As for what system vTorrent will actually use has still not been confirmed (this is at least partly backed up by the dev saying very, very, very early on that he was going to keep most details private because there was another unrelated scam "Magnetz") What you're saying is that this was a pure speculation investment for two years, since no code of the main feature has been shown yet, and your argument is "but the dev said this is going to be a secret.." , how long do you think that "secret" can hold ? another two years? The OP says it aims to be the next limewire or kazaa with a blockchain at it's core, i'm pretty sure they are refuring to being like a content sharing platform, not to function exactly the same as them. An inbuilt torrent client with the ability to search the blockchain for magnet links, this is what I imagine it to be, but I can't confirm it 100% as I know as much as everyone else. When I said private key, I meant xpriv key. I wanted to add an hd account to my wallet using the 12 word backup, but you can't do that in Mycelium. You scan a qr code of a "private key or HD Account." I was asking how to generate the private key (xpriv) from the word sequence so I could import it. The link dooglus posted will do it, and so will https://bip32jp.github.io/english/Then you would have to generate a qr code from the text string that is the xpriv key. But I haven't done that, because it's a lot of steps, poses risks and it's inconvenient. I ended up doing a fresh install of Mycelium on a second phone, restoring the HD account (the one I wanted to import) from its seed phrase, and the exporting it to the first phone. From what I understand(it's written in the OP) is that it's going to function like kazaa and not like a regular torrent client where users need to visit a tracker to find(browse) the torrent file they are looking for to download, where you have known/registered uploaders that contribute legit content to the tracker.
My question is, how VTR is going to handle the lack of legit and popular content constantly provided by large uploaders ?
Also, part of the torrent user experience is the ability to browse the tracker for new(and legit) content , if this client is going to function like Kazaa, there will be no such experience. That is major functionality when it comes to finding content to download and watch/use.  Anyone else is building a fax machine for two years that uses a blockchain? JoyStream. My guess is they raised about $1m from VCs. Do you know more than venture capital people that spend that sort of money? Why don't you head over to the JoyStream reddit and post there? Let me just highlight my concerns over VTR for you.. look up^ btw, joystream uses bitcoin, thats a fucking big plus. |
