Let me add the one I created,
One (1) Merit point to Rank-up Service, Jr. to Hero Members Are Welcome.
I'll keep it open as long as I have sMerit

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3108981

Done! Nice service by the way, I'll be sure to come to you when I'm about to rank up  Grin
22  Economy / Services / Re: Bitcoin Forum Puzzle on: March 11, 2018, 03:09:57 PM
Great idea! it's actually fun and you can learn a couple of things from this thread, I have merited InvoKing's post since he didn't get any reward for his right answer and I'm willing to sponsor another merit. I don't have many sMerits to give so that's the best I can do.

English is my second language and I'm very bad with puzzles, so I'll just sit and watch  Grin
23  Other / Meta / Re: Merit Stat from theymos data on: March 11, 2018, 02:58:36 PM
Wow! You really did a great job!

I have this question: If we remove 25 Jan and 26 Jan from the data, would Thursday and Friday still be the days when the most sMerits are sent?

I also want to say that merit sources are probably staff and legendary members, and that's why those members sent the most merits, not to mention that legendary members started with the most sMerits to giveaway.

does it mean people getting short of sMerits? Or trying to give less?
I would like to see the spread of merits among the users.
Were they fed up in giving merits? Were they exhausted? Can't they find quality posts now? Or what? So members like me will be informed about their reasons and expectations for me to have merit/s.
Thank you for your appreciation.
This is based on my opinion but as what I see both of your question is could be answered by YES; People are getting short of sMerits and trying to give less. However, I have no proof how much remaining sMerits are left in each account to tell they are giving less.

We may be able to calculate the sMerits of any user, I don't know if it would be easy to do for a large number of accounts but I know how to do it:
Every user started with 'a' sMerits, received 'b' merits and spent 'c' sMerits, so the number of sMerits 'x' a user has is:
x = a + b/2 - c
I'm ranked as a member and I initially received 1 sMerit, legendary members received 200 sMerits - QuestionAuthority stated - but if I remember correctly Theymos said that not all users of a certain rank started with the same amount of sMerits but they actually started with an amount of sMerits based on the number of activity points gained in the last year, so if a user has gained 0 activity in the last year he didn't receive any sMerits.

We may need more research to know exactly how many sMerits every member started with, or we could ask Theymos Grin , but I just thought of giving you my 2 cents.

Edit: This one was added when you posted but since I didn't reply to your post I thought I should mention it.

Added, you're welcome.

Was this the purpose of Merit system ? Note that these are not newbies making these posts.
The merit system prevents accumulating more shit but doesn't clean the shit we already have  Grin Grin
26  Other / Meta / Re: Here is the quality of posts after merit system on: March 11, 2018, 09:14:12 AM

I'm afraid that those shitposters will keep spamming the forums even if they get 1k activity and no merits. Sometimes I get a feeling that those are actually bots not humans with an intelligence level only enough to spam shitposts and won't even notice that they're not ranking up, they will just keep spamming shitposts no matter what.

They'll keep shitposting because their sig campaign manager allows those sort of shitposts. They (shitposters) know that as long as they spam their 2-liner generic and unreadable bullcrap, they'll still get X reward from their sig campaign, so there's no incentive (for old accounts with no merits and account farmers) to make an effort to write a decent post.

That's the point I wanna get to, they don't really care about ranking up, as long as they get paid for spamming shit it's all that it matters. I do hope that after a couple of months into the merit system Theymos starts a wave of bans for those shitposters to clean the forums of them.
This way old shitposters will get banned and new shitposters won't get out of Jr. member.
27  Other / Meta / Re: Here is the quality of posts after merit system on: March 10, 2018, 09:08:22 PM
It seems that you are saying that the Merit system is not working and there are still a lot of spammers or shitposters that is in the forum.

I don't think that the new system will have an effect immediately, the new system is still in months and I don't think that you will be seeing that effect soon.
Those four users have received, in total, one merit point. None of them have gained rank through the merit system.

If this continues, theymos said that he will eliminate signatures and other ways of earning of money in this forum.
He actually said that! where? I thought he ruled out eliminating sig camps because I'm sure I've seen him state this in one of his old posts..
Would you please put a link or quote what he said?

Top 4 posts according to what metric?
I think he actually meant the last four posts. I mean when you visit a board you see the threads ordered according to the time of the last reply in each thread, what I think he did is that he picked the last 4 threads (which are placed at the top of the page Grin) then picked the last reply in each of them.
28  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best investment strategy: How much to diversify? on: March 10, 2018, 12:48:19 PM
Sometimes the whole cryptomarket moves in the same direction. So there is still a risk no matter how many coins you invest in. My advice is to diversify by investing in assets other than cryptocurrencies.

BTW I think you are confusing things up, check this article for the difference between Systematic and Unsystematic risk: https://keydifferences.com/difference-between-systematic-and-unsystematic-risk.html
29  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: STOP! TO ALL FELLOW NEWBIES AND JR. MEMBERS on: March 10, 2018, 12:33:38 PM
We can ask to give us some credit if people like what we've done right? or we just do our best, sit and wait for the best? i find it hard to get merit but i do my very best.

There is something wrong with you, it's your first post in the forum and it's about merits? and you find it "hard" to earn them? You started ranting before you even try getting affected by all the users complaining about merits. Assuming this account is not an alt but a newbie who joined this forum.

Anyway, I will answer your question. Don't ever ask for merits.. Even if your post is meritorious most members won't merit it when they see you asking/begging for merits.
30  Other / Meta / Re: Signature bounties and Merits on: March 10, 2018, 12:01:21 PM
How do the signature bounties affect to the merits? I had participated a signature bounty and during that time I did not receive at least one merit. Honestly, during that time, I had to post more posts (to meet signature bounty requirement) it affected to the quality of the posts. But I didn't receive any merit for the good posts (according to my knowledge Smiley). By the way now I'm not participating any signature bounty will see if I get any merits without a signature.
Do you think Signature bounties affect to the bounty hunters merit?

I know that signature campaigns do affect merits. Some members don't give merits if they see you wearing a paid signature, others go as far as ignoring you solely for that cause. I've seen some high ranked members (even merit sources) stated it:

  • If you have ever had a signature ad, then I've almost certainly already clicked "ignore" on you before I've ever read even a single post of yours. I generally wont see your posts no matter how high quality they are unless I stumble across them some other way.  You'll significantly increase the chances of your posts being noticed if you have NEVER had an ad in your signature.
I don't think it's the right thing to do, nothing other than the quality of a post should determine if it's merit worthy or not. But we actually don't have a say in this..

Anyway my advice for you is not to join a sig campaign until you are posting enough without joining it. Some members might check your post history when they merit one of your posts, and having it full of high quality posts increases your chances in getting merited more than once by the same user.
31  Other / Meta / Re: Is the Merit System Generating Enough Merits? on: March 10, 2018, 08:43:08 AM

I don't know if it is as a result of this thread or not but it looks like theymos agreed that there wasn't enough Merit. There has been an update to the Merit Sources.

Quote
Merit sources
There are 57 merit sources with a total merit generation of up to 14750 sMerit per 30 days

The same number of sources but more sMerit.

I don't think this was because of my thread. I believe that Theymos is closely monitoring the merit system and would know if there isn't enough merits. He probably was waiting for the default merits to dry up before increasing merit generation.

32  Other / Meta / Re: Is the Merit System Generating Enough Merits? on: March 10, 2018, 08:33:38 AM
You know what you have a point with that computation, which make me to admire you because I think you are best mathematics. But I guess you can't get the point the simple logic made by "theymos" it is not about the merit you earned or the spendable merit it's about how they can help each one to be matured in digitalization world. They trying to woke up in the reality of modernization, try to looked first the present before you looked in the future.

Sorry for messing the point and commenting on your English but you should really think of improving it.
I read some of the posts in your history, I'm not a native English speaker but I can tell you this:
After "to" and "can/can't" you should use the infinitive form of the verb. In your current post you should've said: "trying to wake up", "try to look first at the present"
There is much more for you to improve but I don't feel like I'm qualified enough to give you more suggestions, but I would suggest for you to go take a look at this thread and post in it if you'd like, I'm sure the people there would be of much more help than me: The english language improvement thread

33  Other / Meta / Re: Merit hole and 3 fixes might work (Worth looking) on: March 07, 2018, 01:51:03 PM
Nice poll!

2. For a Legendary member, receiving Merit should have a restriction or (may be just) don't apply Merit for them
I believe Theymos has ruled out preventing Legendary members from receiving merits. So my suggestion is to make legendaries receive 1 sMerit for every merit. It may allow some abuse of the system but it would put their accounts on the line and I don't think that would be a wise move of a Legendary member.
Anyway it's not actually a "hole" in the system. Lets say 10% of merits are gone to Legendary members every month. Increase merit generation by sources by 10%, problem solved! So it doesn't actually need a specific solution.

This special privilege is not required at all. Suppose there is a member here with two legendary accounts. He can generate as many merit points he wants  if the suggestion you said was implemented. Most of the senior members are responsible enough but we may have sale of accounts happening frequently. Sometimes the accounts also get hacked and if a scammer has access to such accounts, he will abuse this privilege.

I took that into consideration. I said that "It may allow some abuse of the system", but abusing the merit system using a Legendary account is not worth it, because you may get that account banned as a result. And the cost of those legendary accounts will be much higher after a couple of months into the merit system.
And I also said "It doesn't actually need a specific solution."

35  Other / Meta / Re: Ban for don't know why on: March 06, 2018, 06:15:24 PM
Hello, i was banned.
"Reason: Participating in an on-forum altcoin giveaway. Ban duration: 7 days"
No messages from the admin for which post I was banned, no feedback.
What is the reason for this, can someone explain to me?

So just to get things clear.. You were banned in this account or in another one? Because I can't see a 7 day ban in this account's post history...
If it was another account then you should give us that account's link/name so that we can tell you why you got banned..

PS: I might be tagging TMAN to give you merits Grin Grin
36  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: SMERITS GIVE YOU POWER on: March 06, 2018, 05:33:20 PM
There are post that I have been read that is worthy than the person that they merited.
First of all, we are all humans and we make mistakes, we can't be totally objective and the merit system is still new and a lot of abusing is taking place.

The only thing I hate is that the distribution of merit is not fair to all accounts here in forum, why?
-snip-
For me those moderators are the only person who must distribute merits because I think they can distribute fairly those smerits to the other members here. But the problem is the moderators in every thread are few. I suggest they promote more moderators here in forum because of the growing population.
Merit distribution isn't the job of moderators but the job of merit sources. There are only 57 merit sources as of now which I agree is small number considering the huge number of users in these forums. Those merit sources are established members of these forums which I believe where hand picked by theymos.

But remember! The burden of merit distribution is not put solely on sources. It's the duty of each and every member of BCT, you know, the hidden rule of the new system is: If you are worthy enough to get merited then you are worthy enough to find a post of quality to merit.

In other words, You get 1 sMerit for every 2 merits you receive, so apart from the default merits that users started with, your chances of getting sMerits are the same as any other user in these forums.

last but not least, if you haven't read Theymos' post about the new system you should do it: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2818350.0

Man no need for all this quoting... Just post links to the specific posts..
Scrolling through all these quotes is just a pain in the ass.

Post a signed message with the bitcoin address listed in that account's description, this will help the admins confirm that it's actually your account.
