201  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is it too late to buy bitcoin? on: November 02, 2017, 03:36:03 AM
I do not think it's too late before the end of the year. bitcoin prices will definitely continue to grow over time. especially at the end of the year. well, it is possible that the bitcoin price will be above $ 7000 by the end of the year. so prepare yourself, because this is not too late.

The way the rally is going we could very well see that by tomorrow  Shocked

Also, before blindly taking advice from these "Nicehash supporters" take a look at some of their post histories. User yerfei for example, almost every post he has made recently is in reply to similar threads where is one line answer is "You can start with NiceHash or Winminer", along with a link. Who's to say he is not an representative from Nicehash/Winminer promoting their product? It doesn't take much to make an account on this forum and level it up, so you need to research more than just the pools when relying on information found on here.

You're killin' me smalls  Grin  I'm definitely NOT a promoter of any kind, I just think Nicehash is a good entry plug n play software.

I also mine ETH, Musicoin, and GRC/SPARC, but the latter are mostly out of interest more than returns.  I've had some issues on other pools that no one was able to solve so I just got frustrated and stuck with Nicehash due to lack of time.  Where/what are you mining??  Or better yet, where did you go after Nicehash?
203  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ** Breaking News ** Run 12 AMD GPUs on Windows on: October 30, 2017, 03:58:52 PM
Other than the coolness factor do you really need to run more than 13 GPU's off of the same motherboard? I know there is economics of scale, but these motherboards cost more as well, offsetting the savings gained. Plus you need extra PSUs, more memory and a bigger SSD. So adding all this up the cost savings really isn't a lot more than say 2 smaller rigs.

Also, a point that has been argued before, if the rig experiences issues, then you have 19, 21, or however many GPUs you manage to get running down at once versus with smaller rigs you would have maybe 8 GPUs down while the others would remain running. While these videos are nice to watch for the geek factor, it seems to be pointless after a certain limit.

This.  You have the redundancy and up time factor of having multiple rigs and not working every piece of hardware component to its fullest capacity all the time.  Decent MBs, mem, and a PSU are the inexpensive parts of a rig anyway.

Hello everyone,

Is it actually profitable to mine with NiceHash ?

Feels like having your coin sold for BTC isn't allowing you to trade or hodl for a better price (but avoid big dumps).

Best,

Yes it is.  As a newbie, I started off with Minergate because of the number of alt coins (most are shit, unfortunately) and its easy to use interface.  I quickly figured out I wasn't getting much out of my equipment there.  I then went to nanopool with claymore for ETH but with the difficulty increases and instability of the coin value lately, the ROI went in the tank so I stopped.  I then picked up NiceHash and frankly I like it.  Am I eking out the most I can out of my equipment?  No, but for the most part it's start and walk away.  With (3) MSI 1070s undervolted and clocked I'm seeing $5.33/day ATM.   The payout was quick and without a hitch and I appreciate the value in that.
205  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What happen to mining profitability? on: October 30, 2017, 03:09:26 PM
So again, if your belief is that the coin(s) you are interested in mining are going to continue to go up in value, after all that is why you are willing to invest $1,000's of dollars in hardware that might in maybe 1 year break even, why not instead invest $1,000's directly into the coin(s) and in 1 year be in profit, not just at break even?

GPU mining is the lowest risk entry point because you always have a price on physical equipment. This is especially important to newcomes due to unease / fear of a new (to them) technology - you can't have your cards stolen / deleted / lost etc.

I too went back and forth on ROI with simply investing in coin versus investing in mining.  Yes, I'm going to have a 9 month payback on my rig, but I'll still have the physical hardware that isn't ASIC.

I *might* lose my coins
The coins *might* become worthless
The cost of electricity *might* go way up

I obviously am betting that won't be the case but it's all possible.  I've been watching Ebay and Amazon for used equipment and they're all selling at 80% of new cost.  Hell you can see that on a car the moment you drive it off the lot.  The equipment I chose for the mining rig can be re-sold to people who want to use it for it's original intended purpose such as rendering or gaming and I don't think that's going to go away anytime soon.  Well I hope not anyway or life won't nearly be as fun  Grin

206  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Building a 600 CORES - Supercomputer to mine VeriumReserve on: October 30, 2017, 02:46:12 PM
We normally think about ROI, but it's really not everything.  What's the ROI on a TV, boat, or fishing pole?  None  Grin But they're all fun.  This build is really cool despite that and I'm glad you're having a good time building it!
207  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Dual Musicoin/DCR Mining on: October 05, 2017, 11:44:22 PM

Oc the gpu's to much? Check for memory errors with something like hwinfo64 or try lowering your dcr intensity? "You can change the intensity in runtime with "+" and "-" keys and check current statistics with "s" key."

I tried going stock by turning off Afterbuner, no help.  I swung the intensity in both directions and I checked for memory errors of which there were none.

Still 100% reject rate.  I tried it in dual mining for straight ETH, still no dice.  Like I said I'm at a complete loss.
208  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: should i invest in ETH & LTC? on: October 05, 2017, 02:41:20 AM
I'm in the same boat as you guys.  My main holdings are in BTC, ETH, and LTC.  I'm mining XMR, GRD, and MUSIC mostly out of interest but for actual investments I agree with you all.
209  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Dual Musicoin/DCR Mining on: October 05, 2017, 02:33:41 AM

Something not right in your config, your batch file says music @ epool.io and dcr @ supernova and your log says eth @ nanopool and pasc @ nanopool Wink

Check config.txt, epool.txt and dpool.txt

Thanks for the reply Spitkicker.  The Musicoin pool I mine from requires the use of an ETH miner (see here: https://gmc.epool.io/#/help) pointed where it is.  The musicoins are mined fine and I can confirm them in my wallet.  It's just the DCR that's a problem.

I pulled the batch info from config.txt as you suggested, filled in with current info, and ran it.  Both music coin and DCR are coming up as authorized, eth (musicoin) shares are accepted just like before but still getting rejected DCR shares  Angry  What else could it be?  I'm about to email Suprnova and say wtf mate.
210  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Dual Musicoin/DCR Mining on: October 04, 2017, 04:19:40 AM
Hey Everyone,

After many failed attempts, I've run out of options that I currently comprehend and ask for your help.  I'm currently successfully mining Musicoin and unsuccessfully mining DCR out of curiosity and obviously not profit.  No matter what I seem to do, 100% of my DCR shares fail.  Here's what I've gathered and attempted based on reading here, watching YouTube, praying to every god I can think of, etc..

1) Turned off MSI Afterburner (I have 2-1070s)
2) Changed my intensity to 80
3) Tried changing port to 3344 as per other earlier posts
4) Changed back to what suprnova states is correct for Claymore
Code:
-dpool stratum+tcp://dcr.suprnova.cc:3252 -dwal mydcrwallet.worker -dpsw 12345
5) I'm running Claymore 10.0
6) I've tried it on 2 separate machines
7) Again, Musicoin mining is succesful
8 )....
9) Drink
10) Not profiting Sad

Here's what I'm seeing on Claymore
