403  Economy / Reputation / Re: Steamtyme - An attack helicopter clearing the air or a "Reputation Thread" on: May 06, 2019, 06:18:51 AM
On 5th May 2019, Steamtyme received the 888th merits. I snapshotted it for Steamtyme with this nice figure, 888.
404  Other / Meta / Re: Number of members by rank? on: May 06, 2019, 02:48:28 AM
From the raw statistics, it seems that months after the birthday of both merit system and new rank requirements, massive spam has gone away. Lower ranks, like Junior Member, and Full Member are less actively posting than before, or they get banned/ nuked, or don't have interest to keep spamming because they feel that they can rank up.

Now, it is the era of Legendary, Hero, and Senior member ranks, those ranks in the top 3. Excluding Legendary rank, I doubt that most of posts made in Hero Member and Senior Member ranks come from non-self-made users and their shit posts. It is more interesting if someone can retrieve some figures (on two ranks, Hero Member & Senior Members) from users whom received less than 25 merits since Jan. 2018.:
- total posts made last month
- total users actively posted last month.

Too long, but it is what I agree with. Maybe I created a new term in bitcointalk.org, Trust Appeal.  Grin
As same as Ban Appeal, user who starts Trust Appeal should present, and explain his or her case in a single Trust Appeal thread.
Instead of moving the topic to "trolling", let's keep it on TRUST APPEALS

Updated the OP.

{c} Where to create Trust Appeal?
It is the Reputation child board. Most of users create their Trust Appeals in Meta board, that is wrong, because such things related to Trust don't relate to forum issues. Therefore, it is clearly not belong to Meta board.
Please create your Trust Appeal in Reputation child board

I made simple calculation on average post per user per rank.

Excluding Administrator, Staff, Global Moderator, the top five ranks in average post per user per rank last month (from suchmoon's given data above) are:
  • Legendary
  • Hero
  • Jr. Member
  • Copper Member
  • Sr. Member

Yes.
That is, I need to return my topic, which I created in the section "Reputation"?
Who knows? It is your case and you should know your case better than anyone else.
1. If you actually did something wrong, you have to do three things:
- Admit your mistakes (not serious mistakes)
- Change the way you use your account in the forum.
- Wait for forgiveness after very long time.

2. If you did not do anything wrong, you have to patiently wait for feedbacks from DT members.
- When they see and accept their mistakes, you will be free.

You did or did not make mistakes, I don't know. Refuse your mistakes and say lies will make things worse, not better.

But won't I make it worse?

And where should I go to resolve this issue?
You should know that when you posted there as reminder for your Trust Appeal, you likely made Trust Appeal Evasion.
You should only mention about your case in your Trust Appeal topic (Problem with negative Trust), only in that topic. You locked your Trust Appeal topic since January this year.
  • Bumping your Trust Appeals regularly, but not more than one time per 24 hours, and remember to delete previous bump
  • Discuss about your case only in a single Trust Appeal topic
Not only in my topic, you only did it there: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5095156.msg50903184#msg50903184

I think it will be better for you if you only stick with your Trust Appeal topic (you should unlock it and bump it for help). I don't know what is your case, but it is better approach for you.

Good luck,
410  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Are we become lazy now? Where is our creative idea? on: May 05, 2019, 05:28:06 AM
Lazy, it is hard to generalise all things like this. Some of us are lazy, sure; some of us are not lazy, it's true.
Which purposes from which users decided to spend their time to collect things (posts/ threads)?
This question is the key one to identify a speficic users are lazy or not.

The fact is we all have to collect things for our personal interests (from news on websites, social media, other forums to posts/ threads inside the bitcointalk.org). After collecting them, we should save them somewhere (through bookmark, spreadsheets, etc.) for later use. Now, it's done with collecting things.

Next, what we should do with such collections on specific aspects?
This step will identify which users are lazy, and which users are not lazy with their collections.
  • Lazy users: They usually report posts/ threads/ news that they think are helpful, and comprehensive to hunt for merits.
  • Hard-working users: They often sit back a while, to consider which ones have been mentioned detailed enough in things they collected, which ones have not been described or guided well, which ones they can improve better with their knowledge, understandings, and available documents in their collections. They might spend hours, days, or weeks to compose their new guides, with improvements from all current available sources (in and beyond the bitcointalk.org).

It is good to share amazing things you collected, but it is not enough. It will be better if you can withdraw something from what you collected. It shows your creativeness!

Let's consider more.
  • Quality of collections: If your collections are high quality, and unique. It's good to share.
  • Creative works (from what you collected): Users should try this approach.

1. Quality of collections: To clarify more, users can not collect low quality things and share them around. Therefore, they should read more, after collecting things, in order to be able to assess quality of collected sources.
I use the collected guides of LoyceV as an example: [GUIDES] on Bitcointalk. Index thread (until there is a dedicated subforum?). It is a very high quality collection. Forum members can suggest things they think good ones, but LoyceV reject to add into the collection so many times, maybe due to low quality or irrelevant guides.

2. Creative works:
I don't imply that when a user compose their own guide, with some improvements, their new guide will be a better version than all current available sources, but it is their own works, from their hard-working process, and from their initiatives. Such works should be given a round of applause and awards (merits, maybe).

Being creative does not mean that we have to make something totally new, even collections can be creative, like this one:
theymosisms - a collection of posts for reference. It is solely a collection of theymos' posts, but who can deny that the topic is creative? Lots of prominent users have all known about such opinion of theymos, but over years in the forum, no one created such collection. Even prominent users have to spend their time to find out theymos' posts for their reference from time to time. It is one of way to waste our precious time. Someone likely save theymos' posts for their personal interests, but did not share it like @Steamtyme. So, in my opinion, that guy made an excellent creative collection.

When we mention about creativeness, we should call it as creative ideas. All good posts, threads, projects start with creative ideas.

However, please don't publish our new guide if it is not better than current available ones! Just keep it in our computer, and think of ways to improve it. Only when we think it is good enough to be considered as better than current guides, it's time to seriously think of publishing it for forum members to share & help.

Some users even don't care that what they found (by search, or by chance) already answered better in other topics/ sources, because they don't know how to use search function, or too lazy to spend their time for searching.

412  Other / Meta / Re: Ideas for improving local boards? on: May 04, 2019, 07:33:39 AM
My local board is a suitable too, but I joined the forum when this local board locked due to over shitshowing. I can call it as disadvantage for real constructive users. However, it is life, and I have to accept it. I don't think merit system treat unfairly between posts made in international (English) and in local boards. Merits always find good posts to come. Only abusements in international and local boards are different, with overwhelmed abusements in local boards. For such over abused boards, it is better to locked them all; because it is hard to convince such shit-showers change their posting habits. Even good users of their nations don't care to join such local boards, even it is their first languages.

Interestingly, I joined the forum and even did not know there are local boards. I joined and simply read post in English. I did not jump directly and find where is my local board. In general, it's not right way to join any forum, and jump directly to find local boards. Nowadays, English is essential thing to communicate, discuss, learn, and to survive. Sticking with local languages is very bad approach and should be changed.

Don't over-create Trust Appeals; keep minds/ emotions stable. No more Red
Maybe, this thread is helpful for people whom usually over-react with their negative feedbacks.
414  Other / Meta / Don't over-create Trust Appeals; keep minds/ emotions stable. No more Red on: May 04, 2019, 03:51:39 AM
Getting Red Trust and negative feedbacks are among the worst things that one user can get in the forum, just behind getting nuked, permanent bans, temporary bans, and signature bans for years. In the topic, I don't go to discussions on other issues, this one is only focused on Trust Appeals.

Trust system created with original purposes to deal with exchange/ trade issues in the forum. Scammers tend to scam around and steal money from naiive users, so it's why Trust system created to prevent them scam forum members from time to time. DT members are responsible for this task when they found them or see reports from community.

However, DT members are human, and they can make mistakes, so sometimes they can use their roles and feedbacks inappropriately. It means sometimes Trust system get broken due to inappropriate feedbacks of DT members. Theymos stated about that clearly here:

I do not view it as appropriate for trust ratings to relate primarily to non-trust matters. By giving someone negative trust, you're basically attaching a note to all of their posts telling people "warning: do not trade with this person!". If we can get DT working well enough, in the future I'd like to prevent guests from even viewing topics by negative-trust users in trust-enabled sections, so you have to ask yourself whether your negative trust would warrant this sort of significant effect.

In particular, in my view:
 - Giving negative trust for being an annoying poster is inappropriate, since this has nothing to do with their trustworthiness. If they're disrupting discussion or never adding anything, then that's something for moderators to deal with, and you should report their posts and/or complain in Meta about it.
 - Giving negative trust for merit trading and deceptive alt-account use may be appropriate, but you should use a light touch so that people don't feel paranoid.
 - You should be willing to forgive past mistakes if the person seems unlikely to do it again.
 - It is absolutely not appropriate to give someone negative trust because you disagree with them. I'm disappointed in the reaction to this post. Although H8bussesNbicycles is perhaps not particularly trustworthy for other reasons, the reasons many people gave for neg-trusting him are inappropriate. You can argue that what he's advocating is bad on a utilitarian level, but he would disagree, and his advocacy of a certain Trust philosophy doesn't by itself mean that he's an untrustworthy person. DT selection is meant to be affected by user lists, and it is totally legitimate to try to honestly convince other (real) people to use a list more in-line with your views.

If you read all the quote, and notice well, you should see that theymos emphasized:
- You should be willing to forgive past mistakes if the person seems unlikely to do it again.
Therefore, you (Red-trusted guys) can always have chances to see your negative feedbacks removed someday.
- When you changed and DT members as well as forum members actually accept and verify your changes. This procedure takes time, months or years, but it is worthy if you really want to stay here, and actually changed, not pseudo changed to lift your negative feedbacks, then back to work of scamming other victims.
- When your negative feedbacks come from mistakes/ misusages of DT members. Sometimes, they left negative feedbacks due to disagree with someone on support projects that they think like scam projects (such as Bitcoin Cash). You can open your 'Trust Appeal' and wait to see it solved.

DON'Ts
Unfortunately, most of times, when someone open their Trust Appeals, minutes, hours, days or weeks later, their Negative trust points move to new all time highs. Why?
  • They usually try to attack or troll all DT members
  • They have unstable emotions and posting habits after open Trust Appeals
  • They don't honestly admit their mistakes
  • They try to spread their appeals and complaints everywhere in the forum, around topics

DOs
Please don't do this if you think your negative trust is wrong because they all will boost your Red trust points higher very fastly. Your final goals to open Trust Appeal is to reduce or totally remove your trust points. So, please do following things:

  • Open Trust Appeal {c}
  • Prensent clearly what are your issues: Your mistakes (admit whichever things you honestly think they are your mistakes); DT members' mistakes (by leaving inappropriate feedbacks on your case)
  • Showing proofs
  • Waiting patiently to see how it goes {a}
  • Bumping your Trust Appeals regularly, but not more than one time per 24 hours, and remember to delete previous bump {b}
  • Whichever replies you received, please maintain your opinion, your emotions neutral and stable. Don't fluctuate them from side to side
  • Discuss about your case only in a single Trust Appeal topic

There is the newest post of theymos about this issue.
There are aspects of the trust system that are clearly less than ideal, some of which are probably solvable (and some probably not). But caucusing with people who have very clear and serious questionable behavior isn't going to help you convince people of anything. Anduck had a good case for the trust system being broken. You (cryptohunter) might've had some case for the trust system being broken if you had handled your initial trust issues with rationality and patience instead of absolutely losing your mind and throwing lies around, and even now I could imagine your red trust eventually being cleared if you were able to attain a stable mindset. olcaytu2005 on the other hand hasn't even attempted to defend himself against the accusations (from several independent widely-trusted members, based on publicly-available data) of knowingly assisting scams, so he does not have a good case for the trust system being broken.

{a} TIME TO COOL DOWN
The key is don't hurry, don't angry too much. You need time to cool down, accept your mistakes (if you did); and DT members need time to cool down, and accept their mistakes (if they did).
Everything, and everyone have specific thresholds, beyond which will cause irreversible things. Over reacts will lead to being ignored (by Ignore buttons), and when it happens, no chance to see your negative feedbacks removed.

Maybe you are right at the fist place, but when you fall into angry, attack & trolling all, escalate things into 'Wars', you actually make real mistakes. Please don't do this.

Accept & admit your mistakes, make positively changes won't help you solve issues immediately or in short term. Because basic instinct of each person can not be changed within hours, days, months. So, your Trust Appeals take months or years to be solved (in case you actually did something wrong).

Forgiveness and de-escalation are key to getting Trust working smoothly:
 - Forgiveness: Often people make fairly small mistakes, but then they seemingly get red-trusted for life. This isn't really fair, and it discourages participation due to paranoia: if you think that you have a 1% chance of running afoul of some unwritten rule and getting red-trusted for life, you might just avoid the marketplace altogether. Red trust should mostly be based on an evaluation of what the person is likely to do in the future moreso than a punishment/mark-of-shame.
 - De-escalation: If some people end up locked in a feud where they're only really giving negative trust to each other in retaliation for negative trust, then one of them should propose burying the hatchet and removing the negative trust. Otherwise it never gets resolved, and everyone is worse-off for it.

Maybe your case will be solved after six months, maybe longer, like this:
Please review me in ½ year again. I am here to learn and improve.

{b} Bumping
Even the rule allows once bump for each 24 hours, but I think bumping its for every 24 hours is annoying. In my perspective, bump for each 7-day period is enough, and less annoying.

It happens only on Chrome. Tried already Firefox, Edge, IE. If you refresh a few times you can actually click it. It happens only if it is the unread.
It's a fresh new PC almost two weeks old, no sh!t installed on it, with the last version of Chrome.
I use Brave browser for Windows, and there is no link when clicking on topic title, but it works with link from the question mark. You should add Brave browser into the list. Refresh does not solve the issue (I actually refreshed ten times, issues not solved).
416  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Conspiracy guide to storing your Bitcoin on: May 04, 2019, 02:12:36 AM
I use 2/2 MultiSig wallet where each key is stored in each device. The keys were never copied or stored in the same device.
Additionally, if someone have enough funds and want to secure their bitcoin themselves, they should have some devices to store their bitcoin. Those devices should be used only for storing their bitcoin, not any kind of altcoins. Because the risks will become higher if you store other altcoins in the same devices you store bitcoin. Who knows those altcoins' wallets are safe. Furthermore, those devices should not be used for daily actitivites like web surfing or anything else. Solely be used to store bitcoin, and only open when you have demands to move your bitcoin to somewhere else.

The more time your devices used to store bitcoin connect to Internet, the higher risks of being exploited. So, keep them in frozen condition, and only connect them to Internet when you have reasons to move your bitcoin.
417  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LTC or ETH, what good to own now?? on: May 03, 2019, 11:49:31 PM
Although Litecoin is older than Ethereum, and the experienced traders know it for many years, I guess, ETH will be the better choice. This is the platform which is one of the best on the crypto market.
Older coins don't mean that they are better coins. For good coins, if they are older, it is probably that they have better reputation (just right for good coins) because they survived through many period, and crashes of market, but they actually survived and still be good coins. It means they have ability to develop their projects, to keep good supports for their customers / investors, and to fight against kinds of attacks on their networks as well as to stay strongly despite of general changes of crypto world over years. Litecoin is a good altcoin, but like you I would prefer to choose Ethereum. I have two coins in my portfolio, just in case I have to choose, I will choose Ethereum.

In addition, do you make contact with mods to solve this issue (Warning)? If not solved, even your project is good (it isn't) I don't think people will invest.
420  Economy / Reputation / Re: DT members can now to be hold liable for their negative feedback on: May 03, 2019, 09:09:40 AM
Warning (Red box, you meant) is solely a warning, and it emphasizes that visitors should create an account in the forum, then log in to find out more about topics with Warning! Visitors, who want to invest to such projects warned that they should investigate more about those projects (by reading feedbacks that lead to negative trust and given proofs attached) before taking risks. Theymos does not conclude that all projects with Warning! are scam projects or people whom get red trusts are actually scammers. They likely did something wrong in the past. And, theymos also stated that users should give opportunities for others to come back from their past faults. However, severity of past faults is important.
