, then I know I can basically buy a STRAK For 6 cents.  If I can effectively buy STRAK for 6 cents each, then anytime the STRAK price goes above 6 cents there is an arbitrage opportunity, and people will buy SIGT to swap and sell STRAK down to 6 cents.

I'm not saying you shouldn't swap to SIGT.  I'm just curious why that became part of the coin (I don't think it's explained in the ANN unless I missed it, and it doesn't seem relevant to your roadmap beyond rescuing SIGT).  The arbitrage opportunites will only exist until the SIGT swap closes, and after that I'm sure the STRAK price will grow just fine.  It might be good to have a second source of STRAK generation (the swaps) aside from just mining/buying, but the reasons should be in the ANN.

It is related to block size  , we will look at that when everything is stable , if you are waiting for a compensation  or payment for those 2 blocks , you must stop mining , we cant promise anything about that we will investigate the issue. No one is forcing you to continue mining.

That's crazy.  There is absolutely nothing wrong with you waiting until there is stability to look into this issue.  But the idea that you would refuse to pay out tens of thousands of TCO that is due to miners because you "cant promise anything" is ridiculous.  This is your coin.  You own the good, and you take the responsibility for the bad.  Take your time to investigate, but if you can't solve it, you must pay out from your pre-mine.  If you do not, this will go down in flames as just another CryptoNote shitcoin.

I'm still so puzzled - how can you code/clone something wrong and then call it someone else's problem?  Your protecting your pre-mine so jealously would guarantee this is a scam waiting to be dumped.

That being said, I'm happy to wait to see what you guys actually do.  If you do the right thing, it will give confidence in this project and be good for long term.

"duffann - Announcements only , not a part of the core team"

He's not a dev and failed to be as an announcer...

I'm happy to wait until a dev says something.  I'm also happy to abandon mining if they decide to screw over the early miners.

I get that miners who missed the first few blocks won't care, and may actually be happy if other miners don't get paid properly, because they will think it means less competition.  But if the dev team doesn't help us, they won't help you when something else goes wrong, and it will show they are looking for short-term profit, not long-term stability, fairness, and value.

I recommend that people keep mining until we hear from devs, but if the devs decide they cannot fix and will not compensate the first two pool payments, then I promise you there will be a dev dump as soon as this hits exchanges.

Devs absolutely must fix or compensate for first two payments from pool, or this will be a big problem.

Height: 7538? is it a fair launch? is it the offical ann? i can't believe it

Height was only around 7100-7200 at launch, you just missed the first 500 blocks of public mining.

The ANN clearly says 0.30% (630,000 TCO) pre-mine.  The block size is roughly 87-89.  630,000 divided by 89 is roughly 7100.  So I assume the 7100 block-height at launch represents the pre-mine.  Can devs confirm this is accurate?  If there is also a genesis block pre-mine, then we have a problem.

If it is accurate, I see nothing incorrect about the ANN, and this would be one of the smoother launches I have seen.  Good to see honest devs not claiming they will be the next global currency for everything

None of your links work?  Looks like you have some structure here though, I will keep an eye on it.  I think 10% founder's reward is too high.  You should make it 4-5% at most.

I love how people bring the scam scam word and say someone took money when a coin is not even listed on any market !!!
What money has the dev stole from anyone ?

There was a paid mining period.  Dev released wallet early to those who paid, and promised to use that money for listings.  So IF the dev has in fact run off, it is a scam, because there was real money involved.

I agree. I'm still mining

What on earth are you talking about?  The dev has been offline for 17 days.  What makes you think this project is alive?  I'd be happy for you if it is, but you all are mining blindly with no information.

I like that the dev is transparent about the airdrop results with the google form.  Happy airdropping!

Is joining Telegram mandatory to join the airdrop?  The form lets you answer "no" but does that make you ineligible?

I think the increasing block size is a very interesting concept, as it will help counter-act the increased number of miners and difficulty.

Its will be cool if dev change diff recalculation from 1 time per 24 blocks to each block.

That may not prevent the sticking entirely, though it will surely help.  Part of what's weird is that the difficulty doesn't rise and fall slowly, it seems to jump a lot or fall a lot.
