1041  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Poll : People without a signature campaign - Add your name here on: September 01, 2014, 06:49:51 PM
We are here to help each other as a community.  We already had a member from another signature campaign, coming in here, and helping others to find a open slot in a campaign.

So let's help, where we can.  Wink

Honestly, the best thing you can do is just refresh the Services forum a few times a day. There is always a slot opening up here and there -- but you must be vigilant to catch it. All of the campaigns are limited now.
1042  Economy / Speculation / Re: POLL: Do you still expect a big rally in the next 60 days? on: September 01, 2014, 06:47:55 PM
There's no reason for the price to drop again, I'm expecting this rally for sure.

What's the reason for it to rise, at least in the short term? We need new money. For now, we have traders passing back and forth the same money, with merchants and miners adding downwards pressure. When and why will we see new demand to combat that? Sure, if big institutional investors and funds start changing the supply landscape (by buying all off-exchange coins available), price will follow. But I don't see any indication of that.

Where's that SecondMarket thread? They've been pretty inactive, right?
1043  Economy / Services / Re: Rollin - signature campaign on: September 01, 2014, 06:28:18 PM
Good, still need to get my escrow back from ms.escrow but it will be alright.

It seems escrow.ms has been quite busy as of late, and is no longer offering free escrow. Next time, you may consider devthedev or monbux -- they are both quite active on the forums. Cheers.

Looks like imgur got DMCA'd.. Sorry folks!

Also 6000+ plus people viewed this post / the link while it was up and not a SINGLE donation to the address.. Shame on you.

Is that address from the original leaker on 4Chan? Or you? This stuff was leaked all over the internet. Why would anyone send a donation to you simply for posting the link?

It boggles my mind these days how everyone expects something for nothing.
1046  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 01, 2014, 10:53:51 AM
The infamous DanV of Tradingview recently drew a Bitfinex chart where he predicted $100~ ... I think that is his lowest prediction yet. It's not Prof. Bitcorn level apocalypse, but it's getting there. Too bad I didn't save the link....
I am pretty bearish myself at the moment, but $100 sounds like total bullshit.

You gotta take into account this: "who is gonna SELL his BTCs for 300$ - $200 - 100$"?   Will there still be more people selling BTC for that kinda cheap price than people wanting to buy at that price?

I highly doubt it.

Well, I suppose in 2011 it went from $32 to $2. I know, I know, different time, different fundamentals. But while things are looking good for the fundamentals of BTC infrastructure (start-ups, merchants, funds), short/mid term price may be different entirely.

Hypothetical: How do you think people will feel if we break below $260s? That never happened before (breaking below previous ATH). If people start thinking "bitcoin is dead" for real, you might be surprised what they are willing to sell for.
1047  Other / Off-topic / Re: Epic bitcoin exchanges poll on: September 01, 2014, 10:44:40 AM
Not sure if "Off-topic" is the best place for this.... maybe "Trading Discussion."

Anyway, first and foremost, a real-time, non-lagging trade engine. Non-buggy platform is a must. Easy-to-use interface. Trading options -- stop orders, please. Regular auditing. Good cold storage protocols. Fast fiat withdrawals. More, but not off the top of my head.
1048  Economy / Speculation / Re: GABI's Start Price on: September 01, 2014, 10:40:57 AM
If you expect a pump because of this you will probably be disappointed

True. Everyone has known about this for some time.... just seems like non-news at this point. And in this kind of ugly down trend, good news tends not to do much anyway.

Is trading happening?

1050  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I am new,looking to start mining. on: September 01, 2014, 10:35:19 AM
Why is it that so many newbies show up here, assuming that the obvious way to go is mining? Bitcoins have a price -- does it not occur to anyone that simply buying may be a better investment strategy than mining?

Mining is very speculative and capital-intensive.
1051  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hello No clue if i am doing this correctly on: September 01, 2014, 10:33:38 AM
Hello so i am new to this completely i am doing the bitvisitor crap for probably 4 hours now lol just to see if my wallet works.. i am using electrum wallet and dont really know what to set the transaction fee to? it is currently set to .0002 btc w.e that means.. was wondering what the best  site to buy bitcoins is. Where i can buy like 60$ worth but no clue if it would even go into my wallet was wondering if anyone could donate a dollars worth to see if it shows up? my recieveing code is 1Fext11s59pv6n7y79p6ZiWThFDNZ7pDYc I hope im learning this right :/

If you've managed to get a transaction out of Bitvisitor, I'd leave it at that. What a waste of time. Smiley As far as sites to buy, where are you located? It depends on your preferences. If you want to buy relatively instantly, Localbitcoins for cash may be best. If you are in the US, Coinbase is very convenient. Otherwise, there are exchanges like Bitstamp, BTCE and Bitfinex.

But if you're just here to beg.... good luck to you. Grin
1052  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 01, 2014, 10:26:28 AM
Thought we might see a short squeeze tonight.... started off swiftly but it seems we got rejected at short term (1hr) EMAs.... bears too strong here? Maybe we need more down first before a proper bounce.

I'm trying to stay up a bit late to watch this crazy BTC market. So I just got back from the coffee shop with my 5-shot Americano. Need something to keep me going right now. Smiley
1054  Other / Off-topic / Re: Your plan in case of an alien invasion on: September 01, 2014, 07:37:53 AM
in case of alien invasion, buy bitcoins

That sounds like a brilliant plan. Do tell me more! Roll Eyes

It really depends on the type of alien. Some of the grey aliens -- zeta reticuli or whatever -- they're not friendly. You better just hope they aren't interested in messing with you. Humans are pretty primitive in comparison. Smiley
1055  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 01, 2014, 07:35:26 AM
The point was that at these bitcoin price levels mining is impractical.

Why would that be the case? Some miners/groups, I would think, have sources for cheap miners and cheap/free electricity. Don't you think there are miners whose margins can go much lower than this? Maybe I am missing something.

 Huh
1056  Economy / Economics / Re: will America ever be free again? on: September 01, 2014, 07:32:20 AM
The internet is that new land of opportunity. Leave your oppressive state and find freedom wherever it may exist for you.

What do you mean exactly, in reference to the internet? I'm intrigued by your comment, but I'm feeling sort of trolled right now. Cheesy
I think the point is that people can post/write anything they want on the internet. They have more or less complete freedom of speech with very few exceptions.

Yeah, well, if that's it, then woopty doo. The long arm of the US government is long. Cheesy

The internet's great for many things -- and potentially it could allow people to organize to achieve great change. Unfortunately, I see people becoming only more mind numbingly ignorant even as the internet becomes more prevalent.

Viking Metal!

\oo/ Grin

Right now I'm listening to some weird stuff.... "Charlotte Forever" by Serge & Charlotte Gainsbourg.... some really weird stuff going on in this song. For your enjoyment: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ij8OzweQr20

By "weird" you mean pedophilia!  Shocked

Maybe we'll see you in the Sex Offender Shuffle

Dude, it's a song. Say what you will, but Serge Gainsbourg (rest his soul) was one talented guy.

Anyway, onto an assortment of jazz on this fine Sunday evening -- the bay area's jazz station: http://kcsm.org/jazz91/listen.php
1058  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Thoughts about Bitcoin as a small country currency on: September 01, 2014, 06:23:59 AM
Any thoughts about Bitcoin replacing one of the extremely volatile currencies of a small country?

What fiat currency is more volatile than BTC? None that I can think of. Sure, during historic times of hyperinflation, etc. But just look at the history of BTC. We can't even discuss it as a currency until it stops being so volatile.
1059  Economy / Economics / Re: Solution to poverty - Socialism or Capitalism? on: September 01, 2014, 06:20:25 AM
Strong private property rights are the most important thing in an economy.
Strong private property rights will lead to strong wealth inequality and collapse of the system in final. History proved this axiom many times!

Agreed, this is the general course of things, historically. The concentration of wealth entailed by private property needs to be enforced by a state, whether public or private. Violent upheaval is the usual result.
