What's the hype behind IOTA for? There is no functional wallet yet.

the hype was related to a very long list of partnerships that turned out to be "participations". Anyway, the idea sounds good, it's just not tested yet, as IOTA is neither decentralized, nor fast yet. Before investing more, I'd like to see the coordinator down and have a transaction that takes only a few minutes. Byteball already does this, so for the time being it's more of a sure bet for now.

Byteball is centralized as well. All the witnesses are still under control of the main dev Tony and thus it is centralized. Byteball and IOTA sharing the same DAG technology but have completely different approaches. You can not really compare them. IOTA has still some problems but there is a lot ongoing in the background. More than for any other big crypto project at the moment. The new wallet will change much. The PoCs which will be released soon will show the immense potential. By then, I am glad about all the newbie FUDsters that lower the price since many weak hands sell. Good to accumulate more cheap tokens. Keep work up guys Wink

yes, byteball has all 12 witnesses under the control of the same guy, but at least they are 12. It's not about who controls them. There is some proof it can work decentralized with the cooperation of 12 different agents (regardless of who controls them). With IOTA there is only 1 coordinator, hence no proof if could work with more, or none. What I seek is some proof the principles in the whitepaper work as designed. Also I'd like to see the advertised transaction speed that's supposed to increase with the number of transaction. That hasn't materialized either.

IOTA brought me about 10x gains this month and I sold for better opportunities. All in all I believe in IOTA and I'll buy back on a dip. Just right now with the info available I think it's overpriced.

Skycoin is like a lion that is about to soar.
I am sure it will be top 20 in 2018.

with what I see in the whitepaper I'm suprized it didn't soar a looong time ago. I just hope there isn't something I'm missing here, that's somehow obvious to everybody else Smiley

Lol forget about "participations " and all this BS , nobody cares what coins can do nobody using even Bitcoin , it's all about pump and dump even Dogecoin today up 75% . Just wait for next pump and dump iota...

bitcoin is being used online and offline. Plenty of stores accepting it, even cash machines. I've used it for the past few years. So is monero and dash, but only for darkweb stuff. LTC is also used to quickly transfer money since it's the fastest of the widely accepted ones. I've stopped using bitcoin for real, because of the extremly high fees. Monero and ltc are still ok though.

Of course real usage is probably 1-5%, the rest being speculators. When the bubble pops prices will adjust accordingly and any coins that have no real usage will simply die.

As far as I know IOTA is one of the few from the top 5 that have no real usage yet.

This coin will double over 100x in the next months, mark my words.

I don't think 100x, but 10x is absolutely possible. I'm sure Byteball will follow IOTA success. I hold a bit from airdrops Wink

Even 10 x is quite a lot, i would say x5 , but who know what will happens!

well IOTA is now about 100x more expensive then byteball, all that with inferior tech. Even without the publicity stunts and lies that IOTA did, I would still expect 10x. I don't think it's unreasonable. Byteball has waaaay more room to grow.
266  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: IOTA on: December 16, 2017, 11:26:06 AM
IOTA price trend has been upwards for a while now, price rebounding to the 4.5 - 5.2 USD range most likely in the next 12h. Seems most likely looking at the big picture patterns of the last 10 days.

The same manipulators who managed to bring it briefly down to 3.5 USD are likely going to drive it back up to cash in, as they did 4 days ago. Or they could wait to cash in more later on, in a few days. Personally I expect 6 - 8 USD within a week. Could be wrong, naturally.
Investors could take profits and lose interest in the coin. As it became known, the role of Microsoft is much exaggerated and it's done on purpose.

exactly what I did yesterday. I hope it was not a mistake. Long term I don't think IOTA rising more then 6-8 USD. I'd rather try to get a 10x growth from other promising coins that are still not noticed then to get a few more bucks on IOTA.
267  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: IOTA on: December 15, 2017, 10:08:39 PM

Yeah, if twats bother posting links to bullshit articles like these.

Can you answer one by one ?
otherwise people will believe it and IOTA will drop to below 15000 satoshi or less (around 13.000 I guess)

https://www.reddit.com/r/Iota/comments/7j81tq/fud_copy_pastas/

that doesn't really answer any of his question though....Copy pasting the same link every-time somebody voices a concern is starting to get irritating.

How can it be that addresses are pending for one entire month? With rebroadcasting, switching nodes and reattaching 22 other addresses to the tangle

Please search for IOTA on reddit, I believe they have a thread opened with someone that has a full node that can confirm your transaction, they are setting up more full nodes, confirmation times are getting faster.

Don't do that. People have lost their money due to these nodes. Read up here: https://github.com/iotaledger/wallet/issues/734
269  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [SKY] Skycoin Launch Announcement on: December 15, 2017, 06:26:55 PM
can you release a guide to DIY skycoin miner.

The bitcoin price is too high, some people cant afford it, but they like skycoin and want to run the miner.

what do you mean can't afford it? You do realize you don't have to buy a whole bitcoin right? There is no minimum....

How BIG will this coin be in 2018?

What's your thoughts about price?

When should I invest in this coin, price is high atm...

LOL.  The entire market is worth 87 mil. How low do you want it to go? 0?
270  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: IOTA on: December 15, 2017, 05:26:21 PM
Im trying to sell in the last 4 days, cant have my fund move from wallet to exchange! still pending...
Whys that?

It seems many people suffered this issue, the network is not working smoothly now.

to be fair, it never did. There are always looong wait times with IOTA and you need to re-attach/re-broadcast a lot.
271  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: IOTA on: December 13, 2017, 10:23:56 PM
Iota is falling and falling

Even Charlie Lee of ltc was fudding it the other day - out of order and unfounded.

When iota soared tenfold barely an article in the coin news. Coin site owners are generally long hold bitcoiners.

IF iota nail timestamps and smart contracts, IF the infinite scalability that increases with user nodes works, it's the only crypto currency out there that could handle the entire world finance. IF all the others do is deliver blockchains, they are dead and they know it... the dag era will be upon us. And if that's the case iota have a 2 year head start.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Iota/comments/7j81tq/fud_copy_pastas/

there are many others that scale properly, including blockchain based solutions, many way ahead technologically then iota. Just because bitcoin failed here (and it didn't really fail at scaling if you look over lightning networks) doesn't mean all of them do. Perfect blockchain example is SKY.  As for DAG solutions, well there are several, starting with byteball

The fudding on IOTA is hilarious   Grin Every single person who owns any other coin is not on the tangle, is not on a transaction free tangle, is not on a scaleable tangle  Cheesy this means that there's a lot of people out there with vested interests who are very afraid right now. Very afraid of this far superior technology.

The microsoft partnership  Roll Eyes so what? Who is bitcoin partnered with? what is bitcoin other than a glorified ponzi scheme at this stage?

IOTA price is down today, it's actaully not any lower than previous dips since it soared to all time high. IOTA's base is about $2.80 to $3.20 right now. End of 2018 we're estimating $20 of solid growth.

There are many real world uses for bitcoin right now. Real businesses accepting them (including Microsoft). I wouln't go as far as calling it a ponzi scheme. By the way the whole cryptomarket is in the same bubble, and that includes iota. When it pops, BTC will fall 90% probably, and most alts to 0 directly. ALL alts that have no real transactions at that point will collapse. Pray that IOTA will have some by that time. Either-way it will fall harder then bitcoin.
272  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: IOTA on: December 13, 2017, 10:15:45 PM
IOTA is insane right now, will we see $10? I hope so!
IOTA will go to the moon!! My guess: $20 2018

I think that's totally achievable if the team succeeds in delivering what they are promissing.

$20 is extremely unlikely even if they deliver. The marketcap would put it at #2 with an enormous value. It's already way overpriced. There probably is room to grow, but not 5x. My guess is we are not very far to the all time peak. I'm always amused how traders in a bubble can make long term plans for something that will pop sooner or later.
273  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: IOTA on: December 12, 2017, 08:00:33 PM
Hi guys,

I'll be reading the entire thread as soon I get the time to, but until then I was hoping someone could answer me on a couple of things.

While many believe in IOTA, I see others who are very critical to it. Things I've heard are the following:

- The developers have written their own hash, which is a big no no when it comes to kryptos

- There is no decentralized product

- The tangle technology isn't new and the big problem with it is to get it decentralized

If someone knowledgeable and a believer in IOTA could meet these arguments, I would truly appreciate it.

I was also wondering if there are any other kryptos in the making that could compete with what the IOTA team is trying to do. Lastly I'm curious to how much you think this currency can grow in value the next 5 years, should it turn out to be successful.

byteball has a similar DAG concept but decentralized from the start. It relies on 12 elected witnesses by wallet majority. It hasn't gotten the marketing attention yet
274  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: IOTA on: December 11, 2017, 06:22:33 PM
Can IOTA really scale that well?

IN THEORY it can scale infinitely because no one network participant needs to audit any more of the tangle than he is capable of auditing. It's like a volunteer thing. Every bit helps but you don't HAVE to help. But the software is still basically alpha proof of concept stage. Time will tell if we can really get there.

in practice however you get 24 hour confirm times sometimes for transactions, so the scaling still has to be proven beyond the whitepaper.
275  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: IOTA on: December 10, 2017, 02:37:26 PM
IOTA will be a very lucrative coin in a few years time, much support will make IOTA stronger, the target for 2018 is $ 50.

50 is unlikely. That's around half of bitcoin market cap. Lets get real for a second.

The days of 100x growths are behind us. It's already had that since the ICO. You are late to the party. If you want that kind of growth look for coins that are still in their early days. They way I see it, bitcoin will always hold around 50% of the market, and the rest will be divided by the other coins. Even if IOTA is a success and gets adopted, it may grow to #2, and in value maybe 2x-4x. That's still huge of course (and I'll still be in until it reaches #2), but the real fortunes have already been made.
276  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [SKY] Skycoin Launch Announcement on: December 08, 2017, 09:33:07 PM
This is the next Big Thing and it seems only a few have noticed. My best investment, no doubt.

same feeling here. I don't understand how others have missed this for so long. And they still are. It's mindblowing
277  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: IOTA on: December 08, 2017, 07:51:15 PM
I just can not understand why such a crazy price for this coin?
Hey, is not a coin yet <3. Is a service. IOTA is defined by transaction speed and 0 fees Smiley. I hope it will become a coin in the near future. If i'm wrong correct me please.
And yeah, you have to trust.
Example:  I was a fool because i didnt invest in Ethereum last year and Bitcoin. But i love the system, because you cant be smart if you are not a fool first.

Think at IOTA like Ethereum last year when it was 7USD.

Good luck and make your choice Smiley

in terms of transaction speed it seems it's a failed experiment. You will not get anything confirmed in under 12 hours.
278  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: IOTA on: December 07, 2017, 11:38:43 AM
Pump and dump?!  Huh

well with 10 people owning 50% of the currency it will always be a risk
279  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: IOTA on: December 07, 2017, 09:32:46 AM
I've transfered my iota to bitfinex and after a long time it finaly shows as confirmed, after several reattaches and re-broadcasts. Tangle explorer shows the correct balance but not bitfinex. Has this happend to anyone else on bitfinex?

If its any consolation. I am waiting 24 hours for an iota deposit to go through to bitfinex. I did the re-attaches/re-broadcasts yesterday. How long were you waiting before it showed confirmed?

started it last night, in the morning I re-attached and re-broadcasted and after the re-attach from this morning it got confirmed in half an hour. The problem is bitfinex still doesn't show it, although it's confirmed.
