There are pitfalls to being your own bank.

Ultimately you have to cash it out, as it stand right now. And if you do a large cashout to your bank account, the government'x tax agency will be on you like a hawk for not having declared the money.

Think Al Capone.

Well is not like we are looking to break the law and take to the bank over 10k usd with out proof of generating income, we all have to pay taxes specially if your self employee or Independent, every most operate with the law at all times.

for me Bitcoin allows me to hold some saving out of the banking system and the hands of the government.

pretty much everything and the same has you, being able to be my own bank, look for opportunities to generate bitcoin, offer some of my skills to gain bitcoin, trading, buying and selling, business opportunities which is pretty much big right now, one thing i do hate is not being able to mine in the beginning Smiley
330  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If bitcoin was accepted everywhere would you use it? on: June 28, 2015, 04:42:08 PM
this will begin happen by employers paying in bitcoin to all their workers and people will begin using it in the supermarket to the shopping mall.
but in general i would use it for everything no need to carry cash anymore, we would be able to pay anyone any amount just with our wallet on our phone or a plastic bitcoin card.
331  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My new way of getting rid of cold callers. on: June 28, 2015, 04:35:10 PM
I think I hate telemarketers more...  Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry

Some of them phone from places in another time zone... I get phone calls or Sms's at the weirdest times.

Next time, I am going to play along... and when it comes down to payment... I will demand for payment to be done in Bitcoin.

Once they get the hang of it, and switch to Bitcoin... I will just switch to another shitcoin to shake them off.

Sales calls is something i still get tons of until i found this easy and fun method of getting them back:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N3aCL8PIOuM

Its now no longer a problem  Grin

Lmao man Seinfeld was one of the best shows all around, it actually a pretty good tactic if you ask me, for most of this telemarketers we are just a number to call and their really no respect, let me give you my bitcoin wallet over the phone so you could bill me Tongue
332  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Use cases. What do you actually use Bitcoin for? on: June 28, 2015, 04:12:09 PM
the poll is doing great it shows a lot of what the current market is about, i was a bit surprise about a few options but i guess we don't have that much dark web market buyers here .

Speculation/Investment/Saving    - 57 (36.3%)
Online shopping    - 29 (18.5%)
Money transfer    - 23 (14.6%)

i would like to see a boost on the money transfer % since the rush of the remittance industry is going up we will see more and more companies offering money transfer for low rates.
333  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My new way of getting rid of cold callers. on: June 28, 2015, 03:59:05 AM
What if one of them finally says "Ok, here is our bitcoin address". Its bound to happen eventually  Wink

Lmao that would be funny if one of them comes out and say oh no problem sir i take bitcoin, gold or silver, lol. the is some hardcore door to door sellsman that will take anything in trade just be careful! lol

but actually when the time comes I'm sure most of this door to door sellsman will be all about being their own bank.
334  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: First Bitcoin ATM (BTM) comes to Greece amidst the recession! on: June 28, 2015, 03:49:07 AM
Despite the financial troubles, only a small fraction of the Greeks have heard about the Bitcoin and other crypto-currencies. And even fewer numbers know how to use them and to store them securely. Right now, most of the Greeks are storing their wealth in the form of fiat banknotes, and bullion coins. Bitcoin exchange rates are too volatile to be attractive.

Yea is most likely for them to turn into precious metals has is more in the general public knowledge to the value and trade of gold, silver and other precious metals, the greeks will begin to trade in metals in till they begin to see how hard is to trade with big vol of metals and with bitcoin is pretty much a clic away.
335  Economy / Economics / Re: Grexit on: June 28, 2015, 03:45:08 AM

Bailout? It has been rejected by Eurogroup. That is why the Greeks are going ahead with the referendum, on whether they should implement even tougher austerity measures or not.

And regarding the default, it has been confirmed by Tsiparas that no payment will be made before the deadline (30th June). The referendum is scheduled for 5th July, and only after that date they will make the decision about the payment.

this was i saw on the cnn, i guess from a glance they making seen like a last minute bail out http://edition.cnn.com/videos/world/2015/06/27/greek-debt-talks-labropoulou-cnni-nr-bpr.cnn
336  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: Earn BTC playing games??/ on: June 28, 2015, 03:38:45 AM
Giving money just for playing the game opens up space for exploitation, bot play and so on. It would make much more sense to give
players part of advetisement and sales revenue as rewards for best places in tournaments.

I have more than 1 000 hours in dota2 alone, but i wouldnt do something like that just for a small reward if the game was bad, it takes much more than that to attract real players.
With tournaments it would be much more interesting, and the reward would end up in better pocket than just giving it away based on time count alone.

cheers

Yea that's the only bad thing, there most be some kind of bot proof if it get implemented, tournaments would be nice to attrack the elite gamers that like to compete at events and leagues.
337  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: First Bitcoin ATM (BTM) comes to Greece amidst the recession! on: June 28, 2015, 03:00:10 AM
KimDotCom says greece debt default is going to boost gold and bitcoin .. I'm not sure sure about gold, but Greece sure might drift toward bitcoin in a big way ...

Well not Greece has a complete but more the tech savvy, the bitcoin foundation should step in and educate some of the greeks or setup an embassy in order to create a bigger bitcoin movement in greece.
338  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: Earn BTC playing games??/ on: June 28, 2015, 02:54:30 AM
I think an interesting idea, in my view the more ways to earn bitcoins better honestly. It's a good way of marketing, the game will attract players who will be playing to get your prize in Bitcoin .

Yea i know people that have over 5k hours just playing a single game, i think some of this game software companies could land a good point, specially a real reward system by having the users gain bitcoin for their playing time.
339  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Matonis: If Bitcoin XT Succeeds You Can Kiss 21 Million Cap Goodbye on: June 28, 2015, 02:49:30 AM
Given how hard it is to agree on a minor and obviously beneficial block size increase to 8 or 20MB, I doubt such a large and destructive change to increase 21M cap can have any chance to happen. Ever.

agree with this statement. Raising coin cap would never ever reach consensus. No one would ever be fool enough to even present this sort of change to the core principles of bitcoin.

Great interview, lots of good topics, specially touching foundation topics from the money raised from members and advocacy of the bitcoiners, he actually has some good points about the foundation turning wrong  into crafting regulations.
